Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

It's monday so it is home bleurgh day

I have just been traumatised by some shit program that is trying to be funny and scientific and has big cook and little cook in it with weird facial hair and fake bad attitudes. Its too fucking early for that kind of trauma. Mind you I don't think there is a time when this trauma is going to be anything less.

Right about to head out of the door. See you all later, hope you have fabulous days...

Morning ladies!
Well, we had a traumatic w/end! DD1 did NOT sleep well in the hotel and was up from 2-4am, hubby was already sleeping on the floor and ended up sleeping in the hotel lounge, DD2 was screaming away...... DH had driven 4hrs there, and then 4hrs back. Add to that my Grandad going AWOL so my DM & DD had to go and find him....so all 3 of them missed the actual Baptism!!!!
So, todays list:
sink still shiny!!!
Breakfast - done
weekend washing - in
mother and toddlers
washing out
next washing in
DD1 sleep/dd2 sleep/me sleep!
put away w/end stuff
kitchen clean
corner hotspot
what's for tea
collapse!

BlueEyeshadow · 07/11/2011 09:51

I spent the whole weekend cleaning, tidying and cooking. Now we have eaten all the food and the house is a grubby mess again Hmm

Lots of work to do today (as usual), but have managed morning routines so feeling quite pleased with myself. Will probably manage today's mission before going to pick DS up from my parents at 1.

Glad you managed an early night PA. I was in bed for 11 and feel better for it too.

Hate Big Cock, Little Cock. Darkness - I feel your pain!

Ta Da

DarknessSoothes · 07/11/2011 11:43

Right now for functioning.

A to do list novel is needed. There are people Shock due here this evening. fuck. that means tidy is needed.

The List:
get up and out by 5:20 done out by 10 past Grin

see ds off to school
FUCK forgot to send import email. MUST do asap
nap
drink lots of coffee

clean cloak room
hoover through
tidy utility room
put laundry away

And if i have any energy or will to live I need to tackle ds' room which is so bad you can't actually get in it again Hmm how do children manage to achieve this in a few hours of playing quietly in the morning when they get up at stupid o'clock.

Oh and i need to sort out the central heating as it seem to be jammed on cook people alive Hmm

OP posts:
BlueEyeshadow · 07/11/2011 13:11

List progress:
Laundry away
Kitchen mission - top of fridge...
General tidying
Call HV
Sweep floors
Record Masterchef - yay!
Zumba
Meal plan
Swish & swipe x lots

DS2 is supposed to be having a nap, but is merrily wittering away to himself in his cot at the moment.

Brew for Darkness. Hope it's going well!

LinzerTorte · 07/11/2011 13:22

List update:

Buy bread done
Post letters still in car
Go for run done (result: painful knee)
Morning routine bits done
15 mins decluttering
Make appointment for mammogram done
Make appointment for annual medical check-up done
DS to speech therapy done - no more sessions needed, yay!
Paid work just finished
Change sheets in dryer

Now have approx. 10 minutes to start rescuing the house before I pick up the DDs from their piano lesson. I have the feeling that 10 minutes won't make a huge difference. Grin But every little counts.

Sorry, still no time for personals although I have read all your posts. Brew for everyone who needs one.

PositiveAttitude · 07/11/2011 13:40

Bunnies bottom has deposited the offending very large lump and is looking very good!

I do hope no-one heard DH in the garden congratulating the bunny on managing to clean his bottom and get rid of the poo ball!

Toffeefudgecake · 07/11/2011 14:01

I'm so glad that didn't happen when we were looking after your bunnies, PA!

DS1 has just gone back to school following his CBT appointment, which went really well. It's such a relief to have a nice therapist. Sometimes I can't believe that DS is actually happy at school and that he is receiving the treatment he needs for his issues, after all the years of trying to get him help and being fobbed off.

The dining-room ceiling was replastered this morning, so we now have a respectable ceiling in there rather than the embarrassing, paper-peeling, stained one we had before Blush.

My next challenge is the 'master bedroom', which is a tip.

Wish me luck.

Makingchanges · 07/11/2011 14:13

Afternoon all. I am still poorly, although feeling better today than yesterday. DD is also poorly so had today off school. She has the most horrendous cough Sad and has been up most of the last two nights. DH took this morning off work and took her to the urgent access clinic at the docs to sit there for 3 hours Shock (Should only be an hour service) Apparently she has either croup or bronchitus so not much we can do about it other than steam and Calpol which I did last night anyway.

So DH is off to work for a few hours in while and I am going to snuggle on settee with DD and watch rubbish on TV.

Hopefully will be well enough for flying tomorrow

Toffeefudgecake · 07/11/2011 20:07

At least you have a sparkly house, Darkness Grin.

Making - so sorry you and DD are ill. Don't even think about flying. Just concentrate on getting better.

I have been unproductive today, thanks to staying up till 3am this morning making invites for DS2's birthday party. Had to go to sleep once I brought DS back from school. Will finish the invites tonight, but I have promised DH that I will go to bed at a decent hour this time.

Bedtime routines now...

slightlycrinkled · 07/11/2011 20:09

Evening all

Please remind me not to go away. The holiday was lovely (green woodland and willing horse-flesh) and dd almost swan her first length (yippee!!) but the sight that greeted us upon our return was not. (Main floors of house fairly clean and tidy but unpainted walls with big patches of bare plaster, differently coloured splotches of pain, holes in said walls, bare wooden stairs, sad attempts made at storage in unsuitable/ricketey/temporary storage units ... really rather a depressing sight.)

Ah well, the good news is that our guinea pig no.2 doesn't have poo retention issues!! Hurrah! Our pet-sitter reliably informs us that is was an ordinary tummy bug and she is now well on the way to recovery and won't require nightly massages [huge relief emoticon]!!

Glad to hear your bunny has "shed her load" PA Grin

That's more than a bit of a bummer Darkness but at least you can now bask in the glory of a completed list and a a spanking clean house!!! Treble bravo!!!

Well done on your achieveable list too Lauren

Toffee it really is fantabulous to hear about your ds and the progress he is making after all the struggles you and he have both endured. So great the therapist/treatment is the right one at last (and that is a huge testament to your persistance and endurance - battling on until you found it!)

[Probably too late but directs gentle but carefully aimed kick in direction of Ahyes]

Waves to Linzer and hands over warm kaolin compress for knee

Droitwich have also looked at your blog and am v. v. impressed by the head-on way you are tackling everything. Hats off to you!

Did I miss stir-up Sunday btw (thanks for reminder). When is it/was it this year??

MC hope you and your dd recover soon (and well done to your dh for enduring emergency clinic - a true labour of love)

Pushme sympathies at the ground-hog day nature of housework/cooking. I'm sure everyone enjoyed the food as it was going down!!

Lorelais Shock at your w/e! Poor you! That was a truly valiant expedition. You should write it all down so you can remember it in years to come (and hopefully be able laugh about it)!! Hope your grandad OK and that you can all catch up on some sleep.

Nicknacks Hope your friend let you know what was happening (eventually) - v. annoying otherwise

Madwoman hope you are recovering from your busy w/e

Frantic waves to Blue Ellie Molepom Justonemore Feetheart whoknows ladyinpink whoknows and everyone else I've forgotten

Got to go and clear up kitchen after dinner. Had Belgian peasant dish for supper of bacon, cabbage, potatoes, onions etc in a sort of soup but seemed to have used a very un-peasant-like amount of pans ....

[SC slopes off hoping no-one has noticed the total absence of Fly-talk]
