Mission here

OP posts:
ParanoidAndroid · 08/11/2006 14:00

Oh girls, have I been missing you all. I've fallen off the wagon badly. I've not been feeling too brilliant over the past few weeks and so I've let it all slide. I even - sorry to say - unsubscribed from the emails because I felt so horrid at reading them and doing nothing.

BUT .... last week our heating packed up (so lots of sympathy from me, Flame) and when the boiler guy came round, I had to move our bed to let me get to the loft and guess what I found under it? Yup, feathers. Lots of feathers. No corpse luckily. But obviously it's a bit of a feline hiding place. How embarressed was I?!

So I'm trying, slowly, to get my life back on track again. I posted a bit on the thread last week regarding SAHM vs WOHM - what a long thread that is! In the end I decided that actually I am happy with my life now - I've done the career woman crap, and now I just want to stay on top of the household crap! So I'm feeling more motivated than of late, and even managed to swish & swipe this morning. Just hoovering downstairs at the moment - and then I'll look at the zone and catch up on the missions.

It's nice to be back

tortoise · 08/11/2006 14:03

Good to see you ParanoidAndroid. I was only thinking yesterday i hadn't seen your name lately. I think most of us have unsubscribed as it got too much but use the thread for support!
I'm not sure i'm really FLYing but keeping things tidyer than before.
I'm still lazy!

ludaloo · 08/11/2006 14:23

Hello again..

Hi Buda...sorry to hear the news....chin up and keep trying.

To all those who have had a break from FLYing.....well done for getting back to it...there is nothing worse than no motivation (I had none whatsoever before I found you lot!)
Little steps is defo a good plan!

I have just come back from town and forgotten to get coal
Will have to go out again later no doubt...

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH
I thought they were quiet!!.............ds and dd2 have emptied the entire contents of two of my cupboards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH whole box of Uncle Bens rice on the floor..........
.............ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo whole jar of coffee too!!!!!!!!

Oh the little bleeders!!!!!!

HazelnutHazelnutsTree · 08/11/2006 14:37

Hi FLYers. I am not having a great day today

Flame, I hope the heating is sorted now. I would have to sleep in my lounge if my boiler stopped working. I hurt to much if I get to cold and the lounge has a gas fire so that would be the only room that would be warm enough.

Good to see you back ParanoidAndroid.
I think we have all felt crap,p*off, fed up, yuk, life is crap, no go, etc over the last few weeks. So we know how you feel. (((((HUGS))))) to you. In fact ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) to everyone

I had a shite nights sleep last night as I was aching so much, when I got up this morning it was a really yuk winters morning. Could be why I ached so much.

Tree has DD and they went shopping and they are going to get DSs from school soon. I had a shite phone call from the SS just before lunch. They said I should have phoned them when I went into hospital!! They could have helped with child care then. Grrrrrrrrrrrr as if I left the DC at home alone!!!

I have done a little FLYing today. I ironed

Ok ok, I know I should be resting, but I was sat on the sofa doing the ironing. Tree told me off too

HazelnutHazelnutsTree · 08/11/2006 14:42

Buda Sorry I missed your post. ((((( HUGS ))))) to you. Fingers are crossed for you and all goes well in January

asleep · 08/11/2006 14:51

i've done the downstairs!

upstairs i need to put clean clothes away and clean the bathroom.

HazelnutHazelnutsTree · 08/11/2006 14:54

As to the bread makers. I found the bread to sweet and like tortoise said the bread was not that soft. But my friend (who had the bread maker) found out that if you make the dough in the bread maker and then make it into roll,(long or round) and bake it in the oven, they come out better and b/c its still sweet, the rolls make good iced buns or cream buns. I think you had to not put salt in so the rolls did not have a hard crust. I think she said the salt was what makes the crust. I am not 100% sure it was the salt though so don't take my word on the salt.

Not good it you want to lose weight and like ice/cream buns though

tinshoes · 08/11/2006 14:56

sorry to hear your news Buda.

welcome back paranoid android.

to anyone with heating problems or illness - you have my sympathy...

dd just had a 90 min nap in my arms which was a great reason for me to do nothing

i WILL try and mop the floor today...

LadyOfTheFlowers · 08/11/2006 15:00

hello.
i know you guys on this thread have been ribbed last week i think? about doing this flying thing and i dont want you to think i am taking the michael either.
i am interested in joing the thread and i have looked at the fly site a couple of times, ages ago when it first appeared on here but it all looked a bit overwhelming tbh.
i love having a tidy clean home, especially when ive blitzed the whole thing, which happens about 4 times a year...
i want to do it though as i feel that is my part of the deal being a sahm while dh goes out to work every day.
is the fly site where you get motivated? that is what i lack. and also how will i do it all with 2 kids under 2? i could do with tips in that dept please?

i have no motivation whatsoever.

tortoise · 08/11/2006 15:09

Hello LadyOfTheFlowers.
I think we get motivation from each other!
I think to start with its just 15mins de-cluttering a day!Unless you live in an uncluttered house. Then move onto the detailed cleaning list off the FLY site. Zone each week to work in.And a mission each day to try and do.
I have a 2 and 3 year old at home all day and they play or watch tv.!
As its only small bits that need doindg at 1st it doesn't feel to overwhelming.

tinshoes · 08/11/2006 15:13

wow - i just mopped everywhere in 10 mins

lady of the flowers - lots of people think we're very sad but at the end of the day who gets motivated by housework! Not me, but i do like having a tidy house.

Take a look at the babysteps section on the flylady website. Dont subsrive to the emails as they are rubbish. Just come on here to check the week's zone eg, this week is kitchen, and daily missions eg, today was to clean all your kitchen worktops (properly)
and then just chat ....lots

hth

LadyOfTheFlowers · 08/11/2006 15:14

so do you build it up then, like you ease yourself into it?

tinshoes · 08/11/2006 15:15

oh, and do things in 5, 10 and 15 minute bursts as then it doesnt get too dull.

i have a 2.9 DD and we are out nearly every morning so h/w gets done in the afternoons only for me.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 08/11/2006 15:15

am going to check out baby steps...

Quootiepie · 08/11/2006 15:20

Ill read the new posts in a bit..

DH just came home from work because I got abit overwhelmed with things Gonna get some bits and bobs done round the house (to cheer me up ), ill check back later!

Welcome LotF

tortoise · 08/11/2006 15:24

Q hope you are ok.Not sure what you meant by overwhelmed with things?
Kitchen is tidy but it sounds like dD's have changed that. I just heard the tub of fridge magnet letters get tipped out.

Quootiepie · 08/11/2006 15:34

Just... things in the past really. Not housework!

tortoise · 08/11/2006 15:59

ok.
Well i don't think im getting very far this afternoon! Front room is no way company ready!

tortoise · 08/11/2006 16:14

Flu jab appointment made. They are not getting them in until the a few days before the appointment on the 13th Dec!

HazelnutHazelnutsTree · 08/11/2006 16:54

Well done tortoise. A long time to wait though! thats over a month waiting!

Well have have tea cooking. Chicken pie (made like cottage pie but with chicken) and veg. DC love it.

Its not fair here at mo . Someone down the road has their Christmas Decs up! I want to put mine up!!! Oh and the DC do too

tortoise · 08/11/2006 16:55

Lol HN.I want mine up too!
I don't know what to do for tea. Might chuck a few chips in for DD's!

HazelnutHazelnutsTree · 08/11/2006 17:11

The DSs keep asking when can we have our decs up now. So I said soon, and they thought I meant after tea! We have come to a "maybe" this weekend now.

I need to do a shop from Iceland's but don't really feel like going out at the mo. I wish they did online ordering. The freezer is not really freezing much at the mo

Hope you find something good to eat tort.

pippah · 08/11/2006 17:41

Hugs to everyone who is poorly or chilly - hope you all get mended soon!

Lady of the Flowers - I am a fairly new flybaby too. I am 38 weeks pg with baby no. 2 and have a 19 month old DS. I found out about FLYing on here and then looked at the website. Do Babysteps first - do the dressing to shoes and sink shining, progress to swishing your loo and swiping your surfaces....pretty soon, the house will look so much better that you will find motivation to do more. Believe me, I am so NOT a naturally clean and tidy person - it is a big joke with my familty and DH what a messy being I am!

You sound from your post a bit like me - tend to go mad for cleaning and do too much at once and then burn out and not do any for...months?! LOL! The key to the whole thing is to do a little at a time and try and gradually build up a routine as suggested. I was soooo tempted to jump straight in and blitz the house, but had to resist it. Within a week of just doing 15 mins declutter a day and the shiny sink, the house was looking so much better. Everyone has noticed and made nice comments! I don't do the e-mails, just here for the missions and support and the website as needed.

Before anyone says it, I do realise how sad I sound, and more than a little evangelical - eek!! Laugh if you like, but my house looks nice for the first time ever, and it makes me smile rather than makes me feel sad, so there!

pippah · 08/11/2006 17:45

BTW, my cleaning hour (It sets my teeth on edge to call it home blessing - too American somehow) went well. House all vacuumed, dusted, cleaned and mopped. DH did hoovering and cleaned bath for me as I am, frankly, far too pregnant to do it! I also tidied DSs room out and now it looks really nice. He'll wreck it when he gets home, but there you go...

BudaBeast · 08/11/2006 17:48

You can't put up Xmas decs yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its EARLY November!

It's got to be 1 December at the earliest.
