Morning all this is as close as I am going to get to flying today.

Finished work at midnight went in and did my shopping (I work in a supermarket) Got home and put everything away to find that time had done a fast forward and that it was 2am. So dragged myself of to bed.

DS is teething and decided that 4.30am is the perfect time to start yelling. Have finally got him settled. Thank goodnes for milk, calpol and Sky TV Tiny pop is on from 13.0am so I can usually find something to distract him with. Just means I have to canmp out on the sofa till it's time to get up.

Need to try and get my head down now as I am back at work at 11.

Happy flying everyone see you Monday as I intend on catching up on lost sleep on Sunday.

Hi FLYers.
Been a fun day! Family fun day at the leisure centre because its been open 1 year.Badly advertised so only about 3 people came! Kids had a ball trampoling and playing short Tennis,Badminton and Table Tennis!
I got roped in to join in a taster areobics session!Didn't realise it would be a full 30 mins.[sweaty emoticon]
After we came home for lunch we made cookies(snap HN!!).

Don't fix punctures, invest in puncture resistant inner tubes.I haven't had a puncture since I put them in the new buggy.Mine were mainly due to brambles alomg the road or hedge cutting!

Better do tea now.Although im not hungry yet.I had a big cookie!!

Afternoon all, We are ahving a bit of a family day today, Pizza Hut for lunch, shopping for new school shoes and an evening with DVDs and cheese and biscuits and fizzy juice .

I have been flying for 2 weeks now, I find family life does get in the way of my great intentions sometimes but I am finding family life is getting easier.
School clothes will be ready,
swim kit packed,
letters read,
forms returned,
table clear for doing homework, dinner and art projects,
kids have clean clothes to wear,
MIL can come for lunch,
All in all it is getting easier and quicker to do normal tasks and cleaning is just something that gets done as I go along, rather than wasting a family day to clear up rooms at a time. Kids are getting used to putting their stuff away and DH may get to grips with it all eventually, he still looks so hard done by when I ask him to put his stuff away .

I amm looking at my house thinking I managed all this in only 2 weeks, come Christmas it will be unrecognisable and I will be happy to have all the relatives around and will actually be able to fit them all in .

hazelnuts · 30/09/2006 18:20

Sorry squatchette, got called in to real world and then I had to get tea cooking etc. All done now. Baths and already for bed My DSs are 6 and 4 years.

My cookies are slowly going to tortoise A bit too more-ish

tinshoes · 30/09/2006 18:20

Hi Guys.

Just finished lovely HOMEMADE dinner of cottage pie and then apple crumble. very rare for me to completely make things from scratch but I think it means I must have a bit more time cos i'm spending less on housework.

House is looking pretty good. I've done no housework today ecept washing/dishwasher/kitchen surfaces. Very pleased with myself.

Skribble · 30/09/2006 18:21

Ref the lemon is it half a lemon in micro? 2mins and bing.

RanToTheHills · 30/09/2006 18:22

so skribble, what exavtly are you doing differently to be so much more efficient? Need some tips but not got time to wade thro at the flying mails/website info (some of it rather fluffy imo!)

tortoise · 30/09/2006 18:22

HN you mean too!
You have said they are going to me!!! thanks! lol!

Sorry you had xp and ss probs again today.

Skribble · 30/09/2006 18:23

I was thinking I haven't done any housework today, but I have emptied dishwasher, put a load on, swept all downstairs, kept everywhere clear. Thing is it is just habit now, not major tasks to moan about.

asleep · 30/09/2006 18:28

i've cleaned the kitchen. DP made us homemade pizza, which we are about eat with a good bottle of wine. and then we're watching a film. saturday is my date night as DP works friday nights. hope you all have a nice evening and good nights sleep!

RanToTheHills · 30/09/2006 18:28

So is that wha'ts key - super structured routine of taks so none of them seem undo-able?

hazelnuts · 30/09/2006 18:28

does anyone know what yahoo messenger is like? I have MSN and its wont let me log in. I have windows live (crap) so went to MSN 7.5, but its not working all the time. I have yahoo for FLYlady and it keeps saying about yahoo messenger, just wondered if anyone knows what its like. It does say that you can talk to people with MSN with yahoo, I dont know much about this sort of thing

Skribble · 30/09/2006 18:30

Rantothehills, site is a bit fluffy but most of us ignore that and stick to the daily mission and work in the zones. Babysteps is good to follow even if you have to skip all the faffy bits.

Whilst working on the missions and clearing in the zones you start to establish daily routines.

There are task you do every day like, shine sink, put a load on, clear up as you go, drink your water etc, swish and swip in the bathroom.

And tasks to do on a day each week,
like Monday I catch up with the weekends washing and do the home fixing (blessing), living room is my room that day and gets a good clear up to get it back to rights after the weekend,
Tuesday I change either our bed or the kids, water plant, clean fish, and room for the day is bathroom so stuff like clean the mirror, mop floor etc.

Skribble · 30/09/2006 18:31

Key is creating habits and routines and clearing up in short stints.

RanToTheHills · 30/09/2006 18:31

thx - will revisit it!

hazelnuts · 30/09/2006 18:33

tortoise... oops sorry I just knew you wanted more cookies really lol!

I dont know why SS say they will be here and then not turn up. I was worrying all night about today, now I wondering what will happen next week

Skribble · 30/09/2006 18:35

My essential tools are a timer and a tote bag with my cleaning gear and a small tool kit in (saves running up and downstairs).

Timer is used to remind me the drier will be done (its in the hut), and to do mad tidy up sessions with he kids, vital for games like Mucky sock sock. Kids now have another timer in the bathroom to limit shower time and increase teeth brushing time.

tortoise · 30/09/2006 18:36

HN why won't msn let you sign in? Does it come up trouble shoot? If it does click on it and click repair. That normally sorts it for me.! signed in ok but sorting girls for bed now so im appearing offline!

hazelnuts · 30/09/2006 18:41

tortoise, ok thanks, I will try that now,

it just come up that I need to make sure that I am online, well I must be to be on here

Its been doing this a lot this week, this is the first day that I have not got online with it though. Been trying for most of the afternoon

tribpot · 30/09/2006 19:55

Still only on babysteps but already I'm seeing a new structure taking place - I don't think it's super-structured, you make it fit with your life. So for example I've designated one of Tuesday's tasks 'sorting out prescriptions' as I have to reorder my dh's prescriptions at least every other week, and ordering for Wednesday means pick up on Friday (mini-rant about why electronic transfer of prescriptions doesn't exist yet).

Dh has definitely been inspired to help out more now he can see manageable bite-sized tasks to do in the kitchen. My sink area is an oasis of tranquility - sad but true. I now want to extend out to the rest of the house, piece by piece.

Lemon / microwave - this is half a lemon, 2 minutes? I have some lemons that need using up (I still deny Anthea and her towels).

hazelnuts · 30/09/2006 20:07

All Dc are in bed now. MSN is now working, It still took its time to login tortoise But thanks for help
I just want to win the lotto now

mummyhill · 30/09/2006 21:00

Just got in from work DH has offered a take out yipee no cooking. Kids are sleeping (not sure how long for though). So it will be Tea, Bath and bed for me cause I am shattered.

hazelnuts · 30/09/2006 21:25

mummyhill, sounds like you have had a long day with just finishing work. Hope your tea is really yummy and DH treats you to a great bath with loads of cuddles when you get to bed. He should let you have a lyin in the morning too

Make it another mums day tomorrow

squatchette · 30/09/2006 21:34

evening everyone caught you all here at last (i think).Went to have a bubble bath on my own for once when dd2 woke up and decided to join me.typical they have some sort of radar for detecting me having any sort of rest.
Nevermind she's eating her tea that she missed earlier chicken&veg caserole done in crockpot so still hot and seems to be enjoying it youngest asleep in bed with daddy bless.
RE LEMONS-Yes it's just half a lemon for 2 mins on high .I used it for shining up the sink afterwards and it came up sparkling .I love my new kitchen as long as i don't look down the floor is being done this week at last,it was so grotty before it's like a different house and once i get my new cooker in and little dining table it'll be a real home.
Does anyone else use a crockpot? With no cooker for 3 months i'm queen of the crockpot(slow cooker). There's lots of recipies on Flylady food section ,don't have the menu mailer but there are that many free ideas on you hardly need it.
DD wants seconds so i'm off to do that just swished and swiped the bathroom and put a second load of washing on mainly towels so just need to refresh kitchen sink then i'll be back if any ones about!

squatchette · 30/09/2006 22:24

sorry forgot to say hi to HN hope the cookies were good.Don't worry about the ss i'm sure they'll come up with some explanation for their absence .It's hard on the boys though and don't be affraid to reprimand the ss regarding this if they are in the wrong they will be pleased that you are putting the childrens feelings as your no1 concern.Isn't that what being a good parent is all about?
I have trouble with MSN too, well as in i haven't got a clue how to use it .DP uses it though and said he'll show me.How do you find flying with the boys they're a bit older than my 2 girls so just wondering what the future may hold hoping they'll improve in the messy stakes.I'm crap at disciplin can't even spell it see and they just don't seem to care how annoyed i seem they find it amusing i think the youngest(age2)is actualy quite good about picking up if we use the timer and sing barneys clean up song but Charlotte 31/2 isn't fooled she says "it's hard work not a game mummy"! I did try reward charts for a while but i ruin it by letting her have stuff even when she's been naughty. She was so poorly for so long i think the spoiling has well..er 'spoiled' her.I'm hoping when she starts pre-school in a few weeks that things will change and she'll realise she has to expect the same treatment as everyone else she's about half the size of the other kids her age so that doesn't help either .Well i'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for the advice on punctures everyone and for letting me ramble on so much. You can tell how much i'm in need of adult conversation off to check my emails now before you all start thinking i talk to myself

tortoise · 30/09/2006 22:28

Hi squatchette.
I have a slow cooker but never use it! My mum gave it to me before they moved to Turkey last year!
Your kitchen sounds great.
Can you put some gaps in your posts please? I find blocks of typing hard to read!
Really sounds like you are FLYing.
