Things you are really pedantic about, even if a dirty beggar the rest of the time?

I am not a particularly tidy person but there are a few things that I have to do

I always iron the DC clothes even if we are just staying in all day. I am not so fussy about my own. I don't iron bed linen either.

I polish glasses and cutlery before putting them away.

My underwear is always handwashed and stored in sets in gauze drawstring bags

I clean the oven every day.

I'm with SugarSkyHigh about people sitting on beds in clothes they've been outside in (shudder). Also hate outdoor shoes worn in the flat. In my defence I have a 2.8yo and a 4mo and we have cream painted floorboards or (kitchen/bathroom) white tiles everywhere.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 31/01/2008 20:07

I forgot one. I regularly clean our doorbell and intercom, and polish the number outside.
Ignoring the fact that the woodwork is in dire need of a new gloss.

Just out of interest do you ladies that hoover more than once a day get freaked out if your children eat stuff off the floor? Is that why you do it or do you have hard floors that show up all the dirt and dust?

I hoover maybe every other day sometimes I leave it for longer.
DH freaks about them eating things from the floor but I don't worry too much.
I've seen them eating leaf mulch in the park after all.

I am not sure I am pedantic about anything. DO like the living room to be tidy in the evening. That's about it.

glassofwhite · 31/01/2008 22:59

Hoover twice a day - we have a dog!

Im with jayne, dishwasher has to be loaded correctly!Cups to the left, glasses to the right.

Bathroom gets done everyday, good clean on sunday.

Beds changed everyweek.

We live in a chaotic nightmare...it got so bad that we lost TWO five foot Christmas trees. I found one of them a few days ago. They are not real ones, I might add.
I hate it when people come in wearing shoes and am anal about folding towels with the seams on the outside.

Lauriefairycake · 01/02/2008 00:06

I thought until I read this thread you were all a lovely normal bunch

I cannot imagine all that cleaning.

There is not one thing I am pedantic about apart from washing my hands after rubbing the dogs anus (not for kicks you understand but a poo got stuck)

chocchipcookie · 01/02/2008 08:39

My house is really immaculate except that...

I haven't cleaned my oven for a year.

DH is going to clean it, he's fed-up with it smoking.

Vulgar · 01/02/2008 09:06

If the dishwasher is on, all cups and plates must be in the sink. Not on the worktops. arggh!

Can't bear plates in the living room. or people in pyjamas past breakfast time. Don't mind putting PJ's on early in the evening tho'!

Go mental if I find a skid in the toilet.

Apart from that, I'm a slob compared with you lot. Sometimes wish to be a bit more motivated in the household chores department.

jeremyspants · 01/02/2008 14:38

I'm going to add that I got a bit miffed when dd sneaked the goat in to the living room and was caught sharing crisps with her caprine friend.
No one told ME we had crisps.

I once wrote to Kim and Aggie but alas, had no response. Dh has hired a skip.

cutekids · 01/02/2008 14:49

as soon as i get up in the morning, i have to clean the sink and the loo
then i have to hoover upstair---even if everyone else is still asleep
then i give the downstairs mantelpiece, window sills, table and kitchen floor a wipe over
then i hoover downstairs
and this is before anyone gets up....i know, i know i'm weird....but as long as i know these little things are done, i don't care what else is dirty!!!!more like some sort of obsession really i suppose.

I bleach our 2 toilets relentlessly - I cannot stand stained toilets, bleurgh! My dh always leaves little piles of hair on the bathroom floor after his morning shower and I run around like a bloody lap dog with my dust buster - just picture it, ladies!!

tigana · 01/02/2008 15:02

Picking cat crap out of litter tray almost the same millisecond the cats arse isn't hovering over it anymore and flushing down loo. To stop the spread of stench. And because if her litter tray is 'dirty' one of them will undoubtedly crap on the doormat instead .
(they are going outside soon now we have a garden)
That doesn't seem like a particularly 'odd' mini-obession though.

Vulgar · 01/02/2008 17:05

tigana

i hate cat crap so much, I bought one of these www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=169637&aid=336064&aparam=littermaid

hifi · 01/02/2008 17:24

dh must have his bum hole in a very odd place as he always leaves deposits on top of the seat, makes me gip, the only thing i go mad about.

Vulgar · 01/02/2008 19:48
