Do you have twins? My youngest dd is 13 months, I would love it if she would take a nap! She only ever sleeps in the car... I have a 3 year old ds at home in the day too, don't you find housework really hard with little ones about! As soon as you have tidied, they untidy! Then my dd1 comes home from school, and dh comes back and ..well...it doesn't look like I've done anything!

scarymaryme · 13/10/2006 13:39

My dh doesn't lift a finger round the house!
(unless I've just given birth, or the kids are all ill)
but to be honest, half the time i'd rather he didn't do to much as he messes up my cupboards and puts things away never to be seen again!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 13/10/2006 13:40

I may as well have twins!! 15 month age gap. Jessica was 2 in July and Becky is 1 on the 25th Oct!

I treat them the same though - they are little monkeys! It is hard to tidy with them about, but i love stair gates! If im in the kitchen, the stair gate is shut so i can do it in peace! If i do the lounge, I threaten to hoover and they scarper!

scarymaryme · 13/10/2006 13:43

I agree, stair gates are great...I have to train my older ones to lock them behind them, which sometimes goes forgotten! I have been busy in the kitchen and found my smallest upstairs playing with the toilet freshner! She got all the way up on her own without me knowing!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 13/10/2006 13:45

oooops! Hence a stair gate! Jess has learnt how to close them but still cant open them which is great!

Right.... going to put Jess for a sleep me thinks - she is getting narky!

scarymaryme · 13/10/2006 13:46

Aww..that sounds like a lovely age gap...I bet they are great pals! 2 year gaps between my three and their birthdays are all in the same month! My eldest two are a day apart (not particularly planned either...but very expensive september!!)

scarymaryme · 13/10/2006 13:47

must do some work..... bye bye

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 13/10/2006 13:49

Well I'll admit it, my kitchen floor gets swept about twice a week and mopped once a month-ish and this is since I started Flying! I use the excuse that too much hygiene is bad for the immune system. Will be investing in a floor- scrubbing brush though so my bluemoon floorcleaning will be more effective. If you can mop your floors 3 times a week, why would you need the Flylady?
If I had a dog I would work harder, they stink.

scarymaryme · 13/10/2006 13:54

My kitchen is carpeted (not my choice but we rent so I can't really rip it up!) It is a nightmare!!! bits stuck in it all the time, I would love nothing more than to mop.
(Now I really must go!)

Skribble · 13/10/2006 14:10

Right I am back and in a better mood, (just had a huge bowl of filled pasta with red pesto and cheese and a big glass of coke ), right what have I done.

Food packed for holiday,
cool box ready for stuff from the fridge,
bread and juice in freezer to use as giant cool packs in cool box,
packed all the other kitchen stuff I need plus odds and ends,
Kitchen surfaces wiped down,
Bathroom swished round,
Load washed and on the line.
You never know this might be the first holiday that doesn't involve me madly shoving stuff in a bag at 1am.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 13/10/2006 14:13

Hope you have a FAB holiday skribble.

I have got Jess down for a sleep and Becky is playing at my feet.

Really should get some washing and drying done, but as the washing machine and tumble dryer are in our outhouse, I cant really leave her on her own - she will freak and wake Jess up! I will do it once Jess is awake to entertain her!

So that gives me about another hour to sit here - like i havent done that all day as it is!!!

Skribble · 13/10/2006 14:14

So what are your positives from Flying?

Packing for holiday is easy because all our clothes are clean.
Can send the kids up to get clothes and they are all neatly in their cupboard.
Room in kitchen to sort out food and stuff for holiday.

Everyday stuff...
We all eat at the table instead of me on the sette because table isn't clear,
I can have visitors,
I can have my meter read,
finding stuff is easier,
no depressing mess to come down to in the morning,
things feel easier to tackle rather than sitting with my head in my hands wishing it would all just go away.
Local charity shop full of loads of stuff.

Skribble · 13/10/2006 14:17

Thanks I am hoping for a good one, last one in Spain was crap, but the fact I can barely bring myself to speak to DH might not help. I am good at putting on a brave face in front of kids but he isn't.

Sorry I will be positive, I will, I will.

Right cuppa and a bicci before kids get in (1 hour yess!) then we will all pack our clothes together, well minus DH.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 13/10/2006 14:17

I think for me it is just knowing that there is very little to be done. My house is now presentable to visitors and my state of mind is healthier.

THis has given me something to concentrate on rather than all the other SHITE going on ( stuff i have told very few people)

The girls are happier

DH is less stressed as he isnt coming home to a messy house, spending 3 hours of an evening doing "bits" that I should have done during the day.

I have become a lot less LAZY and a lot more pro-active

Afternoon! Been out and about - bought a bedside cot as... err... DS tumbled out of bed this morning No FLYing today (yet). Comp died before the pictures loaded... dont know why, but, they were taking about half an hour! Ill try again in a bit. DSs jumparoo finally arrived but takes up 1/2 the living room!

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 13/10/2006 17:29

are you all hiding because I havent been around?

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 13/10/2006 17:49

Ruby get back to bed. Seriously though, have you got a good book? You should aim to be tucked up in bed reading as soon as your kids are.

Oh go on then, make sure you have a nip of whiskey in your tea like the Royle family though.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 13/10/2006 18:12

Just bothered to read some threads.... get to bed Ruby! very least grab a duvet and chocolate and sit infront on TV. Hope you feel better soon - its crap being ill... You can just order us other FLYers

TortUREoiseChamber · 13/10/2006 18:31

Hi FLYers.
Sorry you are ill Ruby. Have a nice rest in bed/on sofa.Hope it goes soon.
I do my mopping when i think of it! I could do with a daily/weekly schedule so things get done more often. Im still waiting for the HA to send out workmen to put new bathroom and kitchen floor tiles down. I phoned last week as it was suppose to be done by the 3rd Oct!
Ive put all the washing away and put DD's summer clothes away!
JARM Was it you looking for fluffy sleepsuits? I have 2 that don't fit DD's anymore. One is age 2 but Vertbaudet so smaller(no feet) The other one says 81cm! Let me know if you would be interested in them.

We are all fed so playing until bedtime!

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 13/10/2006 18:35

Ruby I hope you are feeling better soon. {{{{{Ruby}}}}} I think you should put your feet up and have your duvet downstairs with you and watch the tv, dvd, read book, etc. You don't want to be stuck up in bed for 24 hrs a day. You need to be ordering everyone else about!

I did not quite finish what I was hoping to do this afternoon. I did not get around to doing the fridge Maybe later or tomorrow. We went to the park though, the sun was still out and it was dry (ish) DD got some fresh air and DSs got to play more.
DC fed and bathed. DD going to sleep on me drinking her night milk. DSs playing/ watching tv. DS2 came home with his first reading book from school today and hes really chuffed.

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 13/10/2006 18:47

Oh and I mop my kitchen/back hall every other day. I have 1 of those mops where the cleaner is in a bottle fixed to the mop. And it has a few cloths that fixed to the mop. Just spray and go. Change the cloth and then go again. I find it better to clean every other day, then it does not get so dirty and take ages loads of cloths to clean the floor. 3 cloths and its then done. I then just wash the cloths out and dry. No buckets of water/dirty water to deal with
