Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Morning! Brew for Zoo

No plaster falls in night thankfully!

DD has biology and chem this morning. No teen hosting required at lunch time though because it's the weekend so no revision groups in the afternoon. Just rushing around "clearing paths" ahead of cleaner. Need to catch up on "work" work and do some tidying in home office/boudoir.

Have a good day freezer diving everyone!

Morning all,

Cool and raining here this morning, very relaxing listening to it when I woke up and I made the right call by not bothering to water my allotment last night (although slugs will probably emerge and eat all
my newly planted seedlings). Now lying in bed with a cuppa and a cat nuzzling my hands. Must get up.

Foxes - so pleased about your job. I have a tricky colleague who likes to try and dump me in it every now and then and its not nice.

Cag - I haven't heard the word boozehound for years. I quite often escape to a local coffee shop for an hour, with my bullet journal and maybe a book to get uninterrupted thinking time.

Zoo - I bet you won't be the only one with late forms, hope its ok.

SC - ouch to ceiling plaster coming off, not what you need.

Paperwork morning planned here. I had a sort out yesterday looking for a lost form and managed to put together a long to-do list. Feeling a bit under pressure as we have some busy weekends coming up. This weekend will involve a lot of garden clearing as we have someone coming in to replace fencing next week, long overdue.

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/06/2019 07:22

cag i would take an induction yes, i have read they usually work if you have given birth previously as your body knows what to do. I have been looking into both induction and csections this time as i am at possible risk of baby being transverse or unstable lie.

Callmecordelia · 07/06/2019 07:28

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Feeling a bit better this morning. My Dad is being very supportive and kind, and does understand how hurt I am - he blames himself for asking me to do the organising.

Anyway, I think he's told Mum to pull herself together. He wants to go ahead as planned, and apparently Mum will be FINE.

I told him to sleep on it. He does go along with her for an easy life most of the time, but when it's really important he does stand up to her. I think this might be one of those times, and it is nice that I have one parent who gets that I put a lot of work in and my feelings are valid.

DH isn't sure whether having it here is a good idea - he doesn't think Mum can be trusted to behave. I'll talk to Dad about it this morning. The thing is, it's not just about her, I wanted to actually be an adult for once, and host an event and see my nieces and nephews. My daughter wants to show her cousins her room and where she plays.

To do
Washing
Tidying
Clean kitchen
Go to the gym

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/06/2019 07:28

Tada
Wash on
Bleach lav
Fed cats
Round up crisp bags, juice bottles etc
Collect discarded garments/belongings from disappearing down back sofas, off any available surface and return to homes
Sweep floors
Wash up last night's dinner thingsBlush
Help dress lil zoo for trip a+e
Send her off with dp
Wash in drier
More on
Wake dd2
Chop fruit to add to cereal
Wake dd2 again
Attempt wake D's from other sofa
Wake dd2 by yelling don't get up- no food
Make her pack lunch
Write shopping list for town
Just waiting her to get out bathroom so I can s+s...

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/06/2019 07:32

Good on your dad Cordelia! If your mum misbehaves she will just make herself look silly. I assume other family members know what she can be like already!

Zoo i bet your not the only one who hasnt got the forms back on time! Our school have only just sent out paperwork re induction week and activities!

I have made a start on uniform ordering. Check me out. Figure need to be organised due to baby due date. Ordered all polo shirts for dc2 and 3, plus shirts for dc1. Over £60 gone on uniform already! Dc1 has had more expensive shirts as i am told they really truely are non iron. We will see. I am rubbish at ironing shirts.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/06/2019 07:56

I've secondary uniform hellishly dear here compared primary..the year I had D's(he's number 3)I had all Xmas stuff bought by end Octoberand was ready for Xmas, bar perishables food shop by end November..never in my entire existence have I been that organised before or sinceGrin

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/06/2019 07:58

Cordelia that does sound hard with your mum, I'm glad your Dad understands though. I get what you mean about wanting to be the adult for once too, my parents house is much bigger than ours so we always used to go to them for Christmas but I never felt properly grown-up till we decided to offer to host despite our cramped conditions. I like our little house a lot but would like to be able to host more people occasionally.

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/06/2019 08:02

Yes to secondary uniform being much more expensive, DS's isn't too bad as he can wear supermarket trousers and shirts and mostly generic PE kit he never wears blazer or jumper so after buying secondhand for y7 I never replaced as he grew. DD's is more expensive (different school) and they changed it last year which means no secondhand stock and I can't sell her old
stuff on either, grrr.

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/06/2019 08:17

Jumper and blazer are compulsory at the school ds1 is going to. They have to be worn at all times. They have to ASK to take them off if it is hot. Hmm They also arent allowed to wear shorts even in mid of summer to his disappointed.

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/06/2019 08:28

Yes, jumper and blazer compulsory for DD too, but they are allowed to take them off.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/06/2019 08:36

DS school also have keep them on unless given permission to remove them.uproar last year as staff in shirt sleeves in heat saying no to removal.parents kick up and they softened on it sharpish!pe kit and blazers most expensive bits...

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/06/2019 08:36

Lil zoo is back severe sprain to wrist

TooStressyTooMessy · 07/06/2019 09:01

Ah Cordelia Flowers, how unnecessarily stressful for you.

Hope lilzoo wrist is ok zoo.

Aaaggh secondary school uniform Angry. I am actually a massive fan of uniform but when it is realistically and fairly loosely enforced. Not in the batshit way that some secondaries do it. Glad to hear about a bit of parent power last year zoo Smile.

Cagliostro · 07/06/2019 09:17

Oh no zoo! Better than break though I guess.

Ah Ive I had no idea there were risks of a different lie, is that due to the SPD? All my labours were induced (DD1 low fluid, DS overdue, DD2 worried about slow growth), I’ve never had to do the “oh crap waters have gone” rush to hospital and never timed contractions myself! It’s true it’s normally much quicker/easier if not your first.

DH has already left for the hospital, it’s the rheumatology appt he had to rearrange last week because it clashed with the one that didn’t exist (basically what happened is they sent two letters for the rheumatologist appt, but one of them they selected the wrong option on the department list, so it looked like he had two different apps! Thankfully they are refunding the bus pass money as it was their mistake and we can’t afford to lose it)

Should probably tidy up a bit, DSD coming at 11. She will also be collecting the BTS lifesize cut out so no more Korean boy staring through Cagletini’s cot bars :o

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/06/2019 09:22

Cag the risk is because its a fifth baby, apparently my uterus will be tired and stretched. Baby may decide to use it as a hammock or just not settle in a head / bum down position due to it being so stretchy Blush this then makes it a risk for the cord coming down first and other things! I havent seen a mw for ages, there at 28 weeks so see what she says however he definitely is still changing position lots as movements are all over the bump. Apparently they expect them to be going to head down by 28-31 weeks.

Cagliostro · 07/06/2019 09:24

Ah I see!

Going to be a long morning, Cagletini screaming for no apparent reason, DS hyper. Yaaay

Cagliostro · 07/06/2019 09:57

He, you say? Did I miss/forget it’s definitely a boy then 💙

Argh DD’s head is itching and I can’t find the nitty gritty comb

Singingcricket · 07/06/2019 10:49

Hope baby I've opts for a helpful position soon! Bear

Sympathies over ££££ uniform Expletive the price of it is shocking here! Like Toostressy I am a fan of it, but only when rules are sensible! (Not being able to take blazers off in summer is nuts imho Zoo!) No blazers here but can wear classic roll neck under jumper and shirt when cold. Good quality jumper and skirt with logo mega pricey but luckily, initially bought them very large initially and as ds has gone up school, the fashion has evolved to roll up the skirt and tuck in and pull down jumper to sort of reduce it in size - teens eh Grin - so I haven't had to buy larger sizes yet Grin.

The uniform is very recognisable though ( no uniforms in schools generally here) - DD frequently gets stopped in the street by "old girls" - so like to have it looking respectable, which in our household means a lot of washing (and very frequent removal of mud, dog and horse hairs Grin) The most sought after piece of kit though is the "rheto jacket" which is a baseball jacket type thing for their equiv of last year of sixth form, with their name emblazoned on the back and all the classmates names alongside. It's a different design each year and much prized; a kind of recognisable "talisman" for surviving all the years of academic hell they put them through I suppose. DD will be eligible for it in two years if she gets through (not at all certain with only 50% students passing end of every year to go on to next). She is playing it very close to the wind this year so could go either way ... [chews nails].

Anyway, the good news this morning is that dh has a load of client calls and hasn't had time to set me work, so beyond updating journal insets and filing, I have no more boring admin to do! Yay! So (using Toostressy's earlier post about friends as inspiration/sharp stick) I phoned friend to come for "spontaneous" coffee this morning so just waiting for her now but she is 40 mins late and no text so hope nothing wrong. Think coffee might turn in to lunch at this rate!

Have a good afternoon everyone!

Hi everyone, hope everyone getting on okay today. We've been out all day first to watch dd in a school marathon which was very sweet (goodness me she's competitive though! Her house team won and she was jumping up and down like she had won single handedly Grin) . Then me and ds went to the supermarket and had a snack at the cafe. He his actually asleep on the sofa now, woohoo! He really needs some sleep.

Lately i am always glad the week is over! Wishing my life away!

Wet miserable day here today ☔

Zoo i have often wondered about the state of Sue Radfords body. Like mine is disintegrating before my eyes!

And yes baby is a boy. Well so i have been told. If he comes out a girl however somehow my dd will be over the moon!
