Babysteps and missions.

Sunday is renew your spirit day and seeing as today is new years days I hope there aren't too many evil hangovers in existance.

Babystep 1: shine you shine. yes we know this one but do you shine it the fat fairy way? cant remember? check here

And for a treat as it is sunday no mission.

Oh and can i just may 2012 bring you productive decluttering and flying so your houses step closer to those of your dreams and house work no longer be that evil monster that dominates.

swanthingafteranother · 20/01/2012 15:21

just my friend used to take me to Ikea for a treat! That was sad.. I didn't dare drive on North Circular so it really was a treat.

Trumpet Fanfare! I have ordered some kitchen doors, and a round sink online from Ikea, after much humming and hawing as builder say he will fix them to old non-standard unit if they are real wood and also that he can paint them if necessary.. I have made a decision finally...and ordered a red filing cabinet too. I love online Ikea! It is very very easy..if you know what you want...[which I usually don't)

Not the Gunnersbury Capel Manor branch, that's round corner from me...
No my teacher was brilliant, just due to pregnancy ishoos I didn't finish last module of 2 year course which was CAD and always felt bad I never explained myself. And don't particularily feel like doing so now...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/01/2012 16:14

I haven't been to Ikea for years, I lived about half an hour away from the Wembley one in my first house and went so often I got sick of it. When we moved here we were about 1.5 hours away from any of them so didn't ever go, although there is one about 45 mins away now I haven't been to it yet. I always loved the marketplace.

They always used to charge a fortune for delivery if you lived more than 25 miles away, so I have never used the online, I should look into that and see if it has changed, could do with some new furniture. Hmmm.

BlueEyeshadow · 20/01/2012 17:10

Envy of being able to go to Ikea for breakfast! Our nearest branches are about 2 hours away... which is why we tend to go when visiting MIL.

Cake is made. Tonight I need to:
assemble and ice it
wrap the pass the parcel
sort out party bags
clear the sitting room a bit
get DH to blow up balloons
Come up with some kind of meal out of what's in the fridge!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 20/01/2012 19:56

HiYa all just a fly by as on phone!

I'm an ikea convert Grin bought a lovely storage system for the playroom and will be going back with DP as I've got a list as long as my arm that I want! We didnt have breakfast but did have dinner there, that place really has thought of everything!

Be back with a flying list tomorrow! Smile

elliepac · 20/01/2012 21:03

Evening all. Progress report looks like this. Dd has recovered and was back to school today. DH has had rust removed from eye albeit by a nasty machine type thing. Am currently at dm's where i am sleeping tonight. Her back is still very bad but she is high as a kite on tramadol so feeling betterGrin. Will be spending most of the weekend here i think so have got to try and sort out washing etc tomorrow. Busy weekend.

Hope you are all ok. Sorry for the lack of personals but am really busy. Can't remember the last time i actually posted aboutnflyingBlush. But that's why i love you ladies, you don't mind my inane whinging.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 20/01/2012 21:25

Whinge away!

You really don't want to get me started with my whinging tonight - suffice to say that DH is still sick, the plumber didn't turn up until nearly DS's dinner time so we didn't get to go out, and if DH is still sick then I have to replan tomorrow as I won't be able to go into the office to work - so it will be driving into work, picking up files, driving home, working when DS sleeps, working in the evening, repeat on Sunday, but probably having to go into work on Sunday night to finish up. Oh god, I hope DH is better tomorrow.

Other than that, life is peachy. Oh and I'm sleeping with DS again tonight so I'll be very uncomfy and I can't have Wine.

Is it wrong that I'm actually wanting the weekend to be over already? Sad At least during the week things are organised.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/01/2012 21:30

Ta-da!

Tidy lounge
Tidy this room
Tidy kitchen
Clean carpet properly where DD spilled milk
Hoover everywhere - didn't do upstairs
Clean bathroom - only managed to swish and swipe
Wash towels - and sheets, and clothes
Clean kitchen floor
Sort out contents of understairs cupboard for tip run - yes!

Also done Ocado shopping, been to Sainsburys for a few things needed urgently and had a lovely tea - jacket potatoes. We never have them as DH and DS hate them and they were just delicious.

Feeling much more on top of things again. Why oh why do I let it slide every time though?

Ellie - glad there are signs of recovery all round you, whinge all you like, we will be here to listen.

Blackcat - wow, that was quick. I have tried to keep up with both threads and failed a bit on the other one.

I'm off to watch a bit of TV in bed, night all.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/01/2012 22:12

New monster thread here.

Thanks for pointing that out, BlackCat Smile.

CheerfulYank · 21/01/2012 02:58

I'm here. :)

I've been cleaning non-stop for four days.

I think I had a mini-breakdown, and basically just begged the nearest person I could find for help. Which turned out to be my friend/son's babysitter, who is 19 years old and home for college break. Blush She came through in spectacular fashion, though, and has been cracking the whip. Every downstairs drawer, cupboard, window seat, under sink area, etc, has been emptied and purged. Shock That has never happened in the entire four years we have lived in this house!

My dumpster is half filled...and I have time to clean things. Usually I spend all my time just picking things up, now I am scrubbing and mopping happily because I can.

I. Feel. AMAZING. :o

IceColdBitchy · 21/01/2012 04:49

Ask no questions be told no lies.

Linkies:

No missions as it is the weekend.

Family fun day

babystep Although this is one of those that i have no fecking idea what the babystep is. So my advice skip the linky and just keep doing what you are doing!

ToffeeWhirl · 21/01/2012 09:46

Congratulations on your newly decluttered house, CheerfulYank Grin. Shame your helper is so far away - I could do with someone like that over here!

Hope you all have a lovely Saturday. We have chores to do (shopping, housework) and, somehow, in spite of having children present, have to get some paid work done too Hmm. We have a reward coming up though: we are going out for dinner tonight and MIL is babysitting.

IceColdBitchy · 21/01/2012 11:30

toffee me too.

Can i just say is an absolute sweerheart. He woke up as i was going to sleep. He has only been in once since then. I have had 4 hours sleep feel like death but my own bloody fault The house hasn't been destroyed, there is no mess and all is calm. Fucking love that kid.

Right must go get stuff sorted for the kid. Game day. need to be out of the house in about 3hrs. Much to do.

laurenamium · 21/01/2012 13:08

Oopps it's cheerfulyank not chaos Blush sorry!

LinzerTorte · 21/01/2012 13:18

Well done on your decluttering and cleaning achievements, Cheerful - it must be a fantastic feeling.

We've just carried 15 bags of clutter down to the garage plus two bags of rubbish and two bags for recycling down to the bins. Unfortunately the house doesn't actually look any different as it was all clutter from the cellar, but at least it's out of the house. Even if it's only 30 metres away. Grin Now we just have to get it to a charity shop, which will involve a couple of hours' driving, but hopefully we'll be able to combine it with a trip into Vienna next Saturday.

IceColdBitchy · 21/01/2012 13:32

Would someone be so kind as to take over the links? i am fed up of fighting the computer and really really need to step away from the internet for a little bit.

Sorry.

Am ok just need to focus on sleep and rl for a bit.

OP posts:
ToffeeWhirl · 21/01/2012 13:55

I can do them at the same time as posting on the monster thread, Bitchy. No problem. Hope you feel better soon.

ChitChatInChaos · 21/01/2012 14:26

Lauren PMSL at the thought of me having a shiny house - actually, change that to crying about not having one!!!

Fallen down with the stomach bug this morning.

DS1 threw a strop because he wanted to go out for a ride on a scooter, while I just want to lie here with my head in a bucket.

Bloody DH and his perfect timing is on the other side of the world.....

Don't even have the energy to MN.....

BB later.....

Flyingoutofcontrol · 21/01/2012 14:29

Not stopping as in at work and connection is a bit dodgy, but just wanted to pass bitchy a Brew or a Wine and a request that she feels better soon. That's an order! Grin

justonemorethread · 21/01/2012 15:04

Toffee, I've said this before but your thread leading efforts are truly heroic!
I'm reticent about volunteering as I know I'd just forget some days.
bitchy thanks for doing all the links so far.

I was up at 5 with dd and don't know what got in to me but just did all the housework then so by the time everyone else was awake we were all in order!

We've all agreed on having a quiet weekend and it's really paid off, we are all very relaxed.

So much better not to make life more complicated sometimes.

Cheerful Yank well done, why is it that we always wait until we're at rock bottom before we get help?

LinzerTorte · 21/01/2012 15:24

Toffee I'm happy to do the links for this thread to save you having to do both threads.

BlueEyeshadow · 21/01/2012 17:44

Well done Cheerful!
Thanks to Bitchy and to Toffee (or Linzer ) for taking over.

Well, survived DS1's party. At times it was almost civilised. They refused to play sleeping lions for calming down, though (mostly ring-lead by DS1 Blush ) and we ended up with one girl in tears cos a drink got spilt on her... Cake turned out OK and now it's lovely and quiet as the boys wind down in front of the TV...

Need to reassemble the house this evening as MIL and step-FIL are coming tomorrow for the next leg of the birthday festivities... Fortunately we're having a pub lunch so no need to cook!

Waves to all. Will definitely be having a drink tonight, so lining up the Wine on the bar, ready for the boys to be in bed... Wink
