Woo hoo! It's the second Bullet Journal thread! For the benefit of newbies - Bullet Journal is a brilliant way to organise your whole life in a lovely notebook. Perfect for anyone who has tried every app and every scheduling system but just can't seem to get on top of things. Also perfect for lovers of beautiful stationery and especially for people who like lists!

Sooo - get out your fineliners and your washi tape! Stroke your Leuchtturms! And get all that stuff that's whizzing round in your head out onto paper instead!

I find the frixions a bit faint in comparison to something like a uni ball eye pen. It's a trade off based on how often you might want to erase your work. I use a pencil to draft ideas and go over with a my uni ball when I'm happy with it. If it's the only pen you plan on using you won't notice. On the plus side I didn't get much ghosting with a frixions because the ink is not so wet/dark. (I use a leuchtturm1917)

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 19:38

Congratulations Doreen

I have been lead astray by a link to cult pens above Angry I am seriously considering changing to a mechanical pencil. I just like the feel of it.

And in another embarassing confession...

Had to take DS's bike to be serviced today and they hadn't quite finished when we went to pick up. Mooched around shop and then DS showed off his new erasable rollerball to the nice young man in the shop. He very excitedly asked to try it and got out a notebook to write in, looked a bit shamefaced and said to me "I know its a bit geeky but I write all my notes down and I even have a key that I tick everything that needs doing and cross the tick when it's done"

Whereupon I extracted my bujo triumphantly from my handbag and said "what you need is an index and a square for you tasks which you colour a triangle if you've started and colour completely when you've completed it.." cue much conversation and other shop assistants and customers looking like this => Shock and Confused and I like to think Envy

It's been a while since I made a man that excited.

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 19:38

And yes I set up March today waiting for DS in football. Ridiculously excited FFS I'm a grown woman!

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 19:40

Inspiring! Today I bought a notebook and pens. Had hoped to get an A5 pretty one, but realised that they didn't contain enough lines per page, so got an A4 one, which has 35 lines, but will need pimping. Am going to check out the lettering lesson. Still not clear what you're all doing with the wasabi tape, though.

Funnily enough, have got a lot done today, possibly because not only did I make a list but acted on it immediately.

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 19:53

delph I mainly use the wash tape to make my own sticky out index labels - one per month calendar and one for my shopping list age. If I'm feeling fancy I put a stripe of it down the page just to decorate but mostly not so often.

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 19:54

my washi tape has a very plasticky feel - should it feel papery - it does tear like paper but hard to write on.

BYOSnowman · 27/02/2016 20:40

Has anyone looked at the
Herlitz my book flex

If so - can you fit two notebooks if you get an extra elastic?

AtiaoftheJulii · 27/02/2016 20:51

mybookflex.herlitz.eu/en/products/ - looking at this, you can put two inserts in. I like the look of that, a lot cheaper than a midori!

BYOSnowman · 27/02/2016 20:53

Oh yes - that does look good

Only downside is no dotted paper!!

Maybe I will get one once I've worked through my LT and I've fully got to grips with the method

AtiaoftheJulii · 27/02/2016 20:59

Although, my next notebook (which will be ages away, I have about 180 pages and I'm up to 28!) will be one of these completely delicious nuuna numbers - www.cultpens.com/c/q/explore/product-type/paper/notebooks?sort=alpha-asc#:=&g_brand=nuuna
Which are definitely not cheap.

BYOSnowman · 27/02/2016 21:09

Nice

But I can't see pictures inside!

MissingPanda · 27/02/2016 21:20

Thanks Tea and Meticulously for the advice.

I've started setting up March and will finish it off when I've got my su's to bed. I'll add some collections (they are called collections?) too. I'm going on a working holiday in a few months. I need clothes and I want to lose some weight so I'll set up a double page for both. One will help me to get organised and the second will hopefully keep me focused.

Devora · 27/02/2016 21:51

You know what we really need is a BuJo party where we do you-show-me-yours-and-I'll-show-you-mine and all nick ideas off each other. How lucky that we're spread across the country, or I might be tempted to organise it Grin

DelphiniumBlue · 27/02/2016 22:42

Kew, thanks for the tip. I think I just need to get going on it, and then see what unfolds.

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 22:54

Don't speak in jest Devora ... I know where you are ....

Devora · 27/02/2016 23:12

Kew Grin. To think we used to hang out on the adoption threads, earnestly discussing the needs of our children. Now we discuss the needs of our BuJos...

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 23:15

Adoption is so old hat... and do you realise that the nuuna notebook Atia linked to comes in shiny copper. CHildren don't come in shiny copper.

motherigloo · 27/02/2016 23:25

I love those erasable frictions pens! I like that they run out and that they aren't that dark. Really nice to write with.

This thread moves v quickly!

I have gotten quite used to using mine every evening now, adding bits here and there.

I don't use it for shopping lists as I don't take it out with me except to work, where I also use it.

I had a very productive day with mine and ticked off three tasks and scheduled two in for tomorrow!!

Iggi999 · 27/02/2016 23:57

Tonight I have not only booked my Easter holiday but also the travel insurance to go with it, which is a first!
Ok lots of people saying they are setting up their March pages. What does that involve? I have just done a March to do list, what am I missing??

unlucky83 · 28/02/2016 00:53

I was on the other thread ...find anything organisation really interesting (but sorry I don't think a bullet journal is for me...will be sticking to my tick tick app and google calendar) but I came across this and thought about this thread...
www.forbes.com/sites/kevinkruse/2016/02/17/your-to-do-list-where-important-things-go-to-die/#1733fa649dd2
This is the story of my life Grin
But I did try to transfer tasks to a timeblocking spreadsheet which is a similar principle to the 15 min block calendar - and it is really effective...you do get stuff done but I couldn't bear the rigid nature ...I found myself constantly doing something that I really didn't want to just then or procrastinating ...
like I would put down hoover bedroom in one 15 min slot and really not feel like doing it then (would swap with something else on that day I did feel like doing then ....but spent lots of time swapping stuff around...)

Or put 15 min to phone HMRC about something work related and then be on hold for 20 mins, find it meant I had to do something else which I could just do straight away whilst it was fresh in my mind (rather than write it down and book it into another slot) ...so it pushed everything back so then spent the rest of the day trying to catch up - feeling behind ...and actually it made me feel panicky. And even though I tried to book in leisure time it is that that has to go if you are going to catch up ...
Anyway glad people have found the bullet journal is working for them...

I'll show you mine! Grin

And here's my Future Log showing off the second use of colour coding months. I find this system very visual and it will make transferring dates to monthly logs in the future a doddle.

I'm pretty pleased for coming up with this solution all by myself - also note the March-April event and how I used 2 colours (apple & pink) in one square to indicate a week that's split between 2 months.
Hope you'll like my ideas!
