Is changing my sheets twice a week too much?

Not DC's just mine. I love getting into fresh linen. Am I just making a rod for my own back, or does anyone else do this?

Ours get changed twice a week. When on holiday dh demands fresh sheets every day now that's a luxury!

Twice a week sometimes 3 times a week in the summer for me.

Same here.

Tbf I have only washed bottom sheet and pillow cases 3 times this week, the duvet hasn't been used. Half load on a quick wash to freshen them up and line dried.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 18/06/2023 22:22

How deeply insecure have you got to be, to need strangers’ approval of your sheet-changing schedule?

This is called a forum. It's interesting to get outside views on things.

Some people here have said they changed them daily, at one point. Someone pays to have them changed twice weekly. A few have said weekly, fortnightly, monthly. An environmental viewpoint has been shared. I didn't have all that information before I posted, because it is such a mundane thing, it doesn't normally come up in conversation.

So what you're saying is that every time you ask for an online opinion, instead of asking for information YOU are asking for permission?

It depends how much erm... activity is going on in your bed. If you are just sleeping in it then YABU.

blahblahblah1654 · 18/06/2023 22:35

Once a fortnight. I find changing bedding so annoying, especially as we have a super king. I don't sleep naked so I don't think it needs changing more often.

Macaroni46 · 18/06/2023 23:17

Personally I think it's excessive, unnecessary and bad for the environment. Even once a week seems a lot to me!

Daisy62 · 18/06/2023 23:25

I aspire to once a fortnight but don’t care if it’s longer. Do what makes you happy OP.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/06/2023 23:43

I often do them more than once a week especially in the summer.

Beenalongwinter · 18/06/2023 23:44

Twice a week in the summer.
Once a week in the winter.
If I win the lottery I would have clean sheets every day.
White pure cotton . I only iron the pillowcases which must be Oxford. I fold and tightly press the duvet covers.
I store them in sets a fitted sheet and two pillowcases folded inside the duvet cover and tie with blue ribbon.
I spray the pillowcases with NEOM lavender Spray when I make the bed.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 19/06/2023 02:23

I love nice clean bedding but I couldn't be arsed twice a week - with the physical changing, the extra washing or the finding space to dry more washing.

suburbophobe · 19/06/2023 02:32

dh demands fresh sheets every day

Thank fuck I'm single.

Theoldwoman · 19/06/2023 02:33

I do mine twice a week, live in a hot place plus we have a dog that like to sneak in the sheets during the night.

EmeraldFox · 19/06/2023 04:36

How do you find that much drying space in winter?

Theoldgreygoose · 19/06/2023 04:49

EmeraldFox · 18/06/2023 21:16

I change mine about once a month. I think more than weekly is excessive, that's a lot of extra laundry, time and cost.

I agree. Once a fortnight in summer, once a month in winter.

stayathomer · 19/06/2023 05:40

I change all the kids’ sheets once a week, ours less (because I’m wrecked by the time I do theirs lol!). Everyone I know does it different amounts. If yours works for you and gives you a nice sleep go for it!

CrannyFadock · 19/06/2023 05:48

Once every couple of months for me! I'm happy 😁

GracePalmer33 · 19/06/2023 05:52

I wish I had the time and motivation to wash mine once a week. However I do not. Blush

LynetteScavo · 19/06/2023 06:09

You're not making a rod for your own back because you could stop anytime.

I'm a clean sheets once a week person, unless there's a need to change sooner. Fresh sheets are one of life's pleasures, so if it's good for your mental health crack on. If changing sheets it's too much hassle and you be happier lying down on stale sheets, each to their own.

I love my Sunday night fresh sheets, it's the right balance for me. If the rest of the world changed their sheets yearly, I'd still stick to weekly because it's what suits me.

Oblomov23 · 19/06/2023 06:27

Once a week is enough.

ThursdayFreedom · 19/06/2023 06:33

continentallentil · 18/06/2023 21:25

I don’t but fresh sheets are nice, so nothing wrong with it. (Short wash cycle though, for mama Earth).

@continentallentil if you're concerned about mama Earth 🤮then you need to know that the short wash cycle is LESS environmentally friendly on most machines. (It ups the agitation which uses more electricity than the longer cycles that 'soak' more to get things clean).

@MILofdoom

have a look at your machines instruction booklet. As I said in my previous post. Quick washes are convenient, not usually energy saving as they agitate more using more electricity, longer washes are less convenient but almost always use less energy.

guineacup · 19/06/2023 06:39

Those "weeping for the planet" because the OP changes her sheets twice a week are being ridiculously over the top!

This is what I came to this thread for. Absolutely hilarious. 😆

Do you have staff?

Or by ‘ours get changed twice a week’ you mean you have to change and wash them twice a week, or your demanding husband becomes quite unpleasant?
