Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

molepom · 14/11/2011 21:48

Ey up me muckers...

Done sod all today because yesterday I drank too much, then I couldnt sleep, then I had college, that finished, picked kids up, did dinner, took DD to club, went home, ds says he's not feeliing well, pick up dd, get ds in bath, medicated and in bed, ditto DD, put washing away and I'm now sat on the sofa trying to motivate to get myself a cuppa or something to drink..

Stick the kettle on someone please?

LorelaisMommy · 14/11/2011 21:53

Brew all round....... (can't drink, bfing!!)

pushmepullyou · 14/11/2011 22:48

Evening everyone Smile and welcome LifeofKate

Not done too badly today, routines etc all good, plus a full day of paid work. Still need to put the dishwasher on (although it is stacked already) and clear DS's teatime peas off the floor. Getting a bit disillusioned with the groundhog day-ness of housework at the moment.

Would be easier if DH was a bit more contributary in that direction I must admit!

Linzer my DD is Peppa obsessed as well. It is Peppa chaos in this house Grin

Toffee hope your feeling better.

Wine on the side for anyone who wants it. Not me tonight as I'm trying to lose half a stone before Christmas and accidentally ate 2 mince pies at work earlier Blush

General wave to sc, PA, Darkness, Lorelais, Lauren, Nicknacks, dwm and everyone I've missed.

rowingboat · 14/11/2011 22:49

Hi all,
shuffles in. Sorry been away, but have done a teensy bit of flying so hoping I still qualify to be a "remember, remember" flying person.
Best bit of flying this week - tumble drying clothes with a banana in the tumble drier - surprise! Absolutely do not recommend, does not add fluffiness or add a lovely fragrance to laundry, quite the reverse! Shock
See you all in the morning, hope you are all well and getting through those 'ta da' lists. Smile

BlueEyeshadow · 14/11/2011 22:52

Evening all.

madwoman - Grin at curly straw banishing. Unfortunately the item in question came from a party bag and DS1 was so upset I promised to buy him another - more fool me!

Brew and Wine for molepom - take your pick.

Toffee - sorry to hear about the PE kit saga.

Hope tomorrow is better Darkness , or that you find more coffee!

To do:
Washing
Put clean things away
Pack up snack box
Toddlers
See boys' pictures on display in local library - [proud]
More newsletter chasing up and get blasted thing finished!!
De-glitter the dining room... Hmm
Exercise...

Not sure where the time's gone - I'm sure it was only 9.30 a minute ago...!
Better get off the pooter. G'night.

BlueEyeshadow · 14/11/2011 22:55

X-P

PMPY - thanks for the Wine. I totally feel your pain on the groundhogness of it all!

rowingboat Shock at banana! It did make me laugh though. Sorry. Grin

swanriver · 14/11/2011 22:59

DH has bought himself a new Kindle which was cheaper than last one, because it turns out it only connects to Wi Fi...which surprise suprise we don't have Angry So he can't download brother's book Part 3 [Berlin Gothic Linzer is wot it's called]

He is givign it to a godchild he hasn't given a present to for several years Confused and buying a 3rd one.

Toffee I would be exhausted after that, well done on getting party bags sorted. Something about home improvements that completely knocks the stuffing out. I feel just like your poor ds1, I have just lost my dongle again for the umpteenth time which I hid in a box of batteries. Ds2 has been very difficult this eve [solidarity with Madwoman and *Soothes] and I had to wrench the dongle off the computer and hurriedly hide it somewhere. And lose it.... Ds1 has lost his diary again too.
Ds2 is suffering lack of running around again, but he had a fantastic time at Lego Club lunchtime which Senco has set up, and made some new friends amongst his classmates as a result Smile No interest in lego when he got home though. Monday is a difficult day really. Roll on Tues!

done
ds1 to Scouts and football
dd to ballet
protein food shopped in prep of veg box Tues
ds2 piano

Round up Round up.

It has been over a week sine my last round up i know, I'm crap. So fire me [Istillwantastickingouttoungeemoticon]Grin.

In the last week

Toffee, Lauren and others have had poorly dc, and Nettie's poor MIL has had an unplanned hospital visit due to illness
whilst whoknows, Mole, Toffee, MC, feet, Nick, Onemore and Lauren have themselves been under the weather.

Several of the fledglings have had visitors. Linzer's friends left today, Lorelais survived the inlaws and nick was puzzled by the aparant snub by her inlaws who appeared pleasent enough the following day when they did visit.

We have been discussing meal planning and how picky food tastes combined with unknown arrivals and awkward activity timings makes this a bit of a logistical nightmare sometimes.

The topic of Dc and their forgetfulness, behaviour and general handling issues has been playing on the minds of a fair proportion of the fledglings. Statements, discussions with teachers and general trying not to kill behaviour management has been the order of the day.

Spirits were rejuvenated by the trashing of the naughty corner bar. Hmm Tsk is it too early to enquire what decorations we will be decorating it with?

Speaking of christmas, we were timely reminded by Mad that it is 5 weeks left til christmas. lady and Molepom have been getting in the mood by listening to christmas music. mad has bought christmas cards whilst Blue has been making them with the help of the dc. There has been lots of planning for christmas and nettie is one step ahead of us all as she has already started wrapping. PMPY otoh has approach christmas the fly lady way and decluttered the toy cupboard. Whoknows and SC declared their denial of the subject, although SC is hoping to be organised and have everything done for the 1st Dec.

MC Does my memory serve me right, did you have and interview this week? How did it go?

And finally we have the lovely newbie LoK who has jumped on board this month. Welcome to the chaos HmmGrin.

Also good to see DWMummy who has been sidetracked by her blog, and Rowing return to the thread.

Right after all that I am going to join you lot in the naughty corner bar. will be back with the links after a drink or three

OP posts:
swanriver · 14/11/2011 23:03

Droitwich will you link to your blog again? Can't find it.
and Blue

Push well all I can say is at least they were "peas" not "pees". I'm wondering whether the time has come to actually put a rug under the table, as my children are soo grownup and don't eat peas don't drop things as much.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 14/11/2011 23:10

Blue - no bendy straws here either, we have also got rid of a couple of those plastic cups with them winding round the outside, just can't get them dried out, which is a bit yuck. It is sad when the DCs get upset about something being broken or lost though.

Toffee - oh no re PE kit.

Rowing - welcome back, of course you still qualify. Yuck to banana scented washing, DD has a habit of discarding banana skins in unlikely places for them to turn up a week later.

PMPY - it's a bugger the way those mince pies just force themselves on you isn't it?

DWM - I know what you mean about DHs getting under your feet, I actually quite enjoyed the fact that mine was at work all weekend

DarknessSoothes · 14/11/2011 23:15

Re curly straw. I rinse under the tap, soak in washing up water and occasionally soak in good old milton. But I do have a no milk substitute rule, well it is a milk free diet for ds Grin

Ds has been less challenging today. He hates the change of routine that navity play rehearsals brings. This unsettles him and is a trigger for the more unpredictable and unstable behaviour.

My early night was demished by the fact you lot talk more then I had realised. But it is still fairly early before midnight so that is a bonus.

Final list looks like this:
up and out before 5am
check directions to friends.
put books in car for dropping off
pick up money for kit & remember to pick up envelope for it
kit into car
load of washing into machine
pick up kit for taking with me x2
double check with office ok for going up.
blackpool run
drop books off with friend
--pick up shove in microwave rice for ds
microwave ds' curry & figure out what i am going to eat--
sort out ds' homework Know what he needs to do writing wise, and he did reading
double check arrangements for next monday
clear car out (if enough daylight hours) hahaha
lay out clothes for tuesday.
Pick up christmas present for ds on behalf of one of his aunts

coffee and natter with friend
check new kit fits
Build new item of funiture
sort through ds' art and craft stuff
Sort out ds' kit for training tomo
thread round up
early night matter of interreptation. WinkGrin

Really chuffed with that. But need another productive day tomo so the list looks like this:
Phone credit
Laundry
Utility rm
Clear out of the car - urgent!
Check car fluids
lunch with friend
ds' training
ironing.

I have done what I set out to do this evening. Off to bed. Will be back tomorrow (probablyBlush)

justonemorethread · 14/11/2011 23:46

Hello all!
Of course you won't waste any time on the pc with this thread, we are all completely about motivation and not chatting, right?

I can barely get my head round all your posts. Well done to you all, you sound like you are all being quite productive, and thanks Darkness for the round-up!

I'm picturing you all dressed in black with hair swishing all around you in some sort of day of doom image, wielding a whip of efficiency!

I on the other hand am a lean, mean, ironing machine.

Mum visiting again, should be able to get through remaining 15 boxes consigned to languish in the hallway, and once house is in normal order am quite looking forward to getting properly in to flying (sad but true!)

Makingchanges · 15/11/2011 00:00

Not caught up sorry. Funny day, was lesson planning for my interview on Wednesday when I got a phone call inviting me for an interview tomorrow (less than 24 hours notice) so have spent the day desperately organising school pick up and lesson plan for tomorrow. So now I have an interview tomorrow and an interview on Wednesday and DH is away all week and I am a little stressed.

Too late now anyway I ought to try and sleep. Back tomorrow at some point hopefully when I hope to catch up with you all.

madwomanintheattic · 15/11/2011 04:32

right, nesbit:

budget
recycling
e-mail school

that's not toooooo bad. the budget and the school are a pita, but you can only do what you can do.

it's half nine and i'm trying to persuade dh to go for chinese. Blush i'm brownied up to the eyeballs and can't bear the thought of cooking.

tomorrow i have paed appt first thing, so will see y'all later. (and i'd better find the paperwork she gave me last time....)

laurenamium · 15/11/2011 08:58

Hiya all! Sorry no personals as I'm on my phone!

But

Good luck with the interviews today and tomorrow makingchanges!

Shock at your list darkness you are a machine!!

And thanks for the congrats nicknacks!

Does anyone have any advice other than moving furniture for a DC that is obsessed with plug sockets? There are already the "childproof" plugs in them and she can pull them out and she's obsessed I literally can't take my eye off her for 1 second!

Had a bit of an overtired diva meltdown at DP last night as I've put on a stone in the last 6 months by eating massively wrong things, poor fella took it quite well and said all the right things Wink

So today's flying in between juggling plug obsessed DD.

Washing in done
Last nights drying laundry away done
Picked up a dirty nappy that was chewed up all over my back garden the dog has found a way into the wheely bin Sad done

Boring day here but thought I'd post a list to keep me on track with the extras.

swanriver · 15/11/2011 11:11

Droitwich thanks.

Morning started badly with ds2 screaming at me about his troubles, and how he didn't want to go to school today...followed by ditto from dd. Amazing how the happy morning routine has been blown to pieces by Ds1's Inset Day of which they are bitterly jealous. Luckily Dh was here till 10.00am so he was able to bribe cajole ds2 to school, and I took dd in at 10.30 (she claimed her neck and ankle hurt)

Ds2 had read the list of his ASD traits sent by CAHMS and he was very upset to see the phrase Lines up His Cars, and kept shouting they weren't in a line, just a race track. Dh was not pleased with me for leaving the letter out, and in general I thnk we need to follow your example Whoknows and find a proper story book about ASD for ds2. I know how horrible it is to read a list of one's "defects" - even as an adult one of those "cold" technical reports is very upsetting. I spent a lot of this morning trying to repair the damage by telling Ds2 how much I liked all his special qualities and asking him about the Greeks Confused which did the trick.

Done
A lovely hour in library reading to Reception children story books about the Five Senses. Then I met a little boy crying his eyes out on the way to school, and felt school could be a traumatic experience for some children Sad. So many teachers have it completely right when they deal with the little ones, but others are just strict in the wrong way, and the children get extremely stressed by the teacher's harsh tone, and from then on they are unmanageable. Whereas some teachers are firm and strict but somehow draw the children in and make them feel safe and encouraged.

swanriver · 15/11/2011 11:17

So today is a fun day with Ds1 Grin He is watching Coraline in his pjs atm.

Lots of homework alas...

quick list
milk away
veg box away
take ds1 out on long walk?
find picture of Solomon's Temple to copy for ds1 homework
pay school dinners Shock must do this
pay veg box bill
transfer money
find some good books for ds reading project from our shelves
change our sheets?
put away laundry WILL DO THAT FIRST

swanriver · 15/11/2011 11:18

MC you can do it!

LadyInPink · 15/11/2011 11:37

Morning all Smile

Glad this week is FLYing in the bathroom - ours so needs it. Not done any as yet so today is the day for it.

So far have done:

Load of washing on
Ironing put away
Sewn Brownie badges on DD sash - hate that job but phew it's done now until next time
Helped DH silicone the new window seating area
Taken footstool in to store to have it measured for cover
Had 2 coffees so am wired for action

Swan you are so right about a teachers manner. We have a very strict shouty teacher who the kids are afraid of, never works imo. Fortunately DD has the other teacher who is firm but fair and she is blossoming.

rowingboat · 15/11/2011 12:19

vits - done
er can't think of anything else....
