Welcome fledglings old and new, to April's Flylady thread!

For any newbies who have stumbled across us, we are following Flylady’s housework system which is based around routines and short bursts of activity to try to keep our houses and lives in order. (Sometimes we follow it more loosely than others). Feel free to join us, the more the merrier! We post our ‘ta da’ lists for motivation (no matter how long or short), and enjoy some random chatter along the way.

I’ll be posting links daily to keep us all on track. Jump in wherever you are, remember you are never behind.

This is a long running thread and we’ve developed some lingo along the way:
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry (hasn’t paid a visit to me for a while)
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod (we can be gentle if required)
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low, we are on strike, or we need a rest and some TLC

KCC - we don't do so many of these now, but these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

Zoo it is a win but i have to email some stuff to my tutor before i leave and still not finished it. i am struggling a little with one thing.

Morning! Dancing I used the BBC Good Food quesadilla recipe here. I originally found it when I was looking for something to do with left over roast chicken that wasn't risotto or pie, and it was a huge hit. I don't follow the recipe anymore, just chuck in what I've got, so last night it was salsa, spring onions, red pepper, tinned sweetcorn, a handful of olives, chicken and cheese. It's useful that all the DC can switch it up for their particular preferences.

Hills hope you get what you need to done this morning. I agree with zoo, everyone fed, nobody dead is a daily win to aim for.

Morning all, sorry, I have been AWOL, I seem to have been busy right through my waking hours for the last couple of days.

We are still in the boudoir flight plan - today we are clearing our nightstands, yesterday we were meant to tackle our clothes pile, I didn't even know that and just did it. DH however has a huge ironing pile. He wears rugby shirts to work and has about 30 of them so he only needs to iron them once a month

Aaaagh.

I know you’re a very busy lady Hills, but any chance you can pop up here (I’m assuming up, it’s up to most) and sort out my garden? Everyone fed and some studying does sound like the top two points on a to do list.

I loved the weaning stage Mc. I have so many videos of DD’s first tastes of things. She loves watching the broccoli and orange ones. Olives were the surprise hit with us although she doesn’t like them now. They faces they pull are so funny.

Foxes, don’t worry about us, just pop in when you can. Hope the new hours haven’t hit you too hard.

Hope you slept well after all that Waders. I haven’t tried pink stuff on the sink, will give it a go.

Wow 30 rugby shirts. Well I that does make sense.....he wont have to run around ironing in the morning.

I am going to try and make the evening meal now...and not leave it until I lose the will to live at after I pick up the kids.

DH brought me a cup of tea😁 I had a broken night from 3.30 -5 ? And then spasmodic waking and dozing. So still in bed but will be up after posting as going to DS 2 s haven’t seen him since Mother’s Day 😃

😇 I did my night stands🥴 yesterday. Didn’t do the drawer but I can close it now...good enough.

Dancing thanks perhaps the weather is helping and it has been like a bereavement in a way. I guess jobs that are more a vocation are and the Ass. head ( retired) that I used to work with said that was how I worked. A great compliment from her as she was very dedicated. We worked brilliantly together for years and years. I was rarely with just one person/ class though unless it was a very difficult class or had lots of pupils with SEN.

Waders I always think of him on his birthday and send a little prayer up. Just realised he would have been 40 last year. I didn’t realise it was so long ago. So much research has been done since.
Funny how trends come and go with babies and some go full circle.

Hazel great to hear from you and super that things are progressing. I would get a couple of plants you enjoy. You could do a couple of pots for the front door and maybe plant potatoes or a couple of tomatoes.i think if you are a gardener then you will appreciate the effort and the rewards even if the house is chaos.

MC great fun with new foods. DD got put in the high chair with veg sticks and later a bowl and two spoons because she was very independent. She fed herself at an early age as it was so busy. Her eldest brother liked to feed her too. Happy memories and do take a photo. I only have one of DD but it takes me right back. I photographed to stick in Development in my college file. Some of the others probably had them too.

I also fold the kondo way Red, even socks and knickers. Much easier to find what I want and stops me wearing the same few grotty pairs just because they are one the top.

I'm in desperate need of sorting my garden too, have read your post with interest hills have to say I'm clueless at gardening but I'm always telling myself one day I'll get into it.

Zoo what a morning you've had! Hope things have calmed down a bit now.

This morning did not start well here either, dd got her hair stuck in her comb and I had to cut a chunk off she was crying and was worried people would notice (they won't, her hair is tied back for school and it doesn't show)

Then I went shopping but forgot my list so just free styled it 😂 which means I have a lot of random things and I don't really know what to do for dinner. I'm thinking some sort of vegetable pasta bake as I have ricotta and a courgette that needs using. It's like ready steady cook!

Today is usually my day off but I've had to work because of the new hours I was hoping to do 3 hours this morning but only managed 2 so I'm already behind on the new schedule.

However, anti procrastination alert! I have called the bank, written a birthday card and cooked the red cabbage ready to portion up and freeze, all things I've been putting off for days and days.

Despite still having a million things to do I've decided to have a cup of tea and catch up on here. The kitchen now has piles of rubble in it and dh has moved half our stuff over to the new part so now I'm trekking backwards and forwards even more, I really need to sort that out soon.

Enough of my wittering I hope I will get the chance to pop by again later!

Look on the kitchen trekking as increasing your stepcount, foxes. Healthy lifestyle etc. Every cloud...🤣

Hiya, posted earlier but was the wrong thread oops!. I hope you’re all well, thank you all for welcoming me back. I will jump back into flying from today, as I let it all go to pot over the weekend. We went out to town yesterday, we did some charity shopping and I got some records. The weather isn’t as nice today so we’re staying home, DD fed a duck for the first time!. She won’t let us go inside because she wants to keep talking to them. If the weather picks up we might go for a walk to the park.

Dozed til phone woke me at 12

Throw pasty from fridge at D's on return and call that lunch(along pot rice pud and a pear)

Repeat chivvy dd2 to get ready.left for school ten minutes later than should've.she had massive panic attack en route..20 minutes late...
Ended up upstairs in hot "conference room" with locked window and HOY who took mask off..great covid protocols then..he must've realised we looked uncomfortable and put it back on
Anyhoo,upshot us DD will attend one lesson Friday (free period to spend first time with friends < who cannot go home as live to far etc to leave site >since october
Next week aim is couple those,plus one lesson each subject(3) outside in hallway so can hear what's going on,but not be in classroom
She was very stressed throughout shaking etc and has been telling at me since yesterday/up half night needing loo...
We left school 5mins after end of day,having text lil zoo to wait.they completely ignored me so I walked home faster leaving them to it
Dd2 yelled some more on return,had shower now in my bed and when pop in check her glowered at me and snapped I'm fine

Just about caught up.

Red - so pleased to hear you feel you are turning a corner. I remember going through similar . I am getting adverts for Rhino greenhouses on FB now as well!

Hills - we have a later last frost date even though we are very far south, we are in a frost pocket and can get them up to the last week in May (two years ago we had a proper, bird bath frozern rock solid one in that last week). This brings out a dilemma with planting out, if I wait I have to get everything out very quickly or they just don't get time to grow, especially if the summer turns out to be cool. So I aim for half term week.

I've been a bit behind with seed sowing this year, my sweetcorn, baby corn and sweet peas are all big and strong but most other things are only just germinating (tomatoes, cucumber, French marigolds a few other things). At the allotment I have lots of flowers self seeding which is nice and low maintenance, plus lots of raspberries and strawberries. I meant to look in at Lidl today and see if they have any strawberry plants as I'd like to get some more in, mine didn't sprout many runners last year) but I forgot.

I need to go and help DS with yet more revision, plus we've got some videos from an online uni tour to look at. Nowhere near as good as real open days but better than nothing.
