Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Morning all!

I'm on my phone so have read everyone's posts but no personals sorry!! I hurt my eye yesterday by head butting the corner of the car door and so I look like I've been in a fight Sad not a great look for a cm, luckily make up is covering most! Hmm

Todays to do:
Mission
Clean bathroom
Put up new shower curtain
Food shop and clean fridge (days swapped due to new mindee)
Hoover later
Put laundry away
Wash and dry as many loads as possible!!

Waves to everyone!

laurenamium · 22/11/2011 08:44

Oooo laundry is mission Grin

BlueEyeshadow · 22/11/2011 08:58

Grr! DS2 has the squits so can't take him anywhere. He seems fine in himself though, so we're going to be pretty much climbing the walls very soon, I think!

Still, have put away the clean clothes, so as Lauren says, at least that's the mission done!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/11/2011 09:04

Lauren - DH did that once, he got out of the car and bent down to pick up a snowball to throw at me he ended up with seven stitches and two black eyes I was more annoyed that he bent my car door poor DH I have photos so the DCs can have a laugh when they are older

justonemorethread · 22/11/2011 11:37

Hello all
How timely that you are all discussing projects and show and tells

Just recovering from making a show and tell project with dd1 (4 years old)
I can't think why people think it's a good idea to encourage a 4 year old to make things.
Obviously she has an idea in her head that she is not capable of materialising with a cereal box and some loo rolls, so she starts off all excited then gets frustrated.... anyway, we got there in the end.

Laundry mission is exactly what I need, I am terrified of my laundry.

If I can get on top of the laundry today then I'll be doing really well.

You are all invited to my newly clean and tidy flat following mum's visit (won't last long)

I'll put the coffee and Baileys on the table. Brew Brew Brew

laurenamium · 22/11/2011 13:01

Hope ds gets better soon blue

Shock whoknows I bet that hurt! Mine was bad enough and the car door hasn't changed shape!

Take it easy fuzzled recovery time is for resting! Wink

DP announced he was "working from home" today, then switched the play station on Hmm, so jobs are being delegated Grin

List is going ok!
As many wash loads as possible done 2 third is washing
Nursery run done
Wash up done one lot, dinner time needs foing
Drying, shine sink
Hovering
Clean bathroom
Put shower curtain up
Put laundry away delegated to DP
ebay photos still not done Blush

swanriver · 22/11/2011 13:38

very quiet on here this morning
Fuzzled are you taking the painkillers that make you feel slightly high Blush [I like those ones] you sound very cheery for someone who has had such a nasty op! Please take it easy.
Onemore I started them too early on projects. When they are ten is just the right time to get out the loo rolls and the sticky back plastic theycanmaketheirownchristmaspresents-
I'm not terrified by my laundry just I wish it would GO AWAY. Not ironing things helps keep it in perspective.

Lauren poor you too. I've done that a few times.

done
a busy fun morning in school library, camping it up Grin and tidying books

Todo
laundry
rationalize fridge
put away veg box
rescues everywhere
pay some bills
dates on the calendar

then pickup at 3.15 and then all hands to the deck again

Darkness thank you for looking after us so well.

slightlycrinkled · 22/11/2011 16:07

Hello all

Darkness ditto what swan said about you looking after us far too well Smile Every time I come on here to see if I should step in with links (very belatedly today Blush) you have already obliged!!

Shock Fuzzled you have really had an awful time of it of late haven't you? I'm glad they too out the offending organ though and hope you will start to feel much better from now on. Take it steady though!

Sorry to be so late on here. Have had rather a frustrating day. Builders, drilling, doors and windows open to elements and now, having come back from school run, found them to have fitted some completely unsuitable door furniture - sigh. If I'm not capable of managing something as simple as door and window repairs, after leaving explicit instructions THREE times - heaven knows how I am going to handle a full renovation when the time comes. Will now no doubt be faced with extortionate bill for something we didn't want [sigh]

Sorry no more personals - will try and return tonight/tomorrow - dd needs help with hwk

Frantic waves to everyone

slightlycrinkled · 22/11/2011 16:22

Oops forgot to say a warm welcome back to OFM

Shock at Pushme actually doing housework !!!! Grin

(Surely that is totally against the spirit of this thread) [outrage emoticon] Grin Grin Grin

aww at 'beautery' comment though!

Ouch at your eye Lauren

Whoknows (and Linzer and Justonemore ) DO suggest you talk to teacher - like you, I always resist but feels miles better when I have. In similar situations (eg dd also being a real pain in terms of getting her to do any revision) teacher said "just remind her, give her the opportunity to do it, and if she refuses, leave those battles to us" which was huge relief. As to project work (groan) was much relieved to hear from teacher yesterday that in future it is mainly to be completed in school!

I think it is madness to ask 4 yrs olds to do show and tell. (My dd struggles at 8 yrs) It only ends up with the parents having to do all the work. (I dd got 10 out of 10 for my her project yesterday btw [chuffed emoticon]

Whoknows well done on Flying high btw

Blue hope your ds2 recovers soon.

Madwoman congratulations on your spanking new paintwork and first grant proposal!! Brilliant stuff!

Waves to Nicknacks Toffee ¨Ellie PA and eveyrone else I've forgotten ... really had better go downstairs now (and avoid looking at front door)

DarknessSoothes · 22/11/2011 17:01

Actually not sure I have looked after you that well. Others have managed better round ups. You lovely lot talk so much it makes my brain hurt sometimes. lol.

Training
school run
bank
christmas shooping
More laundry
sleep/ tackle the utility room
Coffee with friend
school run
Early tea
ds to training we're both too tired
Early night. *looking forward to this one
Curl up with film

madwomanintheattic · 22/11/2011 17:09

is it wrong that i am so excited for pa? Grin i hope she's having a great time and breezing through all the interviews and medicals - thinking of you if you're reading pa!!

i can't bear show and tell stuff. fortunately dd1 just does her own now (11), but that still leaves ds1 and dd2. ds1 always knows what he wants to do, it's sensible and brilliant but he never actually bothers to do it, and dd2 always has what she thinks is a brilliant idea but it's always completely unmanageable. but she's always keen as mustard and begging to get on with it. all the time. for weeks on end.

i am soooooo tired. why am i so tired? ugh.

going to take it reasonably easy today i think. i wonder if i'm coming down with everyone else's cold... can't do much in any case as painters still here, so no hope of missions this week (not until thurs anyway, when i will be putting my bedroom back together so sort of getting it done. i think i'll plan to de-clutter the chest of drawers as penance. it does have a lot of completely random stuff in!

right.
to do:
wm done
dw
wipe down kitchen sides
longer walk with dogs - see if some fresh air will sort me out!
mop kitchen floor
dd2 dance (check kit and remember comp form and cheques!!!)
meeting 7pm

madwomanintheattic · 22/11/2011 17:10

ooooo, early night, darkness Envy that seems like such a loooong time away!

DarknessSoothes · 22/11/2011 18:04

Pardon my french but feckity feck feck. I am fecking useless. This month, I am being spectacularly useless.

Work is crazily busy, life is crazily busy.

I love you all Grin.

OverflowingMum · 22/11/2011 20:43

evening all, thanks for the welcome backs! Glad to see that much remains the same in FLY world!
toffee how is your ds getting on at secondary school? Hope it is going OK for him.
swan are all the broken limbs mended in your house? Sorry to hear that the homework battles continue. I have to admit to bad mummy moment of having to find out at parent review day that DD2 had been "not very reliable" at handing her homework in Blush turns out all the times she assured me she had none, she had actually just "lost" the slip telling her what to do.....
The latest "brainwave" from school is to send home some random abstract topic every Tuesday to "discuss" - same topic for all kids. Have had "hickory, dickory dock, the mouse ran up the clock - why did the mouse run up the clock? - discuss" and "3 is the answer, what is the question" - has led to some interesting arguments discussions in our house!
everyone-else hello - I will get better as individuals, promise!

usual mad busy day today! however have managed bits of household management amidst the chaos .... a list to cheer me up!

Done:
6 dc up, dressed and breakfasted
dry clothes folded and sorted, wm unloaded and re-loaded.
packed lunches made
bathrooms S&S
girls room and littlies room tidied
card board tubes located for school!
nursery and school run
work - boo!
school and nursery pick up
jigsaws and stories with dd's and ds2
dinner made - leek and gammon risotto
dc fed
4 mile run - yay!
shower
food
now collapsed on sofa trying to summon energy to do rest that needs doing tonight Hmm

still to do:
fold and sort dry clothes
empty wm
reload and run wm

to do tomorrow :
sweep floors & mop
hoover lounge
hoover bedrooms and landing
bathroom S&S
laundry reboot etc...
contemplate what to do with 5 DC next Weds if school closed (NOT good!)

full day at work tomorrow though, so who knows what time I'll get back so may not achive much...will see

roll on Friday LOL!

elliepac · 22/11/2011 20:50

Just had a quick scan through the last few pages and thought I would post my wise words Grin.

ofm welcome back Smile. I love it when someone returns to the fledgling fold, gives me a proper warm fuzzy feeling Smile.

fuzzled make sure you do rest

pmpy you can fly right back out of the thread with all this talk of housework. FGS, anybody would think we were a cleaning thread or something Wink.

I will also contribute to the whole project homework thing, mainly because I feel the need to whinge. DS gets a fortnightly learning log to complete at home. They get given a random topic (so far, all about me, electricity and bonfire night) and prizes are given for the best one. He desperately wants to win each time so we spend a long torturous 2 weeks pulling our teeth out to make them exciting (he won the bonfire night one...nothing to do with me being history teacher Wink). This fortnight he has to create his own imaginary world...aaaaaaaagh.

Rant over, as you were Grin.

elliepac · 22/11/2011 20:52

You see that. 2 posts after 10 day absence and not one mention of housework Grin

NickNacks · 22/11/2011 21:17
