Do you regret buying a cordless vacuum cleaner?

I was about to buy the Dyson v6 but there's a big thread on a local FB group this morning saying how awful they are! That they don't pick up big bits of dirt and the charge is about 6 minutes.

Are they awful? Is the G-tech one or the Bosch one better? Are they all just a space-stealer?!

We have one, DH loves it. The charge is about 30 mins - we've had it since November, picks up cat hair and the like but buy the separate attachment for hard floors if you have them.

I do like my G-tech, but it doesn't replace my main dyson. G-tech is mainly used downstairs. It keeps charge for ages. It doesn't do edges well though, and I really want the G-tech multi now too.

I love mine. I'm now on my second but the first dc35 one lasted 5 years. Actually it still works if it's not on turbo but I wanted a new swish one with a longer lasting charge didn't realise until after I'd bought the new one.

I do a damn sight more vacuuming with the cordless than I ever bothered to do with any other vacuum. We do have a Dyson V6. It's fine for everyday use. It copes with normal everyday mess just fine. The old big hoover comes out about once a month for a deep go over the thicker carpets upstairs but otherwise we don't need it.

It has a 20 minute charge on standard or 6 minutes on the booster setting but I very rarely need the booster. I can't remember ever running out of power in the middle of doing anything.

I heard the Bosch Athlet is better but I have no way of knowing.

I've got a Vax cordless and I hate it, battery life is fine (it comes with 2) but everything else about the Vax annoys me. The hose suction is very poor, it needs emptied after every room, the hose always gets clogged!

I have the cordless Dyson V6 Animal and I LOVE it.

So easy & effortless to use. Floors now much cleaner as I whip it out for 10 mins every day.

We've got the Dyson DC59 and love it, can't imagine going back to corded now. DH always switches it to turbo which is annoying as I don't always notice and then it runs out after a few minutes, but you really don't need the turbo for everyday vacuuming.

My Dyson V6 Fluffy is the best purchase I ever made (they don't let me out much)

It's just brilliant. Does whole house effortlessly in one take (though admit to being no domestic godess) and is light, powerful and fantastic to store.

What's the difference with the Fluffy one? Is it different to the Animal?

We have kids, carpets, laminate, Lino and pets-which do I need?!

I've never owned a Dyson V6 myself, i currently have this cordless vacuum cleaner and i love it!

Love my Dyson Animal but not as much as preschooler DS loves using it.

Twenty five minutes of somewhat helpful peace in our house, worth it's weight in gold :)

I have a dyson animal cordless - it's rubbish , I now have a Bosch Athlet cordless and it's brilliant , it's supposed to be my upstairs vacuum but I bring it to do downstairs as well its that good . The Dyson has been relegated to the kitchen .

Fluffy head works better for hard floors and can pick up bigger bits. That's the only difference with the animal. Think the absolute has both heads.

I have the Black & Decker cordless vacuum and love it. Would really recommend it, think it was around £60-£70.

We have had a Bosch Athlet for just over a year.. I LOVE it! The only tiny negative is that you need to empty it regularly. It has great suction, good battery life and charges quickly. It works well on our tiled floor and our carpets and rugs.

I definitely hoover more because it is so much less faff.

The charge lasts much longer in the Bosch, also I find it much more powerful and it definitely picks up better particularly on carpet . Also with the Dyson we have you have to physically hold the power button on whilst using it whereas the Bosch has an on / off switch . The Bosch has 3 settings one for wood / Lino and 2 power levels for carpet . The only thing against the Bosch is that it can be awkward to fit the tools on but we have other vacuums so we never use the tools anyway .

I have a VAX. Battery lasts quite a while, it's lovely not having to faff with leads/hoses.

But it's hopeless. I have long hair and it doesn't pick it up at all, nor a lot of other things.

It's just taking up space looking at me mournfully - whilst I'm sure I catch Henry gloating when he thinks I'm not looking

I've got a dyson one, not sure of the exact model - it's the purple one. I love it, seriously actually love it. And I was a complete Henry Hoover supporter before but now Henry doesn't get a look in.

Mine has about 20 minutes charge which is fine to do pretty much my whole (very small) house. The suction isn't the greatest but I use it way more often than a regular Hoover so my carpets are not that bad. It's also amazing on hard floors. Couldn't be without it now.

we've had the dyson v8 for just over a week now and although its super expensive (luckily paid for by birthday/xmas/new house money!!) its certainly living up to expectations.

I have a v6 absolute. We use it all the time and do much more hoovering now and the stairs are so easy. Big Hoover once every 8-10 weeks or before I shampoo them.

The v6 is looking quite popular so far. I like the idea of hoovering bits of the house in short bursts (3 storey house). How do you empty it?

It's a small canister to open and empty. Have to say, the kitchen and downstairs get done everyday as it's just so easy to pick up. I could never go back to a Hoover that gets taken out the cupboard again! BUT we only have a large rug downstairs the rest is wood and tile and the fluff off the rug (two cats) pretty much fills the canister.

I have the dyson v6 and if my house went on fire after my kids it would be next on my list to save

I go round my wooden floors about 3 times a day with it on boost

6 minutes is more than enough to clean a large kitchen , dining room, sun room, living room, toy room, hall and utility room quickly

I have dogs and a toddler and it gets in a mess quickly

I love mine it the Best Buy in my house for sure.
