OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

S’ok sc always happy to discuss nerdy things tbh :o

Well my afternoon took a downhill turn, my feelings of panic escalated until I finally had to admit to the kids that I couldn’t take them to their clubs tonight. I was just so panicky about baby being more grumpy because she’s still snotty, and I’m still getting pain/nausea etc on and off, and it just made me scared about being so far from home on my own with them all. I feel horrendously guilty that they are missing out again, I suspect it is probably the right thing to do when baby is poorly but I hate that the Caglets have to suffer for it.

I found some change and sent them to Asda for sweets. Good old fashioned bribery. Going to have movie night. Dinner is easy as I should be able to manage pasta later.

Still have that horrible fluttery feeling though 😣

foxessocks · 11/10/2018 16:50

cag Flowers sometimes it just gets too much. I feel close to the same tbh! So you have my full sympathy.

Dh has just arrived home from being abroad for four days , he has brought chocolate with him - he obviously knows I need it!

Ta da
Hoovered car (I'm driving a friend somewhere tomorrow and I was embarrassed by my car Blush

Hi Lauren I've been here for just over two years (wow where did that time go?!) I have a 4yo and 2yo and dh. I work very part time from home currently.

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2018 18:35

Zoo that was the era of the 2 regular flying threads. Those two were not in charge of the fledglings, they ran the other threads. It was fabulous, people complained about fly lady taking over
Lauren i remember you. Welcome back.

Shit day, shit mood, shit to do list.

Meet0nTheIedge · 11/10/2018 18:43

laurenamium · 11/10/2018 19:05

Ahh people remember me!

I have ironing to do tonight. I need to stay distracted as it's burrito Thursday and I'm trying to stop spending Envy

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2018 19:17

What is burrito thursday?

I have new yarn, I am treating myself to a new cast on ignores mountain of wips It is mildly helping my mood. Well that and strong pain killers. Blush the pain is high atm.

laurenamium · 11/10/2018 19:22

Oh no for pain Sad take all the Medicines Doctor will give you!

Burrito Thursday is my weekly burrito takeaway night. Turns out I'm actually addicted, the way I'm going on tonight is ridiculous

Cagliostro · 11/10/2018 19:29

Mmmm love burritos.

I am feeling a fair bit more human, made a one pot pasta and made a huge mess in the kitchen but hey ho. We are watching bake off.

foxessocks · 11/10/2018 21:31

We just watched bake off too cag it was a good one! Love a bit of collapsing cake drama. glad you're feeling a bit better now.

Dh has cheered me up a bit, helps to have someone to talk to. Although I don't feel so good now so I'm getting an early night. And after all my car cleaning earlier I now can't give my friend a lift anyway or go out anywhere because the car won't start. Turns out ds was fiddling with the lights and we left them on. And dh has left his jump leads at work. HmmHmm could borrow some and sort in the morning but tbh I can't really be bothered!!

Bowerbird5 · 11/10/2018 23:37

Well that’s it they have gone. I am now the proud owner of a cat!

Spreadingcudweed · 12/10/2018 00:08

Having mahoosive thunderstorm here after a very hot day! Tonight was hectic for various reasons, not least remembering about church meeting 10 mins before it started... one of these days I will stop writing things down on the backs of envelopes Confused

Oh Bower hope you are doing ok Flowers It must be so hard to wave off your dd. x

Hope you are not coming down with something Foxes

Hope pain eases soon Hills

Glad you are feeling a bit better this evening Cag and thank you again so much for taking the trouble to write out all that Japanese lang learning info and the book recommendation. It really is appreciated! Loved the "wo" Grin. And I now have some great Christmas stocking ideas for dd (special paper and brushes)! Smile Tonight was quite full on for various reasons and I totally forgot to ask dd about the apps she uses. I know she uses a "testing" app similar to the one you described for Dutch and Swedish (latter is another current obsession!) , so I imagine she may have discovered that for Japanese but not sure, will check! Thanks again Flowers

Well done for making hosp. appt btw and my mind has gone blank currently but will get back to you about cous cous recipes.

Hey Laurenium great to "see" you again! (Was it really four years ago?? You can always rely on me to be skulking about Grin).
Many congrats on your second Bear. And many congrats re: studying for Masters! That takes some doing on your own with two los. DD and I have acquired much longed for dhorse (we share!) since we last "spoke". Do you still have yours by any chance?

Good luck at school today/tomorrow Zoo Flowers Will be thinking of you.

Danigrace sorry to hear about hospital specialists. Hope the appts prove helpful though Flowers My dd is 15 and she would kill to spend some time in Japan with her peers! What an amazing opportunity you had! Star for keeping on top of your routines despite having had such a tough week.

I've I hope your lot are recovering Bear

Humungous wing flaps to anyone I've accidentally missed out!
