We got a bunch of admin done yesterday so that’ll make me feel better and free me to
to do some decluttering in the weekend while alone .
ill also fold the post travelling laundry mountain so I’m sure there’ll be some outs from that .

Vinorosso74 · 28/04/2022 20:03

Well, after advertising my item this afternoon. A buyer through Gumtree has just been and got it!

That’s so satisfying.

especially compared to the repeated no shows I’ve had for some items.

really need to do some housework today - not my favourite and I always dodge it! But hopefully I’ll find some outs while doing it. Walk with friend first though.

Nordicmom · 29/04/2022 09:04

We still have a bunch of stuff to list on eBay , it’s my DH thing to do . We must have been lucky when after a long time since he last listed years ago and started selling his dad’s and his own and kid’s bikes etc we’ve had only good experiences . all buyers have been legit and collections gone smoothly .

LivingInaBuildingSite · 29/04/2022 10:22

Sorted through box of hand me down shoes. One pair of football boots in charity box.
plus 2 running tops that are too big for me.

starting two piles of school uniform I can give away soon, DD is leaving primary in July and is now in summer uniform but I’m holding onto the winter stuff just in case they announce they have to wear it for an event, and DS1 finished GCSEs in July, only has one more enforced sports session in his life! Not that we’re counting…he hates sports with a passion but I bet he’ll take up something as an adult and love it. Means I can get rid of his PE bag and kit soon though, just need to find someone to pass it onto.

I had to collect car then 'regular' cleaned the kitchen then had to do some admin too which didn't allow me to declutter but I've got a small amount of money back. STBXH proving why he's been decluttered today 🥺

Gassylady · 29/04/2022 16:17

Just checking in. Started scanning a load of books, CDs and DVDs to see if music magpie etc want them as youngest has decided they won’t be read or watched again. My two closest charity shops aren‘t accepting them at the moment. Otherwise I can see if there is a local children’s centre or similar that might want them I suppose. Still avoiding the photos and stamps 😂🙄

Vinorosso74 · 29/04/2022 17:22

Also checking in as I've advertised another item this afternoon. It's a freebie so I'll see if that goes easily.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 29/04/2022 17:31

Decluttering a whole human is pretty good going, esp an obnoxious one 👍

plus all his stuff too I hope (unless you wanted any of it obvs).

changed beds and did lots of hoovering and general tidying in Ds1 and DDs rooms. Can’t get rid of much without them around to approve now they’re older.

have got rid of an old lanyard thing of DDs.

and the start of a box of perfumes, soaps, hand creams, etc. to take into the care home where I work as they’ll get used there and DD doesn’t need them. Not counting them as out until Monday when I go to work though.

my tidying has inspired DD to go and tidy her desk and take all her diamond painting crap up there, so it’s out of the living room at least.

Hope you’re ok 💐

Sexnotgender · 29/04/2022 17:48

Just sold a necklace and earrings on eBay (£150 🎉) so they’ll be out the door shortly.

Also listed the jumperoo on FB so hopefully someone takes that monstrosity off my hands.

Had a video walk round with a removal company today. It’s all getting very real 🙈

londonmummy1966 · 29/04/2022 18:39

Hopefully better times to come @seperatedmum
Well done with the listing @Vinorosso74

I managed to sort out all of DDs stationery and organise it in the IKEA wooden magazine files and letter racks - they seem to have compartments for everything. Quite a bit in the bin and a few unopened items into the charity shop bag. ALso an opened but mainly unused roll of Cath Kidston labels I figure someone might use.

I also walked round to the little library box on a nearby street and dropped off some books there.

I thought for those of you with baby stuff you just want rid of (rather than selling) - if you have a local Children's Centre or one o clock club you could ask there as they may well have an idea of who might need things but might struggle to pay for them (or let you stick a sign up saying what you have).

yes thanks @Sexnotgender its just sad sometimes. absolutely getting a takeaway

Myleakycauldron · 29/04/2022 19:19

The little library boxes are a good shout @londonmummy1966 - we have a few around here too.

Today I've only got rid of a hair brush! But haven't tackled any particular area. My in laws are visiting this weekend so not anticipating a productive weekend.

IncessantNameChanger · 29/04/2022 21:05

I have done nothing today. Seen a shoe donation point which is good. Met another mum.to talk about our secondary searches for our SEN kids.

I'm doing a stage three complaint about my son disability SW so I mustn't get sucked down that wormhole. I find I get frustrated and sad about ds needs that when someone who paid to help me doesnt do their job I direct my rage at that. Not healthy but looking for secondaries is stressful.

Earmarked two pairs of shoes. I might tackle my underwear tomorrow

ememem84 · 30/04/2022 10:47

Had a tidy up in the house today. Binned two animal balloons which the kids brought back from party last week that were deflating. Also got rid of party bag boxes and all the plastic tat in them.

ddcanted the dregs of a shampoo into another.

finished a box of tissues - stinking cold here today. Eugh. Snot city.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/04/2022 12:45

I've had a good clear out of the bathroom in preparation to decorate it, lots of old bits and bobs in the bin. Walls all washed and prepped, ready to go! Except... I can't find the bloody paint :(

So looks like I'm decluttering the garage as well, as it MUST be somewhere in there, I only bought it a few months ago!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/04/2022 14:16

Panic over guys! paint found and several things listed on our local free site in the process.

Vinorosso74 · 30/04/2022 16:38

Item on Freecycle gone this afternoon. Feeling a bit better about shifting some of the bigger items now. Need to get DD's bike sorted and advertised for sale.

Sexnotgender · 30/04/2022 18:21

Slowly shifting stuff. Sold a nursing chair and a purse, another £250 in the bank.

I'm finding it quite cathartic!

Myleakycauldron · 30/04/2022 19:04

@Sexnotgender you are doing well, I've sold two things for £3 each this week - barely worth the effort! They pick up though, so saves a trip to the charity shop.

Nothing decluttered today as have family staying - but I did refuse stuff/crap said family had brought down to leave here!

Sexnotgender · 30/04/2022 19:09

I’m moving on the high value items and charity shopping the stuff that’s still good but I can’t be arsed selling. It’s quite addictive!

seperatedmum · 30/04/2022 21:36

2 unattractive magnets and 1 dried up nail varnish gone

EllieQ · 01/05/2022 10:06

Had time to do some decluttering yesterday 😊I had bought some summer clothes for DD last week, so I put them away in her wardrobe/ drawers, meaning her room looks tidier. I also found a few things to go in the bag of too small clothes (like @IncessantNameChanger I struggle to get rid of stuff straight away).

I took another bag of baby toys to the charity shop, and took a pair of old shoes to Schuh as they take them for recycling and you get a £5 voucher for each pair.

I also bagged up a pair of wellies and some barely-used plimsolls to take to school next week for their uniform collection.

It feels good to make some progress.

londonmummy1966 · 01/05/2022 17:05

Bag of textile recycling out yesterday and today DH took a boot full of stuff from the garage to the tip. Glad he's finally getting in to it!

Dug up some self seeded plants that are cluttering up the garden to take to a friends later on.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 01/05/2022 18:30

Not a bad day today, bag of plastic tat (the kind from kids magazines) thrown out, 2 things sold on Vinted and posted, hopefully someone coming for some baby toys later, and I've consolidated the vinegars for some proper middle class decluttering 😁
