Sunday is renew your spirit day and seeing as today is new years days I hope there aren't too many evil hangovers in existance.

Babystep 1: shine you shine. yes we know this one but do you shine it the fat fairy way? cant remember? check here

And for a treat as it is sunday no mission.

Oh and can i just may 2012 bring you productive decluttering and flying so your houses step closer to those of your dreams and house work no longer be that evil monster that dominates.

So much for spending less time on MN in the New Year, been up for an hour and it's all I have done.

DS has been up since 7 despite being up till about 1 last night, DH and DD are still in bed. DD managed the staying up late better than DS, the three of us went to see in the New Year at a friend's house along the road, DH stayed at home with his BF who is staying with us to watch a DVD and put the world to rights (DH doesn't really know the family along the road like I do). At about 11.30, DS started crying and saying he was so tired and wanted to go home teddy, so I walked him home and then came back and saw in the the NY with friends and DD. DS did stay up at home and was waiting in bed for when I came home. So, a mixed sort of evening, but nice nonetheless.

I must go and start having a sort out of what needs doing today and tomorrow. The house isn't too bad but I feel a bit out of control, need to look at calendars, think about food shopping, tackle some paperwork (tax return is high on the to-do list this week)

justonemorejingle · 01/01/2012 11:09

So here you all are... It was hard enough to keep up with hardly ever going on the internet and then the thread confusion! Anyway, sensible decision me thinks. Even the most gregarious fast typing person could not hold a conversation with 100 posts a day!

Well Toddler was up in the night, not unusual, but very unusually EVERYONE was still asleep at 8.15, at which point I got a call from my dad to check I was on my way to drive him to the airport....
So the one morning in probably a year that I was in bed past 7.00 I had to literally throw myself in to the car to go and get my dad!!!

Anyway, moan over.

I think not too many chores today in keeping with superstition that whatever you do on the 1st day of the year you do all year round... So trying to keep it light!

Happy New Year everyone!

justonemorejingle · 01/01/2012 11:14

By the way I hope we manage to regroup succesfully (I know I'm fairly new but I was getting quite fond of my thread friends).
Bitchy I hope you are sleeping right now, and thanks for starting a new thread.
I was made very welcome when I joined last month so I can definitely confirm this is a very friendly, non-cliquey thread.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 01/01/2012 11:21

Popping back on as am being a good girl and uploading stuff onto a flash drive that I need to take into work with me... primarily my Fly routines that I've been working on Grin

NickNacks I am planning to stick around. I've been using the MNet app, and deleted it when I got irritated, then came back after a PM using the mobile site, and discovered the unusually brilliant Hide button, so I have now hidden the offending thread and am planning to stick around here with maybe a read of the more controversial topics when I feel brave enough.

I have managed to make my bread (well, the breadmaker is doing that bit!), DH has put a roast on so the house smells divine! I've also stripped the spare bed/futon so that's now sitting beside me ready to go downstairs but only when I go, as otherwise I will get sidetracked by DH and I want to get my detailed cleaning routines uploaded for printing and possibly laminating... Wink

I Googled and found these detailed cleaning lists so I have copied it to Word and am currently at work altering it and removing the "FlyLady" references so DH doesn't look like Hmm when he reads it. Assuming he reads it!

Right, that's my 5 minute break over (I'm doing 15 minutes "work" and then 5 minutes "play") so must crack on.

Bitchy do try to sleep m'dear - or at least try meditating to relax a bit. I'm already terrified you're going to burn out Sad

LinzerTinsel · 01/01/2012 11:33

Just popping on to wish you all a Happy New Year. Smile We didn't arrive at my ILs' until 2.30 this morning, but thankfully the DC (and I!) slept until 11 am. Just about to exchange presents with my ILs now.

Thanks for the new thread, Bitchy.

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2012 12:28

Flyingoutofcontrol I have a fab (even if I do say so myself) control journal. I used the Flaylady ones as a base and removed/added things to suit my home.
I have a ringbinder on my kitchen counter with all necessary bits in. There is a section for daily routines (morning, after school and before bed), then a section for weekly plans (list of jobs that need doing on a set day like detail, ironing, menu planning and so on), then a section for detail cleaning lists (1 sheet for each zone, set out in a table so I tick off things register style as I do them), then a section for all phone numbers and emergency contacts (work numbers, schools, nursery, doctors etc), then a section listing direct debit dates, store card payments and other bills/debts, then a seasonal section which lists everybody I know's birthday and my Christmas lists (what needs to be done in prep, tick off things like getting tree, decorate, who to buy for etc which will be updated yearly)
so all very organised and dp still says things like "I didn't do anything at home on my day off whilst you were at work because I didn't know what needed to be done!" gggrrrrrrrrr

swanrevelry · 01/01/2012 17:10

My resolution this year is to know when everyone's birthday is! A friend is a Phoenix Trader so I thought I might kill two birds with one stone and order lots of lovely cards from her and make her happy, and of course make other people happy by sending them cards. I NEVER send cards so that will be a first.Blush

done
stripped ds1's bed and gathered up his dirty laundry (he brought me some but he is UNABLE to understand the difference between clean and dirty clothes, so most of them had been put back in the drawersXmas Shock

made a scratch lunch
tried to connect dd's Netbook (fail fail fail - more problems with 3 Connect Mast) although it is working fine on here. On the other hand I asked her what she wanted to DO on her netbook and she said Moshi Monsters, so really I think that can wait...Hmm
long talk with Mum who is apologised for being in bad mood over Xmas and generally was feeling low about brother winter and her health - luckily she is off to Madeira with other friends now so that should cheer her up. She said she had avoided hosting Xmas for four years so it had been a nasty shock...

sort out muddle of neighbours Xmas cards. So embarassed but ds1 had posted all the cards through the wrong letter boxes (my fault for not putting door numbers on) and they are slowly returning to us with post it notes saying I'm not Sonia, Who are Max and Hal? My wife's name is not Lyn. Moral never post xmas cards on Xmas day!

Otherwise lovely relaxing day, dd threw up once first thing but is now fine, Monopoly, late start...no-one to bother us...plenty of food in house etc etc...

Last night we stayed up to watch Fireworks on TV, and danced in the sitting room to Pirates of the Caribbean music. Ds2 danced sea shanties for us! And no arguments for once; Dh and I usually have a cosmic argument on New Year's Eve about plans..luckily not this year, I avoided subject..

laurenamium · 01/01/2012 17:24

Just a late check in!!

I hope everyone had a good new year!! My house is a mess so I'll be posting scary lists for the next few days! I'm determined to get back on track with missions too so I'll be back doing them from tomorrow also!

Hope everyone's ok! Grin

droitwichmummy · 01/01/2012 17:27

Marking place

pushmepullyou · 01/01/2012 17:29

Can I come back in to this thread? I am generally better at chat than flying Wink although my NY resolution (if I had such a thing) would be to fly a bit better this year!

swanrevelry · 01/01/2012 17:30

Whoknows re:New Year staying up for dcs, at about 11pm dd(9) started to wilt and wail and I just thought it is no use she just needs to go to bed, this is going to be unbearable, but suddenly she sprang into life after some sausage rolls (I think those were the ones that made her throw up this morning Hmm and was bright and cheery...all very odd.

School on Tues! Wow it has gone so fast. Ds1 has one extra day till he goes back, thank goodness, so we can regroup.

SC hope you are enjoying wet and windy England. "Outside" looked extremely uninviting this afternoon.

laurenamium · 01/01/2012 17:31

LinzerTorte · 01/01/2012 18:56

Evening all,

Flying I printed out those lists and added them to my control journal (and the Home Routines app, which I tend to use rather than the CJ now), but somehow haven't managed to do any detailed cleaning for months - I can't remember the last time I looked at them, in fact. Blush

swan I love Phoenix cards - DD1's godmother always sends them to her - and have just discovered that another MNer on my FB is a trader, so I've asked her to send me a catalogue.

Have spent the last few days trying to set up Twitter and wondering what the point of tweeting is when I only have three followers and they're all on my FB anyway. I joined after feeling I was missing out on something after listening to a Woman's Hour special about it, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe I just need to find some interesting and witty people to follow.

Can't wait to get home and start on the decluttering. DH is amenable and even suggested that we get the DC to declutter some toys before they open their presents from us (I'm already wondering how we're going to find room for all the ones that they've already received).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/01/2012 19:11

Linzer, same with me for Pinterest, haven't ventured into Twitter yet, but I got Nell to send me a Pinterest invitation, she is my only follower so far and I haven't pinned a single thing, oh well.

I tried the home routine app, but found it just to tempting to check MN every time I pick up my phone!

PMPY - welcome back! And you DWM.

We've had a lovely home day today, we were planning a nice country walk but it rained so hard we cried off. Got the DCs dressed and into wet weather gear at about 2pm and we all went out and splashed in puddles on the nearby green and our cul de sac for half an hour, then came home and let the DCs have a long bath (they are still going in together, but I think those days are numbered at nearly 8 and 6) they played for ages in there, then out and straight back into PJs for hot chocolate and word search puzzles by the fire. Now that all sounds great but they have watched telly for hours too, so I'm not supermum. I did manage to give most of the bathroom a good clean while the DCs were in the bath, although they don't need me there, I think it is good for them to see housework in action. My mum used to do all of it while we were at school and I had no idea how much was involved when I left home.

I do need to re-visit my control journal set-up this year I think. I've got it all in separate places, some dating back to pre-Flying, such as my notebook with all the tradesmens names in etc, some is only on the computer too).

elliepac · 01/01/2012 19:30

Evening all and welcome back to pmpy and dwmSmile. Nice to see you ladiesSmile.

Been quite a good girl today. Have managed to ensure all house is relatively presentable and downstairs is positively organised which is a first on New Years Day. Am going to start the way i mean to go on... I give it until ThursdayWinkGrin.

We have had a lovely afternoon at our BF's this afternoon, ate far too much and generally made merry. Twas lovely.

Anyway, going to go and cheer myself up and go and watch EastendersWink.

Oh and linzer and whoknows, can't get on with Twitter either. Waste of time. Although apparently it is very good for
getting youngsters using social networks. Much more so than Facebook. Dsis is a primary school teacher and recommends it.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 01/01/2012 19:50

Evening all.

Well, we have all been busy fliers/socialisers! I've had a good day although am feeling a bit bleurgh as I think I've caught DS's cold Hmm

WhoKnows & Linzer I find twitter great for following sports teams, comedians and of course, Stephen Fry Blush
Welcome (back) to DWM and PMPY - nice to see you both!
Linzer & Laure glad the link was useful - I've edited it all now and it seems stupid but having "dust skirting boards" actually written down does help even though it should be automatic but really isn't!
Bitchy go you on the sleep Smile hopefully it won't impact on you sleeping tonight
swan Blush for your Christmas card debacle. Mind you, DH went out at 6am Christmas morning with ours Wink

ChitChatInChaos · 01/01/2012 22:18

Oh thank heavens I found you - opened the other thread and had a flipping heart attack!!!!

Ta Da list:
Woke up at friend's house after a geat New Year's dinner party
Leisurely breakfast
Had a lovely aftenoon out with DH and the DSs
Fed everyone (from well stocked freezer!)
Watched Sherlock Holmes (Brilliant episode!)

And absolutely zero flying Grin!!!!!

Must stagger up to bed soon as I am feeling utterly shattered.

Almost finished decorating the spare room yesterday so did finish the year well. Now need to put the door back on, empty it of decorating things and just give one more coat to the floor. 1 room almost down, the rest of the house to go....!!!!

IceColdBitchy · 01/01/2012 22:35

Right I have been a very very bad flyer. And will have to confess to never actually making it out of bed other then for comfort breaks and food. just chilled out in the dark and listened to music. Am absolutely crackered. Beginning to solve the problem that has been bugging me. I am not sure there is a solution but going to go with the flow and see what happens. As for flying? Meh naughty bar is open and will be closing in about half hour when i have done the roundup and links unless someone else wants to be in charge of tidying up tonight.

Be back in a bit.

OP posts:
ChitChatInChaos · 01/01/2012 22:46

I'll have a big Wine please!!! Grin

I'm hoping by the end of this year I can change my name to show my new organised state.

Lifebeginsatforty · 01/01/2012 22:58

Flying DH and I often end up doing the same with our two. If it settles them down faster and means we all get more sleep, it's worth doing. At the moment I seem to end up sleeping with DS quite a lot, but hopefully when we all get back to normal routines and he stops teething, catching viruses, etc, then he'll stay in his cot.

The link to the lists was good. Now all I have to do is work out how to print it out small enough to fit in my diary. Don't really have a CJ, but as so many people have been talking about them recently, I'm thinking I need to get organised.

Well, flying didn't really happen today even though I had a to do list; unfortunately half of it will have to carry over till tomorrow.

But I do have a New Year's resolution for the first time in years: More sleep! I'm sure that most of my problems with lack of organisation and energy, mood swings, etc, can be traced to not getting enough sleep. So I think I'd better start today and turn out the light now. (And this is already half an hour later than intended. Blush) Hope everyone had a good start to the year. See you tomorrow.

laurenamium · 01/01/2012 22:59

I'll have Wine too please bitchy Grin

flying I completely agree! And it wasn't until I moved the table and chairs out for the new floor that I even considered dusting the feet of them Blush so it's going to keep me on the straight and narrow that list! Grin

IceColdBitchy · 01/01/2012 23:00

Right after much discussion over the last few days and some confusion as to the appearance of two concurrent threads this morning, this is the round up from fledgling land. There has been a lot of talk about control journals and deep cleaning. tbh i am ignoring this talk as deep cleaning is a Nov job and can't normally be tackled due to the clutter. So i personally shall be decluttering this month.

flying found that sometimes the hide button can be a mnner's best friend and that sometime posters can be a bit bonkers as conkers. Thankfully she has decided to come hide here for a bit.

PA was doing some flying in preparation of disappearing off to a 5* hotel and doing stuff she is looking forward to.

Ellie had been a good fledgling and has promised to try to make this a repeat event tomo

Honu has set herself the target of 10mins decluttering every day. Very fly lady like

Toffee was feeling worse for wear and doing a sterling job looking after the scary thread.

Nicknacks popped in, and Nettie was seen in fledgling land - welcome back, Hope you have a safe journey back Blue

Whoknows firmly and fairly declared the point of the thread.

45 posts in one day people, 45!

justone had her lie in spoilt by old people rather then little people for a change. Hope it wasn't too stressful getting to the airport this morning.

linzer was spending the day with her ILs and had a lie in after a long journey.

Silvery decided to post on both thread and had been offering advice on the fat fairy way.

Swan was dealing the aftermath of a helpful ds who wasnt as helpful as first seems. Hope you got the netbook connected in the end.

Lauren was having a day off and intends to be back, DWMummy popped back in yipee lovely to see you.

PMPY rejoined us. lovely to see you again how is the little one? Not so little any more i guess

And the monster thread nearly killed Chitchat with shock.

**
Linkies:

Tomorrow is monday which makes it home bleurgh day. Yep you know the drill but reminder here

Babystep 2: get up get dress straight away

Missions are here

And for those of you who have managed to declutter would you come do mine The zone is zone one which is the entrance, front porch and dining room.
