Fledglings marching into spring - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

Thanks afresh I just can't seem get it together.think lack sleep, worry,my own anxiety n depression messing in with shock n grief. We've lost so many last 8months-sons bf mum(brain tumor. Heartbreaking see kids lose mum),dp mum(cancer) my dad, elderly neighbour kids knew quite well and now cat. Just prior to each we had had a great time then on hi of that boom, someone dies. Its like we shouldn't be having fun/good times and are be punished
I have so much guilt over cat. Had I not gone ti sing I'd have been here either alone before git them or be back way faster n lil ones would've been play upstairs (I was too busy listening to people be kind about my singing)and they wiukdbt gave all had deal with ut.I know in my heart I won't sing with kids either in practise or church again as I just can't forgive myself that I cause them pain that could've been avoided

Hello all.

Afresh, I am watching that other thread closely for kettle pile tips Grin.

zoo, you have had a really tough time lately and it is perfectly understandable to be extremely upset. Keep trying cruse /GP. Re. upset children: I know a tiny bit about talking to children about death. What I hear most often is that parents are undersrandably deeply worried that their children are upset or not understanding what has happened. Actually I think a really good thing you can do is let children be upset - it is an upsetting thing. Also it is ok not to understand death. I see a fair bit of death (HCP so obviously not as upsetting as what you are going through) and I don't understand it, so I don't expect a child to,although of course as they get older children do understand more and form their own beliefs.

That is my convoluted way of saying actually it sounds as if you are doing a fab job showing your DD2 that it is ok to be upset and letting her cry Flowers. That said, of course it might help talking things through with GP etc. Plus it wasn't your fault Flowers.

Ta da:-
Morning routine
Quick food shop

To do:-
DH has some time off today so just been to garden centre with DD2. Planning some work in garden later. Hoping I manage to get some decluttering done and out for a run.

Dipping back in to the thread, zoo so sorry to read your news - please don't let it stop you singing. Take a little break while you come to terms with your loss but don't make any hasty decisions. You must be good to sing unaccompanied.

My laptop is overheating a bit, DH should be able to swap the fan or something to make it run a bit better I hope. It tends to jam after a bit but at least it stops me reading so much tosh on the net!

House still not in prime condition Blush

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/03/2017 22:23

Hello all, links to follow shortly. Cotswold, reading tosh on the net is such a time-sucker; definite benefit to a dodgy computer Smile. zoo, I agree with Cotswold, you don't need to make any decisions about the singing now or could just decided to take a break and see how things are after that maybe.

BluePheasant, hope work went ok / is going ok. I do hardly any shift work these days but that feeling if having to go into work later is miserable.

Hello to foxes, Afresh, ememem, Cag, SC, mermaids, WhoKN0ws and all other lovely people.

Here is (in pieces!) the daily summary for Wednesday...

Mission:
It is Anti-procrastination Day! It is time to take a look into the medicine cabinets and toss the empty bottles and boxes that are taking up space. While you are doing this also take a look at the expiration dates on the medicines that are there. If you have some that need to be gotten rid of take care of that as well. Grab a damp rag and wipe down the shelves. Don't take everything out, just lift, wipe and put back.
Your Mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes putting away the things that have a home, you know where they go but you tossed the in a pile while stashing and dashing because someone was coming over. The Stash and Dash spaces are just piles of procrastination.

Here is the daily summary for Wednesday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 3 this week: the bathroom and one other room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 3.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 3 is here

Daily reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

The daily focus for Wednesday is: anti-procrastination

Baby-step no 15 - make your bed each morning I find this a really quick way to make me feel organised...ish in the mornings.

March habit is getting dressed to shoes www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Happy flying.

Sounds like a good costume to me zoo Grin

Work was fine thanks, just 1.30-5.30 today. Been doing some extra lists to catch up on our backlog. Definitely prefer mornings when it's a half day, I feel like I'm slowing down before I've even started when start after lunch! Was an easy list thankfully as have had some really difficult ones lately so that was a nice change. The lastest we work to is 8pm, I don't miss the days when I did all nighters!

Ta das

Evening and before bed routine
Whites wash done and on airer
Bit of ironing
Tidied DDs room
Fought with chest of drawers and now can't close drawer. Bugger. Hmm

Forgot to do any decluttering today, the clutter always defeats me!

Cagliostro · 14/03/2017 23:37

Welcome Dani! :) and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Zoo please don't blame yourself :(

Minimal tidying really, although the fact any got done at all is a miracle considering pain levels. Nearly cancelled all our plans for a few days but glad I didn't, DD got to try a new writing club and I did some teaching too. Really nice day considering - lots of home ed stuff done, lots of games with the Caglets and the living room isn't a total pit (compared to usual anyway). Yay!

Afreshstartplease · 15/03/2017 06:43

Welcome & congrats Dani!

Zoo How good a mum are you for making last minute costume like that! I always have a massive paddy when kids need stuff at short notice

danigrace · 15/03/2017 09:52

So far today I got up and swish and swiped the bathroom then climbed back in bed Blush as didn't settle til late! Time to get dressed and make a pan of porridge and start tackling my work!! (DP & I have our own little business working full time mostly from home).

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/03/2017 10:34

Aw thanks dani I have a 9yo DD and 7yo DS. Been home educating 2 years now, they were in school before that but they were unhappy - both are under assessment for autism now and DD was being bullied as well. Much happier now :o

It's sooo bright and hot today! Back home now from geography club and oh my word I am SO glad that I don't have to collect DD from Brownies tonight (DH is on a day shift instead of the usual late). I do need to sort out the living room though as I have another pupil at 8. Not yet though, I am knackered!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/03/2017 19:01

Hello all,

Still at work but have finished actual day job and am staying to use the computers to fill in some forms for new jobs. Our computers at home just aren't good enough and there is only so much I can do on my phone. So since DH is picking up girls as I am on a long day I have to take advantage of not needing to rush back for childcare pick up.

dani, welcome again and congratulations on your pregnancy Smile. I have two DDs age 6 and just turned 4. I've been on these flylady threads since September but they have been running for years. They are really friendly. We post the missions and links to the relevant bits of the Flylady websites for the next day every evening. It's s really relaxed way to follow the flylady system.

Depending on when I finish here I might try to pop to the shops on way home (have to make the most of child free time!) but will be back on later for personals and links.
