Good morning, starting the thread for you this morning. Not as usual doing the link or my list, that will later. Am shattered though this morning.

OP posts:
SimplySparkling · 01/05/2007 14:51

Good afternoon all. I've read the whole thread but have forgotten most of it. Ooops. I'll just post an updated list. (N.B. I get rid of the done items from the previous post and move items that I've done from the to do list to the done list each time, so I've done more than it appears in an updated list!)

Done:-
~ a third load of washing as the coat didn't come out clean. I should have pretreated it really.
To do:-
~ I need to find my sunscreen and apply it
~ do lots of ironing and putting away Have done lots
~ cook roast chicken for tea
~ maybe pop to the post office with parcel. Or might leave it until tomorrow.

Have spent today taking my dad to hospital and am now off again to sort out kids. Will be around this evening to finally catch up with you all.

Glad I went with dad as he was told he has the most aggressive cancer today but they have caught it early and they gave him a 60% chance of survival as it has not spread.

Feel better now I have said it anyway.

tortoise · 01/05/2007 15:22

Awww GF sorry to hear about your Dad. 60% sounds quite positive. I hope he is well soon. (( hugs )).

Am on the 2nd load of ironing. Good job i like doing it.

Londonmamma · 01/05/2007 15:29

I'm so sorry to hear that Glitterfairy - I'm sure he appreciated you being there. I hope they can make him better. It must be a scary time for you

Luda and Tort - hugs to your sick littlies.

I have no motivation this afternoon so am just going to set myself a couple of things to do.

  1. Try to work out an easy fool-proof system so that DHs receipts/money/cufflinks etc don't keep taking over the bedroom.

  2. Help DS2 put his Pirates of the Caribbean poster up (And I get to drool over Johnny Depp)

BabiesEverywhere · 01/05/2007 15:34

GET SHOWERED/DRESSED DONE But only at 1pm
Hoover Downstairs Done

tortoise · 01/05/2007 15:57

BE I totally understand the salad thing! I have pasta and veg too. How long have you been waiting for the op?

2nd load of ironing done. Still need to put it away!

glassslipper · 01/05/2007 16:29

GF - sorry to hear about your Dad

glassslipper · 01/05/2007 16:34

ok, i admit it. I'm addicted to this thread an even when I'm crap at housework I keep coming back.

I need to start babysteps again. Can you guys keep giving me a kick please?

ludaloo · 01/05/2007 16:38

ooooh we get Shield Bugs here too. I used to take small children on Minibeast Hunts to find lots of insects and small invertabrates, we used to find them with the kids.

These are leaf beetles
here Really pretty...they shine different colours in the sun.

Oh goodness...you have got me started now!!

Anyway, Ds is awake but refused his dinner I hope he improves. DD2 has her 18 - 24 month check tommorrow so I hope she is ok. Apart from being sick, she is looking fine!

glitterfairy · 01/05/2007 16:43

thanks everyone you are right tort it is positive and I think that is why he is ok about it all. The side effects of radiotherapy sound pretty horrid too but we will get through this I am sure.

ANyway glassslipper kick!

yaddayah · 01/05/2007 16:48

glitter wishing you all the best with your dad

ds's homework done

Off for a cuppa and closer magazine

NineUnlikelyTales · 01/05/2007 16:50

Sorry to hear about your dad GF but given that it is so aggressive, 60% chance sounds positive. Of course you will get through it. I don't normally do this but {{hugs}} to you.

ludaloo · 01/05/2007 16:51

for Glasss (just a small one incase I kick you onto the other thread by mistake)

I find a good place to start is decluttering. If you have a timer, set it for 15 mins. Do a room at a time (a room a day if necessary) It really is true what they say about clutter. Grab a box, and a bag. Put everything that needs to go somewhere else...or in another room in the box. Put rubbish or clutter you don't need or love in the bag.

(Am I beginning to sound like Kelly? anyway, I am sure you will be fine, you are a hardened FLYer )

ludaloo · 01/05/2007 16:56

GF Ooooh sorry to have missed your post. I hope your dad is ok. Thats a pretty positive percentage so fingers crossed. xxxxxxx

glassslipper · 01/05/2007 16:58

ok, I'm going to ignore the kitchen and messy sink until kids go to bed as its pointless. i have to feed DD2 in a bit but after that i will move the pile on the stairs that has been building for the last week. see, even though i'm off the wagon it's only by a week or so. Just feel a bit rubbish at everything at the mo

Aufish · 01/05/2007 17:03

Glitterfairy I hope in your dad is ok, hugs and thoughts to you and your family. Well my back garden is looking worse than when we started. Him indoors decided to take an axe to the stump of the tree that has been left and has made a huge mess! Grrrrr! He's cleaning it up! Not even made a start on the bathroom upstairs today as I have been busy doing other things. Will do it after tea. Tea is now cooking and I'm having a sit down. The sun is lovely but wears me out very easily.

OP posts:
glassslipper · 01/05/2007 17:51

ok. I've emptied the d/w, reloaded it so i have an empty sink. (will shine later) And i've thinned out the pile on the stairs. It is still there, but smaller.

BabiesEverywhere · 01/05/2007 17:55

Tort
I have only been waiting 5/6 weeks and my operation is in 3 weeks time.

I'm on the fast track operation list, as I turned yellow with a gall stone blockage and ended up in the surgical A&E unit for a week and so they wanted my gall bladder out sooner rather than later.

So even though I am lucky not to have a wait longer (my dad had to wait a year !!!) I am still sick of this flipping diet. ALl I eat is turkey, chicken, cod, salads, pasta salad, boiled rice, steamed veg, low fat yogurt and fruit and it is soooo boring.

On the bright side my MIL has just been over for a quick visit and she thinks I have lost a lot of weight

BabiesEverywhere · 01/05/2007 17:57

Given up on the ironing, had a unexpected visit from PIL. But thanks to FLYing I wasn;t stressed about the house at all.

So we sat in the garden and had a cuppa instead.

Ironing passed onto tomorrows TO DO list, tonight I am plebbing out and then going to bed early...bliss

tortoise · 01/05/2007 18:06

Glad its not much longer to wait BE. I have to see the dr on the 10th for my scan results. The person who did the scan said i do have gall stones. I have cut down on food a lot but still eat fatty food sometimes which probably isn't good. I don't really know much about it yet though. I have lost weight though.

Londonmamma · 01/05/2007 18:19

Glasslipper - just set yourself one or two things at a time and reward yourself when they're done

Babies - sorry to hear about the gallbladder, that must be miserable. Hope you get some sleep tonight.

Well, I'm a convert to the night-time lunchboxes idea, it made this morning much easier - thank you.
Now:
1)dinner 2)lunchboxes 3)DS2 reading 4) a bit of ironing

Thanks to Fly I got around to finding my son a piano teacher and he had his first lesson today. Otherwise that would have been on my to-do list for ages!!

BabiesEverywhere · 01/05/2007 19:00

Londonmamma Thanks...TBH in between attacks I am fine, it is just when I',m having an attack that I'm in pain.

Tort Do you have any idea when they are doing your op then ? Hope you don;t have to long to wait.

Aufish · 01/05/2007 19:13

Babies never had anything like that but you have my sympathy, good luck with the op. I have now done everything that I needed to do on my list, except the garden, he can help me with that tomorrow on his day off.

My list:

Tea done
Lunchboxes done
washing up and drying up done
bathroom done
kids ready for bed done
Recycling sorted for the tip done

Am going to get on with the ironing tonight and get some of the huge pile out of the way. Can't believe how quickly it grows. DD1 back tomorrow and my house will no longer be quiet. She will have had a fantastic time there, DS1 went a couple of years ago and he loved it. Have a good evening one and all and I hope the people and little ones that are poorly get better soon.

OP posts:
tortoise · 01/05/2007 19:21

BE No idea. got to see the Dr on the 10th. TBH i don't even know if the only option is to operate. i know very little about it.

DD's in bed. All quiet here now and i got a load of washing put away. just 2nd load of ironing to put away now.
