Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.

There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Habit of the month of August is Laundry

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

• Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
• Tuesday: plan & play
• Wednesday: anti-procrastination
• Thursday: errand day
• Friday: clean car & purse out and date night (what's that again?? 🤔)
• Saturday: family fun day
• Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

• LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
• DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
• LMS: lose/lost my shit
• DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more I haven't mentioned, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change).

I like the app as it has a tick list and I love a list.

Links are below 👇 and I'll tend to post the links the night before ready for the next day.

Unfortunately storage pod not possible - road to narrow, and can't park cars on it so drive needed for that. We have had some long conversations and expectations are now realistic for the worse case. And anything else will be a bonus. We have discussed next phase of prep etc, and we have a sensible plan.
I have been allowed to express my frustrations over the kitchen batshittery. Whether or not people actually do the thing they say is reasonable is unlikely, but i have been allowed to voice the complaints. And i can face the world a heck of a lot better with a good multi situational plan. Best case we are done before December, middling we are done in December and most likely, worst case we are done in the new year. It is easier when you have your expectations in check.

The thunder has just arrived, air is smelling slightly singed atm. But the break in the temp and humidity is really appreciated. Hopefully a cooler less muggy day tomo will allow productivity to be higher. But at least hopefully I will be able to sleep.

Plan for Monday:
unload, reload, run DW
empty washing machine and hang up
pots
the doesn't going in the washing machine stuff
4 conference sessions signed up for the conference in the wrong time zone again so will be finishing at 2am and pretending to be a zombie this week (remind me it was worth it when we get to thursday)
CV rewrite
linked in stuffs
not threaten to throw technology out the window
figure tea that can be left for people to fend for themselves
book onto other training stuffs

Right i need to remind ds to not scream so loudly at the people in the computer as the rest of us need to sleep as we didn't all sleep til tea time.

derrydee · 10/09/2023 21:35

@HillsBesideTheSea thank you for the summary - that was very helpful! Had not seen the baby steps so have started those, my sink is shining!

@partypompoms unfortunately I am cluttered! I have been attempting to declutter for ages but it's so slow and the house is always a mess. If we tidy it, it lasts for a couple of hours and then messy again so quickly. Interested in a hula hoop but this won't help with the decluttering!

✅Shined sink
✅Decluttered / tidied / cleaned a kitchen drawer
✅LOL
✅ hoovered main living room
✅ ironed something for tomorrow - this never happens! Also ironed DC's school stuff.

This evening - loaded DW, wiped surfaces, did a 2 min hotspot, got clothes ready for tomorrow.

We have had no rain here! So still hot.🥵

partypompoms · 10/09/2023 21:41

@derrydee what helped me was constantly having a bag for the charity shop hung up somewhere. Everyday I committed to getting rid of at least one item either to charity or bin or friends. I still do that now! Today I got rid of some children's books and kids clothes.

MONDAY:

Flight plan: www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60&d=1

✅home bleurgh or as it's properly called...home blessing hour 🤮
*
*Vacuum
Dust
Quick Mop
Polish Mirrors and Doors
Purge magazines/catalogs
Change Sheets
Empty all trash cans

www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-monday/

✅ mission: clean round the base of sink and loo in the bathroom

✅ mission: 5 mins getting rid of anything you can from a stash and dash area. Those are places that we chuck stuff out of sight to deal with later but maybe we don't go back to them so the build up.

Lots of very productive lists on here. Loving the inspiration.

I finally did some more detailed cleaning in the kitchen.
Ta Da:
🌞LOLs, endless LOLs. But all wet out to dry and all dry folded and put away. Can't wait until I get a dryer again.
🌞Kitchen surfaces cleaned
🌞Decrumbed toaster
🌞Cleaned microwave
🌞Bedsheets changed and beds/duvets aired

I really wanted to do Fishtanks today, but didn't get around to it.
Apologies for the lack of personals, brain is like a sieve this evening.

Searchingforsunnydays · 10/09/2023 22:33

Just popping in before I call it a night to say I finally reclaimed the bit of kitchen side that is always buried in paperwork and bits of tat !! 🙌🏻 I can now see my grandmas teapots that got passed to my mum and when mum passed away , I claimed them for my own ❤️ please poke me with a pointy stick if I let that but of kitchen side build up again! I need to get it into either my daily or weekly routine to clear it !

Also the 'back to school' paperwork has been overwhelming this weekend !! But it's all up to date , just got to remember to hand it all in!

Night all , will catch up on personals.

BloomingHazel · 10/09/2023 23:06

YesTaDas:
🌻 swept driveway at ILs (they're gone away for a few days)
🌻 helped DS mow their grass
🌻 transplanted my 2 plants into pots so they are now out of the way of the building work / removal of shed
🌻 watered plants
🌻 picked up paint samples
🌻 went back to ILs - vacuumed and mopped for them
🌻 checked on their cats (they have an automatic feeder, but I need to make sure water is full & give them treats of course!)

I ended up with over 15,000 steps yesterday and I'm feeling it!

Ta Das:
🌻 watered my plants
🌻 went to next big town - looked at tiles and shower fixtures, bought a few things needed for the camper

SingToTheSky · 11/09/2023 07:55

Just another 30 minutes then all my jobs will be done .......

DomesticElf · 11/09/2023 21:11

Sunny sounds like it's a good time to sit down and put your feet up. Housework can wait.
Cherry I hope you feel better soon 🤒
Hills I am very impressed with inbox zero!
Sing how are you finding homeschooling?
Hazel when are they starting to fix your house?

Ta Das:
🌊Bleached bathrooms, including baby bath and all potties
🌊Fishtank maintenance X3, including filters
🌊Usual kitchen shenanigans of DW and cleaning of surfaces

DomesticElf · 11/09/2023 21:15

Oh and I also bought a proper bathroom scale, not the cheap electronic rubbish we had which turned to random number generator after less than a year. I've started to properly diet to shift baby weight and hopefully get back to my pre pregnancy weight. Currently Jabba the Hut I see in the mirror is making me sad.

Even went as far as getting the app, and I am so not looking forward to calorie counting, it's soul destroying.

SingToTheSky · 11/09/2023 21:33

Love home ed Elf I think we are into our ninth year now?! But balancing a Year 10 and a Year 1 is, erm, challenging especially with DH and I both working PT.

ta da
💎work meetings
💎made lunch
💎reading practice with Cagletini
💎maths and English with DS (and marked his chemistry work)
💎an hour of work in the evening

Feeling really worn out TBH, and like I’ve not managed to do anything properly! But hopefully after a few weeks I’ll be in the swing of things. And DD1 had a brilliant first day at college!

partypompoms · 11/09/2023 21:50

Today has done me in:

✅ toddler group
✅ hula hooping 15 mins
✅ picnic in park
✅ made curry and naans for two nights worth
✅ morning, afternoon and omg..,evening routine!!! Never happens for me

Links to tomorrow coming now

TUESDAY: www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60&d=1 FLIGHTPLAN

✅ plan and play day to make your week go smoothly... www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-tuesday/

✅ clean bathroom bin thoroughly inside and out.

✅ 5 mins on a stash and dash spot finding potential charity donations

✅ pamper mission: make a diy hair mask. Here's a recipe with egg and vinegar... 😝

www.flylady.net/c/pampering.php?tzm=-60

Think I'll give that a miss but I do need to dye my hair

OP posts:
derrydee · 11/09/2023 23:05

Today I appreciated having my clothes ready but the mornings still seem like a rush and didn't manage to do many jobs.

today ta da
✅ DW loading unloading
✅ 1 x LOL
✅ emptied bins
✅ dusted living room
✅ got confused by what a mission was and what day it was so cleaned the bathroom bin!
✅ did my evening routine which now includes sink, DW, surfaces, clothes and face
👩‍💻work
👩‍💻 couple of hours volunteer work

I need to factor in DC's reading and homework in at some point which we're quite lax with!

partypompoms · 12/09/2023 03:16

@derrydee we do child's riding when we are day waiting for the school bus. We are morning people so this works for us. She's far too tired after school to read although she likes to drag bedtime out so maybe we could do it then too.

OP posts:
BloomingHazel · 12/09/2023 03:44

Elf they will be coming in tomorrow to start taking things out of the shed (& I'm assuming throwing it all away) and taking the shed down. There are multiple contractors showing up tomorrow so they can give quotes for what needs to be done.
Hopefully they will start working on it fully within a couple of weeks, then it should be go, go, go until they're done!
I tried calorie counting, got down to about my goal weight, but put it all back on again, and then some. Then back in 2018 I discovered low carb/ keto and have stuck with it, mostly.
I'm only about 9lbs away from my goal weight now, and 18lbs down from my highest weight.

derry it looks like you're making a great start to your routines. Keep on going, it'll all fall into place eventually!

CherryogDog · 12/09/2023 06:56

@DomesticElf what scales did you get? I replaced my old scales with electronic, because I couldn't read the numbers, but I don't think mine are very accurate.

DomesticElf · 12/09/2023 15:41

Cherry I got these from Amazon. Apparently 15 years warranty.
Hazel but I love my carbs! Wonders why there is 20kg to lose in the first place
I will give it a go, it sounds better than calorie counting.

Flying out of summer (what summer?!)
HillsBesideTheSea · 12/09/2023 19:21

There is usually a bootcamp thread this time of the year. It can be quite good to follow along for tips and tricks on the low carb.

ta da
empty dw
drain/clear water stuck at bottom of machine
clean filter
stick soda crystals in drain bit bottom
add salt
currently on a hot wash cycle.

I have strong opinions about machines that can't do their one job.

Apparently i have not eaten properly today and i have a headache. Tea is not going to help this situation as it is a pasta based tea. but i currently can't access the freezer due to the nonsense that is the DW and unwashed but went through the cycle dishes. Bastarding machines.

SingToTheSky · 12/09/2023 22:19

Sympathies hills we had WM and printer issues on Sunday 😑

ta da
🥳reading practice with Cagletini
🥳met colleague in person for the first time in aaaages and got lots of planning done (also had breakfast)
🥳meeting
🥳set DS up with his English work

Don’t think I managed anything else. Hormonal, achy and tired so I’ve been binge watching TV. Thankfully DH no longer needs to work tomorrow so that’s an easier day, although he will now need to take DS to get kitted out for his college course and I need to try and fit in lots of work hours - I’d hoped to do more this evening but noped out in favour of aforementioned telly.

partypompoms · 12/09/2023 22:22

Left it late to think really!

✅ finished home bleurgh
✅ coffee at mine with friend
✅ lol
✅ morning,afternoon and night routine
✅Hula hooping in rain!!! (Extra points)
✅ walk with toddler
✅ posted and picked up Vinted parcel
✅ made shopping list
✅ emptied bin
✅ took a child to rainbows class
