Diagnosed adhd. Medicated (hooray!). But no amount of medication can help me do anything when my dc and dh are in the house.

Dc are teens BTW Blush

I work 4 days a week, term time only. On Fridays, I get shit done. Dh is also term time only. By the end of the summer holidays, the house us destroyed. Its just really hard to explain how bad it is.

Dh works really hard to keep on top of it but I'm just so messy that its an impossible task.

Today is my first Friday to myself for 8 weeks. I am so excited. Its going to take weeks to get this place straight but once it is, I'm getting a cleaner.

But then if you do get diagnosed, you can wonder if maybe they got it wrong! 😂 (probably the clearest sign of adhd)

😂so true

So true!

I would definitely be like this.

Oh wow. Have been diagnosed with ADHD. Got some health checks to do then I'm starting on meds.

In desperation today at work (wfh) I drank a can of the guarana fizzy drink 'focus' purple can.
Well that, and trying to do a days work in 90 minutes finally got some work done.

I just feel so defeated. The house is a mess, I'm not achieving what I should in my job. It feels like my head is actually broken :(

My DH tells me I must be so optimistic- as I'm always hoping I can change and not be an utter disaster. As I rocket into the next calamity. And no I never do learn.

Do I need an ADHD coach? Has anyone gone down that route?

That made me laugh @ADHDHDHDHD

I too always live in hope. Right Upto the last minute when things have gone wrong.

Yep! I neatly broke him with a party a few years ago. Left all the prep to the 1 hour before. As I reckoned I could do it in an hour. Well yes I could, moving at a million hours per hour and stressing everyone else out. Party went great.
But i promised him I'd never leave it that late ever again.

However if there is a crisis I'm brilliant. But a life full of that level of disaster is no fun at all.

Rummikub · 07/06/2024 22:29

Ha ha I always say I’m great in a crisis 😂

I have awful time management. Nearly missing 2 flights. One time I was so lucky they told me no time to check in hold baggage but just to go straight through to the plane where they took care of it. I had to run with my dc to make it. And yes I was hopeful I’d always make it 😂

I hate water bottles, they always taste of dishwasher and I feel like I can never get them fully clean. What I tend to do for water is buy a disposable bottle of water or some other drink, then keep refilling it until either I lose it or it gets hard to screw the lid on or it starts to grow algae inside, then I recycle it and buy a new one.

Actually I have also found the Guarana purple drink is good. I don't know why that one specifically. Supposedly Guarana is just a more herbal-sounding name for caffeine!

Ah no guarana is an actual plant that has brain stimulating properties.
It feels different than coffee for me.
I'm so curious to try the pharmaceutical meds to see the difference. I just want to be able to focus. I always described it as 'trying to think in a straight line'. Now I know why I can't. It's really shit.
I have worked so hard at everything but it just feels like swimming through treacle
