Starting from March 1st lets babystep our way through the month, throwing in the odd mission.

Sign up here if you want to join in.

We have pointy sticks -> to get you off the sofa and chocolate and stickers as rewards.

Let's end our CHAOS and enjoy our sparkly homes.

We had a late dinner so we had dinner in front of the tv.

Have actually managed to tick off most of my lengthy to do list today. AND did one or two things on tomorrow's list, too.

bessie26 · 06/03/2012 21:31

carrots so glad DS had such a happy end to the day! Grin

Thanks for the recipe chaotic!

Unless anyone has any better claims I am going to award the dullest job sticker award to scout for doing so much boring ironing. And as I am unable to make a decision, scout and chaotic can share the yukkiest job prize. Nappy bins are gross & cleaning the sticky inside of a car on a cold damp day like today is beyond the call of duty IMO.

I have done LOADS today Flying is defninately easier when there are no DC around! Tomorrow I'm going to try to do more missions (I scrubbed the worktops today), and some decluttering in the living room. [determined]

BlackCatTryingToFly · 07/03/2012 05:42

Morning all, anyone else around yet?

I got a bit more sleep last night but am up early 5.00am.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 07/03/2012 05:54

Zoo I have sent you a PM.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 07/03/2012 05:56

* Babystep 7 *

Scout19075 · 07/03/2012 06:40

Blurgh, morning. Ugh.

bessie26 · 07/03/2012 07:20

Morning! I was woken at 5am by DD2, but thankfully she let me go back to sleep.

I do this babystep sometimes for the DC (when we have to be up & out early) - does anyone do it everyday?

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 08:38

bessie - We do it for ds's clothes as getting dressed in the morning is a flash point for him and if it is all there ready then he is more likely to do it quickly and without a fuss.

If I am doing my babysteps properly I also make sure I have something ironed ready to wear but I don't lay it out. It says it all about my housekeeping if I sometimes am at the stage of ironing on demand Blush

bessie I took your advice and made getting ready a game this morning with ds and he got ready with no problems whatsoever - even teeth brushed. Thank you Thanks as it is the sort of thing that makes a difference to my day. I know to do it but lack of sleep and things on your mind and you forget very quickly.

bessie, I used to when I was a "single career woman" so I could get maximum time in bed. Now I wear "toddler combat clothes" of jeans and a tee-shirt and hoodie (usually a Guiding one or a university one) so not much thought needs to be put into it. Only if I'm going somewhere special do I consider sorting out clothes the night or several nights before.

Toddler has had another uncharacteristic lie-in of 8:45. Shock He's usually up around 6:30, no matter what time he went to bed. And he'll still nap today. Days like today I think he's making up for all the sleep he missed out when he was new and giving me a much needed extra hour of rest/respite. I did hear a squeak of "oh, the trucks!" when the recycling truck came by so he's missed the highlight of his Wednesday mornings -- going out and waving to the binmen.

I've managed to clear up from last night (Blushes at the thought of the mess I made and didn't clear up) and restocked the nappy bag with more nappies, wipes and travel-friendly toddler snacks & drink.

Off to go fetch TS and start his day.

bessie26 · 07/03/2012 08:54

Glad the tooth brushing went well carrots - any suggestions on how to persuade a 10m old how to give me her toothbrush? She seems to have become very attached to it this morning! Grin

You have reminded me that I used to choose my clothes the night before I went to work (mainly to check I didn't need to do any emergency ironing). Which has reminded me that I need to dig out my work clothes & see how much of it I would wear again!

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 09:22

bessie will dd2 do a game of swaps for her toothbrush? That used to work with mine. They would give me x if I gave them y. Is she still teething? Maybe it is good to chew on and if you pass something else good to chew on then she will give it up. Sometimes you have to hand more than they can hold in one hand or they will hold it in one hand and the new thing in the other.

When they are older just telling them they had to hold on to their toothbrush would be enough for it to be dropped Grin

Uggghhh! at the thought of work clothes bessie. You clearly deserve a whole new wardrobe if you have to go back to work. Wink

When I was a WAHM (what does that stand for anyway?) I had one suit and 2 tops and that was it. (I worked 2 days). I had lost a lot of weight after I had dd and everything was too big. It all went in the wash after day 2 at work ready for the next week. It was boring but at the time it meant no mental activity was required for choosing clothes.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 09:24

Ooops! I wasn't a WAHM I was a WOHM! Not that I knew it at the time! Shock I wish I had known about mumsnet then.

I will be back hopefully around lunch time as I need to be somewhere.

"See" you all later. x

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 09:51

BC you are right. It is not like zoo not to have logged in by now.

I have done my usual wm, dw, worktops etc. I just need to hoover and s&s and then I can try to make progress.

I will have to go to the supermarket as we are running low on toilet paper amongst other things.

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 10:43

Hello zoo. I am glad you are around although not that you are feeling poorly and have poorly dcs. Sad

I have got glued to the sofa eating rubbish left over from last night. I have been having a great time reading about weird dinner parties on mumsnet.

I am jabbing myself with the pointy stick to go and do something. I usually love the supermarket but I can't face the thought of it just now. Bizarelly I fancy doing some dusting and ironing instead. It must be all the additives Grin

bessie26 · 07/03/2012 10:52

I tried on the bag of work clothes. Some I hate, the rest I dislike, a few appear to have shrunk Blush My first day back in the office is May 15, so I don't need to panic yet, but I do always have terrible trouble finding trousers that fit, so can't leave it until the last minute.

I've done all the usual stuff & scrubbed the last bit of worktop. Will go shake the toaster now!

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 11:42

I have dusted and POLISHED the lounge, hallway, master bedroom and spare bedroom. I have also hoovered them all, including the sofa.

I have rewarded myself with a few grapes.

bessie getting work trousers is a nightmare. It doesn't matter how fat or thin I am getting a fit is tricky.

I have broad hips and a big rear end but a teeny weeny waist (although post ds it is not as teeny as it was). I am a proper hour glass shape no matter how much my weight fluctuates.

My best fits were always M&S or Monsoon but I haven't bought for years so they may have changed them. I also had a good pair from Wallis. In those days the fashion was wide legged flat fronted ones and I liked them with a bit of weight so they hung well. The fashion may be the same, I have no idea.

You might have to be brave and venture into S&B for advice. I have found that asking there does cut the time wasted hunting through the shops.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 07/03/2012 12:14

I have shaken half a loaf of bread out of the toaster & made & eaten zoo's lentil & ginger stew for lunch

I used to get my work trousers from M&S, so that will probably be my first port of call after braving S&B for some style advice. I work in an office full of old men, so no need to be too trendy! I would wear skirts, but the office is sooooo cold (air-con) that I would have to wear tights, which would then be a bit yukky when I went outside into the glorious summer sunshine (!!)

DD2 had a huge nap this morning, & keeps fiddling with her ear, so I'm going to take her to the Drs later to check her ear infection has cleared up (swimming tomorrow)

BlackCatTryingToFly · 07/03/2012 12:17

Today is a special day! My nan and grandads Anniversary Smile. Can anyone guess how long they have been married?
That is where I have been.

Sorry you are not feeling too good Zoo Sad

I have also been to see DD's nursery teacher to see how she is doing and she said she is fine and is really good with numbers (counting).Grin

Scout19075 · 07/03/2012 12:22

I'm wondering at what point to start to worry about Toddler's dramatically decreased appetite. The boy used to be able to polish off up to 3/4 of a sandwich (and I mean 3/4 of a whole sandwich) and now he's barely managing 1/4 of a half of sandwich. Same with cereal -- he'd eat 2-3 bowls and then have yogurt and still be looking for more and now he's barely getting through one bowl. I've decided he's going to have "picnic dinner" at Seniors tonight and I'm going to make it up while he's napping and hide more stuff in it (pasta salad with sauce, which he loves, and peas & carrots, which he also loves, and cheeseburger, which again he loves). We had cheeseburgers last night so I'll crumble some up for him (otherwise I'd make a sausage to put in because he likes those, too). It's not like he's gorging on biscuits and cakes (rarely has them, though does like the Organix Oaty Bars so will have one or two of them a day).

Sorry for the off-topic whinge but am trying to plan out the rest of my day and make sure I have everything for tonight.

carrotsandcelery · 07/03/2012 12:23

I guess at 60 years BC. Do I get a prize if I am right?

Well done to littlekitten - it is so encouraging when you hear they are doing well.

Ds is doing a presentation today so I am anxious to hear how it goes. He has done the prep but it is a big ask for a child who has anxiety issues. He was excited about it this morning though so fingers crossed.

bessie Grin at the old men. How fab not to feel the pressure to glam up too much though. For my job (school) the issue was finding tops that didn't reveal ANYTHING as I spent so much time with teenage boys and needed them to look at my FACE! Grin

I still haven't done anything more. I am boring myself now. I am off to see if the wm has finished and if it has I am going to walk the dogs and nip in for loo roll at the supermarket. It is highly exciting being me Wink
