I would take the shredding to your inlaws and do it there. Dh keeps talking of getting a shredder but I am too scared after ds tried to put his fingers in the one in the GP surgery. Shock

I have made the rest of tonight's meal (roast potatoes and parsnips) and will switch them on later in the afternoon. I have also done the worktops and put the dw on.

I still have the table and kitchen floor to see to. I have been distracted by phone calls and emails I have had to attend to. One of them quite exciting about a dog who needs a new home. Fx we might be the right home for her.

I am trying not to wind myself up about ds's friend coming to play this afternoon. He was tired this am and my stomach is beginning to churn about it.

Maybe I should do that ironing now before they are charging around again.

Well done everyone on your jobs! Smile

I am going to take some time out and chill for a bit before school run.

I may return later on.

Scout19075 · 02/02/2012 14:25

I need more of the boot and shoe boxes. Wonder if I can go out for 1/2 hour tonight and pick up some more.... Grin

TS is still really snotty so I don't think we going anywhere today. I have lots to take to the recycling center, too, and I really want some more of those boxes.

bessie26 · 02/02/2012 15:12

carrots glad you are going to keep up with the riding - it's important to do something for yourself.

I've just sat down with a cup of miso soup & DD2 has woken up so will have to be quick!

I have:

  • cleaned both the loos etc
  • mopped kitchen & utility floors

I was just about to go through the boxes, perhaps DD2 will be happy to watch me do it.

I forgot to tell you all how much better I have been feeling since I went for that spa thing & massage a couple of weeks ago - I've been sleeping SO much better & aren't feeling tired all the time - yay! I think you should all go for one too - perhaps drop some hints for a valentines present? Grin

I also forgot that we have some friends coming round tomorrow morning to play, so think I will have to sort out some of those toys myself tonight.

Scout19075 · 02/02/2012 15:15

I've been re-arranging/organizing all of the DVDs and video games (we have both an XBox and a Wii Blush). Ahhh, bliss. However, we seem to have three copies of one DVD and two copies of two other sets. Hmm We were also given a box set that has several DVDs we were given singlely. I'm getting rid of the singles that are duplicated in the set as well as any of the duplicate DVDs. I'm pulling out any cartoon/kid friendly DVDs, as well as some of the more "educational" ones (we have lots of ones like Frozen Planet), and have dedicated a shelf on the bookcase just for TS. I've also pulled out some of my box sets (Freak Like Me, Dead Like Me, My So-Called Life, Big Love) to put on a shelf in our DVD case so I have easy access to them during the day (I can only have on so much day-time tv before I go nuts -- I don't normally have the TV on when TS is up but when he's napping or busy I like to have something on in the background to keep me company). MrScout and I are very behind in catching up with some of our series (like Lost and House) and really need to catch up. Blush

Scout19075 · 02/02/2012 15:33

That should be Freaks & Geeks. Blush Stupid overly sensitive mouse and my lack of proof-reading.

carrotsandcelery · 02/02/2012 15:57

I have watched something on the "on demand" before school pick up the last 2 days and it does make you take a wee rest before the next round when the dcs come home or you are running around with the dcs taking them to activities. I seem to be obsessed with 15 kids... and OBEM - both things there is no way dh would watch. He makes enough fuss about "Call the Midwife" and makes lots of noise with the dishwasher, kettle etc while I am watching it. Hmm

Playdate seems to be going ok so far. Fingers crossed. I have managed to clean the worktops again and fold yesterday's laundry while they have been playing and tidy the stairs as well.

I struggle to relax though, waiting for ds to start. I hear what you said zoo I think it was about transferring my anxiety. I am trying to be oh so chilled. Grin

I have also swept the floor (while I watched OBEM) so the only thing from my to do list I haven't done is the ironing and ds's bedroom. I might get the ironing done later but ds's bedroom will have to wait for now.

DD2 is playing on her mat. I am just about to set my timer for 15min & have a first go at the toy mountain. Wish me luck.

carrotsandcelery · 02/02/2012 16:06

Good luck bessie and thanks for the Brew (is there anything stronger in it?) I will get one ready for you when you emerge from Everest Grin

I need to go to the kitchen and do some tidying and cooking.

bessie26 · 02/02/2012 16:37

hehehe is TS being "challenging" today? Grin DD1 will be tired & a nightmare later, must try to get her in bed early tonight so she's in a god mood for playing in the morning!

I have created a pathway into toy mountain & all remaining toys are now accessible. Spacehopper has been hidden in view of tomorrow's visitors.

currently shovelling soup into DD2 - it's looking tight, but we might just make it to pick DD2 up from pre-school by 5pm!

Ds did really well again today. I don't think he could have done another few hours but he was great for the time that they were together. Yay! Grin Well done minicarrots Grin

He is whiney now but I am just letting it wash over me and ignoring it.

carrots----> IRONGrin
welldone minicarrrots!!!!

Scout19075 · 02/02/2012 18:50

YAY MiniCarrots!!!

TS has only been challenging since about 3:30-ish. He's up in bed (a bit early again). I do try to pick my battles but ARGH. During his dinner (he didn't like the chicken, BTW, but I'm not surprised) he got up out of his highchair, twisted around and sat on his tray, right in his plate of pasta with sausages & veg and red sauce. ARGH!

It's a good thing he's cute and that most of the time he's a laid back happy chappy or I'd be selling him on the internet. Wink

Turns out MrScout isn't home until 8:30 so I have 90 minutes to crack on. I'm going to finish sorting the DVDs, wash up what dishes I can and have some dessert.

carrots Have you ironed?

bessie Did you make the 5 o'clock pick up?

Black Did you get your dinner made?

bessie26 · 02/02/2012 19:12

Ah, that's excellent news carrots ! Good news here too, although DD1 has been very close to melting down, we've not had any tiredness induced tantrums (yet - DH is reading her story, so there's still time yet!

Thought some of you might like this link for meals you can freeze

Someone mentioned the other day about their DC being woken up by the sun streaming through the open door? DD2 was the same, so I've been slowly (10-15min a few times a day) moving her room around (including wiping the skirting board & floor) so now I can open the door without worrying about waking her up! I've also identified a load of stuff to go up into the loft & to charity shops - yay!

bessie26 · 02/02/2012 19:15

I'm sorry scout, but I can't help but laugh at TS's red pasta bum! Grin

Yes, we just made it there by 5, that's probably the first time since I've been on mat leave!

Scout19075 · 02/02/2012 19:39

Looks like MrScout's now arriving home around 9:30. Hmm

Why am I still sitting on my butt watching Come Dine With Me?

Yes, bessie, I can laugh about TS's red bum now (but at the time I was a bit more Hmm and Shock and even a bit Angry).
