Starting from March 1st lets babystep our way through the month, throwing in the odd mission.

Sign up here if you want to join in.

We have pointy sticks -> to get you off the sofa and chocolate and stickers as rewards.

Let's end our CHAOS and enjoy our sparkly homes.

If it wasn't part of the meal you served then you probably were wise to say no as he will be asking for all sorts if you go down that road.

You could offer a tiny buffet at meal times. If you are having casserole then I would put a small spoonful of that down but with a few things you know he will eat alongside it. After a while he will go back to eating the casserole and the other things can be gradually reduced. The fact that a few acceptable foods are there might make him accept the plateful.

The alternative is what you are doing and putting down the family meal and letting him get on with it or not as the case may be. That is probably the quickest and clearest solution.

If you counted his calories for the day it is probably enough and he may well be full up by teatime.

Sooner or later he will have a growth spurt and he will scoff half the contents of the cupboard Grin

Thanks for your kind words/support. I'll stop whittering on about it now Grin

bessie26 · 13/03/2012 22:01

I agree with carrots, that seems a reasonable amount of food for today.

Have you tried getting him involved with making the food? (another ploy we used sucessfully with DD1 a while back) - DIY pizza was always good fun (although she'd eat so much of the topping while making it she couldn't manage much when it was cooked), building her own wraps, letting her spread her own PBJ/marmite sandwiches, letting her "help" put the carrots in the casserole dish, squeezing one of those fruit pouches over her yogurt...

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 13/03/2012 22:15

I have in the past yes, although I'll admit to it being more lunchtime than tea time. I absolutely believe that if I put pizza in front of him at tea time, or fishfingers and chips, he'd have eaten it - this truly is just battle of the wills.

One of the teaching assistants commented the other morning about him believing everything had to be on 'his terms'. This is one of those things I think, where he thinks he can make the rules. I'll go with it to a degree as I hate the thought of this becoming an actual 'issue'.

bessie26 · 13/03/2012 22:46

chaotic why not give him pizza or fish fingers? (obvs healthy versions!) Or will he then demand ask for it every night?

Morning all

I worry bessie that if he refuses to eat 'proper' food and then the 'treat' food comes out, just to make him eat, then he'll expect that and dig his heels in further for it.

He slept all night (not that his brother did ) and so he can't be doing too badly on hardly eating between 1pm and 7am Confused

Ta da so far
Breakfast for children
dw emptied
Dishes put away from drainer that I couldn't be arsed to do last night

CamperWidow · 14/03/2012 08:29

bessie26 · 14/03/2012 08:49

Oooooh camper how is the shred thing? Do I need to get it?

That's an understandable concern chaotic... could you trick him into thinking other food is a "treat"? (sweet potato mash? Strawberries) or somehow stop pizza being seen as a treat? Or perhaps then he wouldn't even eat that?! I'll shut up now, he's not waking in the night, so he must be getting enough grub inside him! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 14/03/2012 09:30

bessie are you still there?

I am looking for the link for your feta and spinach muffins and can't find it. I can't find it on your blog either. Any chance you could point me in the right direction please?

carrotsandcelery · 14/03/2012 14:58

bessie I can't believe that was a year ago.

How many days will you be at work?

What sort of hours will you do?

Scout and bessie you have redeemed yourselves.
zoo you are off the hook.

The rest of you will be facing a punishment exercise (possibly poo scooping in my back garden after a very old dog Shock) if you don't get some lists up here quick smart.

BC you can summon one load of washing up -->

Erm...I'd better get my arse off mn and do something then Grin

bessie26 · 14/03/2012 15:05

carrots I will do 3 'normal' days at work - prob 8:30-4:30ish. The girls will be at their GP one day, and 2 days at nursery/pre-school. We are thinking about putting DD1 into nursery for another day a week so that I get one day at home with DD2 & I can take her swimming, but need to work out if we can afford to do that.

right... must stop arsing around on here & clean!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 14/03/2012 15:14

Aaaarrrgghhhhh. I've just got bleach on my navy cardigan.

I blame you carrots for guilting me into getting off my backside and doing actual housework
