some PE T-shirts only good enough for spares bagged ready to give to the school
a heavy bag of untouched I know it'd look bad if there was scribble in so I checked magazines bagged for that wet play stuff
some rubbish and recycling out from dining and of room
DS's main birthday present in to shed for now 😉

seperatedmum · 26/05/2022 20:05

@WildBlueAndDitzy you're probably right

Zebracat · 26/05/2022 22:36

It’s been a while since I posted here. I’ve been thru most of my wardrobe and cleared out 3 bags of clothes. Charity will collect on Monday.
I am making very slow progress with the summerhouse. I used a lot of leftover paint as undercoat, now started on the top coat. It’s really hard because all the stuff that should be in there is in the way everywhere else, and there really is too much for a very small space. We bought a new table and I wanted the old one as a desk in the summerhouse, but there’s also a couple of chairs and a massive wooden cupboard. I really dont want it all.
I want a chair, possibly a plant. Think my mindset is changing!

Myleakycauldron · 26/05/2022 22:38

posted quite a few bits on Facebook and olio so should hopefully get collected in the next day or so.

only proper 'outs' today was out of date baking powder left over from lockdown!

Nordicmom · 27/05/2022 01:23

While tidying up for MIL arrival I discovered how badly DH had cleaned up the fridge when our weekly food delivery came on Tuesday since he wasn’t feeling well then so I quickly emptied it it all , wiped it down and threw a bunch of old food away and recycled packaging .
From my clean laundry a few old socks and a T-shirt to rags .
A lamp broke so that’s going to dump although it’ll be replaced .
MIL brought DH old wetsuits ,he’ll decide which if all he’ll throw away .
I decluttered a old scratched school water bottle to recycling. I’ll have to throw away DD old stationary again ,I don’t know what she does with it at school . End of term we’ll put away her school shoes , trainers and socks at least too . Might have to declutter the skirts as well and get the next size up and any stained shirts .
I called about the ornament that arrived broken and I was told to just dispose of it and they’ll send me a replacement when it’s back in stock . Put two dry cleaners metal hangers to recycling. We sent the remaining two duvets off to be washed. Went to the attic room today and there’s still so much there to sort out it’s depressing but I was trying to look at all the boxes I have done that were neatly labelled . There’s more of them than stuff to still look through so that’s something . I’ve just got to chip at it one bit at a time I know and in the end it’ll be done . For one we need to wash the other set of sofa covers and then store them in a box too not in a bin bag as currently . Up late again . I better go to bed after showing a few more things in DS suitcase . In the morning DS is off on his trip with MIL . Feeling a bit nervous but he’s nearly an adult and travelled plenty of times without us just not recently…

Nordicmom · 27/05/2022 10:18

I managed to send DS on his trip this morning but now DD is off school sick and missing a school event so I’ll be decluttering a red T-shirt and blue and white scarfs she’d have used today but now we won’t need .
Also a stained DD nightgown going to the rag bank and not sure if I mentioned a promotional school water bottle going to charity from one of our school tours .
The dog has gone to his daycare and DH is working from home and also sick . DS was for a couple of days but seemed to have recovered in time for his trip thankfully . I can feel it coming , I’ve been extra tired and getting nauseous lately so I know my body’s fighting something .
The thought of the unfinished attic haunts me but I’ve only slept a couple of hours because I was nervous about DS trip so after eating breakfast a bit I’ll sleep more . I do need to go up soon or ask DH to bring me the 4 boxes from the storage locker to look through elsewhere to progress with it . I’m sure I can chip at it a bit by bit until we’re done .it just feels like an overwhelming mess and that wasn’t helped yesterday by the laundry racks , baskets of clean laundry waiting to be folded in the weekend and a big basket of hangers we put there while MIL was here for the night . Once we take them out of there it’ll be much emptier and will have some more room to manoeuvre . Otherwise it’s looking good there in the guest bedroom and the guest bathroom which are normally just used for laundry .

seperatedmum · 27/05/2022 11:05

those 2 bags went into the school early doors! had to go into work on my day off to meet new dentist 🙄 home now to attack hedge

SydneyCarton · 27/05/2022 11:38

Had a sort through DS's chest of drawers at the weekend and have filled a couple of carrier bags with too-small clothes for recycling. Also just spent 5 minutes going through one of the large kitchen cupboards which is full of pots, pans, Tupperware, candles, toothpaste, first aid supplies, etc etc etc and have reorganised and tidied a small corner of it 🙄

Found an unopened pair of breastfeeding shields (bit niche!) and three unused baby bottles which I've listed on Olio - I have found it pretty good for getting rid of stuff which falls between recycling and charity shop, though I often have difficulty getting the notifications

seperatedmum · 27/05/2022 16:12

got rid of a bag into clothes recycling on the school pickup but the school wouldn't take spare uniform when they did this morning so I'm stuck with that until the next uniform sale. STBXH taken some oft-moved stuff to dump so not much satisfaction in that 😕

Danascully2 · 27/05/2022 19:57

Have just agreed with other half that the two (!) outgrown pushchairs can both go to the tip. (Not as wasteful as it might sound, one is mouldy, other was secondhand to us so extremely well used and have had no luck putting things on local Facebook previously.t). So excited about getting rid of them both (pathetic I know...)

Myleakycauldron · 27/05/2022 21:43

Exercise bar sold on Facebook today and some foot oil (who knows where that came from?!) out.

Nordicmom · 27/05/2022 22:55

Didn’t do much today after being up all night and then sending DS off on his trip . I did the usual cleaning and tidying in the first two floors quickly which weren’t bad after yesterday’s efforts . Also did a bunch of laundry as always , lots more of it left though . . Not feeling great and DD and DH definitely unwell so might have to cancel all kinds of plans on half term .
I got rid of a book I just don’t like although I got it from my mum . I have other things she’s given so I don’t need to save this since I didn’t enjoy it . It’s been in a drawer for ages . Now I have 10 books in that drawer left to read . i also put 3 kids books to charity shop box .
I’m considering decluttering DS nice swimming trucks that have stains that didn’t come off with anything . Haven’t found new ones although he has a few other pairs .
In the weekend I’ll try to fold the clean laundry and if not too poorly work on the attic . Am feeling a bit nauseous though so then won’t want to move at all or do anything physical . I’ll aim to get something done up there in the holidays at least .

Nordicmom · 28/05/2022 20:37

DH &DD spent all aft waiting at minor Injury with her finger which wasn’t luckily broken . Two more of them now wrapped up in the same hand as her existing splint which should be coming off next week hopefully . I’ve just done the daily cleaning and a bunch of laundry and very nearly finished my good book so that’s going to charity . Also a couple of pairs of my old pants to rags . A few old wooden spoons to bin recently as well .
I’ve been feeling unwell but I’ll have to try to go to the attic tomorrow or Monday to work on it when others are home to keep company to the dog . The panniers should be going tomorrow night and DH is planning a dump trip possibly .

Hi all I’d like to join - similar to @Sexnotgender I’m moving country in about 4 months and looking round and taking a deep breath thinking about what needs to be sorted before then !

Good luck!!

We’ve finally confirmed our moving date - at the start of August. So realistically have 9 weeks 😭😭

Definitely making progress though not been actively posting here as life is hectic.

pitterpatterrain · 29/05/2022 15:18

Thanks sexnotgender good luck with it all - feel like it is only just starting but the number of things to sort out !!

but I want to definitely not ship a bunch of junk with us so decluttering is the way to go (hopefully 🤣)

Llamallamadingdong · 29/05/2022 16:39

Can I join please?! Moving in 2 weeks and trying to declutter by eBaying/free cycling and the olio app whilst packing at the same time.

Today we got rid of a kids board game and some old mugs on free cycle and I sold some skincare on eBay.

pitterpatterrain · 29/05/2022 19:10

welcome Llamallamadingdong good luck on your move

so far today 2 jigsaws, a pack of half used nappy bags out to share and some other bits and bobs in the bin

glad to get it all moving but then my heart sinks at the collection of bags from when we moved in 3 years ago that we haven’t even sorted …

LivingInaBuildingSite · 29/05/2022 20:37

Have been a bit awol recently but have done some sorting today:

got DD to go through her wardrobe, about 15 items ready for charity
one tshirt from ds1 that he never wears
2 scarves I don’t want to keep
slippers too small for Ds2

229+19=248

have also listed an unwanted keyboard on FB, it does have a broken key where a cat knocked it over so not sure anyone will want it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/05/2022 20:40

Bag of clothes into one of those Clothes Bank collections at the supermarket .
Next weekend we're having new wardrobes so lots of things going from A-B and hopefully a chance to get things looked at and sorted .

Any spare duvets and pillows will go into vacuum bags and I need to label them so I know whats there without opening . Probably a bit of paper inside with "Pillowx2" or "KS 4.5" then I'll know

Cleared the bathroom cupboard to put bottles with dregs out to use up .

A pair of leggings got thrown out as the waistband had split ( ones I wear to/from work)

Nordicmom · 30/05/2022 02:52

Up late again and will head to bed soon .
been in the attic tonight and gotten some good work organising done . Plenty left to do but I’ve gotten the boxes into better order and decluttered quite a few items too .

-1 broken plastic storage box to dump
-1 broken plastic shoebox to dump
-2 empty Lego boxes to recycling
-4 empty shoeboxes to recycling
-scraps of wrapping paper to recycling
-dd shorts to charity shop
-ds polo shirt to charity shop
-dd puffy gilet to charity shop
-dd designer welly boots to charity shop
-1 pair of mens ugg shoes to charity
-1 pair of kids ugg boots to charity
-1 new pair of kids ugg boots to sell
-1 new pair of mens designer trainers to sell
-1 pair of kids designer trainers to sell
-2 broken bits of kids art to bin
-1 messy wooden decorated container to bin
-1 pair of kids snow boots to charity
-1 pair of kids other welly boots to charity
-3 magazine holders to dump
-a couple of travel toiletries to foodbank
-2 packets of coffee to food bank
-old Christmas food to bin plus packaging to recycling
-a new wall calendar to charity
-a porcelain dish to sell
-new toddler flip flops to charity shop
so about 33 items out tonight from the attic

Quite a good haul but I’ve got the boxes of crystal and china to unpack and move to plastic storage boxes still that will take me a while ( DH has lifted the bubble wrap out of my reach on top of a cupboard grrr ) . Several other boxes left too of home edit containers and shoeboxes for instance, and the kids two memory boxes and 2 school boxes from the locker . I can do it I know just little by little and I’ve got to do more this week ! I always have a too long a break between getting on with it !

seperatedmum · 30/05/2022 10:34

youngest's birthday party yesterday so some presents in but there's no tat 🤷🏽‍♀️ messaged those 3 olio users (users is correct 😡) the crib lady told me a long tale but says she's happy to pass 🙈 so I've relisted, waiting for the other 2 to contact and collect. youngest has got a post-party comedown/kid hangover today 🫣

seperatedmum · 30/05/2022 10:45

the bike lady also told me a long tale but my understanding was that I was waiting for her to message me last Friday, anyway she's supposedly collected Monday coming

Nordicmom · 30/05/2022 10:49

A couple of more outs from attic I forgot about and otherwise
-2 cardboard boxes to recycling
-1 broken toilet roll holder lid to bin
-1 pair of toddler ugg flip flops to charity
-1 chipped glass to recycling

I’m itching to go back as DD is home and can watch the dog but I’ve got the customary 6 baskets of laundry to fold so I’ll have to do that also have decided I’m reading 100 pages of a book a day to get through my now 11 in the drawer ( after getting one from DH he’s read ) so need to finish yesterday portion and read todays 100. Also need the bubble wrap DH has put out of my reach and I suspect he forgot to get down for me so I might go up tonight instead to do more .
Our 2 remaining duvets are being returned today as well .

Nordicmom · 30/05/2022 10:55

@seperatedmum I hope your items will be picked up soon ! I was soooo relieved when our panniers were collected yesterday and we got a wad of cash to boot 😊! Next job for DH is to list the elliptical I can’t use and the others won’t since they both go to gym elsewhere and do other sports . I hope it won’t be impossible to get rid of due to size ! It does fold so maybe that’ll help a bit but it’ll need two people to carry it it’s quite heavy !
