Ooooh Congrats to BC's GP! - 60 years? mine have reached 65years (but I think I am older than you!?), must phone them later. and excellent news that DD has settled into nursery so well & loves counting! Grin

DD1 has taken her reward chart & stickers into pre-school today - fx it works & I don't have loads of washing to do when she gets home!

Oh sorry, x posts Scout. Does he seem off colour in any way other than not eating? I know it is a worry but it is really normal for toddlers to do this. If he seems physically uncomfortable then some Calpol might help. Otherwise keep a close eye for other symptoms but try not to get too anxious. If it continues take him to be checked by the doc. Don't go too far with the encouraging food though. That can be the starting point of faddy eating if they refuse stuff and more and more treat like foods appear. It's a really fine line between making sure he eats and encouraging healthy eating. Good luck!

scout did you try giving him some calpol? Will he eat soft foods like ice cream soup? Think about what he has eaten over the week rather than today.

When DD1 reached about 2.5-3yrs her appetite dropped dramatically, I think their growth rate drops off & they just don't need as many calories are they used to and they get really picky I really have to limit her snacks now or she just won't eat her meals.

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 12:31

My parents are at around 45 years so maybe 65 makes more sense bessie. It depends at what age they had their dcs. My dmum was 30 the year she had me and that was considered old in those days. I was 28 when I had dd and was considered extremely young Shock

IME they eat what they need. Sometimes that's a lot less than we think they need - I know ds1 eats very little at 3.3yo but occassionally he'll have a spurt of eating lots, then go back to picking again. I honestly wouldn't worry at all.

I might not be around much today as I have a job application to do. Wish me luck!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 07/03/2012 12:47

Good luck! Chaotic

Noone has the anniversary right yet.

I still need to get lunch Shock so will be later than 1.00 cleaning

BC 70 years?

Toddler's still sleeping normally and weeing and pooing like a trooper (and he's fairly regular in terms of times to poo, too). Sorry, TMI. Blush I guess it probably is his teeth. He's been living on pasta and cereal and parts of cheese sandwich. Will try him with soup tomorrow -- I was going to have minestrone so I'll see how he goes. He does have snacks, but it's usually the oaty bar/fruit variety. Might try him with some mid-morning toast with spread on it (he likes toast) to get more fruit and stuff in him. When I got my finger in there I could feel a molar underneath (not quite to the surface to cut, but it's in there).

I guess because he's always had a big appetite I don't quite know how to handle more than a few days of picking. He does seem to look at favorites like sausages and cheeseburgers (perhaps not the healthiest of foods, but I do make homemade burgers with fresh mince) and there's that look of "oh, I really want that" but then he can't or won't. The only food he's been given that he's truly ever spat out (and this was during puree weaning as well) was green beans and he still won't touch them. The boy LOVED mince pies and Christmas cake over Christmas (I can't stand either of them) so he's not put off by strong tastes.

bessie26 · 07/03/2012 13:11

I always give mine loads of those Ella's Kitchen squeezy fruits when they are poorly. A very easy way to get fluids & goodness into them!

70 years is a very long time, I would have to live to 105 to match that! Shock
