Ok So a new year a new thread.
You know the ropes flying the fledgling way.
Decluttering 15mins at a time in each zone.
Babysteps and missions.

Sunday is renew your spirit day and seeing as today is new years days I hope there aren't too many evil hangovers in existance.

Babystep 1: shine you shine. yes we know this one but do you shine it the fat fairy way? cant remember? check here

And for a treat as it is sunday no mission.

Oh and can i just may 2012 bring you productive decluttering and flying so your houses step closer to those of your dreams and house work no longer be that evil monster that dominates.

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 21/01/2012 21:41

Off to bed now, so I'll post the links before I go. Toffee Like I said, I'm happy to continue doing the links on this thread so you only have to worry about the monster thread.

Tomorrow's babystep is to continue working on our control journals. There are detailed instructions here.

No mission tomorrow as it's the weekend. Sundays are all about renewing your spirit. The flight plan for tomorrow is here.

swanthingafteranother · 21/01/2012 22:45

*Cheerful Yank - fantastic Smile
Flying hope work gets finished, weekends can be terrible can't they? Without or without paid work Confused
Ice they can be very thoughtful just when you lose hope

Toffee now I want to find out about those books you mentioned Shock [s/h emoticon]

Blue bet it went really well! One spilt drink! That's nothing! Well done on homemade cake. Enjoy no cooking tomorrow.

Ellie no flying here, I think orderng the kitchen doors and cooking one stew has been enough for me for several days today

House a mess. Have resigned myself to Sat always being a rather tricky beast to corall.
done
catechism - went well, children very subdued, all 11 of them, we are beginning to worry that they are falling asleep...
music classes attended (dh supervised everything, although I did make ds breakfast and get him out of the house...)
lunch out
stew in oven for tomorrow
tuna pasta bake tonight
plates in dw
wash on
read extensively to Ds on volcanoes and Tennyson
went to library to pay fines and get some more books out get away from everyone
s/h shop, more books -Hmm Dh pleased with new s/h thriller Smile
several gardening mags bought, and new s/h gardening book

took dd shopping for present for friend, cue row about quantity of presents Sad She needs to know the value of money! (not helped by witnessing me buying lots of gardening mags Blush I've decided next time to just put the money in an envelope and say to her. "I will wait here whilst you choose. That's all the money there is..".On this particular occasion I wimped out and told her if she wanted to give friend two presents the second would be an advance on three weeks pocket money...Not a good system, as she is meant to earn the pocket money through various helpful deeds...Confused
watched bit of Titanic with dd - I want to see Leonardo as Hoover.
read Percy Jackson to ds2

waves to Out of body if you are there and in body!
So
I NEED TO CLEAR UP NOW!

ToffeeWhirl · 22/01/2012 01:40

Only recently back from a lovely meal out with friends. Thanks very much for offering to do the links on this thread, Linzer - I will accept your kind offer!

Swan - I have to stop myself delving into some of the books too. We need to get a couple of hundred online by next week and, as DH keeps reminding me, I am not meant to be reading them Hmm. By the way, I suggested your plan of readymeals and paper plates to DH for next week, when we have a mountain of books to log, and he thought it a great idea. That should give us about seven extra hours to work in during the week - minimal cooking and washing up.

BlueEyes - glad DS's party went well (there has to be at least one child who cries - it's not a proper party if they don't Wink). Hope tomorrow goes well too and is more relaxing.

JustOneMore - thanks for the kind words. Well done on getting all your housework done so early - a good way of turning a bad thing into something positive.

ChitChat - oh, you poor, poor thing. Being sick whilst looking after DC is one of life's miseries. I hope you feel better very soon.

Off to post the links and then to bed. DH has promised me a lie in tomorrow Smile.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 22/01/2012 06:58

Bad nights sleep. Kept waking with bad dreams - my sinuses feel really blocked so think that's why.

DH slept with DS last night - they don't appear to be up yet, so am lying in bed feeling sorry for myself as I feel more tired that when I went to bed.

Not much planned for today - but I will rally so we make it to B&Q as I'm desperate for new flooring in the ensuite and loo. Oh and I promised DH I'd bake chocolate muffins - just need a recipe now!

LinzerTorte · 22/01/2012 07:40

Sorry to hear about your disturbed night, Flying; hope you're able to get some rest today.

No problem Toffee; it will be good for me too as I must admit I've been neglecting the missions etc. lately. I'm happy to lead next month as well as it must be nearly a year since I last led. Are we going to carry on with the two threads or merge them now that the monster one's a little quieter?

Must dash as we're off to the first communion service in about five minutes, but will be back later.

laurenamium · 22/01/2012 10:50

Hiya all! Just passing through as I'm on my phone! Thank you linzer for doing the links! And thank you bitchy for leading so far!

Lazy Sunday today so it's just walking the dog and hoovering mostly Grin

BB tomorrow!

swanthingafteranother · 22/01/2012 10:57

done
so far all I have achieved is to make some breakfast pancakes
chat amiably to children

Dh is ill. He has gone back to bed in a very bad humour, worrying, worrying worrying (He is on business trip next week to Stuttgart, I think that's set him off)

Ds1 says he has sore throat. AIBU to almost hope he's ill for tomorrow so that I don't have to spend today hasselling him over his homework....Sad

Ds2 was up at 5 with a wet bed, but self sustaining. He said he slept on the floor Shock Oh dear,

better get cracking. at Least there is Stew for lunch. No-one fit for church so may go at 6pm.

ChitChatInChaos · 22/01/2012 14:20

Hi all!

flying - is your shoulder feeling better? Hope your sinuses clear up. Hard to sleep when you can?t breathe.
Lauren - glad you had a fun time in Ikea! When the painting is done I?m due for a visit there.
ellie - glad there?s improvement for everyone!
Cheerful - enjoy your nice decluttered house! I?m Envy of you!!!
bitchy - no questions, now I?m intrigued... but then I?m been a bit of a failure in flying the last few days myself too!!!
Linzer - Vienna? I?m jealous!!!! Don?t toss the wrong bags out by mistake at the charity shop Grin
Toffee - how do you keep up with that thread Shock???!!!
JustOne - gosh, that was organised of you! I tend to mooch around on the computer if I get up super early so as not to disturb anyone!!!
Blue - well done for surviving the party!
*Linzer ? Thanks for posting the links
Swan - NEVER buy lots of gardening mags when your DC are with you!!! Completely undermines your authority when you tell them you can?t afford to buy X, Y or Z! For some reason they get all uppity about it!! Grin

Feel a LOT better today. Still a bit shaky, but able to keep food down.

The house is a complete mess as the DSs trashed downstairs while they kept themselves busy playing, and the kitchen is a mess as I made them their food/drinks/snacks and then crawled back under the duvet without tidying anything up.

But the DSs are climbing the walls, so will take them to a park shortly and let them run around get rid some of their pent-up energy.

Need to put a plan of action in to place for this week. Have so much I need to get done!

LinzerTorte · 22/01/2012 15:56

Glad you're feeling better, ChitChat; we all had a stomach bug earlier in the week and it really does take it out of you.

swan Breakfast pancakes and chatting amiably to DC is quite an achievement in my books. Grin I'm sure mine would love to have pancakes for breakfast (they're DS's favourite meal, after Kaiserschmarrn - fluffy, chopped up pancakes, which I have never made for him Blush) but I fear they would constantly be asking for them if they realised it was an option. Grin

lauren Hope you're enjoying your lazy Sunday.

The decluttering has continued apace here, with two more bags out of the house. Seeing how much better the cellar looks when not every spare inch is covered by clutter has even inspired DH to do some decluttering himself. Shock We discovered some old games of consequences that we'd written on serviettes about 18 years ago; DH didn't have a clue what they were.

Have just prepared the two lessons for school on Thursday, so will go downstairs and see what DH and the DC are up to (I can hear one of the DDs playing the piano). I may even attempt some more decluttering. I'm feeling quite inspired to get back on track now, having somehow ignored far too much of FlyLady's teachings so far this year. Blush

Flyingoutofcontrol · 22/01/2012 16:11

Hi all,

Popping on mid afternoon as DH has taken DS out to give me a break before I have a breakdown. This morning after getting up did not go well, and culminated in me having a rant at poor DH (who did not deserve it), slamming a few doors and then walking out of the house and going for a drive to the beach to chill. Not good. Think all the being up with DS in the night and not having a proper sleep in about 3 weeks finally got on top of me.

Anyway, DH and I had a chat once I'd calmed down and apologised and we've made the decision that we're going to stop sleeping in with DS. As our room is downstairs, we're going to make up the futon in the spare room/study and spend a few nights in there and basically make it easier to go in to him when he wakes and put him down and go away until he works it out. Co-sleeping is okay once in a blue moon, but he's now coming up 16 months and while we don't want to make him unhappy, at the moment neither of us are sleeping well and he's much happier if he gets through the night in his own cot.

It will be me doing it most of the time as DH is working, but essentially, I can nap when DS does (I'll warn work that I'll be doing stuff in the evenings until he's settled) and go to bed earlier to get more sleep. He's done it before, so we know he can, I just think he likes us being there.

Anyway, not really flying relevant, but needed a bit of a rant about it as I've been wanting to do this for ages, but it was only after a mini-breakdown that DH realised how badly I was sleeping.

We'll see how it goes tonight.

BlueEyeshadow · 22/01/2012 17:27

Flying - sounds like getting out of the house was a good idea. Hope your sleep situation improves!

Linzer - well done on the decluttering!

Swan - yes, breakfast pancakes is definitely an achievement!!

We've had quite a good day here. Went straight from church to meet MIL and step-FIL at the pub for lunch. It was a lovely meal, no faffing about with starters or puddings, and as we were there early, we got served before the huge Sunday lunch rush so able to leave while the boys were still behaving nicely. Result!!

Came home for coffee and birthday cake, DS1 showed off his presents and then they headed off again. MIL commented on how much tidier the house is looking these days too. Grin

About to have leftover party food for tea, so still no cooking. :)

ChitChatInChaos · 22/01/2012 17:47

Blue - result!!! Clearly flying is working!!!

Flying - why does it take melt downs for the DHs to listen???! Glad you've got a plan going forward to get some more sleep.

Linzer - well done on the decluttering!

Had a lovely day here. DS1 did his phonics home work and 'reading' (though how a book with only pictures can be classified as 'reading' is beyond me!)

Off to the park to let them scoot and play and burn off some of the energy from being cooped up all day yesterday.

Some manic cleaning to do tonight (again!!) and tomorrow morning. Having a friend come over to spend the week with me to help me get some painting done. So if I can clear some of the extra things from the dining room we can start in there and blitz together. I'm really hoping to get lots of the downstairs living area painted so that I can then get some decent storage for everything. Been eyeing off a pantry/linen cupboard (basically a cupboard with shelves and draws) that will fit in the dining room nicely, and will take all of the excess kitchen items, and dining items.

BB later with a Ta Da list after the DSs are in bed!

LinzerTorte · 22/01/2012 20:29

Flying Hope you manage to get the sleep sorted soon; I always find a decent night's sleep does wonders for my mood.

Blue Sounds like a lovely day - especially the Sunday pub lunch. Envy It's one of the things I miss about the UK...

ChitChat Good luck with the cleaning and painting. Decent storage makes such a difference, I find.

Back in a mo with the links.

LinzerTorte · 22/01/2012 20:47

**
Tomorrow's babystep is to add an afternoon routine to your control journal.

We're in Zone 4, the master bedroom, this week. Here's a sneak peek at the missions for the week. This week's FLY Spot is to check your pillows and replace any that are past their best.

Tomorrow's mission is to spend 15 minutes cleaning under your bed.

The daily focus is the weekly home blessing hour/home overhaul/home bleugh.

Finally, if you've finished decluttering in the master bedroom, here's the detailed cleaning list for the master bedroom.

swanthingafteranother · 22/01/2012 23:02

flying I have mixed feelings about co-sleeping. It can work fantastically well with some babies and some parents, and did for us with ds2 (a serial co-sleeper if ever there was one, also a very restful co-sleeper), but I know that on some occasions it was a question of just firmly putting them back in their own cosy cot/bed, and they were absolutely fine and slept all the better for it. Dd and ds1 I think were definitely happier in their own beds, even when they woke in the night. I feel my children were all very good sleepers, but Dh reminds me that they woke us FREQUENTLY, so maybe they weren't the paragons I seem to recall...I think everyone's children wake up an awful lot more than they let on...

swanthingafteranother · 22/01/2012 23:11

oh that posted a bit too soon

Blue what a relief to have such a lovely relaxng day

Chitchat I wish I had friends like that...Dresser/pantry sounds good!

done
no church Sad but everyone ill so was not probably a very kind thing to leave dh in lurch again
having left him in the lurch taking dd out Blush to Homebase for new loo-seat. She wanted one of those garish see through ones with pebbles etc...Unfortunately we got slightly sidetracked by the wonders of Homebase and so he was not pleased....at having to cook lunch (okay it was just rice, I had done the stew already Angry

cue most of afternoon, very relaxed pj day watchng films, homework with dd (she likes homework for some reason) reading to ds1, tending to invalids in bad humour...

worktops
dw
clothes out for tomorrow
rescued two hotspots in ktchen
bought lots of cleaning stuff for cleaning lady
recycling
cooked supper (gnocchi in tomato sauce/pasta in tomato sauce)
washed up everything

read gardening stuff Grin

Ds1 off tomorrow as he is really not himself, sore throat, cough etc. I am relieved, I think this was brewing and he NEEDS A DAY OFF FROM SCHOOL as he had several tantrums last week due to tiredness.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 23/01/2012 05:54

Thank you for that swan. DS is not a bad co-sleeper, but I am IYSWIM. I lie awake terrified that I'm going to squish him (as I could have easily done when he was littler!) but this is now unlikely as he's already half my height and quite capable of swatting people to get them to move

Anyway, he was up twice last night I think. I know he was up at 11.30 coz I got up and resettled him, but I have a vague memory of DH getting up at some point, and I have no idea when - I suspect I wasn't so much asleep as unconscious Blush but I do feel better for it.

Today I need to go into my work to finish stuff from Saturday that I couldn't do (checks that need 2 people) after DS naps, so will try to put DS down earlier and see if that works.

Flying-wise my to-do is:
Empty DW
Morning routine
Maybe bake?
Tidy bedroom/dust/hoover
WAH job
Wash bathmats
Phone plumber again

Not a lot really! Wink

Maybe BBL to update depending on DS.

justonemorethread · 23/01/2012 06:38

Hi everyone
Just popping in quickly
Flying the sleep, oh the sleep. I know all about it. DD1 was an amazing sleeper and loved her cot, this second child has come as a horrible shock to the system. I haven't had decent sleep for 2 years now. It's very demoralising, so I don't really have any encouraging words, except for Brew

Swan Smile at your dc sleeping on the floor, when they do things like that they're so sweet.

ChitChat don't worry the early clean up was a one-off! Usually dd1 is fast asleep so I don't like to wake her up, and our kitchen is right next to the children's bedroom.

Linzer I know what you mean about the flying! I keep coming on here, reading the links and thinking 'oh well, tomorrow I'll get my flying routines organised'. Then proceed to just muddling along.
Maybe checking in on the other thread will focus me more.

Oh, DD has done a poo. Waves at everyone else!

BitchyKicksAss · 23/01/2012 08:01

Gut two bedrooms
cull by nearly half the toys in ds' room but not the one's in lounge
Cull too small clothes
reconstruct ds' room
Rearrange furniture in my room
do mountains of washing
fold it
iron it
put it away
reconstruct my room - although have the floor and some bits that are on the landing left to sort
Collect recycling
write birthday invites
read a short book
have rl go tits up
decide what is important
get through what turned out to be weekend from hell with only making ds cry once due to the resulting change of plans for next weekend
meal plan for next two weeks
update the calendar
lay out ds' clothes for today
Watch several films.
Sort out the dreaded lego
Cull fb/rl contacts and make a start on some serious life changing changes.

Oh and don't worry not done in one day this is the product of having gone awol. sorry about that. Still in meltdown mode. Not slept. About to get up for the day and get going for the school run.

have a good week.
Sorry.

LinzerTorte · 23/01/2012 08:20

Morning all,

No excuses today as I have virtually a child-free day ahead of me. I'll have DD1 home for about 45 minutes at lunchtime, then we'll pick up DD2 (who has sandwiches on the way to the piano lesson), then I just need to pick them both up afterwards and DS from kindergarten and take them all to a birthday party. Until 5.30 pm. Shock What am I going to do with all that time? Grin

Bitchy I'm not sure you're entitled to enter the naughty corner with that impressive ta da list, even if it wasn't all done in one day. Wink It looks like more than I'd manage in several weeks.

justonemore Sympathies on the lack of sleep. I remember when DD1 (an awful sleeper) was little, a friend told me that everyone she knew who had a good sleeper first time round went on to have a nightmare the second time. Not much comfort, I know... just that it seems to be normal.

Flying Glad to hear you're feeling better after a better night's sleep. I find that the one of us who's least exhausted is usually the one who hears the DC (now that they no longer need feeding in the night); very often I don't realise that DH got up with one of them until the next morning (and vice versa).

No more procrastinating; must get on!

laurenamium · 23/01/2012 09:23

Morning all!

flying up twice is very positive as a first night on his own! I wish DD only woke up twice Envy

bitchy I hope things improve soon!

ChitChatInChaos · 23/01/2012 10:28

Bitchy - well done, even if not in one day!!! (Apart from RL going tits up that is!) Hope RL is sorting itself out for you.

Linzer - good luck today

Not going to bother posting a To Do list. Way too much to even think about it, so just going to post a Ta Da list at the end of the day and give myself a virtual pat on the back then.

But must get my rear into gear now!

Bye!!!

swanthingafteranother · 23/01/2012 10:30

I think there lies the secret of our long term co-sleeping lauren. Once in the night is enough for me to be woken, I am deeply lazy.

Glad that worked a bit better Flying.

now I was going to say something but my mind is ...absolutely...blank. Why am I on here?

done
lots of rescuing to my surprise the house looks like tidy underneath....not exactly clean, just um better than it usually does

linzer you see the 45 mins in the middle would be enough to stop me doing anything productive Sad that and the preparation of the sandwiches....I'm sure you can do better than me!

LinzerTorte · 23/01/2012 11:41

That's it, swan - and I'll be spending half the afternoon ferrying the DC around (or so it feels), so not really time to get stuck into anything. The morning has whizzed by, DD1 is already home and we'll be off again in a few minutes to pick up DD2 and do the "piano run".

ChitChat I haven't posted a to do list for a while as I feel like I should be getting on with things rather than actually posting about it. It does help to focus me sometimes, though.

lauren Good luck with the meeting.

Feel like I've achieved depressingly little this morning - have been for a run, changed the sheets, finished a letter, swished & swiped, and I think that's about it. Blush Must really tackle the room of doom (spare room/office/room where everything ends up) this afternoon as it's getting out of control yet again. Am in two minds about whether to do the 15 mins decluttering in there instead of in the bedroom, which isn't too bad - although 15 minutes will hardly make a dent in it.

On a brighter note, the Amazon parcel containing the present for this afternoon's party has arrived. I'm just Shock at the prices of Lego Star Wars, however; it doesn't look like we've spent much at all, which isn't great considering that all three DC have been invited.

ToffeeWhirl · 23/01/2012 13:58

This has nothing to do with Flying, but DS1 won't go to school again and I'm feeling really quite down about it this time. He says he just can't do it. I've posted here on the eduational special needs' board. I suppose we probably just have to keep plodding on, listening to all the professionals and trying to do our best for DS. It's especially upsetting when he was doing so well at his new school.

With regard to Flying, I have done my Monday house clean. DH has bought readymeals, so no cooking tonight.

Should tackle the beds, but don't feel very inspired...
