No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

I've marmite is the cats pyjamasI also love marmite rice cakes and marmite cashew nuts...there's lots b bits, folic acid in particular and bit iron in marmite.im told b bits fight morning sickness too ..how's that going now?

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/03/2019 21:07

*vits,not bits!!

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 21:08

Couldn't agree more Cag! I can't learn a thing without seeing it written down or writing it down myself. DD the same!

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 21:11

It's deffo "a thing" Zoo = hyperosmia

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 21:33

sc that's the cook book dd got for her birthday , a big DK one for children, it's got great recipes in it and really easy for her to see what to do even without being able to read the instructions herself. It's great!

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 21:37

Yep cag, sc I can't learn anything unless I physically have a go at it myself. Nothing goes in if I listen to someone telling me instructions!

ChicCroissant · 17/03/2019 21:53

There is a FB Flylady UK Group, it's lovely and I would recommend it. They do a bingo game on there, you number tasks on your to-do list and at a certain time, they give you a number and you do that task!

If anyone tries to join, there are two questions to answer and without that you may not be approved - so do answer the questions and if you don't see them, one of us who is on there can invite you if necessary.

Better go and do some washing up, back shortly ...

Foxes so those cookery bks are great reading tools too! Glad your dd is enjoying hers!

Thanks Chic much appreciated. Will investigate!

Meet0nTheledge · 17/03/2019 22:39

Lots of chat tonight Smile

Smells - I'm another who hates artificial fragrances, I use Aldi washing powder as it is virtually fragrance free, no fabric conditioner (I can't bear fragrance on my clothes or bedding), hate Zoflora and am very divided on Method. I like the almond floor cleaner and lavender spray but the rhubarb spray almost makes me heave, I bought it once, never again (sorry Holly!)

I love Marmite though, bought a huge jar today. Haven't done them for a while, but we used to get Warburtons thins, spread the inside with butter and marmite mix, cut them into slices and bake till crispy, very moreish!

Foxes well done on the 5k!

Zoo - its lovely that the people at your church are so kind to DS. Hope DD2 feels better tomorrow, my DD has only had one really bad month in 2 years so far.

Flying wise, several loads of washing dine and line dried, living room floor tidied and hoovered (coffee table still piled with random crap Blush), weekly shopping at Iceland and Sainsburys done and put away.

ChicCroissant · 18/03/2019 09:36

Difficult morning already, SC?

DD is going down with a cold (again!) but has happily plodded off to school. I am sneezing myself now so will work on having an effective morning in case the day goes downhill later Grin

To-do - handwashing, cleaning , tidying, ironing/laundry. Pay bill. Check emails. Get boxes for items still out of cupboard that got wet, it needs a bit longer to dry out I think!

Catch you all later must be productive today and have an earlier night too

Welcome Nikki Smile

zoo Shock.

SC Brew

Welcome

Had a lovely day away to see in laws and friends yesterday; got back late(ish) and tired though so need to to some tidying today.

Also have acquired 8 wine glasses from in-laws. Lovely but we really don’t need them (I know should donate somewhere but can’t get away with that so soon after being given them) so will need to find a place for them somewhere Confused.

Ta da:-
Washer and dishwasher were on before we left for school run. Woop woop.

I am a terrible cook. Perhaps I need to start with a children’s cookbook. I hate cooking though so want something easy. Would you all still recommend the DK cookbooks for an adult who needs to learn Blush?

Sanguineclamp · 18/03/2019 10:25

I would Toostressy as they cover all the basic techniques and the recipes are good!

Mary Berry has published a "How to Cook" book and another "The perfect xyz: step by step" (something like that) both of which you might find useful. I don't always rate her savoury recipes but her technique is very sound indeed (for learning purposes).

With cooking though, so much of it is on-the-spot decision-making (is that sauce thick enough? should I add acidity? have I cooked it long enough?etc etc) for which you need confidence and experience. And the best way to gain those is by doing a course, or at least following recipes demonstrated on You Tube. It is absolutely possible to learn how to cook - just as it is possible to learn how to paint or draw -- there are techniques which can be taught.

Believe me, I was an utterly crap cook when I was first married and then when I moved here. I wasn't particularly interested in food either. Moving to a country which is food obsessive (always one or two food related items on the news every night!) and marrying a man who is a food obsessive, meant that I had it forced on me (almost against my will ) and I learned over time. Now I'm a competent cook and fat but I cringe to think of the meal I served to dh's boss when I first arrived: burnt shepherd's pie and tropical fruit brochette! Bad concept, badly executed! Thank God those days are over. This was a guy who had eaten in Michelin restaurants all over the world but he was so charming about it I thought I'd done a good job! I was utterly deluded Grin Blush

Just telling you all that so you know it is something you can definitely learn Toostressy - it's not some magical instinctive thing - so don't worry about it! You are in control of the ingreds!

Sanguineclamp · 18/03/2019 10:32
foxessocks · 18/03/2019 12:31

I totally agree sc, its definitely something you need to perservere with. I often use kids recipe books toostressy, I've still got mine from when I was little Smile , no reason why not! I do love the DK one dd has, really great ideas.

So busy today, feel slightly panicky at the amount I've got to do. But that's not helpful so I'm attempting to just relax about it, what will get done will get done and the rest - tough!

Epic list zoo Smile

ChicCroissant · 18/03/2019 13:56

Going well here, have cleared space in DD's bedroom! She has far too much stuff, need to start parting company with a lot of it. Mind you, still growing so clothes clearing seems constant Hmm

Had lunch, morning has gone really fast actually. Got about 40 mins in house now, may split it between a couple of rooms. See you later on tonight fledglings!

We’ve done so much work today that DD is worn out Blush oops

I must remember to let them have a break after a few bits of work so they don’t burn out
