I'm feeling like a right plonker tonight. Dr gave me a med for stress and now I feel nervous about taking it , so I've asked another Dr (neighbour) and decided to wait until tomorrow evening. I'll put some lavender oil on my neck & shoulders, plus bed, instead. Off to assemble tomorrow's lunches once the DW finishes, need the plastic tubs to pack it in.

Toddler and I slept until 9:20. Shock We even missed the bin men. We've only just made it downstairs in the last few minutes -- Toddler was reading and playing and I was decluttering/flinging. Now that we're downstairs, though, he wants to sit on my lap so my productivity is about to drop right down.

ive done fair bit flying today s a distraction but i fear ds will be very clingy from here on in

i shall pop back later

AdoraBell · 08/08/2012 15:04

Oh dear Zoo, how's your weather? Could you all go out to a local park? I know that may seem like rewarding bad behaviour but I'm thinking in terms of draining energy (their's not your's) do you have any relaxing music you could put on?

Could you have DD join in the flying? Sorry I can't give practical helpSad

I'm feeling a bit better today, got my head around the concept of taking medicationWink. Got greasy hair though, loads of lavender oil rubbed into my scalp last night needs dealing with now.

Scout19075 · 08/08/2012 17:05

zoo, no practical advice as I only have one and he's 2.9 but I can offer lots of virtual chocolate and Wine.

thanks guysSmile

they in bed wrecking havoc upstairs now so ive turned up the tv and am trying to chill with a multi pack of double deckers, bag jelly babies and some crispsBlush!

tomorrow im hoping to take them into town which is nearly an hour walk each way, without all the strollng round shops,so if im lucky they will be tired and bit easier to handle
they like going into town and since they we young we have had a plan around town-couple shops and a small snack from poundshop.by the time we reach the market they gagging for the bananas i buy, then the home straight sees us down one more road of shops and then to home bargains for a drink and then we head home...if its hot and sunny we have a park to cross and an ice cream man visit is mandatory and we sit under a shady tree on a bench and enjoy a nice cold lolly!they know this routine so well they normally quie well behaved

i did quite a bit flying today to burn out my frustration and as means to ignore some the behaviours.posted them on carrots holiday thread

hope you all have a good evening!

Scout19075 · 08/08/2012 20:53

So a couple of weeks ago some of my in-laws asked for some present ideas since my birthday is next week (eek!). I sent them my running amazon wish list -- it's one I keep when I see something I think I might like/use. I made the mistake of looking at it today and seeing what's on the "purchased" list. Blush Bad me!

zoo, have the zoolets settled down and gone to sleep?

MrScout's still not home. Hmm But after our lie-in this morning Toddler was able to more-or-less keep going today and went to bed easily so I've made/eaten my dinner and am just doing some emails and playing computer games. I should do other things but I'm being lazy.

hopefully it will go smoothly and they will be tired when we get back and behave

fingers crossed!!!

carrotsandcelery · 09/08/2012 09:23

adora, i know exactly what you mean about the tablets for stress. i had the same issue with the sleeping tablets.
i hope you are finding ways to relax.
i would recommend camomile tea, yoga if you like it, exercise, especially walking, developing a hobby.
do you know what is causing the stress? is it something specific or life in general?
keeping a journal may also help.
you have probably tried all these things but just incase.
good luck on your day out zoo. i always find out of the house easier if mine are being tricky. i was out too long yesterday though and am still suffering a dreadful headache from it. i am a bit fevery too so may be fighting something as i was ill on mon night too. i was really hot yesterday but just thought it was from running around in the city. obviously not.
i did get off lightly in the shoe shop though. only dd needed shoes. she is a size five now Shock and everything else was fine. thank goodness!

carrotsandcelery · 09/08/2012 09:27

we went to see diary of a wimpy kid dog days yezterday. it was really funny and dh and i were laughing out loud, let alone the kids. they are still discussing the funny bits.
i would still like to see brave but have been warned there are scary bits so might just take dd. there was one scary bit in diary... but because we had read the book ds knew it was coming and covered his ears and hid his face and coped ok.

CatsInChaos · 09/08/2012 09:36

Oh carrots I am dreading future shoe shopping, DS is just growing into size 5 shoes and he's only nearly 9. Shock !!! My nephew is almost 13 and size 8 shoe!! Some of our family are TALL!!. (almost 6ft)

Hope you are feeling a bit better today.

I am just trying to chill with a Brew coffee --before the usual chaos kicks off-- May have to try and go out somewhere!!

Scout19075 · 09/08/2012 09:47

Size five?! Shock I'm barely a UK three and I'll be 38 next week.

Toddler's painting a mobile of sea life (star fish, fish, crab and octopus) at the moment having a whale (HA!) of a time. Rumor has it we'll see sun today so we're going to go to the playground.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/08/2012 10:20

I am a size 6 so a 5 seems big for an 11 yo but I can't believe your ds is that size or that he is nearly 9 already. Time whizzes past on us.

Ds is massively tantrummy today. I am wondering if he possibly has whatever I am fighting. He spent his pocket money on a new ds game yesterday so I am tempted to be a rotten mum and let him plug himself into the ds for as long as it holds his interest.

Dd is going to do horsey stuff today but not with me as I feel rank so at least she will be busy and outside.

Scout19075 · 09/08/2012 10:27

Toddler just dumped an entire pot of sorting/counting teddies on the floor. They're everywhere and in boxes and grocery bags and bags that are packed for our weekend at the in-laws. Grrrr.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 09/08/2012 10:31

Oh dear, now he's pulling off all of his trains and tossing them around in frustration.

I'm glad we have a last minute play date to the playground/duck pond around new for a picnic/play/duck feed.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/08/2012 10:32

Oh no Scout. Can he participate in picking them up? Even if it is just the easier ones? Good luck.

Ds seems to have no clean pants. I haven't yet braved hunting in his room as I fear I may have a tantrum if I go up there. He looked scared at the prospect of me going in there. Goodness only knows what he has been up to this morning Hmm

Scout19075 · 09/08/2012 10:33

Yes, he picked up some of them. I think he's having one of those days.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/08/2012 13:03

Ds has been reasonably cooperative after his earlier tantrums. He has done a few jobs here and there as soon as asked. I have been mostly leaving him to his new game though as I still feel rotten. The pain is lifting. I just feel the threat of it now iykwim.

I have to persuade ds to go out shortly to get some money out and to go and pay a couple of bills. I also paid my car insurance today. Gulp! I might mention the possibility of a sweet rather than face a tantrum. I know I shouldn't but I can't face the sound of one just now. I need earplugs and dark glasses and a cold cloth glued to my forehead!

Scout19075 · 09/08/2012 16:23

We spent three hours at the park then went to Sainsbury's where we ran into our friends (the ones we just left -- though we knew the other was going) so went to the café with them and everyone had a cold drink in the a/c. A very nice day.

CatsInChaos · 09/08/2012 16:27

I have had a nap this afternoon --not for long-- Blush
I fell asleep yesterday on the sofa too! I guess I must need it.

Having a coffee now to wake me up.

Scout19075 · 09/08/2012 19:33

Carrots, thanks for those suggestions, my journal had kind of fallen by the wayside but i started again. I do know whats making me stressed and what I need to do about it, just cannot do it as things stand and that in itself is making things worse. Haven't taken the medicine yet, thought I was okay last night, Doh! tonight I will use the med as I really need to sleep, even though its not a sleeping pill.

will try to catch up tomorrow, TTFN

carrotsandcelery · 10/08/2012 07:49

morning all. i am waiting for the chimney sweep this morning. i was going to dust the lounge yesterday but it seemed a bit silly when i suspect lots of dust will be created. it hasnt been done for a while but i thought we should do it and then have the option of using it in future.
ds has completed the game he got on wed. he slept half of yesterday and i did eventually take him out so he was only on it yesterday morning and today. i fear he may have been up a long time today.
now i know he is well i will have to keep him awake today. his request is to go to the park.

CatsInChaos · 10/08/2012 08:15

Morning all, I have a busy day lined up. DH has a day off. Smile

Carrots hope you have a nice time if you go to the park.
