Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Welcome back Ellie.

Well, I thought I had a busy day till I read OFM's post!

Done

Washing
Morning routine, DCs to school
Load car for tip and charity shop run
Book car in for service
Work
Shopping - various around town
Tip run
DD from school to ballet
Get DS from after school club
Home for dinner - sausage, egg, beans and chips, yum.

I can highly recommend Heinz BBQ Flavoured Beans, delicious!

Evening routine including nit combing the DCs, had the letter OM school yesterday, reading, speech therapy exercises for both.
Clean clothes away, clothes out for tomorrow
Fill in various forms etc for school
gin and tonic in hand.

No proper h/w tonight thank goodness, just spelling, reading etc. My two love Show and Tell, it is very informal at our school, they only have to say a few words, but it has to be on their topic, or an extra special thing they have done outsid school, eg won a trophy. We also have the weekly "talk homework" which is a bit of a chore. I think I might have a word with the teachers about the project stuff.

elliepac · 23/11/2011 06:46

Well, in the vague misguided hope I may get something done today after work I may list post. Do not be surprised if it all goes belly upGrin.

List
Washing
Ironing
Drying
Putting away.

That is all i am putting on. Due to crazy business, mount washmore reached its summit at the weekend. All laundry was placed on the landing and i am steadily ploughing my way through it this week. I do believe i am getting there but this is my only aim this week.

Have a good day everyone Smile.

OverflowingMum · 23/11/2011 06:57

morning all. early start here - as always LOL
am very lacking in motivation today Hmm managed nothing else last night really other than transferring from sofa to bed!
today need to:
put clean clothes away
re-boot laundry
hoover lounge and bedrooms
sweep and mop downstairs
usual assortment of reading, spelling and homework etc

wouldnt be so bad except for the fact that I also have a full day in paid work to fit in LOL and wont get in till 5.30 at the earliest.....hey ho!

whoknows your day looks pretty busy to me - I hate it when there is loads of running around for after school clubs to contend with in the evenings as well

Ellie morning. Good luck in your battle with mount washmore!

right....best get back to breakfast chaos, and many DC all tired and grumpy in various states of semi dress......BBL fingers crossed![grinb]

Fuzzled · 23/11/2011 07:07

Morning all.

Hellos to old (in the known for a while sense and not in the wrinkly sense - coz we're goddesses and thus are unlined, dewy and glamourous! Wink ) and waves to new people I haven't met yet.

So, today is my first day of flying freedom and I have a cold. Sad DS also has said cold, but there is an off chance that it may be chicken pox (for both of us as I don't know if I've had it!) due to a kiddies party at the weekend.

So I've decided that I will make a list for completion(!) in the week or so before I hope to be back at work. You may therefore get bored with repetitive postings Grin with only small items changing for an odd daily task.

• towel washing
• bed washing
• DS washing (urgent, must do today!)
• bathmats washing
• our washing (currently 4 loads of non essentials Hmm )
• lay away washing
• tidy dining room
• buy gate for utility room
• hoover & dust... everywhere
• thorough clean of bathrooms
• sort out kitchen
• write thank you notes for DS's christening
• write Christmas cards

• Christmas shopping
• pick up DH's suit
• buy more dressings for my scars.

Oh god...

laurenamium · 23/11/2011 07:48

Morning all!

I was up until 10:30 finishing my list last night Sad I'm normally in bed by 9! However I did get it finished AND took the eBay photos Grin

Hiya ellie I loved your welcome back speech too Grin

ofm Shock 6 DCs!! I take back everything i ever said about being busy with 1! Blush

Get well soon fuzzled and good luck with the laundry!

My list for today looks like:
Wash bathroom and kitchen floor
Today's mission (really needs doing!)
Hoover
Change DDs bedding
2 wash loads
Order another shower curtain the same
Playgroup
Put photos on eBay and listings

Yawn!

Toffeefudgecake · 23/11/2011 09:33

Fuzzled - I really, really hope you don't have chickenpox. It's horrible for adults. My dad had it as an adult, so I know what I'm talking about!

Only just popping my head round the door to see what's going on here. Minimal flying going on here as I seem to have a sociable day lined up instead Blush.

Fuzzled · 23/11/2011 09:43

Toffee just had a text from the mum of suspected case and she says her DS is back to normal with no spots - so fingers crossed. Wink

swanriver · 23/11/2011 10:04

Well, last night I was wanderng through the mists of time and exploring Ancient Babylon [the things you learn at Secondary Wink, today I did the recycling Sad

another perfectly horrid scene with ds1 over homework and dithering and desperately wanting to go to football as well (and he really really needs to go to football because of weight issues) He had four pieces of homework last night, one extended one medium and two short. Too much.

and today has been chaotic again first thing - had to run down the street in my nightie with ds's Science book, force him to stick in a picture of Mad King Nebucadezzar into RE book at gunpoint, and find two matching white socks for his PE kit (which he had forgotten all about) Dh asked me if I'd paid the electricity bill for 3rd time, and Dts decided they were interested in a online quiz on Fire of London (they did that in Year 2/3, so not in slightest bit relevant to anything) Dd had no tights and ds2 hadn't done HIS homework (we completed that in ten mins Smile

Anyway the good news is that I've decided to leave the country for the PTA Xmas Fair, just so that I don't have to help Blush Have been roped into wrapping though, and Mulled Wine supplies. After six years of Xmas Fayres I just can't face it. I hate hate hate them.

swanriver · 23/11/2011 10:09

Right so my lst for today after that disorganised rant is

LAUNDRY!!!! clean stuff Awaaaay
dates!!!!
tights!!!!!white socks!!!!
More blue shirts for 9 year olds!!!!!!

What's for dinner? Chicken Stirfry, leek and potato soup, Semolina pudding with jam
Buy playmobil for godson, so far I've bought three Xmas presents out of say 40???

Book tickets for Eire for 2-5th Dec leaving Dh in charge

BlueEyeshadow · 23/11/2011 10:10

Bad start today - overslept and everything went wrong from there. :(

Still have DS2 at home, and will do tomorrow as well, with no other symptoms at all which is v frustrating! But, have swept the floor and may manage some other quiet bits of the house bleugh at nap time.

Waves to all and heads off to put the kettle on. Brew anyone?

swanriver · 23/11/2011 10:10

done
oh yes I've swept front path, cleared leaves, shaken door mats
hung out washing
put new load on again
recyling horrors

swanriver · 23/11/2011 10:13

Blue enjoy day with ds2...by hook or by crook..

right that laundry is getting done by 10.30 or ELSE

Makingchanges · 23/11/2011 10:39

It has just take me an hour to catch up on what I missed since I was last here. You realise I'm going to blame you when DH notices I've done nothing today and explain I was 'catching up with friends for an hour this morning' Wink

Toffee I'm glad DSs birthday went well at the weekend (I bet that seems like so far away now) Its DDs this weekend but I am farming the chaos out to the local playcentre. I vowed never to organise a childrens party [wimp emoticon]

OFM Welcome Back. I often think of you and wonder how you are. Sounds like you've had a busy few months. Well Done on the marathon. It's lovely to see you back.

PushmePullme Yes I am in Sheffield. Sounds like you are around here too. I used to work around the corner from Meadowhall in fact. How lovely for your DD to say such lovely things about your cleaning efforts. Mine would never get noticed.

Blue Hope your DS is better today.

Fuzzled Sorry to hear about your gallbladder operation. Hope you are well on the way to recovery and hope that the Chicken Pox don't materialise.

Laurenamium I did find your post about DP working from home and switching the Playstation on amusing. Whenever my DP is working from home I always find him on watching the Telly or doing anything other than work.

OK Well I have been away from flying but online over the last few days as I have become obsessed with Black Friday on Amazon. I've bought a few things that I really can't afford but I've got some pressies as well. Its brilliant for flying though as the lots are in 15 minutes intervals so I fly for 15 minutes then check the next sale Wink

Todays list

  • Black friday Hmm
  • batch cooking for freezer. - Chilli and Shepherds pie today
  • run hoover round
  • At least two loads of washing
  • Lounge table hotspot
  • DD to karate
  • Shopping Done

Back later (apologies for the mammoth post)

Makingchanges · 23/11/2011 11:54

Swan I crossed posts with you when I was writing my mammoth one and only just realised. Were all 4 pieces given yesterday to be done today. If so I think thats excessive. I did however love that you are leaving the country for the xmas fayre.

Well I had cleared my day tomorrow to have my car fixed as the garage is not accessible to me by public transport or walking (its over the border to another town) I'd also arranged chauffering by my sister and now it looks like the garage may not have the part. Grr waiting on a callback.

On the plus side, I've just had a call from a school where I applied for a job in Sept and they want me to come for an interview next Friday for another job they have. Will be my 3rd interview in 2 weeks, Lets hope its third time lucky.

Also huge double vat of chilli made for the freezer but I've realised I haven't got any pots to put it in so must go back out this afternoon to supermarket again.

laurenamium · 23/11/2011 14:48

Wow MC that sounds positive about the repeat interview! Got all my fingers toes and eyes crossed Wink

Today has flown by and I feel like I've done nothing flying wise! The mission is going to wait until DD has gone to bed, as is eBay listings and filing paperwork, until then I really need to rescue my kitchen and front room!will do this when DD and mindee are having tea (which is already done)

Toffeefudgecake · 23/11/2011 16:13

No Flying to report here. Have caught up with two lovely friends though.

Have discovered that DS1 watched a very inappropriate (scary) film when he went to a sleepover on Saturday night. I don't want to stop him going because it was a sleepover with his new best friend, but I can't let him go anymore if this happens again, so I've arranged for the mum to come round tomorrow to discuss it . I am pretty sure she has no idea what the boys managed to download on the computer, so I'm hoping she will want to know and not be defensive. Presumably, she'll want to protect her son as well.

I'm actually really, really sad that DS watched what he watched (I hate films like that myself). I have to say he seems totally unfazed by it (although that's a bit worrying in itself!). I do feel as if I've stumbled into teenage territory here, though, with boundaries being kicked against and peer-group pressure alive and kicking.

Fuzzled - that sounds hopeful! Hope you're in the clear then.

Swan - I loved your rant, particularly the image of you running along the road in your white nightie!

Blue - oversleeping is a horrible start to the day. Hope you've caught up with yourself now.

MC - lol at you never organising a children's party - the voice of sanity! I went a bit crazy with over-organising this one, but I think it's probably the last one I'll do, as DS2 is seven next time and will, hopefully, want a trip with a best friend. Great news about the next interview - they obviously like you. Good luck!

laurenamium · 23/11/2011 16:45

Waves back at toffeefudge Grin

I need to add clean DDs highchair to today's list Blush it's awful! I always clean the tray and the seat, today I lifted the seat and saw the underneath Envy

madwomanintheattic · 23/11/2011 17:15

fuzzled, the pox can take up to 14 days to cook, i think? hope it's not, for your sake. dd1 was dx with chicken pox when ds1 was 10 weeks old and had just been dx with double pneumonia and rsv and was on a nebuliser 5xday. i spent the whole day weeping. and then the spots disappeared the day after. Hmm not actually chicken pox, then. i got everyone vaccinated after that.

well, it's only 10am and i've already done 2xlaundry and cleaned the kitchen (except a short stack of dishes and behind the sink, which i can't reach unless i stand on a chair...) and 1x bathroom, because it's being painted today (as i type, no less)

well done on being called for another interview, mc. Grin i've had an e-mail saying they haven't finished the sort for the last job i applied for, and saying they will let all applicants know if they are being called for interview in another week. that must mean there are a lot, huh? i'm beginning to theink it's all part of some master plan though. ds1's assessment is coming up, and we are still discussing home-ed (decision postponed until dx/ report etc) and i'm also waiting to see if uni are going to give me another term to comlplete my masters, so i'm sure that all of the answers will arrive on the same day, and the plan will be revealed.

the difficult thing, of course, will be if we decided to home-ed, and i also get offered a job, and uni say i can complete. i have no idea why i'm stressing about it now, i can't influence anything at the mo, it's just a waiting game...

i rebuilt my bedroom last night after the painters left. it looks lovely and no clutter in sight. Grin

DarknessSoothes · 23/11/2011 17:32

Today i have done very little.
Done ds' hospital appointment.
Made some cakes for freezer and some scones for lunch.
but that is about it.

Although I believe ds is destroying some of the fairy cakes as tea Blush well cake contains carbohydrate and i know he has also had some toast.

Fuck knows what i am going to do for tea. Cba to eat let alone cook. Blush

OP posts:
madwomanintheattic · 23/11/2011 17:39

DarknessSoothes · 23/11/2011 18:34

I have just finished sorting stick tape on one stick and removed the old from another.

I have just found my planned list from monday for today. it would appear i was realistic. lol

wash kit - no kit to wash as ds didn't go to training.
tackle lounge
roundup
Hospital appointment.
collaspe in a little pile and do fuck all DONE Grin
then have early night.

mc Heloooo! good luck with interview - will keep my fingers crossed for you.
madwomen newly painted clutterless bedroom sounds lovely Grin
everyone-else hello!

Well, have been feeling frazzled today. Was grumpy mummy this morningSad then had long horrid, horrid day at workSad didnt get in till 6.30.now feeling tired, fed up and totally lacking in motivation so will just slop off to the naughty corner and open the biscuits!

I have managed 2 lots of washing, stripped and remade 3 beds and hoovered bedrooms and landing, but not much else...sigh

hopefully tomorrow will see the return of my domestic motivation Hmm

Makingchanges · 23/11/2011 19:56

Evening all

Darkness hope the early night does you some good.
OFM Wow you've only been home an hour
Toffee hope all goes well with the mum tomorrow.

Well I've got 10 little packages of food in my freezer for a busy day. Unfortunately I didn't clean as I went so now I have a horrid mess to tidy up. Sad Took DD to McDonalds after karate as couldn't face cooking any more and didn't want to eat what I had cooked as I felt that they would be better use on a crazy day. Garage have rung and car part not ordered Angry so now going to have to rearrange end of this week and beginning of next.

Interview is not for a school I have been interviewed for previously. I wasn't called to interview in September but they want me now Confused DH thinks that the school that interviewed me last week and wanted me but didn't have a 2nd job may have recommended me as its just around the corner from this one. Whatever the reason I'm just hoping a job comes from it.

Right better go and tidy the kitchen. Back tomorrow.
