Ok So a new year a new thread.
You know the ropes flying the fledgling way.
Decluttering 15mins at a time in each zone.
Babysteps and missions.

Sunday is renew your spirit day and seeing as today is new years days I hope there aren't too many evil hangovers in existance.

Babystep 1: shine you shine. yes we know this one but do you shine it the fat fairy way? cant remember? check here

And for a treat as it is sunday no mission.

Oh and can i just may 2012 bring you productive decluttering and flying so your houses step closer to those of your dreams and house work no longer be that evil monster that dominates.

OP posts:
outofbodyexperience · 19/01/2012 00:16

apols for thread abandonment! it's been v cold here (about -40 all week) so plans have been changing hourly and it all got a bit beyond me...
did some decluttering in the garage today (though clearly waiting until it was -30 was a fecking daft plan) but it wasn't quite as cold as outside. so we can at least walk from one end of it to the other without climbing over stuff!!! (if you pick your route)

other than that, i have been putting off dusting for four days, so i'm off to do it now. Blush

ds1 has been prescribed vyvanse for his adhd... any experience, wise ones?

swanthingafteranother · 19/01/2012 08:15

Toffee that sounds good, the leaving early. Friend's child is allowed to leave his ss early to avoid the hordes on the buses on way home. You did a great job yesterday. Glad drama went well.

Ds went off to school this morning. He had left his D & T sheet so I chased him down the road, eventually found him at the busstop in pouring rain, no coat, no jumper Confused eating a smuggled packet of pringles. Go away mum you are embarassing me says the ungrateful child. I don't know Hmm

I feel slightly energised by morning run, but I just hate January!

Voluntarywork again this morning, and I must call engineer for washer.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 19/01/2012 11:17

Morning all!

Lack of flying this morning as DS has been clingy so will try to keep this short before going to catch up.

Ta-da:
Morning routine
S&S ensuite
Towel washing - now in tumble
Strip bed and wash - in machine now

To-do:
S&S loo and bathroom
Organise utility Shock
Plan meals for next week
Make shopping list
Go shopping once DS wakes
Hoover downstairs to get rid of DS's crumbs

Argh...

laurenamium · 19/01/2012 12:10

Morning all! (I never know what to say at this time of day! Is it morning or afternoon?!)

I've read posts but just list dumping as I'm on my phone and DD is getting ratty.

To do:
Laundry- 1 washing 1 drying
Jingle tots with DD-done
Decluttered bedroom DP done
Hoovered done
Dust in bedroom done
Sort DD wardrobe
Walk dog
Paperwork
Drop DD at my mams
Hair cut
Collect DD
Today's mission...not even seen what it is yet! Blush

Coming out of jingle tots this morning I saw an accident where a bus ran a man over...he was stretchered off and put in air ambulance but it didn't look positive Sad

BBL!

swanthingafteranother · 19/01/2012 13:40

tidy children's rooms for five mins
tidy hall for five mins
lie down and sleep....for five mins

swanthingafteranother · 19/01/2012 13:43

lauren I always remember reading a terrible story about a woman who dropped her child off in the road because she was late for some after school activity like Ballet I think, child runs across road thnking it safe, not seeing bus which knocked her down. It must be so difficult to see what is happening at that angle if you are a bus driver. Poor you, what a nasty shock.

ChitChatInChaos · 19/01/2012 16:50

Lauren - how awful to see!

Had DS2 at home today for his second day off school. 48 hours will be up tonight so back to school tomorrow, yay! Apparently quite a few children are off school with the stomach bug. DS2 wasn't quite as happy about going to nursery today, a few tears for the first time. Perhaps because DS1 was at home so normal school routine wasn't followed.

Quick list dump (even though it is late in the day!!)

Dinner for DSs
Writing with DS1
15 mins boy's room
15 mins lounge room
15 mins dining room
15 mins kitchen
Ironing pile (not too bad, actually!)
Evening routine (especially the getting everything ready for tomorrow part!)

Full on day tomorrow so I really need to get organised this evening.

ToffeeWhirl · 19/01/2012 17:37

Sorry you saw that, Lauren Sad. Maybe it'll be reported in the local paper and you'll be able to find out whether he was ok?

DS1 couldn't get to school at all today. We walked part of the way together, but he was doubled up with stomach pains from the stress and, in the end, said he just couldn't do it. I couldn't blame him. I wouldn't want to do anything if I had pains like that either. However, I still refused to let him have his computer back until after school time and I insisted he did BBC Bitesize and homework.

We'll have another go at school tomorrow.

Have had a busy day, but the house is looking good thanks to the weekly home cleaning session and sticking rigidly to the daily routines. And I've been going to bed earlier - but, curiously, finding it even harder to wake up first thing Confused.

Must go and cook dinner now. Back later, I hope.

elliepac · 19/01/2012 18:54

Evening everyone. Not a lot of time to post so will have to be quick. DMum has injured her back to the point where she can barely walk so between dsis and me we are having to be with her nearly all the time. Dd threw up spectacularly yesterday and DH has a tiny piece of rust in his iris which they couldn't get out at a and e so he has to go the eye clinic tomorrow to have it injected out. Life sucksGrin.

Back later

ToffeeWhirl · 19/01/2012 19:18

Oh, Ellie, that's awful. Sorry. Sad

laurenamium · 19/01/2012 20:58

Oh ellie sorry to hear that! I hope things start to improve soon!

Not done much flying today if I'm honest! I've done the basics and hoovered but I've mainly had my hair cut and spent time with family Smile I'll be back on Saturday in full flying mode... Off to the god of ikea tomorrow (not for furniture I'm not a fan) for plates and a nosey Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/01/2012 22:17

LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS LINKS

Evening all,

I've had a message from Bitchy who apologies for the lack of links, she is suffering with technical problems, so I will post them now.

BABYSTEP Include laundry in your daily routine

Mission should hopefully update tomorrow (it's all changed since I last did this). Sneak peek says it will be clean bathroom skirting boards and room rescue your entrance.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/01/2012 22:22

Another Flying fail here today, have spent far too much time chatting on FB and ignoring the detritus that surrounds me. Have done some constructive stuff with the DCs though, homework etc, so not entirely wasted. I have a totally child-free work-free day tomorrow, so I will be making a big list later.

Ellie - oh no, they say troubles come in threes, I hope DH, DD and DM all improve quickly.

Lauren - sorry you had to witness such a horrible accident, thinking of that man tonight.

swanthingafteranother · 20/01/2012 09:14

ds in foul mood, ds2 tried to stay at home and dd was super organised pupil of year! In fact she took my keys with her, useful when I was locked out...as I grabbed the car keys instead of door key when I took ds2..Must change the string from both being green.

Also to do
organise new key fob for door key PINK or YELLOW

BlueEyeshadow · 20/01/2012 09:58

Ellie and Lauren - thinking of you - hope things are better today.

My parents are supposed to be heading home today, but my dad is really under the weather so they've gone off to the NHS drop in centre instead. Don't know if they'll go today or not, or what we'll have for dinner if they're still here! Oh, they've just got back...

Yesterday I managed to clean the insides of the windows, the window cleaners having done the outsides. Today I'm getting ready for the party tomorrow...

Swan - you've reminded me to renew the boys' library books.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/01/2012 10:13

ChitChatInChaos · 20/01/2012 10:40

Swan - Garden design, hmmmm???? I have this lovely large rectangle of ?nothing? sitting in the back just waiting for a design guru...... Grin!
Bitchy - I have enough problems with DS1 at primary school at the moment. I shudder to think what it?s going to be like when we get lots of homework to get through too Shock
ellie - hope everyone gets better !

I?ve just updated my other thread ? had a chat with the DS1?s teacher this morning. Hmmm, let?s see how we go.

I?ve got a child free morning, and my friend who was going to come for a walk with me has bailed so I have a free couple of hours to do some housework.

Lounge room is looking quite nice now, so that can be ignored (unless DS2 messes it up after nursery ? his keyworker is doing a home visit today!).
Kitchen isn?t too bad ? 15 mins should deal with that.
Dining room ? always my horror room!
Bedroom ? can?t even see my bed as too much was thrown on top of it this morning.
DSs? room ? 15 minutes should take care of that too.

Sooo, my To Do list

Breakfast for DSs done
School run done (dammit, forgot to get his reading book and phonics book out of his bag and onto the shelf though!!!!)
Hoover lounge done
Tidy toys away in lounge done
Ironing away 1/2 done
3 loads washing 1 washed, dried and away, 1 washed
Empty dishwasher done
Load dishwasher Breakfast dishes loaded
Clear kitchen counters done
Clear kitchen counters AFTER breakfast
Sweep and mop kitchen floor done
Hoover hall done
Morning routine
15 mins decluttering under stair area
15 minutes decluttering dining room
Clear out floor of spare room
15 minutes decluttering upstairs hall
15 minutes decluttering bedroom
15 minutes tidy DS?s bedroom
Evening routine

BlueEyeshadow · 20/01/2012 11:14

Right, parents have gone home. Jelly is made.

Better go and play with DS2. Brew anyone?

Flyingoutofcontrol · 20/01/2012 11:45

Blue thanks for the Brew - badly needed here.

Apologies for no other personals but I'm working extra again today so just waiting for the program at work to run.

Slept up with DS again last night and have buggered hurt my right shoulder with the way we were sleeping Sad. DH is ill today with a bit of D (but no V), but has still gone to work - I put his towels on to a boil wash today for safety, then 'D'S played with the washing machine control knob and killed the programme. So they've been washed twice Hmm. NEVER trust the silence Wink.

Unfortunately his D means that I'm unlikely to get a night off from the night duties tonight. And I'm supposed to be working at work tomorrow and I really can't cancel it - worst case scenario would be me legging it into work, collecting my work and doing it all at home and then going back in at night/Sunday to finish up, which is not really a viable option so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it clears up.

However, today I have done:
Morning routine
Emptied DW
Done 2 loads of washing (one load twice!)
Dusted and hoovered bedroom
S&S all bathrooms
Hoovered hall and living room
Moved things around in freezers so next weeks food is inside and other non-essentials are outside to make taking stuff out the night before easier
WAH job

I need to do:
1 more load of washing
Wait in for the plumber who will hopefully arrive to sort out our bath taps - in an ideal work he'll arrive at about 2, be finished 10 minutes later and I can take DS out!

I've also persuaded DH to go at the weekend (work and things permitting) to B&Q and pick up cheap replacement flooring for our ensuite as the carpert (shudder) that is in there is threadbare and a bit mouldy where we had a shower leak. He doesn't want lino but I'm hoping to persuade him into warm lino tiles - failing that it will be carpet tiles. Not ideal, but ANYTHING is better than what we have now. Also, I'll drop into the conversation, "well, if we're doing our ensuite we may as well do the downstairs loo... and look I have the measurements" Wink.

Anyway, hope you all have a good weekend.

swanthingafteranother · 20/01/2012 12:24

If I could help you Chitchat I'd be earning good money as a garden designer Blush Sadly, I am cr**p at designing things. Admittedly all my attempts at designing this garden have thwarted by others Grin
My teacher used to say, Keep the Centre Open.

Done
cleaned out kitchen cupboard
rescued ds1 room
remade ds2 bed with clean sheets
rescued dd's room
washing away
swept front path
sorted recycling
food compost emptied
spoke to Dmum who is fretting about latest ankle op in Feb and computer connections, and I am worst person tohelp with this as I know as little as her. Must make effort to investigate PAYG blackberry for her or something.

ToffeeWhirl · 20/01/2012 12:29

Thanks for the Brew, Blue.

Sorry you are having a tough time, Flying.

Glad you had a chat with the teacher, ChitChat - let's hope things change for the better. Do let us know.

Swan - well done on getting all three DC to school

ToffeeWhirl · 20/01/2012 12:36

Swan - I love your tips on the organised thread. I do that 'readymeals for a week' thing sometimes when I want to get back on track, but I like the paper plates idea too. My MIL's ambition, after cooking one too many Xmas meals over the years, was to eat readymeals on paper plates and just watch telly all Christmas day.

justonemorethread · 20/01/2012 14:48

Ellie hope there are some improvements coming your way soon. Eye injuries always sound awful to me.

Lauren I was contemplating Ikea today to get some round table mats, but decided to stay at home and do something useful (mumsnet).
Ikea is my occasional solution for rainy windy days with toddler - cheap breakfast, play area and lots of room to run around. The only thing is when I looked up to see who was also having breakfast - then it got a bit depressing.
Having just re-read that I realise that my life is pretty SAD!

Toffee - This too shall pass?

Readymeals - I had a week like that last week. Think I overdid it with the oven chips. DH said, VERY sheepishly as anything that may pass as veiled criticism doesn't go down well - 'Ehr, do you think it would be ok if we never have oven chips again?' Saw the beginning of a snarl and corrected himself to 'Well, at least not for a very long time'.

We're still walking around the dead Christmas tree here by the way. My hallway is 1 metre wide. We literally have to move sideways to get out the front door. He still hasn't taken it out.
Not sure what I'm even trying to prove anymore so think I will cave in and take it downstairs later.

Flying sounds like you're going to be busy - hope you pick up a bargain if there's some reduced flooring. I love looking at flooring etc. Maybe just because I like to day dream of having my own house one day!

Swan why don't you want to run in to your old tutor?

Yes I'm doing a course at Capel Manor College

Bitchy hope all is well with ds and homework and RL in general.

justonemorethread · 20/01/2012 14:50

ARgh was going to write more but realised it's school run time and dd is still sleeping!!!!!
