My dmum did it to me and it worked and it has worked on my dd too. It's tough love but I am grateful to my dmum now. Grin

cats would your DD like this? who's in the loo?
It starts, Who's in the loo?/there's a very long queue/is it an alephant having a poo?

I think our very recent success with DD1 using the loo was party down to just bribing getting her to sit on the loo for a couple of weeks. She didn't have to do anything, just sit on it.

DH has just brought home take-away

carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 19:40

A dh and a takeaway sounds so nice bessie (thank you!)

Would anyone like a tired, grumpy and naked 7 yo boy? Short term loan only.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 19:42

Much like his tired, grumpy and (thankfully for all involved) clothed 40 yo mother Sad

bessie26 · 26/05/2012 20:03

hehehe carrots I would swap him for my so-tired-she's-crying 3 yo, but thankfully I managed to get her calmed down & into bed eventually. I think we might go back to having a nap every day for a while!

cats I remembered something else. On a thread I started someone suggested having a step for her to put her feet on. So we now have a wooden box in the way bathroom. She is fine without it on the downstairs loo, but I'm going to keep it in the way there until she has totally mastered No 2s! (she still sometimes wants to do them on the potty)

take-away was yummy. Tofu in satay sauce which reminded me I'm making tofu in a peanut sauce for dinner next week

Oh, and carrots - good to hear that DS has no official syndrome or disorder. But still obvs very Sad that all the problems were caused by the bullying.

carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 20:26

At least now I can fight back at the school though bessie - they brushed off the poor treatment saying there was something up with him. Psychologist says there is not apart from poor treatment from them. They also said he was extremely bright and under stimulated. Again their problem as we do loads at home to keep him thinking.

Thankfully dh has arrived who is ok in the heat apart from becoming very "friendly" and has taken over the care of grumpy, still naked but now bathed, 7 yo.

Cats it is possible that dd feels too pressured. Since it is warm could she run around with no bottom half on, or just a loose skirt for modesty, and no one say a single word if she has an accident?

Hi all, sorry I didn't come back earlier, we ended up going out for a little while then DD wanted to play Mister Maker on the computer.

bessie thanks for those links. Smile She has got a step stool for the toilet but she just doesn't want to sit on it (the loo). It will be interesting to see what the health visitor suggests when I see her.

Carrots My ds has been almost naked today too (while we were home). It must be boys of that age! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 20:40

Grin at all the naked boys. It must feel totally liberating. Grin

DH and I have a secret stash of Munchies for when then DC are in bed. Grin

carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 20:48

There is a very posh street in our village and there is a "tradition" for mums hooligans to strip naked and run through the gardens from one end to the other. Shock

I have obviously not done it yet but my friend lives on the street so she lives in hope of spying a young man having a go while she sips her wine in the back garden one evening Shock Shock Shock Grin

We did have a secret stash too Cats but ds found them at 4am today and ate them. We have salt and vinegar Pringles left but I have discovered I am allergic to them. I had some one evening and woke up the next day looking like I had had an overdose of lip filler!

cats DD1 already had a step, but it wasn't high enough for her to rest her feet on while sitting on the loo. Hence the big wooden box.

carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 20:53

is this any use Cats?

OP posts:
CatsSleepAnywhere · 26/05/2012 20:57

bessie We might have a similar problem but at the mo she is just refusing to even get on loo or potty. Hmm

Sad
carrotsandcelery · 26/05/2012 21:00

I have found some pretzels. Grin

Thanks carrots, that is a good link! I have bookmarked that one so I can have another look in the future.

bessie26 · 26/05/2012 21:26

carrots that bit about "coming on too strong" rang true for me. I have to let DD1 tell me when she wants to go. If I keep asking her, I just annoy her & she won't go! If I need her to go (e.g. if we're going out) I have to be very careful how I word it. If I mention it in advance (e.g. "we'll have to have a wee before we go to Grandmas") she will refuse point blank. Whereas if I just casually say "lets go for a wee before we goto Grandmas" she's fine.

cats DD1 was also refusing to get on the loo until a few weeks ago, which is when I started bribing encouraging her to just sit on the loo. What happens when she is at pre-school? Do they have success with her? Another thing I have been doing recently is inviting friends round who are toilet trained & then talking endlessly about how "sarah came round and did a wee on the toilet"
