What is the princess thread?

liveinazoo · 19/01/2012 18:58

ds was 6 in december.hes been wanting to ride since he was 3...has never been afraid of them(i used to be)
he had very low muscle tone as a baby due to genetic issues and he finds the 30mins riding tiring and he finds it hard to lift up and down during canter but he is dwtermined and adores it.his favourite is called minty and he made a stocking and filled it with polos and carrots for him for xmasGrin

cairnterrier · 19/01/2012 19:45

Evening everyone

Just been catching up on everyone's thread, sounds like you've all been as busy as ever. I'm finally recovered from my cold/flu thing - hurrah!

Ta Dahs:
washed and dressed (and now bathed and back in my PJs!)
dishwasher loaded and on
washing folded
next load put on
bath wiped down from excess use of bath crayons by DS
DS lunch made
both of us fed for tea
been into town to get wedding present for difficult to buy for couple
listened in on the angst in John Lewis cafe as people, shock, horror, might have to use paper cups as the dishwasher had broken - I mean the number of people who trailed to the cafe upstairs JUST so they could use proper crockery!!!

To Dos:
clear dishwasher and restock w plates from tea
clear toys from living room
remove fridge magnets from washing basket/toy ship and replace on fridge.
place washing in washing basket and take upstairs and put away.
bed by 8.30 and do a bit more of DS's sampler.

No missions or hotspots but am still getting back up to speed after my non-starter to the week. We've got a good day planned for tomorrow though, music class in the morning then meeting friends in the afternoon. Pizza for tea I think - I bought a rotary cheese grater today as am hoping to get DS a bit more involved in cooking and hopefully eating vegetables.

Will check in again once that little lot is done.

carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2012 21:00

bessie the princess thread is a thread a bit like this but you have to do 20 things every day to keep your body beautiful.

You asked earlier about the dcs getting their toys out and they don't at bed time. They play with soft toys in bed sometime but they are both such early risers they are fairly keen to get to sleep.

Ds stayed in his own bed until the end of his story and then had a massive panic attack and was totally petrified. He is now in dh's bed. Shock

I am not sure if I would be seen as giving in to the panic attack but they psychologists wanted him to stay in our bed just now. I only moved him because he decided he wanted to try. I don't want him never to want to try anything. We see the psychologist on Monday so I will ask about it then.

zoo horse riding will probably help build muscle tone if he is able to do that. It builds the core muscles really well. When I rode regularly I had a completely flat stomach without really being aware of it and despite never having been a skinny person. It is great for posture and strength. It is also fantastic for self confidence. It is just great fun too though. Grin

Cairn nice to see you are still with us and you are feeling a bit better. Just take it steady and build up gradually again as you get back into things.

Was going guns ablazin' today, even into this afternoon (I'm normally best in the morning and evening (if MrScout's not around)) but got bad news from the doctor just after lunch so everything just stopped. Gah. We're going to the ILs in the morning for the weekend so no flying for the weekend. We had a take away pizza so I wouldn't have to cook or wash up (well, very little washing up compared to making a meal).

Off to pack for the weekend. Mom's due to call around 10 our time -- will talk to her from bed so I can go to sleep when I get off the phone (I'm exhausted).

bessie26 · 19/01/2012 21:08

I am in my PJs. In bed. Eating chocolate.Grin

carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2012 21:10

Oh Scout - I am so sorry to hear you got bad news from the doctor. Sad I hope you manage to relax and have a rest at the weekend. xx

OP posts:
bessie26 · 19/01/2012 21:19

scout hope you are ok?

Envy at carrots free prescriptions!
Surely it must be a good thing that DS wanted to try sleeping in his own bed?

[zoo] DH & I each have a small plastic basket which lives in the cupboard under the sink in the bathroom for our every day toiletries, everything else (face packs etc) has to live in a drawer in the bedroom.

good luck with your deadline egg - no playing on MN until it's done!

cairn glad you're feeling better. Do your bath crayons stain the grout? I got some for DD1 ages ago, but threw them away as they said they said they might (we have a nice new bathroom with lovely white tiles & grout).
Hope your DS enjoys the pizza, whenever we do DIY pizza DD1 eats so much of the toppings while she's making them, she's full by the time they're cooked! Grin

Both girls were crying at bathtime, DD1 because she was tired & DD2 was either teeth, or because DD1 was. I get really drained by them crying - especially both at the same time in a small room. Anyway, they both went to sleep ok, fx they stay asleep as DH has gone out!

SO I decided I wasn't going to sit down until I had done everything:

  • washed the clothes in soak & all the kids dirty clothes
  • bought a small present for DD1 (some nice colouring pencils) which she got as she had no accidents at pre-school again today
  • had tea with DD2
  • picked DD1 up from pre-school
  • 5 min Room Rescue - living room
  • shine sink
  • lay out clothes for tomorrow

I'm just waiting for the machine to finish so I can put on another wash

  • 15 Minutes declutter - dining room - will have to wait for another day
redlac · 19/01/2012 21:27

Evening all

I'm not well. Still struggling along to work but not managing much else (apart from shining my sink)

I'll go before I spread virtual germs but wanted to check in

Hope everyone is okay

carrotsandcelery · 19/01/2012 21:31

That sounds like a tricky bathtime bessie - you can guarantee it will happen the day you are on your own.

I had to treat dd's hair and comb it again tonight. Of course that was the night ds would want to try upstairs and dh would not be home Shock

Dd has only just gone to bed. Luckily it is Friday tomorrow and we have nothing on after school.

OP posts:
cairnterrier · 19/01/2012 21:35

Scout sorry to hear that you've had bad news from the doctor. Do you have people around you that you can talk to?

carrotsandcelery glad you enjoyed the horse riding - are you walking like John Wayne now?

bessie I too am now in bed although alas all the chocolates were eaten earlier. DS is a confirmed vegetable avoider so my current cunning plan is to get him used to safe foods - pasta, pizza, wraps etc, etc and then gradually start to introduce vegetables again. We had a triumphant moment 2 days ago when he asked to try a raw carrot, admittedly he wasn't keen but at least he asked to try! Frustratingly I've got lots of pictures of him when he was weaning (BLW) eating broccoli, avocado, carrots, potatoes, spinach in pasta sauce, etc, etc. Now they're all sent back with a very polite 'No Mummy, not carrots' etc, etc.

Re the bath crayons, DS is only allowed to draw on the bath with them so am not sure about the grouting issue. We're in a rented house so any stained grout would be a bit of a no-no!

Anyway all to dos are done and hotspots identified for tomorrow - top of the bookcase next to the front door and the end of the kitchen counter (message for myself in case I forget tomorrow!)

Night night everyone, thoughts are with you Scout.

bessie26 · 20/01/2012 07:10

Babystep 20 - include laundry in your morning & evening routines.

cairnterrier · 20/01/2012 07:48

Morning all

Laundry on with the help of DS. Just out of interest, I never have the washing machine or dishwasher on when I'm out of the house as I like to be here when they're on and in fact in our previous house, it was a condition of the tenancy that we had to be in if the washing machine was on. Does everyone else do this or do you put things on and go out. The idea of a slow cooker brings me out in goose pimples - having something hot, on in the house, when there's no-one else there????

Anyway, to do list:

up and dressed to shoes/socks
finish stacking DW from breakfast (only to be switched on when we're back in the house!).
hang out laundry,
put away folded washing from yesterday
DS to music class
pick up things for tonights meal on the way home
strip and wash bed linen.

Will see how I get on with that lot and go from there. What are anyone else's plans?

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 10:03

Morning everyone.

I think most of us have naturally added laundry to the washing routine already so that one is not too tricky for many of us. It's a great routine to start if you haven't already as it does keep everything ticking along without stress.

I have folded yesterday's load, hung a load and put my trainers in for a freshen up.

I do put things on when we go to bed and when we are out but a friend's dishwasher burst into flames a few days ago so it is a timely warning not to do it. I will have to make a mental note to try to time things so that we dont.

On that note, we should maybe all check our smoke alarms. I can't remember when I last did that.

Ta Das:
Washing
Washed and dressed
Lunches dealt with and dcs to school

That is about it so far today. I am having my breakfast and a Brew and then getting going again.

I am walking a bit funny today after the stables yesterday so I need to keep my muscles moving Shock

today's mission is one I need to do

OP posts:
redlac · 20/01/2012 10:52

Morning!
Feeling a bit better today so managed to read the thread :)

Scout hope everything with you and yours is okay,

cairn I admit to putting a washing on when I am not in - it has a timer on it so I get time it so its finished for when I get back from work and be ready to hang out. I do also leave my slow cooker on in the house unattended. I will however be following carrots suggestion about checking smoke alarms.

carrots hope you aren't walking like John Wayne too much :)

bessie thanks for the link - I have finally cleared the ironing pile however haven't put a wash on today but will do when I get home

I too have finished my christmas chocolate however I will offer some Brew and [biscuits] which have been pinched from the secret stash at work.

Have a good day

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 11:22

Hi redlac - glad you are ok.

I am not too John Wayne but a little bit cautious Grin I also coughed and realised how sore my stomach muscles were Blush

I have been working my way through a massive pile of ironing (mostly from the backlog in the utility room). Hopefully a backlog will soon be a thing of the past. I watched that programme about massive families while I was doing it so it kept me going as I was determined to iron for the full programme.

I watched on Channel 4 on demand and was surprised by how well it worked. It thought it would stop and start like clips do on youtube but it played just like the tv. I am ridiculously chuffed with this discovery Grin

I am having a wee rest and a glass of water and then I will get onto the next job.

What has everyone else been doing?

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 12:14

Right, that is my mission done. It seemed daft to clean the baseboards without cleaning the bathroom first so I did the bath, loo and whb and then the vanity tops. Then I thought I should do the towel rail (we have one of those ladder style chrome ones so it takes a minute or two to do the rungs). Then I cleaned the bin and loobrush holder. Then I hoovered and THEN I realised we don't have baseboards really as the tiles on the wall go down to the tiles on the floor - SO I mopped the floor instead (since I have done everything else in there). It doesn't take 2 minutes in that room as it is tiny, unlike the kitchen last week which was a trauma.

I now want to set up crime scene tape and keep everyone out of the room so it stays lovely and sparkly and clean. It is lovely to know it is clean right to the back of the cupboards in there.

Shame about the rest of the house Grin

I have also hung up the wash to dry - it doesn't take long when it is just 2 trainers Wink There isn't enough for a load just now but school uniforms tonight should sort that out.

celery i saw that programme.i doubt id even be able to hear myseld think let alone follow flyladys instructions with 16 kids!!!!>did you notice none of the houses were cluttered/dirty?Hmm

BlackCatTryingToFly · 20/01/2012 12:27

Hi all, just thought I'd pop in as it's lunch time.
I caught up on sleep last night so feel a bit better today. I haven't had time for "Flying" so far today as I am dealing with other "real life" stuff.
Had to get the breakdown people out for my car today, it had battery problems which are hopefully fixed for now.

Hope you are all well. Smile

cairnterrier · 20/01/2012 12:33

Am going to be v lazy and miss out the mission as they've just been done due to house inspection. I really need to run the vacuum around but DS is asleep and he currently finds it 'too scary mummy'. Will do that tomorrow when DH is here to distract.

Really need to go and investigate the contents of the freezer anyway. Didn't get a chance to get to the shops this morning as DS was wiped out after his music class and not sure we'll get a chance to go this afternoon either.

How's everyone else getting on?

Ta-Dahs
up and dressed to socks
DW stacked and loaded
1st lot of laundry sorted and in tumble dryer
our bed stripped and changed
1st hotspot put out.
work e-mails dealt with

To-Dos
take DS to park to meet friends
put bed linen in to wash
2nd hotspot to put out.
wipe around bathroom when DS is in the bath
put croissants out to rise overnight for nice breakfast tomorrow

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 12:34

I did notice that zoo and have been thinking about it. I wondered if:

a) they had had a massive tidy up ready for the tv cameras Grin
b) they all had jobs to do so nothing got out of hand
c) they were in perpetual motion so nothing got out of hand
d) so much money is spent on food that they don't have anything else so nothing to make a mess with
e) it was all in the rooms we didn't see

There was a clip of the mum frantically pairing socks and sorting washing while she chatted on camera.

I was a bit Hmm that I couldn't think of seeing a toy. Maybe that is just me though. They certainly had plenty of playmates so probably didn't need much by way of toys.

Dh's parents are both from biggish families and I was always jealous. Having had 2 now though, I say hats off to them. I don't think I could do it myself. My house is a tip with just 2 Shock

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 12:37

Well done on your room zoo. Once you decide to do it it isn't as bad as you think it is going to be. If it is, you only have to be there for 15 mins Grin

Glad you got sleep BlackCat. It makes such a difference. I am glad it was just the battery in the car. It could have been so much worse.

Cairn that is an impressive list. Any chance of the croissant recipe? Smile

OP posts:
liveinazoo · 20/01/2012 12:49

least you doing something else thats equally important blackcat
i second the need for a croissant reccipeGrin
carrots now you mention it i remember seeing a baby walker type toy but that was all..maybe they dont have material stuff in house(i remember seeeing bikes in the garden)that would ease the clutter!
still wouldnt fancy keep top all that laundry or planning industrial size meals(im nearing the end of the laundry backlog and admit occasionaly when ikm tired and skint to cereal teasBlush)

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 12:59

I am really nosey. I would really like to see exactly what their daily routine was every day, what their weekly shopping bill was like, what they cooked every day (breakfast, lunch and tea), what the dcs did every day, all that sort of stuff.

Both mums looked great. I couldn't get over it. The Mum of 15 looked really fresh faced and healthy. I look like crap on 2.

When did she get washed and made up and her hair done so nicely?
Do they lay out everyone's clothes and shoes every night fly lady style?
What are their lunches stored in? (ie are they washing 10 or more lunch boxes and tupperwares every night?)
How many dishwashers do they have?
How do they afford such a big, beautiful house?
I could go on and on...

I am totally fascinated.

There would be many advantages - mine rarely play out on bikes as there is no one to play out with and there is too big an age and ability difference for it to be great fun on their own. If you had 14 brothers and sisters you always have someone to play out with.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 13:00

Maybe she has a MAHOOOSIVE slow cooker Grin
