Stepping forward in October: the new look fledgling Fly thread.

OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September !

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

• Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
• Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual and and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

What about some magazine boxes I bought some gorgeous ones from Smiths you can pile stuff in and turn it around so it looks good in the room. The ones that stand up they are hard cardboard.

Busy afternoon. I am annoyed at myself for being disorganised and not getting to the game shop earlier as the shelves were virtually empty 😰😱 but probably for the best as I would’ve spent a lot more!

Anyway we got the baby shoes, the whole patent thing was a moo(t) point as they suggested the first stage shoes anyway - although she can walk really well, she does still crawl too. And the patent ones of those I didn’t really like anyway. Actually got her ones from the boys section as I like the colour better (dark red).

Then saw her toddling round the shops and got her one of those backpacks with reins attached. She’s growing up 😭

I have been up an hour and achieved 1 load of washing in the machine only
All the things to do today and fucking hell it got cold. Hard frost on the ground this morning - they had the gritters out last night.

Morning all. I’m annoyed this morning as I slept downstairs with the snotty baby (so woke up frequently) and DH’s phone woke me up 😡

Trying to do lists every day this month so yesterday’s ta da
✅remembered to get dinner stuff out to defrost
✅made it out despite the rain
✅said goodbye to game shop 😭
✅bought shoes and reins/backpack (she is enjoying them sc she keeps picking them up and “asking” to have them on!)
✅finally bought a couple of birthday presents for baby
✅got a birthday present for a friend of the Caglets
✅updated home ed diary with the last few days - determined to keep up with this as it really helps give me a boost seeing how much we’ve done... much like the ta da lists!

Although in terms of housework that is fuck all. Place is a tip. DH having a lie in - which is absolutely fair enough as I get up last pretty much every day when the others take baby off my hands, I’m just grumpy due to lack of sleep - I’m stuck under baby and thinking nothing is going to get done this morning and he’s working later and I’m dreading the afternoon/evening 😡

Ds3 has been coming down with cough / cold / possible ear infection all week. It now seems to have fully taken over and i cannot move away from him

Morning all joins Zoo in the naughty corner as I have done nothing yet.

However last night I drove car and wrist seems ok with it. GP says I can now. Went to nearby small M&S and bought some nibbles to go with tea eg houmous, vegan ball things (memory gone) that DD likes etc
Then we discovered the £10 meal of 2mains &2 sides had two vegan curries in it. So we had two one Thai one, indian, jasmine rice & samosas. Made that and then enjoyed Harry Potter. So we have the picky tea things for tonight. Will add in something we make today.

Relax as it is Sunday.

Had a McDonald's breakfast this morning it was just what I needed to energise me to get a bit done! we're just sitting down quietly now as ds upstairs in his bed so just waiting for him to go to sleep. Dd is painting in the kitchen very quietly 🌟

Tonight's dinner is mince cobbler and veg and I need to do some more laundry and hoover downstairs. Apart from that I think it's going to be a chilled out rest of day (I hope...)

I have barely done any actual flying this week though, just about doing the daily stuff but not decluttering or detailed stuff on top. Must try better.

WTF IS WRONG WITH THE ANIMALS PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN MY HOUSE?!!!!

I've just bulldozed front room,kitchen and landing and filled two BINBAGS of rubbish/stuff I said pick up or I will bin it.mainly lil zoo as she's got more attitude than knows what to do with and encourages the others to follow her example drop it where she sits as "it don't matter,not like mum's cleaning up at mo anyways"
I've just totally lost my shit and shouted in most unmotherly way at the girls.....

Hoover fell down on me twice,no one even shout out are you ok and it bang its way down the stairi could've fell and be dead at bottom and they'd only notice once teatime had past unfed

Wipe round food bowls
Give up on floor,other than sweep up stray litter(desperate for a wash but I was losing will to live)
Attempt empty litter tray.cemented clumping litter wouldn't come off bottom so scraped out worse n top up.think need new tray and different litter
Thought about zoolets rooms,then thought better of it on visual contact......that counts right?

Unearth floor from detritus crisp bags,drink bottles,discarded stationery and more paper screwed up than small copse if trees could produce--thanks lil zoo)
Locate computer table from discarded apple cores,more drink bottles and various sweet wrappers,stationery and more scraps paper.clear under it of similar items(rotting banana skin anyone?)
Sweep located floor
Pick all rubbish items off table

Still needs clear properly all floors need sorting and laundry ah yes hahahaha.scattered all four corners of house

It's been a week since I did anything resembling decent routines and it showed

I refuse sort laundry.if look like neglected kids then hard cheddar,if can't even be arsed put in baskets or bring it for washing at nearly 11,12 and 15 that's a very poor show

I attempt make popcorn in cheap no stick pan for dd2 to eat as she's requested watch movies and snuggle tonight as she's having her braces tightened tom and knows be n soup for dinner...its base clearly not thick enough and burnt stinking out kitchen with thick black smoke in less than a minute!!
You will never how fast I had to move to throw open back door and windows and furiously flap t towel before smoke alarm went into overdrive and a bugger to stop once it gets going Usain bolt has nothing on my sudden sprinting skills!!

She's that desperate for popcorn has shed cosy fluffy pjs after a bath n trudge corner shop with wet hair in search of some(and yes I did make her get dressed.many in our 'hood happily wander around in pjs but not my lot on my watch!!)

Oh dear Zoo, sounds like you are having a bit of a nightmare. If it's any consolation I love your very descriptive writing style, you have a talent for writing an entertaining post even in your times of woe

Well today has mainly consisted of laundry and cooking - unlike yesterday when it rained all day it has been perfect drying weather so three lots of washing done and line dried. Made some chutney with stuff from the allotment and cooked a roast dinner. Off to do a bit of ironing before Strictly.

Did anyone watch the Apprentice this week? I started last night and fell asleep around the time the boys found all the shops were shut for siesta, is it worth finishing? I know which team lost but not which person got fired I know who I'd like it to have been

meet I watched it and found it fairly entertaining in a switch off your brain and just enjoy some trash TV kind of way I do like the apprentice just to laugh at them all in the early weeks!

I've got Sunday evening blues now. The dc are in bed and I've got chocolate but it's going to be a very full on week next week and tbh I'm just going to try and get through it with my sanity in tact.

Foxes, I've just finished watching now. Although I think that possibly the wrong person went, I'm glad to see the back of the one that did go, deeply annoying personality.

I haven’t watched the apprentice in years. Maybe I should as it might help fill the sleb masterchef void.

Very blah day here. Cagletini super snotty and other than the odd period of being ridiculously cute (giggling at her new bag/reins, and waddling around the garden in her shoes) she has mostly been a clingy grumpy nightmare. So have just been struggling to get anything done and there may have been a lot of take out food today.

✅sorted through Caglets’ clothes, they put aside all the outgrown and tatty stuff and I wrote down the minimum they need in next size up. Spoiler alert... fuckloads 😭😭😭
✅checked what next size up stuff I already have for baby, I buy some stuff in sales in bigger sizes, but she will definitely need to go into 12-18 very soon so I’ll need to just bite the bullet and buy. Again, fuckloads.
✅put together an Asda George order for some of the basics to save time traipsing round shops - underwear socks joggers sleepsuits etc between the three of them
