Morning Zoo. I am slightly hangovered this morning so brain not completely in gear yet.

liveinazoo · 04/03/2012 06:59

bessie
LENTIL AND GINGER STEW

1tbsp oil
1 onion,finely chopped
2 carrots finely chopped
2 cans lentils
500mls veg stock
250mls coconut milk
1tsp grated ginger
large handful baby spinach leaves
1tbsp flaked almonds
2tbsp fresh chop coriander

heat oil.add onion and carrots for 10mins to soften slightly over very low heat

add ginger and lentils and stir for 2 mins.

add stock and milk.boil then cover and simmer for 5 mins

blitz half the mixture.return to the pan and add spinach, stirring to wilt

divide between 4 bowls and sprinkle with almonds and coriander.serve with rice

i will use slightly less liquid next time as was a little soupy for my liking.used frozen chop spinach as dd2 finds cooked spinach chokes herShock
maggi do a coconut milk powder that works out cheaper than cans.add water to make into coconut milk or cream

BlackCatTryingToFly · 04/03/2012 08:03

Right, I have:
Got one load of washing on
swish and swipe bathroom
DD breakfast
made beds but not DS as he is still asleep.

Next I need another Coffee Brew and some breakfast.

bessie26 · 04/03/2012 08:38

Blimey, you lot have been busy! I've

  • drunk tea in bed
  • eaten breakfast
  • printed out today's reward chart for DD1
  • TD on

I will get washed & dressed soon!

Thanks for the recipe zoo - sounds yummy!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/03/2012 11:37

I haven't done much. I have however emptied the dishwasher, done a load of washing, fed and watered everyone and washed and dressed. Am now on 3rd cup of tea, pondering what to make for lunch and tea.

Need to get back to meal planning as I used to do it, but have let it slip. Trying to keep food shopping to the bare minimum this month due to finances. We don't eat meat anyway so that keeps costs down, and no wine will be bought for the rest of the month (I have a bottle in the cupboard for emergencies Wink)

BlackCatTryingToFly · 04/03/2012 13:16

Has anyone just recently been through potty training? If so have you got any good hints and tips?
I tried to do it with DD last year on and off but she wasn't ready so we are giving it another go.

Dlamis · 04/03/2012 13:36

Can't believe it's snowing. Yesterday I was in the backgarden and sun digging away like a lunatic getting it ready to start planting this years veggies!!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/03/2012 13:49

I was potty training this time last year if that helps BlackCat? DS1 was 2.1 and decided it was time - I put the potty (it is actually one of those little Fisher Price mini toilets - excellent) in the living room. I bought Pirate Pete's Potty book - you can get a girly vesrion too. Just left him naked in the house and then used pants. Changed from nappies to pull ups for night time. My best advice is to buy the bed wetting sheets (in nappies aisle - this sort of thing) and use them in the stroller/car seat/boosterseat at table etc. to protect stuff from inevitable accidents.

Take a week out of the calendar and do as little as possible, just until she gets the hang of it, then start going out more. I always kept a potty in the car too, for emergencies but now he takes great delight in peeing into bushes everywhere I go if he's caught short

I have all this fun to come with ds2 in the summer

It's snowing here too. Madness.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/03/2012 13:51

DS1 was 2.1 and he decided it was time I might add, I didn't force him into it.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 04/03/2012 15:52

Anyone around with a pointy stick? I am seriously lacking motivation and the kitchen needs sorting so I can do dinner.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 04/03/2012 16:01

------> < Prods self halfheartedly with pointy stick and drags self off to kitchen >

Scout19075 · 04/03/2012 16:25

Yes, we have snow here, too. But it's recent -- it was sleeting when we got in half-an-hour ago.

Have done very little except the necessary this weekend -- have been enjoying my time with my boys. I consider that more necessary than, say, the laundry or ironing. Grin

bessie26 · 04/03/2012 16:31

BC you should ask on the potty training boards. We took DD1 out to buy some pants, thinking that we'd do it soon, but she demanded to wear them when we got home & that was it! She got the hang of the potty straight away (with lots of sticker rewards) but 6m later she is now refusing to use the loo. Also, when she's at pre-school she simply CBA to stop playing & have a wee! (This is why we've just started doing a reward chart)

Sorry, that wasn't very helpful Blush

Scout19075 · 04/03/2012 17:12

How on earth are those kids outside on the trampoline in the sleet? [boggled mind]

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/03/2012 17:18

I haven't done much either, like the pre-school uniform and dh's shirts that need ironing for tomorrow as an example, but my mam did walk in today and remark how clean and tidy my kitchen looked.

YAY Grin

Scout19075 · 04/03/2012 18:35

Preschooler's in uniform?

I need to do the ironing of work shirts but will do that after dinner (don't really want to do with Toddler up/running around). Need to do some Seniors emails and ordering but will do that after dinner, too.

liveinazoo · 04/03/2012 18:51

So far we have a score of floor 1, potty 0. Straight after she did wee on the floor DH put a nappy on her Hmm. I was up stairs at the time.

Might try again tomorrow afternoon (she is at nursery in the morning).

Zoo I know what you mean about glad when they go to bed! Some days I just can't wait for the peace and quiet!
