to ask what household crap brings you joy?

In the vein of KonMari and inspired by the £200 bin. I feel the need to know what else I'm missing out finding joy from otherwise boring yet necessary household crap

I don't have the iron station yet but think it would make my heart sing compared to tripping over how my ironing board iron and laundry is currently stored

Can't take those on holiday though, MrsHathaway. Wink

I have wondered about those heated clothes drying racks. Do they take up a lot of space and are they expensive to run? I have to dry all my clothes indoors, in the bedroom and draped around other rooms so this appeals but I don't have a lot of space and would like something that folds up in quite a compact way.

This thread could help clear out someone's bank.

I have been watching some Kondo Youtube videos but the people doing them all seem to like to talk just a bit too much and are very American.

decisionsdecisions123 · 03/04/2016 12:15

Kondo? I mean KonMarie (or whatever it is).

nattyknitter · 03/04/2016 12:16

Just bought 2 little sets of 4 drawers for under the bathrooom sink from Aldi, to make do until I can get my bathroom done nicely with built in storage.

Just spent a joyous half hour sorting out the baskets of junk on the shelves into the drawers.

I'm now desiring new pans, but havent had mine long enough to justify it.

candykane25 · 03/04/2016 12:20

She's called Marie Kondo decision so we're right. The videos are a bit daffy, I just look at diagrams on Pinterest. The key to all of it is folding and then rolling so it can all stand vertically. It means to see everything and can extract an item without disturbing anything else. It's a thing of beauty.

Decisions i have a heated airer from lakeland. Its amazing. Folds flat when not in use and you can open just one side. Living in flats its been a life saver. The only thing id say is buy the one with the extra support as mine is the older one and bends slightly. Doesnt effect use!

evelynj · 03/04/2016 12:24

Great thread

I love the JJ chopping board-slanted chopping on one side & meat but my recent revelation is this ikea bench rather than chairs for kitchen table so dc mess is easier to clean up & now ds is learning to do it, woo hoo!

Aargh won't let me paste the link. Anyhoo, little plastic baskets from poundland/dunelm for sorting dd clothes inside her drawers are great now that things are organised. I'm awaiting an ikea bag dispenser which is going in the hot press to keep wrapping paper in so there are less things under beds as I hate all the dust that gathers round them.

I use a proper window cleaners glove mop thing & squeezy thing for windows. It's amazing. Use for the tiled bathroom walls & shower screens to - ettore is the make

londonrach · 03/04/2016 12:25

Bitter...sign! Now do i go for the pretty little red one or the one you recommend! Decisions....

I bought this heated drying rack for my DD for Christmas Grin along with other stuff. Her flat is a bit damp and it was a nightmare drying her washing.

It was far cheaper than Lakeland one and she says it's brill.

BikeRunSki · 03/04/2016 12:49

Ah but Hathaway the USB plug was just very useful on a trip to France, just one adaptation required.

MrsHathaway · 03/04/2016 13:03

Why would you go on holiday when you have wifi at home? Grin

We have a rechargeable charger for holidays. Charge it once for a few hours and it charges four devices 0-100%.

Lucked · 03/04/2016 13:06

I now want two of the Joseph Joseph bread bins, one for bread and one for biscuits and treats, that's £100, surely nobody could argue that is excessive.

We have 2 of those not just for holidays Wink.

bettyberry · 03/04/2016 13:43

tell me about potato ricers! which is the best one? I struggle with mashing rooth veggies and want something that will get carrots and swede to a yummy mash consistency.

PS. I bought the bin this morning... So glad I am single! Grin

The UK three pin plug bit clicks off and can be replaced with a US flat 2 pin plug in bit

LOVE this thread: do share your reviews on vacs here and Steam cleaners here Grin

DisappointedOne · 03/04/2016 14:02

I have the oxo good grips potato ricer. It's superb, but we so rarely have mash it's barely used. Can't comment on swede as never have it in the house.

OmaC · 03/04/2016 14:07

I'm not a gadget addict and have no room as my husband left me after 40 years and had to move to a small abode

thebear1 · 03/04/2016 14:12

The lake and airer is great and dries faster if you sling a sheet over the whole thing, although I think they now do a cover. My handheld Dyson is great and has lead to much cleaner floors. So many ideas on here I love.

bettyberry · 03/04/2016 14:25

DisappointedOne swede and carrot mash is how I get more veggies in my diet. I can easily get 5 portions with a roast or sausage and mash this way :)

Might get the OXO one then. I looked at a couple of others and they looked pants.

YourLeftElbow · 03/04/2016 14:28

Revive Power Paste for cleaning. It's amazing. I buy three tubs at the Royal Welsh Show each year, and it's great with tough stains. I can go on about it for ages. The stand at the Royal Welsh is one of those cheesy ones where the man cleans a filthy oven door, a horrible mug, and rust stains and wears a microphone on his head. I stood there for ages, telling people "It actually does work like that! I bought it last year!" I bet they thought I was planted there Grin

Barbafamiily · 03/04/2016 14:31

Is this the squinty mop? If I'm going to change my life, I need to make sure that I am changing it with the right implement!www.diy.com/departments/vileda-1-2-spray-mop/208468_BQ.prd?gclid=CjwKEAjw_oK4BRDym-SDq-aczicSJAC7UVRt22iMdnIHhsRnUQsxT0pDja84t5Kv25nY0s2pO7100BoCOVfw_wcB&ppc_type=shopping&ecamp=SEAPLA208468_BQ&ef_id=VkZLgQAABbZ@g6hv:20160403132556:s
