Why does my husband's clothes cupboard smell of cannabis?

It stinks. One of our cats often sleeps in there. But it just smells of weed. It's awful. There are no drugs in there. What could be giving off this odour? Help!

Dh has just reminded me that for quite some time he was puzzled as to why his office smelled so bad - it basically stank of farts. He bought scented candles, aired it out all the time, actually hoovered it properly, only to discover it was his fucking stinking slippers stinking the whole room out.

Could you swap your clothes round so yours are in his wardrobe and v.v. and see if the smell follows him? Sounds intriguing.

its probably mould. my parents house is damp and it smells a bit like weed.

Doesn't catnip smell like weed? I know what weed smells like but not catnip . If your cat is lying in it all day, then possibly that could be why the cupboard smells like it?

The other 'what's that smell?' Thread this week has been resolved.
The answer was a small sticker that had been inserted up a small boy's nose and gone bleurgh.

Seriously, get the clothes out and check the wood you can see. If nothing, get the back of the wardrobe off and check there. Dry rot has a sweet, must smell to it.

FWIW my bathroom often smells of curry for the house on the other side.

We have had lads of cannabis farms in the street, I was working at one and the smell was so pungent. I was concerned as my client had a toddler, weeks later I found out her next door neighbour had been raided for growing weed and turns out she had become immune to the smell.

Ah I have the answer, 'tis Jeffrey in hiding smoking a spliff and looking for the sticker that was up small child's nostril.

Does your DH use a bag/rucksack etc? One of DPs friends is a regular weed smoker. He's moved away now, but once he stayed over and his bag etc was in our spare room and it stunk of weed.

Either there was a load in there or it was soaked into the fabric. I suppose the same would happen with a coat or jacket that you wear over and over without washing.

I don't think weed and cat wee smells anyway comparable btw.

Did you move into a house with existing fitted wardrobes? It's possibly down to a previous occupant.

I own a rental flat and it has always stunk of cannabis even though it was empty when I bought it and the current tenants have been there for three years and as far as i can tell they are not cannabis farmers. I can smell it in the bedrooms whenever I go in there, but is' always been the same - I think the smell has just seeped into the fittings and the carpets of the room.

I'm going to say damp too. My bathroom smelt perplexingly of weed for ages before I realised the smell was emanating from the mat.

I have had two plastic objects from china recently that reeked of dope-a plastic bracelet and a bath mat. Any odd plastic things from china in there?!
