Evening.
Just checking in before bed.
Linzer, I joint twitter a while ago after starting a thread here asking what the deal was etc and really got into it. For a few months, before I fell off that too.
I still tweet occasionally but struggle to keep it below the 140 character limit. Like to ramble on you see!

I did shine my sink earlier, but then dp made a bit of a mess cooking burgers (not sure why he needed 2 frying pans) so I will get up to a non-shiny sink. Oh well. Easily tackled, just have to try not to lose too much else!

ToffeeWhirl · 02/01/2012 01:47

Just checking in before bed. I have no idea how it got so late Confused. However, I have shined my sink (can't keep telling other people to do it and not shine my own) and am just writing out the shopping list for next week's menu (have planned every day).

I am very grateful indeed not to be hungover anymore. My dear BF cooked me bacon and eggs this morning and insisted that I drink coke. That, plus paracetamol, vitamins and orange juice, seemed to do the trick eventually. I had a lovely evening, but really should know better at my age. I'm too ashamed to admit to my antics, but it included sliding down the stairs at one stage Blush.

I am not going anywhere near alcohol for a while, so please no one offer me a Wine.

Had a sudden burst of energy this evening and did lots of tidying up and laundry, plus changed the sheets on our bed. DS1 had to clean his bedroom for a school task, so he now has a tidy room too. Managed to get the DC to bed at a reasonable hour and am planning to wake them up by 8am tomorrow so that they can get used to school hours again. I've even laid out all our clothes ready for the morning.

I have a busy day tomorrow, so don't know when I'll get back here.

Honu · 02/01/2012 07:07

Why is decluttering so difficult? Didn't manage to do it until just before bed and only found things to throw out because I forced myself as I didn't want to fail on the first day.
We got home yesterday and the central heating boiler had locked out, so no warm house. Got it going again and felt quite pleased with myself - and then this morning the ch is dead again! but in a different way; I think it may be the pump this time. How early can I ring ch man on bank holiday? I have just got a coal fire going and think it may be down to shops for a fan heater or two later on.
On the plus side - tried lemon juice and bicarb (see - this is where leaving very dubious aged bottle of Jif lemon in fridge instead of throwing it out as out of date is useful) on s/s sink and sink looks really good.
Now going to make myself porridge for inner warmth.

coostoonettle · 02/01/2012 07:34

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2012 08:59

Honu Hope you get the boiler working again.
I posted a mammoth list on the other thread. I feel bad about doing that, I don't want to frighten the newbies. Maybe I'll stick to posting lists here if that's ok.

ToffeeWhirl · 02/01/2012 09:07

Coostnettle - it was the stairs, not the bannisters, I slid down Blush.

Was going to post here, but now DS2 has woken up properly and is shouting for me. Humph. Might pop back later.

laurenamium · 02/01/2012 09:50

Morning all!

Grin at toffee and the stairs! Did you use a mattress for extra comfort and sliding speed or just stick to the bumpy bum? Grin

honu I hope you get the boiler sorted, my DP is a plumber and I would try wait til tomorrow for call outs if at all possible you'll save yourself a fortune (DP doubles his rate on bank holidays and he's already extortionate!)

Feel like poop this morning but I must say tales of toffee's NYE antics have cheered me up no endGrin. Tell me more.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/01/2012 10:25

Toffee - you have cheered me up too, hope you are OK. I stayed up far too late watching the darts (I know, but it was an extraordinary match), so nothing achieved yet today. I was going to try and get everyone up at normal time in preparation for going back to school tomorrow but CBA.

To-do

Finish thank you letters and post
Get everyone outdoors (sunny today)
Go for a run
Take down decorations Sad
Sort out PE kits, book bags, dinner money etc Sad
Make an Ocado order
Mission doesn't apply here (did it last week!) but dining room is the most cluttered place in the house currently so I will declutter.

droitwichmummy · 02/01/2012 10:57

Flyingoutofcontrol · 02/01/2012 10:59

Morning all.

Reasonable night last night, DS was smothered in put to bed with Karvol on him which seemed to help his breathing. He was still up at 1am so co-sleeping again Hmm but still a good sleep for both of us judging by the way I was pummelled by a grinning DS at 6:30am!

No plans for today at all really other than laundry Confused - can someone explain why it never ends?!

Heading over to the other thread to try to keep up and answer any queries

droitwichmummy · 02/01/2012 11:00

HAMSTER! Using my new tablet so typing is a bit tricky...

ToffeeWhirl · 02/01/2012 11:11

Ellie - I could tell you more, but I'm not sure I want it recorded on MN for eternity Wink.

I had to sit down with DS1 yesterday and explain that even grown ups (I'm nearly 47, FFS!) did silly things sometimes and that mum had drunk a bit too much wine that evening. Luckily, he thinks it's quite funny. Apparently (I don't remember this ) I insisted on trying to tell the children a bedtime story, couldn't find a book so tried to make something up, but ended up falling asleep on the floor in between their beds. That was just before the stair episode.

Oh, and I woke up with no undergarments on Blush. This was quite a mystery to me and DH, particularly as I was wearing figure-controlling Spantex knickers that were meant to make me look svelt in my party dress and were so difficult to remove that I didn't dare go to the loo all evening. I did find them in the end (on the floor, in a very unFlylady heap) and DH insisted he had nothing to do with their removal (at least, that's his story Wink).

elliepac · 02/01/2012 11:40

toffee GrinGrinGrinGrin. That nearly made me spit my tea out. And I always thought you were so sensible Wink.

ToffeeWhirl · 02/01/2012 11:47

So did I, Ellie, so did I

swanrevelry · 02/01/2012 11:54

Toffee I think I can now work out why Dh is in a perpetually bad mood! No such fun round here Wink. In fact I woke up this morning with a po-faced resolution to give up Alcohol for January, as I had drunk so little this Xmas I might as well continue on a roll and get thinner...
Although dd nearly fell down the stairs this morning in a strop over abandoned outing. Dh is now assembling a Sylvanian City with her on the [unhoovered and strewn with clothes still]floor on our room...in an attempt to make up to her that he cannot after all face going to Tate Modern... I think it is another Pyjama Day here. Ds1 will be despatched to buy dw powder. Possibly swimming. Can I face it? Car out of action due to me not yet organising that wretched MOT... Boys on Wii.

Nettie bravo for being a governor, I think you are well suited.

Silvery admire your list making...I still feel in hopeless holiday mode, Lists seem like scarey monsters today.

however, done
cleaned up dead mouse on worktop
washing in
plates and glasses to kitchen
genial cheery me
coffee

todo
change our sheets
attempt to get Ds1 to copy out his Anglo-saxon/norman/viking homework paragraphs

Honu
hurrah for inner warmth.
Coal fire is very good backup though, glad you have one.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/01/2012 12:41

Swan - I've only just got dressed and the DCs are still in PJs too. They are just playing very contentedly, it seems such a shame they have to go back to school tomorrow. DH has gone off shopping by himself, so I'm trying to do home blessing, but not all of it because we are taking down the tree later so no point hoovering before doing that.

I'm going to get him to take the DCs to the park when he gets back, they could do with some exercise, I need to go for a run too.

Toffee - get you with your Spandex mystery!

laurenamium · 02/01/2012 13:42

toffee that story made my day Grin

swan mouse! You are braver than me!

Ta da so far:
Washed laundry *1
Dried laundry 1 drying 1 dried
Went to b and q for door mats and door bar
Washed kitchen floor
Washed and assembled table

Off to do a big shop now then will clean fridge and home bleugh BBL

SilveryMoon · 02/01/2012 14:25

Just did my 15 mins detail cleaning whilst trying to ignore the kids. They are driving me mental today!
They have been whingeing and whining all day. Non-stop.
Have now put the disney channel on whilst I engross myself on MN until bedtime

Flyingoutofcontrol · 02/01/2012 15:21

Washing on and almost done.

Having a bad attack of CBA after a positive start to the day. My toe (after a painful meeting with one of DS's toys) appears to be starting an ingrowing toenail, so have bathed it and stuck a bit of cotton wool down to try to bend the nail out (sorry for the TMI!) but it's making me hobble and feel really grumpy and down.

DH has taken DS out to give me a break, although he's been napping quite a bit today so I don't really need a break, but I think they probably do to get away from me.

Also, and this is a bit silly, but part of me wants DH to go back to work so I can get back into my routines again. At the moment, things are a bit lax and whereas DS and I muddle along when we're on our own - part playing, part tidying, part hugging and part cleaning, I feel that DH doesn't get the fact that sometimes I need to do more grown-up things to stop me going mad from playing with the same toy over and over again. And if I let DH look after DS while I'm in the house, I feel guilty... But then, when DH is at work, I want him back to spend time with DS.

Ever get the feeling that you want someone in to tidy your head?!

Right, off I go to sort out DS's washing before hitting the penultimate load for us...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/01/2012 15:54

Flying you sound just like me, DH has just had a fortnight off work (unheard of as he is self employed) and starting to get under my feet. We're all back at school / work tomorrow though. I do that to my toenails too BTW.

Have finished all the home blessing except the hoovering, been for my run and showered, ordered some new running clothes. Now I need to start getting my head round the back to school stuff Sad.

I have told the DCs that they are each getting a new job to do every day, DS is going to be in charge of keeping the shoe racks tidy and DD is going to empty the recycling. They are quite keen, we'll see how long it lasts.... DS, being AS has decided he will do his job at exactly 4pm every day, just waiting to see if her remembers.

We have also devised an evening tidying up plan, again, will see how long it lasts.

IceColdBitchy · 02/01/2012 15:54

Wine is only as wrong at this time as crawling out of bed at this time. It would appear my body is intent on catching up all the sleep missed in 2011 in January Hmm Ah well ds is back tonight so flying out the door to go get him. Can't wait. Been nice to not feel obliged to do anything but missed him and his noise/mess/tempers/quirks/routine. Looking forward to normality. I like to be spontaneous sometimes but i do like routine too.

must dash running late will be back.

Oh and Toffee Grin

OP posts:
BlueEyesAllAglow · 02/01/2012 17:15

Home. Exhausted. Stuff everywhere. Boys fractious. Oh, joy!

elliepac · 02/01/2012 17:15

Evening all! Quiet day here preparing for back to work tomorrow Sad. I've been saying for ages I am ready to go back but the reality is very different!

Ta da!

Washing x 2
Drying
Putting away
Ironing
General tidy
Washing up
Dinner cooking

DD has just had the most monumental strop. It was hilarious. One of those moments we have recorded for posterity Grin. DN is here at the moment and has been all afternoon. It is really nice to have her here. BIL and SIL are a little PFB about her (she's 7 next week Hmm) and don't tend to let her out of their sights but BIL popped round and we kidnapped her Grin.
