October's Fledgling Fliers: Seasons of Mists and Mellow Flyfulness

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here )

Humungous thanks to our previous thread leader Blue for navigating us all through the August school holidays...and for doing it so consistently and well!!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. Some of us (SC stares at feet) -are even embarrassingly stuck at decluttering stage after two years

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

Evening all, still ill! In fact feeling worse tonight as bunged head now as well as hot and cold and achy. I'm hoping this is a good sign as now been this way for almost a week.

Gavr myself the day off today. Had a bath and laid on bed and watched dvds all day until pick up. DD had a melt down at ballet as was late and them had been moved class without knowing after exam last week so i found her crying on corridor that she had been sent to another class.

Have to hand wash uniform for tomorrow and ballet uniform then off to bed. Am lesson planning tomorrow for interview on Tuesday as have a busy weekend so hope i'm feeling better.

Have caught up but my head is so full of cotton wool that i can't remember who did what Blush so i will wave to all and promise to be a better fly friend in future.

Night all Smile

swanriver · 13/10/2011 22:24

Toffee I heart tables - I always feel like a new table is like making a family contract (as so much happens round a table) I love the way ours is entirely different large and small, and even turns into a drop leaf! Although I hanker after a nice solid farmhouse table too, or one of those very posh pale oak/ash modernist ones...(a bit fed up with dingy varnished oak we bought when first married..ho hum]

Madwoman I think I guessed from your nom de plum, as it is title of feminist literary theory book isn't it (honest I haven't googled) with ref to first Mrs Rochester and Victorian Fiction? or am I wrong...[maybe you wrote it!!!]

Nicknacks full of admiration for your day

Blue and I like the blogs you have linked to as well...more cartoons hitting the spot. I love the way you are a different self in the blog (as of course we all are when away from our housekeeping Hmm

I was at end of my tether today. Everyone was screaming. The house was a disaster, and the printer jammed for ds's project.
resolutions:
no more piano for mum and ds2 if I'm going to go back to work in the school library.
ds1 needs complete focus from mum when he gets back home or he melts down over homework. He is constantly in tears at the moment.
I need to cut back on after school activities!!!I've been saying this for some time, for some reason it is not happening.
We need to go to park/pool/play cards more...instead of formal activities.

BlueEyeshadow · 13/10/2011 22:28

Thanks for the round-up Ellie, and for all the blog appreciation! Feel a bit Blush now...

NickNacks never mind about the tupperware cupboard - they breed anyway, fact!
Darkness - good that the migraine is nearly gone, hope you can get some rest.
MC - don't worry about catching up when you're ill! Have some Brew instead, and I hope you're better soon.

Both boys were practically out on their feet after last night's fun and games. DS2 was having meltdowns about every little thwarting all day. Fortunately (from my pov!) he was at the CM's for most of it... Sorry, NickNacks! They've both had an early night and we'll have a quiet day tomorrow. Better get to bed myself now. Night all.

swanriver · 13/10/2011 22:31

Darkness lovely that ds enjoying his friends at training
MC hope lesson planning goes well. I was plunged into lesson planning today, TA handed me a sheet on Mary Seacole and asked me to present it to Yr 2. I had a great time with second lot...Hmm when I had got my props together! The first lot unfortunately only got the ad lib version without tropical rainforest, atlases, cups of virtual soup, or groaning patients...It is fun to think how to make things accessible to kids isn't it.

coostoonettle · 13/10/2011 22:58

swanriver · 14/10/2011 09:35

Morning!
Still brooding about homework [mutter mutter]
Had a most annoying chat at school gate with a mother whose child does all his homework by himself and is getting A10's for it (whatever that may be, but it sounds good!)

I've had coffee, I'm dressed, the children are at school, no in- or after-school worries.
Today the house is going to get tidied
and the outstanding paperwork is going to get done

or I am going to go completely bonkers.

swanriver · 14/10/2011 09:40

ah nettie so that was the strange splodge on the kitchen floor, that halloween smiley you threw last night..[hsmile]
Happy Third Birthday Dd - she is so lttle still Smile

and my tupperware cupboard is fine actually,I think I need to lay off missions completely and stick to general rescuing.

BlueEyeshadow · 14/10/2011 10:53

Agh! Forgot DS1's PE kit. They've only changed for PE once so far, but I bet they will today. Can't face dragging DS2 back up to the school again with it and don't even know if PE is in the morning or the afternoon... Blush [badmother]

Fuzzled · 14/10/2011 12:29

Ack! Sorry ladies, been a while, and this is just a quickie before DS wakes up.

Work got totally out of hand while I was in hospital so all my free DS sleep time has been taken up with sorting them out.

Thankfully, I still have been flying, just not able to brag talk about it. [hgin]

Hope you are all well - I'll to catch up on the millions of pages tonight!

DarknessSoothes · 14/10/2011 13:37

Swan ignore her, she obviously doesn't spend enough time with her child and is trying to make herself feel better by bragging about his accomplishments. PFB in opperation I suspect. [hwink]

Done most of my list for today already.
Also picked a fight with the bannister. Bannister won and toe has now turned black but thankfully doesn't hurt so much as when i did it.

Going to try to grab an hours kip before it errupts in craziness later. At least I am planning some fun tonight. Won't be back on until stupid late. SO have fabulous date night evenings all, whatever you chose to do with them!

I bloody love halloween!!!

swanriver · 14/10/2011 14:08

administers arnica to poor Darkness toe.

Well I nearly just fell down the stairs tripping over some stuff for loft.

Playroom being culled again. 3 dustbin liners of stuff OUT thank goodness.
[I must be ruthless, I must be ruthless, I must be ruthless]

running out of time again Drat drat drat

LadyInPink · 14/10/2011 14:53

Hi everyone Smile

swan I frequently fall over stuff on the stairs and it's not always DD fault - I leave things on stairs until i'm ready to go up sometimes everyone Blush Very Envyof the playroom cull too.

nettie school trips are fun especially when it's your DC class as you get to see them all day so def volunteer Smile

Have been a busy bee again today:

Washing washed and hung on line
Hoovered all downstairs
Washed all floors
Cleaned loos
Had an hours walk with DH as he had a morning off which was lovely as sunny and warm
Delivered the buggy that has been clutering up my lounge to friend
Spoke to the relevant teacher about a bullying prob DD has been encountering at lunch - two girls won't let her pour her water unless she answers questions correctly Shock and yesterday they told her to drink a whole glass without breathing before she could have another Shock Shock These girls are in the year above and should know better - DD is 7 and won't stick up for herself.

Still need to:

Clean bathroom
Hoover upstairs prob won't do now as school run in a mo
Take DD to Brownies
Get ready for tonight as I am going to a wine tasting - can't get too hammered as taking DD to a party in the morning.

Hope you are all having lovely days so far and catch up soon.

coostoonettle · 14/10/2011 16:50

i started off really well this morning and had got the dishwasher on right after breakfast. and then, i sort of thought, feck it. it's friday. and i've been looking for decorating ideas online instead Blush

i've booked the painter. just need to choose the colours... so i sort of got distracted. Grin

madwomanintheattic · 14/10/2011 21:59

the painter's not actually coming for another 4 weeks...

but, y'now. interior design porn and tea won out.

it is only 3 o clock here though, so i'm going to have to shift my benumbed buttocks and deo a grocery run and a couple of external jobs once the dcs are back from school...

Morning all!

Your babystep for today is making beds. I seriously love this because even if the rest of the room is a mess it just looks tidier if the bed is made Grin.

Nothing else to do today as it is Family Fly Time Smile

Have a good day everyone!

Toffeefudgecake · 15/10/2011 10:46

DS1 had his lesson at 9am, which is great because it gets us all up, breakfasted and dressed sharpish and leaves me with a great sense of achievement, which means I can spend the rest of the day slobbing around get on with my chores now [hwink].

DC are now both having their time on the computer, DH is out looking for books to sell and I'm about to hang the washing on the line. Working on the house today (DH has decided to redecorate the dining room), then MIL is coming for dinner later.

I will make the beds first, though, Ellie, as it always makes me feel very virtuous when I do this first thing.

Hope you all have a lovely Saturday.
