Hello again everyone! This is the new thread for us as the old one was getting a bit unmanageable.

Wow! Everyone is very busy. I have been partying and playing with my little nieces (and my own dcs obviously). It was great fun Grin

I have also been listing on ebay tonight (so eventual decluttering hopefully) and writing a shopping list.

I am just off to do a meal plan, using as much from the cupboards, fridge and freezer as I can. We go away on Friday (just for the weekend) so I don't want to buy too much. Ds is requesting vegetable/lentil soup and it sounds like a good plan to me. I also have a yearning for macaroni cheese with broccoli and cauliflower in it. The dcs will probably go nuts but I think it will have to happen Grin

Ps. Missmakes I have been looking at the rings for making wine glass charms on ebay. Is it easy to do?

Enjoy your bath.

Hello everyone.

Well done on staying away from MN, missmakes & LittleMiss.

Sounds like you've had an amazingly productive time, Gossip.

Fab on the trousers, Carrots.

Enjoyed my day off. Just need to wipe around the kitchen, then get stuff ready for swimming tomorow and go to bed at a reasonable hour. Oh, and hang out the clean nappies.

I'm out for most of tomorrow including the evening, so I doubt I'll get much done.

Morning all, I am faced with the usual Monday morning chaos that comes after a weekend with all home. I am having a break before I get started (Feel the need for one after the school run)
On the plus side though, yesterday I managed to sort a small amount of paperwork that had been lurking on the welsh dresser(one of my hot spots).
So now it looks quite a bit tidyer.
Also managed to cook quite a nice dinner too.
Right I'm off to make a drink.

LittleMissProcrastinator · 19/09/2011 10:46

Hello, (looks around for signs of life)
I am on my second break, coffee and Marmite on toast (Love it or hate it ?)
(Good source of vitamin B12Wink)
Have done:
Make beds
ds to school
wash up.

LittleMissProcrastinator · 19/09/2011 11:04

Right I'm off to do some more.
Sad

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 11:09

Morning LittleMiss and everyone else.

I seem to be back on track today.

So far I have:
washed and dressed to shoes
made packed lunches
taken dcs to school
unloaded and reloaded dishwasher
cleaned worktops right into every little nook and cranny
cleaned kitchen windowsills (loads and loads of them (15 windows)
decluttered and cleaned kitchen table
decluttered kitchen (again!)
hoovered kitchen floor thoroughly, moving sofas, tables, etc.
made a BIG pot of soup
hoovered hall
hoovered lounge and lounge sofas
swished and swiped main bathroom
put a wash on.

Still to do:
fold a pile of clean laundry AND PUT IT AWAY
go out with a friend in about 40 mins
today's mission which is here This badly needs done in our house but I am not sure when I will fit it in.
buy some food
take ds to his appointment
put something on ebay
make sure dcs do homework and reading

I may struggle with the rest of my to do list but it is amazing what you can fit in with a bit here and a bit there.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 11:09

Aww LittleMiss - cross posts.

OP posts:
LittleMissProcrastinator · 19/09/2011 12:08

oooooohh Todays mission is right up my street! Grin My welsh dresser is one of my hotspots so I'm going to have another go at decluttering it.
It always gathers all sorts of paperwork, newspapers etc.

You have been very busy CarrotsSmile
Catch you later.

AngelDog · 19/09/2011 13:32

Hello, everyone.

Carrots, I felt worn out just reading your list.

This week I want to focus on getting to bed at a reasonable hour and getting out faster in the mornings. I'm going to try having a shower before breakfast instead of afterwards to see if that's any quicker.

Done:
up & dressed
dry washing away
1 load washing done
washed up
tidied kitchen
emptied & washed compost bin
done a quick online order
took DS swimming

Need to do:
Collate some snacks to take out this afternoon/evening
Hang out wet washing
Do another load of laundry
Freeze bolognese from yesterday

bessie26 · 19/09/2011 14:23

angel I can't remember the last time I had a shower in the morning, I suspect it was before DD1 (2.11) came along!! I have my bath or shower in the evening now as trying to have one while the DC are around is too stressful!

Yesterday evening I prepped up a HUGE vat of Spanish casserole to feed me, DD1 & the ILs who were coming round to babysit DD2 while I took DD1 to her swimming lesson. When they arrived at 930, they said they wouldn't be staying for lunch anyone hungry?

Laundry basket still fairly empty, just kids bedding & clothes to put away & they are both asleep atm, so I can't!

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 20:17

Lots of industry going on today.

I have done most of my list - I haven't yet done the mission or put anything on ebay - otherwise I have done it all. Having a Brew now and feeling extremely tired.

Angel The first thing I do in the morning is start running a bath - it has to be run before or after dh gets in the shower, preferably before, or it turns his shower cold.

I lie in the bath for a wee while as I come too, chatting to the dcs as they come in and out, listening to music practice often.

Then it is go, go, go once I am dressed and have dried my hair. Those 10 minutes in the bath are precious.

I find everything runs behind if I go through to the kitchen and start doing other jobs before I am washed.

Dh is the opposite though and needs food and drink soon after waking. Then he can wash and so on.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 20:18

bessie I'd love some Spanish Casserole - yes please!

GossipWitch · 19/09/2011 20:36

Little miss, I am half and half on the marmite factor I have to fancy it for it to be on toast and done a particular way, cant stand it in a sarnie, but put it in a cheese swirl and I'll happily munch through the whole batch.

Carrots where the hell do you live to have 15 kitchen windows??? A windmill or mansion?

So far today I have had an organised before school morning, so much easier when stuff is ready for them,
I changed my lounge around again, to harbour my new bargain of a TV cabinet. (£18)
And wood stained Nan's table so that I can have her other one, when I have my fire on sat ill be up loading pics of my beautiful room,
cooked tea
done some laundry
room rescued the living room
swished and swiped and that's it really,

I'm going to do
my 15 minute de-clutter in my kitchen
and my 2 2min room rescues on the hall table and stairs
I'll then have the rubbish run
med taking,
sink shining to do and
going to bed at a reasonable hour,
I cleaned off my dresser yesterday with my 15min de-clutter of my bedroom

GossipWitch · 19/09/2011 20:44

I think I may have to invest in one of those nice little showers that you put on the taps, and then get the curtain poles and curtains and things, one of my very clever friends put fablon on her bathroom walls to stop them from going mouldy, with her make shift shower, and with it being relatively cheap I think it may work, do you think £50 will do it? bearing in mind extremely small bathroom.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 20:44

Gossip you have been busy Shock I will look forward to the pics.

The kitchen isn't as grand as it sounds unfortunately. It is a big rectangular room (kitchen/diner/family room) and one half of it has windows all the way round with a long low wide windowsill round that half of the room too. It is at the back of the house and we back onto the main road so it gets very dusty. It looks great but is a total pita to clean.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 20:49

Gossip would your friend come over and give you a hand renovating?

You do get shower curtains that go right the way round in a square or circle which would presumably protect the walls a bit too.

Make sure you get a long enough hose so that you can fix it to the wall and stand under it. We had a similar set up but with a short hose and we ended up spraying the whole room. Once we realised we needed a longer hose and a wall fixing it worked brilliantly.

GossipWitch · 19/09/2011 21:33

Just ordered a shower tap mixer with rising rail from wilko's for £26 which means I have £24 left over for fablon, a shower curtain, and a rail, its do able, found a rail in wilko's for £8, and a curtain for as little as £3, which means that I have £13 left for fablon. I've done well. Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 21:56

We need photos of this home renovation too Gossip.

I have done my ebay listing but there is no way I am doing my mission at this time of night.

I shall add it to tomorrow's list.

I miss chocolate. I have a cup of tea and no choccy to eat with it. Tell me I am doing the right thing please Grin

OP posts:
GossipWitch · 19/09/2011 21:59

carrots your doing the right thing !!

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 22:02

Grin Thanks Gossip

OP posts:
AngelDog · 19/09/2011 22:15

Yes, you're doing the right thing, Carrots. :)

I couldn't function without a shower in the morning. I simply cannot walk, talk or do anything at all useful until I've both had a shower and eaten breakfast. But I do get distracted after breakfast and try to do things (very slowly) before I've washed, so showering first might help. There's no chance of me getting distracted before eating breakfast! Grin

Gossip, they sound like some great bargains.

Tomorrow:

  • Update calendar
  • Make dinner
  • Write up notes
  • Put away dry washing
  • Change sheets
  • Wash nappies

Off to bed now - not bad for me. :)

bessie26 · 19/09/2011 22:51

carrots you are definitely doing the right thing! As soon as DD2 stops feeding at night I'm going to be joining you, and start running again!

Your morning bath sounds lovely, and i do miss my morning wake-up shower, but I would rather spend an extra 10mins in bed! I will think of you all in the morning while I'm lounging around in bed, drinking tea with a baby attached to one boob and a toddler running around like a loon

You're all being very productive, and i am very impressed by your lists! I've not done huge amounts today as somehow most of this morning was taken up by DD1s (30min) swimming lesson (?!) & but tonight I have:

  • bought car tax
  • bought replacement bits for the hand blender
  • done laundry (it's in the tumble dryer atm, so I don't have to worry about the putting away bit until tomorrow)
  • started menu plan for next week
  • DH has washed & tidied up after dinner. He won't have shined the sink, but hey-ho...

I'm quite pleased with how my made-up-zone work has been going (bathroom looks fab after last week) so this week I'm going to focus on the kitchen, starting with clearing the worktops tomorrow.
