OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Well, just for you lot I finished Sabrina. I loved it. Lots of little nods to the old series, but this is super dark and grown up.

The work is going slowly today, I'm getting shattered quickly so am doing an hour working, then an hour off. However, I am now at 23 bags either ready for the charity shop or binned.

Excavating the cupboard under the sink was enlightening. What the hell do we need six bottles of air freshener for? 26 dish sponges? Four bottles of carpet cleaner? No buying of cleaning products for us for a very long time now!

foxessocks · 28/10/2018 16:37

Sounds good steg I might watch it later. I sometimes do fifteen minutes chores fifteen minutes rest then other times I do a whole hour in one go. Not sure which is more productive but you sound super productive at the moment anyway!

Ta da
Car seat lesson (I am unbelievably hopeless at stuff like that!)
Cleaned bathroom
Ordered a few accessories for fancy dress party (not Halloween party though!)
Dishwasher emptied and reloaded
Washing on (finally)
Tidied living room and kitchen

Thanks for the Halloween recipes sc btw I can't remember if I said that sorry! I'm spoilt for choice now!

I need to start dinner in a minute, we are having three cheese pasta bake tonight.

Gawd what I would do for a teleportation machine Hills!

Well done everyone with all your lists; you've all been incredibly productive! Particularly on a Sunday!

I've done incredibly badly today. No Flying and haven't even made it to mass. Made necessary revisions to holiday plans. DD now safely installed with her aunt for a couple of days. Walked furry on way back from station and then felt absolutely shattered when I got in. Surveyed the mess and promptly wasted what was left of the afternoon. Hopeless! Confused

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/10/2018 19:25

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 28/10/2018 20:15

Oh no, best laid plans Zoo Flowers, that's such a shame. But hats off to your long list of things achieved. Hope you can have a bit of well earned relaxation this evening.

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/10/2018 20:43

Wrapped lil zoos gifts.dd2 wrapping her offerings as we speak!

SC evenings aren't relaxing sadly as D's at his worst this time of night...

Watching TV waiting for him to appear in panic attack mode- dd2 threatens violence if she doesn't get bare minimum hour.thats about up!!!

Cagliostro · 28/10/2018 21:53

ta da
✅had a lie in, stopping just short of telling DH to fuck off when he came in to say good morning (I don’t mind in principle but unlike him I really struggle to doze back off) 😳
✅apologised for/explained aforementioned snappiness
✅2 washes, now both in dryer together
✅got Caglets to shower
✅had a brief nap when baby did
✅another last minute trek into town, walked there and got bus back
✅bought charging cable and have already stashed box and receipt in safe sensible places (ie not the random sort of safe place I’ll never remember - cable box and document file respectively)
✅exchanged lovely onesie mum bought which had hole in, they swapped no quibbling so she’s wearing it now
✅put up with UNBELIEVABLY IRRITATING DS bloody hell he has been on one today
✅bought milk etc, and a different type of sippy cup for baby as she doesn’t drink water really
✅takeaway and supermarket pudding for dinner 😳
✅got Caglets to pack their bags for tomorrow, as is the new routine I’m determined to stick to (bedtime was otherwise non existent because tired and stressed - DH out from 9am and not home yet (I know that’s small fry compared to many) but this is a key thing I want to work on.

Cagliostro · 28/10/2018 21:54

People coming round early for Japanese tomorrow so need to clear up, then I’m off for tooth extraction. They don’t even think it’ll work (just worth a try type thing but my roots are super twisted 😖🙄)

Aaaaaaargh

Well cagletini is nearly asleep 🙄 I did say bedtime has been non existent today!

Meet0nTheIedge · 28/10/2018 23:14

Lazy morning here, then several loads of washing (DH generously agreed to check the filter after hearing the clanking noises and sure enough pulled out several coins). Did vague menu planning and weekly food shop.

Then getting all the school uniforms, PE kits etc sorted for back to school tomorrow, filled in various forms, took DD swimming and cooked dinner (Thai green curry). Helped DS make a cake.

Watched Strictly results with DD, I have been making lots of crochet Christmas decorations and needed to sew in 100s of ends, DD was making pompoms.

You should go for the crochet Zoo, once you've mastered the basics it is a great hobby, relaxing and productive and addictive.

Stressy - hope you got the badges done. I have a big pile sitting by my bedside, I have to do them before Remembrance Sunday.

SC - well done on surviving drastic change of plans, hope things get back on a more even keel soon.

Happy birthday to your ddzoo!

Thinking of you I've

The dc are up and having breakfast ready for back to school today. And I have got so much to do today, all my Monday chores plus first full day in new role on my own. We'll see how much I can get done. Ds off with my mum as soon as we've taken dd to school.

Happy Monday everyone! Those on half term enjoy your first day of the holidays.

foxessocks · 29/10/2018 07:19

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 07:36

😡 at DP zoo and happy birthday to littlest zoolet ⭐️
Huge hugs to ive hope you can have some time to celebrate your fabulous sister today 💐
Good luck in new job role foxes
Hope everyone else ok and having a good day. It’s back to “school” here, kicking off with a Japanese session that I’m not remotely prepared for. TBH I’m not expecting much from this week, as I will be in no fit state this afternoon (must set some work for DH to do with them) and then we have social Halloween stuff Tuesday and Wednesday. Then Thursday which should be my last nightmare one (as after that DH is meant to have them off, although I’m dreading finding out what shift he has to do instead). Friday we are going to a home ed Day of the Dead party. So I will just be trying to fit in as much “proper” work around the edges as I can.

Must jump in the shower now and then spend an hour cleaning up. Oh and we also need to order the shopping tonight which is making me frankly rather anxious as it includes all the Halloween treat making stuff, so I need to actually work out what we will be attempting to make and what is needed and how much. I am not good with that sort of thing.

Uggggh must get up.

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/10/2018 07:49

As predicted I am not going away on holiday Haloween Sad Off to work instead. Yay me

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 29/10/2018 07:57

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 08:18

Shower done. Need to go and join the tidying effort. Although friend is having car trouble so may not make it, but the Caglets/DH don’t need to know that just yet Wink

After one amazing night of ten hours straight, Cagletini has been waking constantly again the last two nights. I don’t understand :(

Right, really should go and join in. Ugh.

Obviously I logged out last night without actuall hitting post on my post Blush Happy birthday to the little zoo and belated birthday wishes to Cagletini and Bower's DH as well.

This morning, aim to do some work in the kitchen, lounge/diner and pay two bills. Will try and stay off t'internet until lunchtime! Catch you over a bowl of soup later.

stegosauruslady · 29/10/2018 09:48

Sounds as though everyone is super productive today! I have two of the DDs at home on an inset day. I'm also struggling with dust allergy due to all of the tidying I've been doing, my poor face is in so much pain!

To do list for today...

Food shop
Laundry
Dishes
Declutter blankets and bedding
Declutter whiskey bottle collection
Declutter decorative things
