Being a wordsy person, workwise, my whole life, I have never successfully used a spreadsheet. Even last year when I was project managing our build, I had to defer to DH for the actual inputting/updating of the finances and timescales spreadsheet. I did it all on paper, with a calculator and my trusty propelling pencil....

Anyway it's GORGEOUS here today (Essex) and the DC and I have just cycled out for lunch!!!

Ballet, what ballet?? Envy

JKSLtd · 06/01/2012 19:55

I really need to think about meal planning, but tbh my DC won't eat a lot of what you guys list.
I know that Tues is always pasta with veg & grated cheese & Wed is fish fingers + freezer chips/waffles/etc + salad-y veg.

Sat & Sun are DH's domain, sometimes Fri too.
So that leaves Mon & Thurs that need attention.

Been away for a few days, loads of washing and unpacking to do. Will leave it til tomorrow though as knackered. Sleep is always hit and miss when we go away.

Tomorrow/Sun:

  • lots of laundry
  • finish unpacking & rehoming stuff
  • bags put away
  • DS2 footie with DH
  • find school bags & get them ready for Mon
  • more reading with DS1
  • go through DS2's report pre-review on Mon
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/01/2012 20:13

Hi JKS Smile

Not got much done this afternoon, DS1 and I had cuddles on the sofa and played games on the beebies website while DS2 had a nap Smile

Boys in bed and sleeping, just the clearing up to do and then chill out, jobs can wait until tomorrow.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 06/01/2012 21:43

Mini - Nutcracker next Sunday - I tried ages ago to get you and Dsis to come too but you both said you were busy (you said you were working that weekend). Let me know if you want to come xx

OP posts:
Minimammoth · 06/01/2012 22:30

I am working. Boo. It will be fab.

JKSLtd · 07/01/2012 10:55

I've only been to the ballet once, what surprised me was how noisy they were on stage, their feet hitting the floor. Guess I expected them to be as light as they look Hmm & Grin

Forgot some bits off list yesterday, plus DH has done his back in

AnonymousBird · 07/01/2012 11:33

JKS - please don't even almost wish for a bad back!!!! Oh god, I'd give birth ten times rather than deal with it.... Hope your DH feels better soon, and you only do what you absolutely have to.... Hope you had a nice few days away.

FestiveOrganisoid · 08/01/2012 13:34

JKS I am very lucky that my dc eat most stuff, I'd go mad if they didn't especially with no dh/dp to share an adult meal with-am certainly not spending time cooking just for me! Although I changed the plan and did the lamb curry last night and they weren't keen on it, admittedly it wasn't my best effort and not sure I'd eat it again but it was ok Grin

House stinks of curry today though Sad I like the smell when it's cooking but hate how it seems to permeate the walls and smell for days after. Any good housekeeping tips to get rid???

It's sunday so the dc are playing.......schools!

JKSLtd · 08/01/2012 13:37

PMSL at playing school!
Well short term measure is to light then blow out some matches, that seems to get rid of smells.
I've never tried one but there are those 'chef's candles' that supposedly work?

I didn't use to think my kids were fussy, and at 'weaning' stage they have all eaten everything, but as DS1 has got older, he's got fussier, DS2 has obsessions with certain foods and is v reluctant to try new things though getting better. I need to get out of the rut we are in though, I got myself the BLW recipe book a while back but haven't done anything from it yet.

FestiveOrganisoid · 08/01/2012 13:47

Yeah had candles burning last night and they worked whilst they were lit but it must have been more of a cover up as today it smells very curryey again. Had window open while cooking as well...

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/01/2012 14:22

JKS - DS1 has got fussier and fussier as he's got older. He was so good when we weaned him, we used to be able to take him anywhere and feed him anything. Then he got mega fussy about 2-3 months before his 2nd birthday and it has been a bit of a battle ever since. I try him with 1 or 2 new meals/things per week in an effort to expand our menu.
What bugs me the most is that he will wolf down things like quiche and falafel, and turn his nose up at beans on toast or boiled egg. It makes lunches very expensive!!

Freak I shut the kitchen door and open the back door (which is off the kitchen) when I'm cooking something stinky, I have never found those candles particularly successful.

We have had such a massive clear out this weekend, even DH has gone through most of his drawers and boxes of cables and bits of computer crap and thrown loads away. We have some empty drawers and shelves instead of everywhere being full to bursting Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/01/2012 14:41

Done - tomorrow's dinner cooking in the slow cooker (so a change from previously listed meal plan!) - quorn mince Shepherd's pie filling. Dp will make the mash tomorrow so dinner then just needs to be a quick assembly job and some vege to go with it.

Bathroom clean except for the loo, which dp will clean later (I hope!).

Kitchen clean.

Dp has vacuumed.

Have bought lampshades for the landing and all this morning and dp has just put them up.

To do -

Make today's dinner
Do nails and dye hair
Tidy desk
Tidy knicker drawer
Order floor lamp online
Check out new bathrooms online and decide where to go to look at them irl (any tips?)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/01/2012 14:42

Lampshades for the landing and HALL - I lost my H!

JKSLtd · 08/01/2012 16:25

Remus - wish we could get a new bathroom, ours needs serious help. Think you can get a website thing where yo put the measurements in and fiddle about with where you put stuff, maybe on B&Q?

DS1 & newly for DS2's fave sandwich is chocolate spread. V healthy Hmm
And not v handy for going to places where it's not allowed re nuts.
