Why does my husband's clothes cupboard smell of cannabis?

It stinks. One of our cats often sleeps in there. But it just smells of weed. It's awful. There are no drugs in there. What could be giving off this odour? Help!

I'm afraid it's either your husband or (assuming the clothes are hanging there after being washed, dried and ironed) your neighbours.

Your hubby is smoking it, or someone is smoking it around him.

They'd have to be farming massive quantities of it next door for the smell to be coming through the walls not that I know very much about it . And into your OH wardrobe but nowhere else? I don't think so. Are you sure it's not a leetle bit of cat wee?

The smell of weed is not strong enough to go through a dividing wall. And the smell wouldn't be limited to his clothes. Does he have a yellow stain on the second or third finger of dominant hand? (Could indicate smoking joints).

Cat wee smells vastly different to weed, imo. We live in a detached house so definitely not the neighbours! My dh doesn't smoke weed as if he did I'd know, we're very open with each other and I wouldn't care much if he wanted to smoke it occasionally so no reason to be secretive about it.

Our cupboards actually join together but it's only his that stinks.

He is generally clean, clothes are all clean, the only unclean thing in there really is the cat, who doesn't smell of weed.

Could your cat be dealing?

Is there any damp? Could be on back on wardrobe etc? I had damp in my drawers somehow and I find that musty smell reminds me of the smell of weed. I took out and washed all the clothes, cleaned the drawers with bleach and left to dry in the sun, now the chest of drawers isnt touching the wall the damp problem has stopped

Does it smell like stale weed? Sometimes stale sweat can smell a bit similar. Is he putting dirty things back in cupboard for another day, and they're stinking it out?

Is it his trainers? Or clothes that have been put away unwashed?

Or maybe mould on the back of the wardrobe?

Perhaps the cat has spayed in there?Cat spay and cats are have a very strong odour.

To the poster who said cannabis doesn't smell strongly enough to come through a dividing wall, my neighbour smokes cannabis in his bedroom and we can often smell it in our bedroom next door, very strongly too ????

Cat wee smells like cannabis.

There is a good chance the cat could have pissed in there. She used to love pissing on everything when we go her as a kitten last year. However now I'm thinking mould - the room does have a bit of a mould issue which we have cleared up where it was visible. Now I'm thinking there's probably hidden mould inside the cupboard. What joy.

Does your cat have a second home he hangs out in where they smoke weed and it clings to his fur?

Does your DH cupboard contain any of the following

A) a skunk?
B) a Birkin handbag from the batch that smelled of weed?
C) marigolds?

Either that or the cat is dealing. She does often get into fights. Could explain a lot.
