Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 15:48

I love furry friends and they are a true advantage of trekking the 90 miles to the outinlaws -- they have five cats. Four are friendly (a set of sisters from the same litter then one had kittens and so a brother & sister from that litter were kept) and an old crabby one. The cats that are all related are all black (I LOVE black cats) and Toddler calls them "Tat!" since they all look alike and MrScout & I, not being around them all the time, can't tell the difference between the sisters. The old crabby one he calls "Foff!" (her name is Fluff) and he has been well trained in the art of "leave Fluff alone, she doesn't like people." Toddler hasn't tried to "shroke" "Foff" in months but will walk into the room and say "Hello Foff!" before going off to play. The black ones he will pet and they, for the most part, put up with him for a while until he gets overly excited by the fact that he's stroking a cat.

Poor pukey pants. Sad I hope DD is feeling more like herself soon, bessie.

carrots, will you be putting DCs on poo patrol until they're married and have DC?

I fear the "argh" was more drama.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 15:54

Ds just fell off a dining chair and whacked his head on the table and then his back on the wooden floor.

It was one of those horrid moments when you just can't move quickly enough.

He has split the back of his head open a little and has a big egg but there are no marks on his back.

I held a cold facecloth to the back of his head for as long as he would sit still and although the blood has made his hair sticky it is not heavy.

That's bessie on puke patrol and me on head injury alert now.

Ds has had loads and loads of head injuries but that is only the second one I have witnessed (it is usually when someone else is looking after him).

I feel sick.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 15:55

Scout I love the way you describe TS's speech.

Do you want to shock us tell us what has happened now or do you want to escape it all?

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 15:56

And yes, the dcs are now officially on poo patrol [bugrin]

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 16:31

Ouch, carrots, that's a horrid feeling. I know it too well when Toddler was 18 months (approx) I watched him fall backwards down 3/4 of a flight of stairs and he flipped twice, landing on his back. I was home alone and there was blood everywhere and he just screamed and screamed. I had the ambulance SUV out and once it was all over and TS was fine (not screaming and playing again) and shook and sobbed and called my mom in the States bawling my eyes out--.

Oh, PiL stopped over at SiL on the way home from lunch and MiL told us what was said regarding Niece3 and the rudeness of it all. My BiL is a sanctimonious so-and-so. MiL has sent an email (finally telling them a few home truths) which I think is going to cause another family row. A few years ago they (my SiL/BiL) got all high-and-mighty and tried to put us all in our place and more-or-less cut contact (not completely because they wouldn't be so stupid foolish since without my PiL physical and monetary contributions they wouldn't be able to feed & clothe the kids ).

My MiL was practically in tears at one point saying "why can't they be normal like Scout and MrScout in the way they bring up their kids?" I didn't know whether I should be Smile or Blush or Hmm

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 16:35

Scout that is terrifying. Did they take him in or sort him out at the scene?

I am watching ds like a hawk.

It sounds like your MIL has done the right thing. You can't treat people like that and eternally get away with it.

She must be mortified, especially with good parenting on show as a stark contrast [bugrin]

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 16:47

They sorted him out at the house. We had to do it on the front stoop, though, as that's the only place Toddler would stop screaming/crying (he's always liked stepping outside when he's upset/hurt and even when he's not). So I sat in front of my house with a screaming, blood covered newly-toddling toddler, I was covered in Toddler's blood and the medic. Toddler was fine -- nothing more than a bloody nose and a fat lip (with rug burns on his nose/lip) but OMG the blood. I forgot how much the head bleeds. I was surprised he didn't break anything or lose teeth given he hit his face off a step. The medic was lovely and didn't mind me sitting outside because, as he said, if that's where Toddler was happiest to be looked at that's where we should do it (it was May and not raining so okay to be outside). I'm sure the neighbors were Hmm at the sight.

Yes, BiL & SiL often think they can say/do what they like and not get pulled up on it. A few minutes ago, in the kitchen, MiL said something about them/Niece3 that made me Shock. I feel for MiL, really. She's lovely and has a big heart.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 16:56

That sounds awful Scout. I think paramedics work in all sorts of circumstances. A friend of ours is one and a front step sounds quite pleasant compared to some of the places he ends up.

Your poor MIL. Can you imagine how embarrassed you would be if your dd was causing all that upset?

Ds is in a bit of pain. He can't rest his head on the back of the sofa. He is alert and hungry etc though. I am going to worry all night I just know it. Normally in these circumstances I would sleep beside him but I know I shouldn't.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 17:59

Oh! Oh! Oh! Dh is bringing home takeaway Indian for tea! Whoop! Whoop!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 07/04/2012 18:12

I will be back in a while [busmile]

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 18:22

YAY carrots! I have been craving pizza from home but we're having ham, egg & chips.

The thing is, I don't think MiL has anything to be embarrassed about. After trying to stand up for Niece3 in person in her email she pointed out their horrid treatment of Niece3, the favored status of their boys, especially Nephew1 (who is the next in the sibling line after Niece3), and how cruel they're being to the older two sending them away and now making them travel hundreds of miles/8 hours when they're that poorly. (Yes, I realize it must be hard to be that far away when your children are that poorly but they're also not thinking of their comfort and are relying on someone else to transport/care for their poorly children for a full day travelling between countries.) I see my BiL sending another one of his ranty emails and trying to cut ties until they need something again.

MiL keeps talking about doing a family Easter complete with egg hunt in a few weeks, when the older two are well again, but by the time that happens I see the older two having to go back to school and all of the younger ones being ill. I honestly don't see us coming back for a month or so.

I must stop ranting about crazy family.

I must also get over to the lists thread and post my Ta Dahs.

I am enjoying my boys.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 07/04/2012 19:36

Hi all, I have been out of the house a lot today so not able to post much at all.
We are home now though.
I have just read through all of your posts and I am Shock and Grin and Sad at all that has been going on with everyone. Wow! what a weekend!

Carrots how is DS?
You will need to watch for him being sick or sleepy.
My DS was 3 when he fell down a full flight of stairs. He was sick and sleepy so we got an ambulance out. He had concussion and had to stay in over night, they scanned him and everything. Very scary! Sad
He was thankfully o.k. and sent home later the next day.

Scout hope everything is alright with your family.

Zoo I am Grin about your potential cats.

bessie Hope your DD get better soon.

bessie26 · 07/04/2012 19:47

Have you read this thread? 'tis very Grin & Shock - I'm not sure whether it will make scout feel better or if she will just add some stories of her own!

DD2 is absolutely fine in herself, she just keeps vomitting every now & then.

Hope DS is ok carrots - I remember a small child falling over in the changing rooms at the swimming pool a couple of years ago. Just thinking about the sound her skull made hitting the floor makes my stomach turn.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 20:00

bessie I was going to link to that thread too. It makes my experiences look very ordinary thank goodness. It is [bugrin] and [bushock] and all sorts of things I had no idea even existed!

Ds seems ok. He has been lively, chatty, bouncy etc. It just hurts him to lie on it. There is quite an egg out the back. He has been to hospital for head injuries 3 times already and had glue stitches and those paper ones twice as well. If he ever goes bald he will have a whole novel's worth of stories to tell relating to the scars on his poor head. I got to the point that I was scared to leave him with anyone as it always happened when he was with someone else. A friend of mine laughs at me for being so jumpy with him but he has history in that dept.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 20:05

I had to leave the table half way through our curry. I didn't flounce or anything but I just couldn't sit with the dcs any longer. I just said to dh, I was really sorry but needed to go and lie down [bublush] I think it has all been a bit too much for me today.

On a lighter note, tonight was the first time we have had curry since we got Twilight. She is clearly a curry fan. As soon as she smelt it she started going berserk and was running all over the house barking. She has a really low, deep "oooff" sort of bark. This is a 15 yo dog so she doesn't do a lot of running normally, more a slow shuffle.

Clearly she knows what a curry is and was keen to partake [bugrin]

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 20:06

She has been nosing her bowl around the kitchen too btw. Subtle!

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 20:52

Grin at Twilight's love of curry.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 21:02

She is now snoozing happily on my feet. I just gave her some boiled rice though as I dread to think what a korma or a dhansak would do to an old dog.

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 21:08

Probably a good idea, carrots. I sense that doggie curry farts toots aren't very pleasant.

I brought Toddler's Easter Basket down after we put him to bed. MrScout's going to do another "complicated" train track configuration for Toddler and I think I might put the basket in the middle of it. Either that, or leave it on his seat/at his place so he sees it at breakfast. I can't decide.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 21:18

Oooh! Exciting stuff. I need to happy up the household tomorrow so will makes some Easter chocolate crispy nests, do another egg hunt, visit the gps with Easter flowers and tomato plant [bugrin] etc.

I will also have to list loads and loads of crap treasure from dd's room on ebay as listings are free just now and selling her crap treasure seems to motivate her to get rid of it.

I had an evil thought. If I had given Twilight curry then the dcs poo patrol tomorrow would have been amusing. I couldn't do it to Twilight the dcs though [bugrin]

Sorry for so much poo talk today [bushock]

And the bunny emoticon overload. I love them [bugrin] [bugrin] [bugrin]

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 21:19

Can Mr Scout do a train track that leads to the basket hidden under a chair or something?

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 21:24

Unfortunately there's no hiding place in the living room tall enough to hide the basket under. I can't wait for Toddler to meet his new bunny to add to his bunny family.

carrotsandcelery · 07/04/2012 21:51

It's like Christmas Scout. I am excited for you both too. [bugrin]

Scout19075 · 07/04/2012 21:55

I was looking at pictures of Toddler, when he was still BabyScout, and his first Easter, when he first received Bunny. He loved Bunny. And he loved Creamy last year (though don't think I have any pictures of him with him).

I do hope he loves Chocolate Bunny. I love Chocolate Bunny. He's so soft, like Bunny was before Toddler spent two years loving on him.
