Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Just flying by to say hi to everyone.

Feeling a little fragile after an email row with a colleague..on a Saturday, too!! Can't believe the cheek of the man!! I am getting blamed for something that he hasn't done. I told him 18 months ago it needed sorted. Have reminded him at least 4 times since then and he has done nothing, so I have left it. Now poo has hit the fan and I have just been forwarded an email that he sent to someone else saying that he knew nothing and I should have noticed it! Grrrrr!!

Anyway, I haven't done any flying today because I have been busy baking for an event tomorrow night. I am providing refreshments for 100 people. Hmm Not sure why I always end up organising these things and also end up doing all the work for them. I have got a friend to help me serve, but that's it. My fault for not delegating, I suppose, but I hate to ask people (and I also dont think anyone would do it how I would do it Hmm )

Evening plan is to cook the curry, and a lamb hotpot for the non-curry eaters. Sit with DCs, warm winter foods and watch trashy TV with a Wine.

Not promising to be around tomorrow as its a manic day, but back on track on Monday. Have a good weekend everyone. Smile

PositiveAttitude · 05/11/2011 18:06

Well,if I was cross before I am now absolutely wild. I turn my back for 5 minutes mn-ing time and DS, DD1 and their friends have eaten about half the stuff I have just spent all afternoon cooking that was for tomorrow night!!! Angry WHy did I think I would be organised and do it today? Why did I bother? Now I have to do it all again tomorrow!! Grrrrrr!!!!

Makingchanges · 05/11/2011 18:53

Oh PA no wonder you are annoyed. I hope you get the food remade in time and that work problems are resolved by someone else and not left to you.

Well I have been unwell all morning, thought it was something I had eaten but i'm all achy as well. DH has been missing all day as well so I've been trying to keep on eye on DD too. They have just gone to a fireworks party after having had some here, against my wishes as I don't approve of fireworks at home. I'm going to have a bath and read a book or watch trashy tv or mn. Wink and hope I'm feeling better tomorrow as I had finally got some supply work for Monday and really don't want to have to cancel.

Hope you are all enjoying bonfire night and are all keeping safe Smile

laurenamium · 06/11/2011 08:48

Happy Sunday Grin

I hope your party goes without a hitch today pa

makingchanges I hope you feel better after a sleep!

A bit of a crisis clean this morning ready for mindee meeting this afternoon but thanks to flying the last month im not half as stressed as I would normally be!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend Smile

NickNacks · 06/11/2011 08:59

PA Hope tonight goes well and you managed to replace the scoffed food. Smile

MC Hope you are feeling better this morning. Thanks

Well I'm really tired this morning thanks to a shocking nights sleep from DD. She doesn't wake for long and doesn't want anything so I'm at a loss as to what to do with her. She half heartedly cries, its not prolonged but enough to wake me (I am very light sleeper) but when I go in to her she's laying down, with dummy, tucked in, and not too hot/cold etc. At the moment I just go in to her, pretend to tuck her in, stroke her face, blow a kiss and whisper goodnight and leave again. She doesn't protest or fuss when I'm there so I can't tell what she wants. This can happen several times before she falls back to sleep. DH just says to ignore her since she doesn't want anything and is more than capable of falling back to sleep herself but I can't since it wakes me anyway, I have to check on her. I'm going to repost this in sleep but if anyone has any ideas, would be v. greatful!

Lauren Not that I'm stalking you but your daughter has a lovely name and same middle name as my DD. ;)

A light list today as I'm so tired.

Wash uniforms, PE kits, swim kits.
Lay out tomorrows clothes
Lunch and tidy kitchen
Dinner and tidy kitchen
Write party invites
Pack Pe kits and swim bags
Bath and early night for DC's
Bath and early for me!

NickNacks · 06/11/2011 09:00

X-posted- Good luck with the meeting today Lauren

Toffeefudgecake · 06/11/2011 10:20

Anyone go to a bonfire night do last night? We met up with friends and went to a local bonfire procession, but the bangers were so noisy I had to take the children home (my fault for not bringing their ear defenders - I couldn't face rummaging in the downstair's cupboard for them Blush). The boys were happiest back at home, playing with their flashing laser swords and eating pizza.

DH is a little the worse for wear this morning (went on to the pub with some friends), but has made himself get up and dosed himself with pills. We have friends coming round later, then are visiting MIL for tea.

Today's list:

Breakfasts done
Dishwasher done
Washing on done
Print out Year 1 words for DS1 and make up some reading games, including Club Penguin and Dr Who stuff (he's asked me to teach him as he says that he's not learning any new words at school and is bored. I am really starting to believe his new teacher is a bit rubbish)
Order DS2's birthday presents
Confirm date of birthday party with church secretary
Print invites so we can deliver them at school tomorrow
Clear dining room ready for plasterer tomorrow
Dry washing and put away
Lunch
Friends here - go for a walk?
Visit MIL
Dinner
Before-bed routine
Bed at decent hour

Hope you all have a nice, relaxing Sunday.

laurenamium · 06/11/2011 10:27

No bonfire do for me toffeefudge dd is still a bit small and DP went out last night and still isn't home Hmm he hasn't taken his keys so I'm going out for the day and locking the doors and not answering the phone Grin well until it's meeting time anyway! There will be serious words when he gets back!

nicknacks thanks for the good luck! And it is a fantastic middle name Wink

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/11/2011 10:33

Morning all,

Toffee - yes, I took DD to the display in the next village, which is actually nearer than the one in our own town, everyone from our end of town tends to go to the village one and it is lovely and sociable all walking together, we went with DD's best friend and parents. DS stayed at home with Dad and did a few in the garden, he came last year but found it a bit too noisy. I think we need to buy some ear defenders, there were quite a few children wearing them. DD loved it and not at all bothered by the noise.

Sorry to have been largely AWOL for a few days, I have been feeling a bit embarrased/frustrated by how badly I let thing slip over half term and trying to catch up, also had the will writing to sort out, plus school discos to help with on Friday and helping with another PTA event yesterday. However the house is improving again and I think we're back on top of things now.

Back later.

Toffeefudgecake · 06/11/2011 10:53

Lauren - yes, DH definitely needs some 'serious words'! Hasn't he even phoned you to let you know where he is or when he's coming home? Grr. Am Angry on your behalf.

WhoKnows - sounds like a lovely night out for you Smile. Sounds like RL has been very busy for you. Don't worry about not Flying. We all have our ups and downs. My own Flying has slipped recently too. I just hope that once the dining room is decorated and tidied up, I will be able to get back into my routines again.

droitwichmummy · 06/11/2011 10:59

Morning all from the naughty corner!

Still here, not much flying BUT I have started a blog while I've been in here! Never thought I would. But I haveBlush.

We have also gained a hamster which is entertaining one of the cats.

Oh and I have got the washing on. That's it.

laurenamium · 06/11/2011 11:01

toffee nope nothing, I text him at 9 to ask where he was, I have an iPhone so it tells me when texts were read, he read it at 5 past 9 and still hasnt been in touch, he was at a house warming so I know vaguely where he is but I just hope he's had a nice time and it was worth it!Wink

DarknessSoothes · 06/11/2011 11:34

Toffeefudgecake · 06/11/2011 12:12

Hmm, not good enough, Lauren! I hope he makes it up to you.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/11/2011 12:30

DWM - I have just peeked at the blog, it's very moving, I hope it helps you. That picture is lovely too. I have been firmly ensconced in the naughty corner for the last couple of weeks.

LinzerTorte · 06/11/2011 12:37

Thanks for the links, Darkness. Our whole house is one big hotspot atm; it's hard to tell where one ends and the next one starts. Blush I've been feeling like you recently WhoKnows - still am in fact; I just don't seem to have time to do anything about the chaos that the house has descended into.

Well done on starting your blog DWM. Was reading yours earlier Blue and was interested to read your review of When God Was a Rabbit as I've just finished it (agree about the 9-11 episode feeling slightly contrived).

lauren Hope the meeting goes well today. Grr at your DH; hope he turns up soon with a very good explanation!

Toffee I didn't even realise it was Bonfire Night last night until I was on the phone to my mum yesterday and heard the fireworks in the background! Hope you have a lovely time with your friends this afternoon.

We're back from my ILs a day early as I forgot to take DS's inhalers and medicine and he was really badly affected by the cat/dust/combination of both (coughing, wheezing, sick several times). Tbh it's good to have this extra day at home to catch up with things round the house; work is taking priority at the moment, but I've also managed to do a load of washing and a bit of decluttering in the playroom (far more needed, however). DH and the DC are all out in the garden so must get on with some work now while I have the chance.

molepom · 06/11/2011 14:27

Good luck to those today who have plans and lists.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and are safe.

My list today:

Fuck all.

A bit of ironing to make sure kids have uniform for the week but other than that and dinner I'm not going to do a damn thing.

coostoonettle · 06/11/2011 15:23

Hello Everyone, sorry awol again. Life is just busy sometimes isn't it?

This is my first DO NOTHING DAY ever.

Today i have

decluttered dd room.
decluttered ds room.
tidied and cleaned both rooms.
tidied and decluttered the snug.
decluttered some of horrendous bookcase mess.
decluttered garden and tidied away all summer toys. Fully preparing garden for snow. {please let it snow}
made roast dinner.
did jigsaws and homework and workbooks with dc.

In short i havent stopped and i do not want another do nothing day for a very long time Grin

Im off for a little sit down as my back is smarting a bit.

Hope to catch up properly with you all later.

Enjoy your sundays nights.

justonemorethread · 06/11/2011 18:03

I'm moving over to the naughty corner!!! At this point I think it is best to give in and give up!

madwomanintheattic · 06/11/2011 18:16

it's still sunday morning here! Grin lol at you lot, it's only the fifth of the month! fly lethargy normally takes at least a week to set in. Grin

i am knackered though. Grin we went to a friends for a bonfire/ fireworks party last night (mostly expats of course, but a few locals. just a small backyard thing but dh got the fireworks shipped in as you can't buy them in this province. Grin). we knew it was going to be a bit dodgy, as there are about 8 zillion bylaws, and it was probably a no-brainer that we'd be breaking at least some of them. Grin but the rcmp didn't show up until dh was lighting the last firework, and he got away with a warning, so all's well that ends well and we spent the rest of the party burning the guy and sitting around the fire because it was about -15. Blush Grin illegal fireworks parties rock! Grin

and at about 11pm dh had a text from a freind saying he'd just picked his gf up from the airport and could we meet up for breakfast Shock not at my house we couldn't, so we had to get everyone out of bed, showered/ bathed because we all stank of bonfire, and drag exhausted kids to the diner. we got home ten minutes ago and had to take dd2 to her dance lesson, so i'm also wondering if today is going to be a write-off as far as flying is concerned! Grin

the one thing i do need to do though, is to get all of the clothes into the washing machine, as my whole house has that lingering smoky smell. yuk.

and get to bottom of the ironing. i think that will do for today. Blush

and i might fit in an afternoon nap. Blush

madwomanintheattic · 06/11/2011 18:16

sixth. it's the sixth. Blush i obv haven't woken up yet.

madwomanintheattic · 06/11/2011 18:17

oh, dm, i love your blog btw. the title and the pic are very evocative, and i think it will be a great journey of thoughts for you x

BlueEyeshadow · 06/11/2011 20:58

Evening all! We've been pretty manic over the weekend, without actually doing anything... Boys were climbing the walls this afternoon so kicked them out to play in the garden, in the dark, in the rain! DH not impressed at the mud coming in on their wellies, but it seemed to do them some good!

DWM - I love the picture on your blog. I hope it helps you.

Linzer - thanks!

Waves to all and disappears to keep sorting photos in the naughty corner.

NickNacks · 06/11/2011 21:15

Evening all!

Quiet on here this weekend- hope you've all had a lovely, lazy bonfire weekend.

Just a quick post of tomorrows list and then i'm going to do my evening routine and bed.

Up, shower, dress, breakfast.
Empty DW
WM on
School run
Visit MIL at her new house
Mission (if applicable)
Lunch, clear up, naps
Pay online bills
Collect DS1 from friends house
What's for dinner?
Meal plan rest of week
Research course I need to book
Look up an oven cleaning company
Dinner, clear up
Bedtime routine

I'm also miffed because a parent asks me to do an early school run for her occasionally and she mentioned she might need me tomorrow. I said to text me either way over the weekend and let me know. Guess what? She hasn't! And now I don't know whether to get and be ready or not. Its an hour early so would require me to set the alarm and I'll be cross if I get up and she doesn't come. Do I risk her seeing me fresh out of the shower? Hmm

droitwichmummy · 06/11/2011 21:16

Thank you for your kind words about my blogSmile. Its turning into a really good place to park my waffle so I don't clutter this site with it.

Ended up having lunch at home today rather than PILs as DS decided he was not feeling well but have done little in the way of flying. Before bed I will tidy kitchen, iron uniform and make lunches for tomorrow. I ought to have made Christmas pud but it will have to wait.

DS's birthday on Thursday - I have 3 7 yo boys coming after school so I need to have the lounge, bathroom and DS room at least tidy and looking vaguely clean by then!
