Good morning

I'm up early, getting ready for work and making the cake I should have made last night Don't feel like going today - have a bad head and a sore throat but will dose up with something in a minute and hope to get through it (can't afford not to this month!)

So, no FLYing for me today, got fairly on top of everything yesterday so hope the house will survive the weekend!

Have a good day everyone

WOW satin great cake! Glad the party went well - I quite like children's parties actually... I'd be very happy with a Good Housekeeping subs - I get my MIL's old copies and really enjoy them

I'm feeling much better this morning - still a bit croaky with a sore throat but will survive Ds is almost better too - he's v nervous that he'll be sick after eating but is getting there, and dd is back to her usual arguementitive self!

GO didn't mean to forget you - {{{{{hugs}}}}

Good morning to all. I've had a quick read through the thread. I hope you all have a good day.

Jelley Good on you for making that first step. Whatever the reason for not feeling 100% is, you're on your way to feeling better with that appointment.

I'm tired after a night out as I was out from 7pm until about 12.30am, though I drove so didn't drink. Still, I was up at 7.15am as I heard the alarm waking dh to help the kids get off to their volunteering stint. We had a bit of a lazy breakfast together and I read some of a previous weekend's papers ready for them to go to a neighbour. I'm now going to get cracking.

Done:-
~ unloaded and loaded d/w
~ emptied the car of stuff I'd left in there last night
~ breakfasted

To do:-
~ book our Sunday lunch out to say well done to the kids for a good school report
~ get showered and dressed
~ put a load of washing on
~ as many jobs as I can do inluding ironing the uniform/workwear ready for tomorrow

tortoise · 11/03/2007 10:33

Jelley (((hugs))) Hope you get some help from the drs.
shouldbe Glad DD is better and DS getting there.
Hope you find a nice bed for him in ikea.
satin Great cake.
Hello to everyone else.

Today I want to get back lawn cut and need to go and get milk.8 pints used since friday afternoon!! I thought that would last until Monday morning at least.

Have at last done 2nd coat of paint pn bathroom door and surround and skirting board. Looks much brighter.

Have a good day everyone.

Jelley · 11/03/2007 11:07

Love the cake satin

grouchyoscar · 11/03/2007 12:03

Thanks for the supportive messages from all. You have made feel a hell of a lot better. EHM Shouldbe and Tort all hugs gratefully recieved. Thanks for thinking about little ole me when you've been through enough yourselves. I've rested up and am maintaining a horizontal status if possible. My legs are behaving and feel like they belong to me now (One felt like it belonged to a 1950's suited and lead booted deap sea diver and the other belonged to Bambi on ice on acid) and I've been pottering round the house without my stick

Jelley...been thinking about you, glad you've made the 1st step. PND is bloody awful. I felt I was in a whirlwind and I couldn't make it stop or keep hold of anything. And you have a baby and everybody says you should be blissful and happy and what's wrong with you when all you want is someone to help MAKE IT ALL JUST STOP. You'll get that help now. Still in my thoughts. Mail me whenever, OK.

Up (5:30) to entertain DS
Tidy up from last night
Load DW
Empty WM
Organise for drying

Tidy away piles of clean dry clothes in bedroom
Organise ironing pile
Empty upstairs bins.
Get into bed

Listening To Desert Island Discs...It's Andy Kershaw and it's fabulous...am I getting old when I find solace in Radio 4?

All you good good people have a wonderful day. You all deserve it

grouchyoscar · 11/03/2007 12:06

And Thanks to Satin too and sorry if I've missed anyone

Jelley · 11/03/2007 12:22

GO I became a big radio 4 fan when my back was bad the first time, so I was a fair bit younger than you

I am truly impressed at the amount you get done, particularly with someone elses legs attached! I loved your description.

grouchyoscar · 11/03/2007 13:08

yeah, Jelley my descriptions do get a touch florid but it's better to be graphic than telling the docs that 'It hurts.'

They've had
"like a flaming kebab skewer in my thigh"
'It feels like someone is trying to wring my calf off while somethig else is pulling my ankle off'
I'm going forwards but my other leg is wandering it's own way'
'My head is talking to my bladder but it's just not listening'
and
'Why does my leg walk forwards when my knee wants to go the other way?'

Hey, it's my disease so I may as well make it interesting! I keep going so it doesn't get the better of me...'oi you, I'm in charge OK!' Every day I can quantify what I've managed is another day that this MonSter hasn't got me and the day it does is further away.

I intend to demand serious steroids again. I'll cope with the side effects as the past 6 months have been debilitating. They work for me, why undo it?

Re R4...did you start to find the Shipping Forecast highly interesting and ultimatly soothing? And find yourself laughing uncontrolably at Sorry I haven't a clue? and finding Gardeners' Question Time entertaining?

Back pain is so horrendous. It makes you aware of bits you didn't know you had. You just cannot get comfy as those bits make other bits hurt. You have my sympathy on that, it's hideous.

Oops, I've turned FLY into my own private chat page.....sorry all Hope you understand, I need to spew.

tortoise · 11/03/2007 13:19

Been to town and just hung washing out. Another load in WM but i forgot to buy washing powder.

Got someone coming at 3pm to pick up my old double buggy. I freecycled it!
Will have lunch then cut the back lawn.

GO Love the descriptions!

yaddayah · 11/03/2007 13:22

Hi all
Sorry not been around, powercut threw out our broadband for a bit, just catching up on the threads

Congrats tort
Hugs to grouchy shouldbe jelley
Hope glitters ds enjoys his trip
Waves to satin and justivor and anyone* else

currently not speaking to DH as he woke up in a mood, and instead of just ignoring it as usual i had a go at him.. he regards weekends as his "free time" so wants a lie in, kids are excited daddys there so want to play with him ,i know he works long hours during the week but.. my lifes not all swanning around getting my nails done

He went to the pub with the dc's(pre arranged without telling me) with MIL and FIL i refused to go .. , 30 mins later hes back with dd .. she threw a HUGE TANTRUM in the pub (i smirked i couldn't help it) normally when we're both out they really are well behaved so much so he seems to think they're a breeze to look after)

He's gone back to his pub lunch, leaving me with a crying 2 year old "daddy shouted at meeeeee"

Oh well this afternoons going to be "interesting"

Jelley · 11/03/2007 15:00

Radio 4...one of my nicest memories with dp is him singing sailing by to me (The music they play every night after the shipping forecast.- which is very soothing)

I've been complaining recently as they are putting schools programs on in the middle of the night instead of world service, so I wake at 3 am to Justin from cbeebies telling me to find a space and stretch my arms

Yaddah I know what you mean about dp thinking the weekend is his time off. DP has just taken the kids out after frequent reminders since about 10 am. he looked surprised when I told him he was taking the baby too!

GO are the steroids limited because of side effects? I'm hoping you get what you need to make life more managable

I'm going to go and lie down in the hope of getting rid of the backache for a bit...

grouchyoscar · 11/03/2007 16:35

Hey there Tort and Yaddah, thanks for the hugs!
Shouldbe hope you enjoyed the break and are feeling better
Jelley have you tried any alternative therapies for you back? Chiropracter etc. Pills only go so far (and they pile you full of coedine which bungs you up)... BTW Radio 5 have 'up all night; from 1am-5...very soothing and mostly interesting (and Justin free).... Meds wise it seems that the docs are worried about the cumulative effects of steroids over time. But 0 in 9 mths may get me steroid vouchers! Trouble is with this it's mostly treating the symptoms and they have to find a med that fits. It's dead easy to rely on the crutch of 1 treatment fits all

So I'm back...was able to push a bit (and hunger drove me out of bed).

Mid afternoon Flyiing

Make lunch
Make cherry and almond flapjacks
Clean hob
S&S kitchen
Empty TD
Put dry laundry away
Put kitchen bin out
Share lunch with DS
Clear away
Tidy up after DS
Go woozy and lightheaded. Summon DS from 6 Nations watching to remove ds and go back to bed.

I can do bursts of 90 mins at a stretch... Ho hum
Leg sensation update...thighs to knees AOK...now feel like I've had my mid shins whacked with 2X4...ankles and feet fine.

DH is going to make tea...Toad in the hole

Have lovely evenings and thank you all for being there for me this weekend. Hope to return favour when better.

grouchyoscar · 11/03/2007 16:38

Yaddah my DH also does a good line of male PMT too. My sympathies. Honestly, they're worse than us women at times!

tortoise · 11/03/2007 16:45

Grass all cut.
Freecycle items collected by lovely lady.
Small slide cleaned ready to sell.
Plastic rocking horse washed ready to sell.
DD's have spent nearly all day outside. Inc lunch on a blanket!
neighbours over hanging bush chopped right back(am i wrong to expect her to at least offer to do it?)
Bath running for DD's.
Washing in all dry.

I love warm sunny days.

bewilderbeast · 11/03/2007 20:12

hello all, thank you for all the kind and supportive comments on wednesday, it wasn't scarlet fever thank god. Hope you have all had good weekends so far. I'm off to finish mine by cooking a nice dinner and opening a good bottle of wine.

Jelley · 11/03/2007 21:05

bewilderbeast glad it is good news re scarlett fever...what was it?

tort my dds wanted the hose ppe on them this pm. Lots of outside playing done here too. DD1 has finally got to grips with riding a bike

go physio helps as long as I go weekly. Alexander aTechnique is wonderful, but too expensive, and I can't do it myself with the same effect. I tend to suffer in the day, and take paracetamol and buprofen all night in an attempt to get some sleep.

Night all. Thankyou for all your support over the weekend.
