OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Morning Brew

Tomorrow would have been my little sisters birthday but she died a few years ago, i must take some flowers to the cemetary at some point. 🎂 for lilzoo, is she turning 11?

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 06:14

The sodding same here Zoo! Smile Busy day ahead but can I sleep? Nope, I'm bloomin' wide awake (sigh) and have been for an hour or so. Still, at least we had the extra hour !

Ooh yes, dead jealous of home grown pumpkins Meet! You should feel smug! Grin (Kicking myself because that's another thing I didn't get done this year !) Glad you are back home safely and hope wm rallies!

Love the gunny worm recipe Hills!

I managed to post my standard Halloween menu on the totally wrong thread last night (obviously can't handle even one glass of wine any more!) but don't know how to c &p more than one-liners on this tablet thing so will post later.

Sounds like a good plan re: dinner Cag. As it happens, I was having very similar thoughts last night. DD had been very upbeat and pleasant all day and with it being Strictly/Sat night, I served dinner considerably later than normal, and noticed that she underwent a mahoosive hangry personality change beforehand. (I've noticed this before but not to same extent.) She went from bright and breezy to morose and pale in about half an hour! It really was quite shocking! When I asked her what was wrong she said she was starving (having not bothered to mention this in typical teen fashion!) and she looked really pale all of a sudden. Just shows, even at 15 yrs and on a casual Sat night, I need to be more on top of food timings (or have healthy snacks to hand) as she gets really low blood sugar I think. (Sorry, that was an essay.).

Anyway, what I was going to say was that thanks to Flylady I've found nightly catering so much easier since making it (the prepping etc) the very first thing in my "to do" list every morning, so maybe that might help Cag? Also, prepping once and serving twice?

Foxes glad you enjoyed some retail therapy! And your tale of ds putting himself on the naughty step made me cackle Grin

Dont worry Toostressy I haven't looked at holiday missions either!! Grin

Sorry, so many posts last night that I'm a bit muddled about who I've replied to, and who I haven't! Can't scroll very well on this device! I hope that's everyone but apologies if I've missed anyone out!

Hope all Fledgling dcs have a happy time celebrating Halloween this week!

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 06:18

I've I'm so sorry to hear that, and so very sorry for your loss Flowers.

Words are inadequate really. Sad

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 28/10/2018 06:23

Zoo my sister was AMAZING, i try to make it a positive day, a celebration of her. Infact i may get a cheesecake for after tea tomorrow Smile

Hope lilzoo has a lovely day!

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 28/10/2018 06:41

Do you find her hard to buy for with being so close to christmas zoo Ds3 turned 2 a couple of weeks ago and i am now clueless as to what to get him for christmas. He is probably going to end up with every bit of Toot Toot going!

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 28/10/2018 06:41

Oh and i quit the crap job. Left with slight bang after informing manager they are crap. Oops

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 28/10/2018 07:37

Ive Flowers. Cheesecake sounds like a lovely idea. Will be thinking of you and your sister tomorrow.

Wow, how did your exit from the job go then? Did you tell them in person they are crap?!

Happy birthday for lilzoo tomorrow Cake. My DD1 has a birthday soon too. I don’t find it hard to buy now as she tends to present us with a very long wish list so there is generally no shortage of things to choose from Hmm. Have been trying to work on her room in preparation for ending space for any new birthday presents she gets.

I love the fact that you haven’t looked at the missions either SC Grin. Was going to look last night then ran out of time. Maybe tonight Confused.

Ok, can’t stay in bed any longer as both DDs up and watching telly (the joys of them getting a bit older SmileSmileSmile). I need to sort out caffeine and breakfast and then look into prepping lunch as DH is making a roast when he gets home - so true what you say about needing to plan food SC.

Hoping to have a tidying and planning day today. Might not achieve that but we have a busy week coming up. Half term here and lots of activities booked which is great. Hoping that means we can have today as a lazy ish day or at least a lazy morning.

Hopefully to do today:-
DD1 party planning - need to make a list of things still to do and a list of what to do on Friday.
Halloween planning, need to dig out a witch’s hat for me Halloween Grin and plan what DDs are wearing for it.
DD1 bit more room decluttering
Also need to do a calendar check. I have come to accept in school holidays that I need to do a full check the night / day before to see what we have going on the next day as different activities need different stuff so unless we have a lazy morning like today I need to have stuff ready the night before.

What a ramble! Must get up.

Big wing flaps to all Halloween SmileHalloween SmileHalloween Smile

foxessocks · 28/10/2018 08:03

Well as you all know planning food is my favourite thing to do, it's the only chore-related thing I'm truly good at! Grin

I've I'm so sorry about your sister , enjoy the cheesecake and I'll be thinking of youCakeFlowers also well done on quitting the job!

Ds was in our bed from midnight last night and up at 5 although we did convince him to lie back down for a while. I'm tired and aching from being kicked elbowed by ds.

We were going to go to a little farm today but I think it's meant to rain so might rethink. I could do with doing some work and my next run for couch to 5k. I need food now...

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 08:29

Foxes food for thought here but maybe wait a few years before making this first one Wink this is my standard Halloween repertoire if having loads of dc and adults around served with pumpkin soup and sometimes toffee apples... also made pizzas one year with mozarella type ghost shapes on but can't find recipe ...maybe there isn't one.
witchy fingers
meringue ghosts. (I just make a red berry compote with these and use chocolate chips or currants for eyes.)
mummy hot dogs
goblin pies

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 08:29

A celebration with cheesecake sounds lovely I've!

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 08:33

It wasn't this one but was similar to it ghostly pizza

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 08:34

Apologies I've really inappropriate (and stupid) to tuck that post between two recipes posts I don't know how that happened.

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 28/10/2018 08:37

No appologies required sc Smile

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/10/2018 08:48

I've she's hell to buy for fullstop as if it's not specifically wanted won't even look twice at it
In spirit decluttering I've taken charge dp you are dismissed and she having
Ballet pumps

Lil zoo is now delegated chief stair hooverer and is in action as I write!Grin

Must get started!!

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 09:11

Thank you I've Smile.

I'm meant to be packing car for wreck2 but now I'm not sure what to do because dd's kind invitation from her aunt to spend a few days in another European capital has suddenly changed from next w/e to now (yikes), so all I've done this morning, despite having been up for hrs, is walk dog, empty dw, jabber on the phone, and dither about. Gah! Don't know whether to change entire half term plans to fit in with changes (including dhorse plans) or just carry on as intended by myself (more complicated than it sounds) arrgh. Again, where is dh when I need him? He's so good at being flexible and adjusting to last minute stuff and I'm so crap at it it's untrue!! Still, DD thankfully seems to know what she is doing and is trying to find a non-extortionate train ticket on-line.

Anyway, if I'm not back on here for a bit, it's because I'm trying to get things sorted. Have as relaxing a Sunday as humanly possible everyone!

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 09:15

Well done Lil' Zoo!
Zoo that looks like plenty of presents to me (and really nice ones at that) for an eleven year old. Enjoy the crocheting!

Cagliostro · 28/10/2018 09:17

Morning all. Just popping on as iPad is about to give up, I need a new charging cable. Hoping it’ll stop raining.

Ive 💐

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/10/2018 11:09

So the sleep = insomnia
The clock change was skipped by one person who thought they overslept so were running late and crashed through the house like a herd of stampeeding rugby players

I have a migraine and a crap ton of stuff to do. Supposed to be going away tomo, don't think it is going to happen Haloween Sad

Also interested in what Sabrina’s like steg Halloween Smile.

Hope you feel better soon Hills.

Those presents seem good to me zoo (disclaimer: don’t know any 10/11 year old girls!).

Ta da:-
Achieved day at home so far
DD1’s bedroom looking better
Cleaned and tidied a drawer in the kitchen - not planned but couldn’t actually fit the pans back in so bad to empty it all out so thought I may as well clean it
Some prep done for tomorrow
Cooking tea now
Talked to DD1 about her holiday homework

To do:-
Tea

Later... sewing. Aaaaaggh. DD1 reminded me I need to sew some badges on for her for tomorrow. I hate sewing and need to concentrate on it so am planning to do it later on tonight rather than attempting it with awake kids. Planning to put A Bad Mom’s Christmas on as have been wanting to rewatch it for ages but feel too guilty to waste time and sit down and enjoy it. Why?????????! Sewing will be the perfect excuse.

foxessocks · 28/10/2018 15:07

Ta da
Week 1 run 2 complete!

But I haven't done anything else. Need to get some motivation before I waste the rest of today Confused . My legs have turned to jelly after the running though! Dh about to show me how car seat fits in then it'll be time to wake ds up and get some housework done before I start dinner. And need to get dd things sorted for back to school.
