Welcome to this long running thread, a lot of posters have been here a long time but all newbies and returners are very welcome, do join us!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - there are too many of them.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.

There are 5 zones in the house that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism! You may need to adjust the zones to suit your house.

Habit of the month of October is paper clutter http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/october/

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

• Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
• Tuesday: plan & play
• Wednesday: anti-procrastination
• Thursday: errand day
• Friday: clean car & purse out and date night (which can be anything you make it, night in, night with friends, actual dates are not always going to happen)
• Saturday: family fun day
• Sunday: renew your spirit - again whatever you make of it, but it is time just for you.

Common acronyms we use:

• LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
• DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
• LMS: lose/lost my shit
• DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I will try and update the links every day, but they do update automatically on the website so you can just click on the ones in this post.

Apparently the app is very useful too, I am going to try that this month, I know some are already using it.

Links are below 👇

Ta Das (so far today):
🦇 vacuumed main floor of house
🦇 called tree guy
🦇 took dogs to groomer
🦇 sheets in washer
🦇 clean clothes put away

No one has shown up at the house yet today, so I took it upon myself to move things to make a path to the washer & dryer so I could do some laundry. That sounds bad but everything was shifted to the middle of the room for cleaning & painting. (What's bad is a lot of that stuff are boxes from moving in over 2 years ago 😳).

To Dos:
☠️ bathe dogs
☠️ more LOLs
☠️ bleach both bathrooms

I'm going to play it by ear today and see how much I can get done. I also need to text the restoration company, apparently they didn't get my list of paint colours I took to them last week 😠 but I did take pictures of it before I handed it in! Painters are supposed to be here tomorrow..

DomesticElf · 03/10/2023 20:22

Thank you for your thoughts ED, Hills, and Hazel. The only storage that would fit it is a shed type thing in the garden, but it will get mouldy there in no time. I think it's time I get rid of the travel system. I am one of those people who drive everywhere, especially if running errands, hence now I don't really use a pram with toddler. When we go for walks, he goes on his balance bike and I have baby in a sling (he has fairly good 'listening ears' but I know I can outrun him with baby in a sling if needs be. Not sure I would be able to with a pram..).
I am very hormonal and broody for a third 😂 but given the uncertainty of that, I don't think it's a reason enough to keep this travel system.

Now I need to figure out what's the best way to get rid of it.

Hills I feel stressed just reading about your shenanigans.

Ta das:
🧺Hallway decluttered. Plant in the hallway watered (it doesn't get watered very regularly because it's all the way downstairs, but it's somehow thriving..).
🧺Lolx3 and out to dry
🧺All dry laundry folded and put away
🧺Living room tidied up
🧺Fishtanks sorted X2
🧺Bins out. Cleaned up leaked bin juice from the kitchen bin 🤮
🧺Extended S&s

DomesticElf · 03/10/2023 20:27

Forgot to add:
🧺Decluttered clothes for me and DCs, and brought over to charity shop.
🧺Bought all gifts for upcoming parties/birthdays this month

EfficientlyDecluttering · 03/10/2023 22:05

Tada!

Fed cats
Shook doormat and cleaned front door
Put milk away
Made packed lunch
Hotspotted hall (wasn’t too bad)
Work
Sainsburys
Went to allotment
Dinner (cooked by DH)
Interrupted by cat vomiting on the doormat I shook out earlier
Door mat to back garden and hosed down
Finished dinner
Soup out of freezer for tomorrow lunch
Filled in electoral roll thing (adding DD)
Ordered something from Amazon
Crochet while watching Bake-off

I am trying to get back into my morning and evening routines, even though the DCs are at college and uni now I still seem to slip a bit in the holidays and needed to get back to term time routine. Who was it said they feel guilty about having a day off with older DC, was it @HouseorHome ? I feel a bit the same, I have Fridays off, having been part time since youngest DC (17) was born but I really treasure that day off, I do some chores, errands, shopping, see friends (I still have a few that are also part time), it keeps the weekend free for family stuff.

Sundays of course you can, the more the merrier. Use Baby Steps to create a routine, do some decluttering, Wednesday is anti-procrastination day

Welcome Sundays 👋 let us know if you have any questions on anything, we are a friendly bunch!

More ta das:

HauntingHazel · 04/10/2023 04:53

Well, I went shopping a little bit, got some dog toys and when I got home I threw away some that were tattered and destroyed. There were a few other things I bought as well, they all got out away as well.

Ta Das:
🕸 got my lunch ready for tomorrow
🕷 got my clothes out ready for tomorrow
🕸 handwashed dishes
🕷 wiped countertops & microwave

It's been a full day, although I did get to sit and watch my show for about 25 minutes!
🍒👋 to everyone
It's bedtime here! 😴

EfficientlyDecluttering · 04/10/2023 07:15

Welcome @slowsundays just ask if there’s anything you don’t understand (that goes for the chat as well as the Flying).

Wednesday’s flight Plan is here http://www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60

Our mission is to wipe away fingerprints and smudges, a damp microfibre cloth is good for this. Wednesday’s Daily focus is anti-procrastination. I have a long admin to do list so I am going to try and knock something off it today.

OP posts:
CherryogDog · 04/10/2023 09:11

Morning 🌄 everyone 👋
Hi @slowsundays
Finally after 4 weeks I have some TaDas, I cleared and cleaned my front room and downstairs hall, ready for the BT tech. Also cleaned the bathroom in case he needed it.
He was a total weirdo, to the point I rang BT yesterday to complain about him. He was telling me about another customer wanting the X rated channels, and someone else needing their photos transferred to a new phone and describing a photo with the customer and his girlfriend in a compromising position, and making jokes about it.
Oh, and telling me to smile more because it made me look younger ffs.
I've got an enormous todo list, but actually I feel like throwing everything in the bin because the thought of tidying everything away before I can clean kills all my motivation 😆

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/10/2023 09:34

The skip approach is a valid approach Cherry

ta da
pick fight with ds
get ds doc appointment sorted
catch up on the shennagians in the news and get mad
drink too much coffee.

Off to anti-procrastinate an in person appointment that I was waiting to do but needs dealing with NOW. <sigh>
to do
Pick up bags for moving books
move books
remove the last pieces of furniture from my office
remove the pieces of furniture from my room
deal with the kitchen
figure out what the fuck is for tea
Not LMS with anyone unnecessarily
And a whole heap of stuff that i will figure out once i have picked up chocolate. Because today it is needed. <sigh>

HouseorHome · 04/10/2023 10:15

Yes, it was me who said I feel guilty about having a day off now that youngest DC is 19 @EfficientlyDecluttering . I treasure it too (it's today this week!) but I think the guilt has come because I just don't use it well at all at the moment and I want to change that. Not suggesting that I need to be cleaning all day to do that - I just feel like I waste it more often than not. Deciding to go out for a meal & drinks with DH last night because I had the day off today hasn't helped today...got up much later than usual and haven't done much yet. Day is still young though 🙂

DitzyDaffodils · 04/10/2023 11:12

What a creep Cherry, hope you're ok. I've had the misfortune of working with men like that. There's something wrong with them. Totally incapable of interacting with women in a way that isn't about sex. Very unpleasant to be around

Currently procrastinating very hard. Window shopping online, filling my basket with things I can't afford and don't need

DomesticElf · 04/10/2023 20:06

I am glad today is over. I am very cranky for no reason, toddler has a cold coughing all over the place and being extra clingy, and weather is shite.

Did the routines, house is tidy. Kids in bed. I am checking out for the evening.

JewelleryCat · 04/10/2023 23:10

Haven’t done much today, personal issues. I washed two blankets today and that’s it

Welcome 🙂I’m a newbie here as well. It’s very friendly and helpful here

Lostcotter · 04/10/2023 23:20

Great to stumble on this thread! trying to get stuff done after being down with flu last month and house getting into a mess.

EfficientlyDecluttering · 05/10/2023 07:51

Morning, welcome on board @Lostcotter the more the merrier. It’s so easy to let things slip when you are unwell. Have a look at the links in the OP if you are new to the Flylady system and ask if you don’t understand anything.

Today, Thursday, is Errand Day, I’m not sure if I have any particular errands that need doing but need to consult my to do list as I am making a concerted effort to shorten it this week.

Our flight plan is here http://www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60

The mission is to spend 15 mins getting rid of anything tha does not belong in your porch and hall. This is one area where we are OK as we had the hall redecorated this year and new shoe cabinets etc and not too much clutter has crept back in yet. However I will spend the time in DS’s room, I did another half hour in there last night as I had moved furniture to hoover under there and needed to put it all back in order to find something I needed from his desk (he’s away at uni).

OP posts:
DomesticElf · 05/10/2023 07:59

Our hallway is generally ok, I keep on top of not letting things accumulate there. The main problem is the shoes. Unless neatly stacked, it makes the whole hallway look messy. Also, there is no space to put a bigger shoe rack, so there in no workable solution for this until we move.
Happy Thursday, everyone!

SingToTheSky · 05/10/2023 08:02

Welcome sundays and lost it’s lovely to have you on board! Apologies if I’ve missed anyone 💐

YesTaDa
🔱bit of reading
🔱work
🔱made DS do some work

I am feeling very groggy today and CBA to get up but I need to. I’m meeting my colleague to plan some projects but then I have to get back, grab my stuff, take DS to the station to see him onto a train to college, then get the train from the opposite platform to my mum’s where I’m staying for a couple of nights.

But I haven’t even packed yet. 🤦🏻‍♀️

po3.1
❗️Breakfast of some description
❗️Empty backpack as it’s full of random crap
❗️Tidy desk as I’m worried if I leave it messy it’ll end up with more stuff piled on it while I’m away!

SingToTheSky · 05/10/2023 08:45

po3.2
❗️Pack backpack (for later) and laptop bag (for now)
❗️Shower/get ready
❗️Leave at 9.20 latest

CherryogDog · 05/10/2023 09:32

Morning 🌄 everyone 👋
I took advantage of DP having a day off work to take me shopping yesterday, and that's all I did 😚
I've got a phone appt with the pain management team today for a meds review, other than that I plan to start tidying my dining room.
If energy permits I'll do some batch cooking.
I've been reading about UPFs and clean eating, and I'm gearing up to give it a go to see if it helps with my health conditions.
Happy Flying everyone!

A lot of the substances in Ultra processed food have been proven to have inflammatory affects cherry so it is entirely possible. But you will have to read every. single. label. As bisto gravy granules is now an entirely ultra processed food. There is nothing in it that hasn't been meddled with in a lab.

I was reading the musty washing thread and i am sitting on my hands to avoid posting the video that explains exactly HOW badly modern washing techniques are. It is enough to put you off your dinner.
