So far, the old sink is sat on the floor waiting for the other plumber to come and see what he thinks.
Cat 1 is v confused as he always jumps up there to try and drink from the tap while I have a wee Grin

And after a quick google, it seems most corner sink come with just 1 tap hole, i want to stay with 2. I'm not at the 'trendy, statement' sink stage, just a sfe cold tap the kids can use to wash their hands!

Made it to the dentist today Shock and made 2 more appts to get new fillings, one in the broken tooth. Not looking forward to them much.

I don't think it's too long, go for it :)

Lots of water out there...

DH is not well, his BP is far too high and he needs to go back for a 24hr machine thing to monitor it. Probably the cause of the migraines over the weekend. Hopefully a few months of boring life is all that will be prescribed.

OP posts:
FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/09/2012 16:40

Hi everyone. All ok?
Will try to come back now I have a laptop again. Reverted to mental/paper lists for a while as posting was too much hassle from phone and led to much swearing!

Ds seems to have started ok at school. Has coped well with the breakfast club/childminder/random people picking him up combo. Once he's full time I'll at least be able to pick him up three times a week myself, I currently feel very removed which is a bit rubbish for his start at school.

Kittens have all been rehomed. Bf has one of them so I still have partial custody Grin

Am currently in my annual september slump. My body just cant cope when it starts getting dark early Hmm. feels like bedtime at 8pm!

Am now working 2 full days and three mornings and havent yet managed to adjust my routine accordingly so housework is mounting. Seriously tempted to buy a tumble dryer to help keep on top of the laundry.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 24/09/2012 19:14

Hi Freakoid, I'm building up to starting a new thread. I will link to it so you can put your shiny new list on the new thread.

We have a washer drier. It is generally rainy round these parts and it is essential. Sounds like one would really helpl. You can get fancy ones now that don't crease your clothes etc.

I am in Sept slump too, have just bought apple crumble for tea to cheer us up.

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 24/09/2012 19:31

'September Slump' is a great name for it.

Dh has the 24hr monitor on. He is overweight, eats & drinks too much & doesn't exercise. So it's not really a major surprise that his health is suffering. I don't know how to make him lose weight, he has no self-control at all. And i know if he told me to lose weight i wouldn't be pleased!

Mon:

  • morning routine DONE
  • playgroup with DD DONE
  • tidy mess of toys DONE
  • maybe make pile of 'to get rid' broken cars & aeroplanes DONE
  • DD nap DONE
  • lunch & tidy kitchen DONE
  • last bits of ironing DONE & put away DONE
  • sch runs, reading, etc DONE

Tues:

  • morning routine
  • Sing & Sign with DD
  • DD nap
  • poss lunch out with DH if he's feeling better
  • collect DS1 after art club
  • DC tea, bath & bed
  • orchestra

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/09/2012 19:49

September slump is a good one. I love this time of year in lots of ways, but the drawing in of the nights sends me into hibernation!

JKS - sympathies re. DH, I hope he is ok. My DH is somewhat similar, exacerbated by work hours with lots of sitting about/driving/opportunities to eat crap and drink vats of Starbucks.
DH has been working in the city for a few months and he leaves his bike in London and cycles back and forth to the station which has improved things hugely. Once he isn't working on that contract any longer then it will be harder for him to stick with exercise I know.

Freak - how is BF? All good? Wink You must have been together a while now!
Another vote for a tumble dryer here. Mine is a separate one, not a washer, and it is such a help and very energy efficient. I won't say that we don't notice it on the bill, but it doesn't make all that much difference.

I am quite organised atm, but there are a few doom jobs lurking FILING so I must do a list otherwise it will be Christmas before I know it.
Number one on the list is buy a warm coat. I nearly froze in the playground today.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 25/09/2012 20:43

8 months Ali Grin and mostly plain sailing so far.

Is yours a condensor dryer? Have been looking online but am a bit bamboozled.

Tackling a potential flea invasion at the mo. Found some flea dirt and larvae on my bed yesterday where the cat had been sleeping. Have seen no actual fleas either in house or on cats but am guessing there must be some. Have treated cats again, sprayed and am Hoovering and washing everything! Hopefully won't get an actual infestation.

JKSLtd · 25/09/2012 21:41

Freak - good news on the BF, less good on the fleas. I hate it when the cats bring them in. I know I should be stricter with the drops but...
Hope you get rid of them.

Ali - i know that his work is stressful, plus it involves staying away from home lots, eating out (& drinking) lots and not much time for exercise. But, a lot of it is down to him, he can't just eat one biscuit, it has to be lots, or one glass of wine, he has to finish the bottle, and so on. He needs to learn self-discipline, not rely on getting to the gym, etc.
He seems a bit down atm, work isn't great, his health is not great either and he needs to do something.
We also had a long talk about DC4, he is really not sure he can cope. As well as family finances coping. Makes me :( even though we haven't ruled it out - i can't really - it's sad to know how much he wants to stop now. I wish I'd just wanted 3, and then we could be done....

We have a good tumble drier too, not a condenser, it has a vent tube thingie to the outside.

I dunno about DH really, he doesn't help himself, he can't just sit and have breakfast with DD for e.g. (once the boys have gone to sch), he has to lock himself away in his office and 'work' - i stropped this morning, not proud to admit but i want to get through his thick skull that there was nothing that needed doing at 8.30, no-one was in any office anywhere else and there is nothing for him to be doing that couldn't wait. grr.
As for DC4, hey ho, i'll guess i'll just have to wait a while (was planning to anyway) and let these 3 grow up a bit and see if life gets easier from his POV.

I never would have thought of myself as particularly laid-back, but compared to him I am Hmm

Trying to deal with old neighbour who's not doing well, v :( and not sure what more I can realistically do.

Right, it's Friday again already, PIL are coming in a few days, we are going away on Wed and nothing is ready. The spare room is a bombsite of too small clothes & baby toys, and I've not even started writing out lists/instructions/routines for PIL to help them.

Today:

  • attack spare room
  • lots of stuff ready for loft
  • put stuff in loft if possible (otherwise tomorrow when DH is about)
  • text friends re park later
  • tackle kitchen, dw, wm, etc
  • start clearing inbox
  • collect DS1 (remember money for cakes) & park with him & DD (DS2 & DH maybe join us later)
  • try and pop in to elderly neighbour
  • DC tea, bath & bed
  • me & DH out to quiz night with fish & chips :)

Freak - 8 months! Grin Eeek on fleas, hope you have nipped it in the bud.

JKS - argh that would annoy me. We had a big barney last year about similar behaviour, basically that one of his managers at his last job would ring up for a chat at 6.30 on the dot every evening. This guy had grown up kids, and a wife who didn't work - and he would ring DH as he was driving home, basically because he was bored.
I completely freaked, because 6.30 is mayhem here and he would be stuck in the study waffling on with this guy FOR NO REASON. I had my suspicions that he was almost encouraging it because it gave him a reason to avoid the chaos for 20 minutes more.
I really sympathise about DC4. I would love DC3, but for various reasons it isn't feasible. DH is much more against it than I am though and it is a bit of a bone of contention.

Right I've got a list today. DS2's sleep has gone totally up the spout and I've got behind because I'm so tired.

DONE
Morning and school run
Strip our bed and wash the sheets
General tidy
DS2 nap - in progress
Online banking

TO DO
Finish sorting the kitchen
Check meal plans for the weekend and buy anything we are missing
Find or buy autumn things - hats/gloves/tissues/wellies for DS2/coat audit for everyone
Sheets on the line and next load on
Pick DS1 up at 1.15
Relax for the afternoon in front of the golf - if the boys will let me!
