Ok So a new year a new thread.
You know the ropes flying the fledgling way.
Decluttering 15mins at a time in each zone.
Babysteps and missions.

Sunday is renew your spirit day and seeing as today is new years days I hope there aren't too many evil hangovers in existance.

Babystep 1: shine you shine. yes we know this one but do you shine it the fat fairy way? cant remember? check here

And for a treat as it is sunday no mission.

Oh and can i just may 2012 bring you productive decluttering and flying so your houses step closer to those of your dreams and house work no longer be that evil monster that dominates.

Whoknows I failed miserably not to get wound up when dd was rude this eve, and all over some fennel Confused Apparently she thought it was slabs of onion...or so she says...
What a brilliant idea to tell them the rules when they are in a good mood rather than in the middle of a fight.
Ds2 is also being very polite atm and doing lots of helping when asked when insisted upon Dd was wailing, it's not fair you never make him eat anything he doesnt want...I have to point out I wasn't trying to make her eat the fennel it was just touching the lettuce...

Dh and I have just spent two hours discussing kitchen trollies instead of units [sigh]

IceColdBitchy · 17/01/2012 22:41

I am determined to follow the Flylady babystep of bed at a decent hour tonight, so that means reading and running, but I did just want to say thank you to Ellie for your kind words re DS1. I'm not sure he feels very lucky to have me when I make him go into school though! Tomorrow he has agreed to go to drama, but wants me to stay in the school with him this time as he felt so panicky during his one lesson today. At least he's going in.

Sorry you are having a difficult time, ChitChat. I'll try to find your thread before bed.

Just off to post on the monster thread (although, actually, it has shrunk to a manageable size now).

Goodnight all.

ChitChatInChaos · 18/01/2012 01:02

Thanks for looking and posting on the other thread, Lauren, Toffee, WhoKnows and ellie.

Just felt overwhelmed with it all today. Sad

But I did manage to do a bit of flying while DS2 was at nursery so house looks ok.

My evening routine has gone completely out the window as I was ironing DH's clothes for him to pack, and now DS1 has been throwing up..... . Early night is clearly out the window, and I have started washing all the bedding at 60 degrees. DS1 is sitting on the lounge suite watching Cars2. I had put him back to bed after I had cleaned him and the bed up, but he was sick again so I thought he should rest downstairs until his stomach has settled back down (fortunately had the bucket so bedding ok 2nd time!).

It does mean that we're now having 2 very relaxed days at home, though with no alarm clock in the morning. (2 days away from school after being sick is so annoying!!!) Hopefully DS2 doesn't catch it though, and I can still take him to nursery on Thursday. Settling in sessions all finished so don't need to stay with him. Will just leave DS1 outside and tell him not to go near anyone. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Lifebeginsatforty · 18/01/2012 07:06

Good luck ChitChat

Flyingoutofcontrol · 18/01/2012 07:09

Morning, will be back later on with proper post as am on phone while DS sleeps, but just wanted to give ChitChat a Brew as I can't really give any advice - never having been in the situation. The advice you have been given sounds great though. Hope your DS feels better today and DS2 doesn't catch it.

Right, off to poke my DS awake as he us a right grump if he doesn't get to see DH off to work.

laurenamium · 18/01/2012 08:37

swanthingafteranother · 18/01/2012 11:25

junk & old mattress picked up YAY
recycling picked up done
found ds1 his lunchcard, took out all xtra bits weighing down his bag
3 dcs to school and two persuaded to wash done but not without lots of wailing over undone homework and scrumpled bits of paper, and ds2 said Today was his Day Off Confused and he didn't want to spoil his "spotless record" of taking a day off every week...not quite sure what that is all about, all most mysterious.

todo
more rubbish still left to sort out
careful small washes to do
pay in cheque
mince to cook
car to pick up
friend for coffee at 2pm (very tidy friend Hmm
Then busy afternoon ahead with drop off

I look Shock, I am completely covered in mud from climbing frame bits, 3 layers, and wellies, and my hair is standng on end. Also slept very badly.

Chitchat hope you can snuggle up today, and ds feels a bit better.

BlueEyeshadow · 18/01/2012 11:29

Discovered that the best way to manage bed at a reasonable hour is to be freezing cold so a nice hot shower becomes very inviting, and to have my parents cluttering up the living room... Wink Grin

The boys are at school/CM and my parents have gone out shopping.

List of three:
Work-related stuff
Hoover
Mop floor...

WhoKnows - I know there are fewer badge cards around now, but there was at least one with a badge for every other age!! Hey ho, let it go...

Waves to all and departs to stick the kettle on. Brew anyone?

ChitChatInChaos · 18/01/2012 11:43

Oooh Blue - I'll have a Brew!!!

Thanks all for being supportive.

The boys are having a dvd/duvet day. How many times can I watch Cars2 and stay sane??? Grin

I'm doing some ironing, and making sure DH's things are ready for him to pop in a suitcase and take off.

To do:
Ironing
Washing (LOTS of bedding!!!)
Lots of snuggles on the sofa Grin
Early night

That's about as much as I feel up to coping with today. Maybe instead of the Brew I should have a Wine and slink off to the bar! Hmm, might at least wait till this evening.

Flyingoutofcontrol · 18/01/2012 11:44

Right morning all.

Awaiting colleague finishing with a document that I need to review so doing a list dump and a quick load of personals assuming that DS stays asleep.

Bitchy - Shock at your list as usual - vaaairy impressed!
ChitChat - as above hope your DS's are okay
Toffee - hope you got to bed and didn't get distracted by the monster list
swan - poor you with a picky DD not that I'm much the same, oh no, not me Blush
Nicknacks - hope you got the bathroom done without waking DD - I have the same issue so I gut it at the weekend, and then just S&S during the week, and it seems to be working.
laure - hope the new mindee works out*
ellie - thank you for the nomination and sorry for my over eagerness! Grin Think I'm just too excited when things seem to click!
honu - Shock at the ironing idea. I find audio books send me off to sleep (and what is an iron anyway?! Wink)
WhoKnows - hope your chat with your DC's works out. So not looking forward to DS being older for this reason!
Blue - badges have disappeared. The only place I could see one was in a local independent paper shop, but it looked like it was antique!
Waves to anyone I've not mentioned!

Anyway, today I have:
Morning routine
Got dinner out of the freezer (chilli! NOM!)
S&S all bathrooms
Tidied and dusted the hall
Two loads of washing
Cleaned all windows bar DS's as window cleaner did the outside so I could see the muck Blush - DS's will be done when he's up
WAH job - almost done - just this one document Angry

This afternoon I have no plans. If it stays nice, I may take DS down to the beach for a walk or over to the park for a run about, but it's looking a bit ropey so I have no clue what I can do with him if it does rain - I want something to knacker him, but indoors and there's no soft play etc within easy reach (although local gossip is that a defunct arcarde may become a soft play area so who knows!). Fingers crossed for decent weather as the house is fine for morning play, but he needs more activity and there are no playgroups in the afternoon here.

Ah, well, colleague has emailed me, so can get work done and hopefully sit with my feet up for 5 minutes.

swanthingafteranother · 18/01/2012 12:06

chitchat now is the time for playdough if you can face it...A rainy day, the radio, no need to rush out....making little cars..in bright colours...

I keep seeing it in the shops and LONGING to buy it (that smell) but my children are too old for it [sigh]

I'm on the gardening threads with raised beds if anyone has any tips to give! Cheering myself up with thoughts of spring.

ChitChatInChaos · 18/01/2012 12:14

Ooh, Gardening? Raised Beds? To me that's like catnip is to a cat!!!!

swanthingafteranother · 18/01/2012 12:20

Chitchat I absolutely love gardening. I have a million zillion gardening books. I used to read gardening books just for pleasure. Especially erudite books about plants, design etc. But for some reason have not indulged my passion much in last 12 years. The function of the garden (for children to run amok in) seems to have prevented my horticultural fancies from taking root. In fact we had to abolish most of the flower beds in quest for living space.
However now they have just got TOO big for the garden anyway, so I feel like I might be able to start filling it with plants again. I used to have a large garden attached to my flat in my twenties and I was obsessed by it.

However, I have never ever made a raised bed!

IceColdBitchy · 18/01/2012 12:57

We are raised beds all the way here. And pots/bags for growing stuff in. Having small ds hasn't stopped me as I have ds doing the gardening with me.

Weird about the birthday badges as I was in tesco the other and they had loads of them. Of course not the right card with the badge, but going for an over large badge for him anyways.

No does anyone know wtf i have done with the party invites i bought and need to send out to confirm details?

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/01/2012 13:59

Love gardening here too, looking forward to starting up the school gardening club again after half term, that was such good fun last year (although a lot of effort). Raised beds and pots all the way there as well, at home it's a mixture of raised beds, pots and borders, but all the edible stuff is in raised beds and pots.

ChitChatInChaos · 18/01/2012 16:22

Is gardening 'porn' for those who really don't like housework Confused Grin!!!

Lust over the catalogues, drool at the idea of doing some digging, stashing seed packets around the place..... and resent doing any housework!

IceColdBitchy · 18/01/2012 17:56

Possibly chitchat. But then again I know where i would rather be then in the garden.

Homework hell.
Visual timetabled out
I hate wednesdays.

I used to be able to escape afterwards but lost my babysitter. I really hate wednesdays.

IceColdBitchy · 18/01/2012 18:57

I have a thread in primary education. Bet you can guess what it is about.

Tonight requires a lot of Wine except not allowed any. Am popping out for chocolate.

justonemorethread · 18/01/2012 20:09

Hi everyone - thanks for all the wise words yesterday! I do appreciate my time with dd, really I do. It is a lovely age and getting lovelier. So didn't mean to sound unappreciative. Just bloody worn down by it! Being on mumsnet as made me appreciate my small children even more, so often people say how they look back on those years and how fast they went, and reading threads with stresses about school, homework, sec schools etc.

ChitChat couldn't find your thread, but supportive thoughts your way whatever the matter!

Gardening - Swan would you be interested in a horticultural course? Are you the one who lives in West London? I'm doing a horticultural evening class once a week and am loving it. (not sure where it's taking me but who cares!)

You lot have all been so busy, Thanks all round I think!
I'm sitting in a s* hole. Time of the month and varicose veins are throbbing and hurting like hell. Been up since 5.30 with toddler with no nap (courtesy of drilling neighbours).

So Officially slobbing in the naughty corner and mumsnetting until legs stop hurting, and then probably a typical me late night clean up.

Toffee You are def doing the right thing, but you must be so weary.

And get well soon to all the sick DC's!

swanthingafteranother · 18/01/2012 20:40

Just you are so right, I now long for the days when my children had no homework, but then I just longed for their naps Shock Poor you, and grr to neighbours drilling. Yep, I've done a horticultural course already Blush although it was more garden design/landscaping/brickwork than plant nurturing. You are Not at Capel Manor round the corner from me? not the real Capel Manor, just the course....Terrified of bumping into my old teacher so I don't dare go back.

done
supervised two lots of homework quite succinctly
took dd to pantomime (Brownies) distant
went home, dh home early, cooked homemade burgers with him
picked up dd from pantomime
was nice to children generally Smile but house not good, but as dh keeps reminding there is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

ToffeeWhirl · 19/01/2012 00:05

Thanks, Justonemore, I hope I am.

Managed to get DS1 in to school for one lesson again today. He chose drama and, luckily, had a really good and interesting lesson and is looking forward to the next one. He wanted me to stay in the school and wait for him, in case he had to leave early, so I had a long chat with his learning area manager, who is just lovely and so understanding. We are all going to have a meeting shortly, including DS1, to discuss what we can do to make school life easier for him (she suggested he leave lessons early, for instance, so that he can avoid the crowds).

However, taking DS1 to school, waiting for him and then walking back again took two hours out of my day, so not a lot got done today apart from the basics.

Must go to bed, but just wanted to pop in and check on how you all were. Hope to get a bit more time tomorrow.

Night all.
