Hello again everyone! This is the new thread for us as the old one was getting a bit unmanageable.

Thanks Gossip. I now smell of all the scented pages as I like to try them all outGrin.

GossipWitch · 29/09/2011 09:52

Ask your rep for samples if you want to try them for real, I'm sure she wouldn't mind, and its always best to sample the foundations as a few do oxidise (go orange) after a few hours.

GossipWitch · 29/09/2011 09:54

I've got to save immensley for Christmas so can everyone remind me that I'm saving and therefore not allowed to splurge please, a reminder every morning would be fab!!!!!

Carrotsandcelery · 29/09/2011 10:59

Morning all! I tried to post earlier but the laptop or Mumsnet didn't want to play.

Autumn the money was mostly made on ebay. You post items to them or can put big items on Pick Up Only or send them by courier. The buyer pays the postage cost but you have to work it out.

I have been on a steep learning curve with the help of the ladies on the £350 by Christmas thread in the ebay section.

You need a camera you can link to your computer and thereafter it is easy. You probably also need a set of scales to weigh items so you don't miscalculate postage.

You just click on "Sell An Item" on ebay and it takes you through it step by step.

I am waiting for a friend to pick me up for our exercise class.

So far I have:
washed and dressed to shoes
made 2 packed lunches
done some ironing
unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher
decluttered and cleaned the worktops
put a wash on
decluttered the kitchen table (around dd's homework project)
swished and swiped bathroom
hoovered roughly around hall and kitchen
messed around with the animals
packaged and labelled ebay parcels and posted them.

I have a lot still to do after my days away from the house. Hopefully I will have energy and cope with the heat later. I have the fan on already and the dog is sleeping under it Shock

Hello!

Where is everyone today?

I have cleaned out 4 animal hutches and done more washing and dishes. That has been it for me today.

How is everyone?

Hi again carrots!

I haven't done much really apart from weeding and putting bulbs around the edges of my 17 metre bleeding back garden, I ache all over (17 metres is an estimate as my lawnmower has only 15 metre flex and it doesn't reach the far corner by 2 metres and one of them has plants in). I have also had a mooch around for things I can sell on ebay and I have made a list for them.

Might also help with the xmas savings, I hope.

Carrotsandcelery · 29/09/2011 19:59

I am sore as well Gossip as I had a bit of a mishap today and have hurt my arm. We seem to be leading parallel lives right now.

That sounds like a lot of bulbs but you will be so grateful you did it when the spring comes and you reap the benefits after a long winter.

I am stunned by the money I have made on ebay, just moving along the stuff I really couldn't justify keeping (eg dc's outgrown clothes).

£110?!?! Wow carrots that is impressive, perhaps I shouldn't be putting everything into charity bags? But then again, perhaps the good karma will help me win the lottery this weekend?!

I hung 3 loads of washing out tonight, it was mostly towels so I'm just giving them a few mins in the tumble dryer to fluff up.

Eeek DH is home from the supermarket - I'd best look busy Wink

Carrotsandcelery · 29/09/2011 20:11

I am still giving loads of stuff to charity as well bessie - I try to keep my karma in good condition too. I also do mountains of fund raising so I give of my time rather than spend my whole life cleaning or on mumsnet.

I have a very expensive hobby though, which I can't really afford so needs must and all that. You have to take good care of yourself too. Wink

I have been waiting for dh to come home so I can eat with him and have just remembered he is at a leaving do Hmm

GossipWitch · 29/09/2011 20:29

Oooohhh carrots whats you very expensive hobby?

ds1 is being mean and wont make me a Brew the meanie, I let him have the whole day off school as well, he was ill better now though and he wants to stay up an extra half hour Grin

bessie26 · 29/09/2011 21:09

I managed to walk down the stairs holding a bin, so I don't think he suspected a thing!

I had already

  • emptied all bins
  • put (most of) the laundry away
  • fluffed towels
  • put a HUGE load of kids clothes in to wash
  • put the oven on ready for the pizzas DH brought back from the supermarket

We're out at a music class tomorrow morning & I'm hoping for a nap in the afternoon as DH is out on the piss a leaving do, so I have to get both of the girls washed & into bed and will need chocolate my energy.

I'm ready for bed, but am going to go downstairs to spend some quality sofa time with DH, hopefully DD2 won't wake up until after we've watched Mock the Week!

AngelDog · 29/09/2011 22:39

Hello all.

I had a productive day but DS took 2.5 hours to get to bed Hmm so things have gone downhill. However, I did 15 mins of editing / uploading photos of things to sell, which is the most progress I've made on decluttering for a couple of weeks. Grin

Tomorrow:

  • Menu plan
  • Sainsbury's trip
  • Cook dinner to take to friend with new baby
  • Deliver dinner
  • Ring shop about pushchair
  • Go to station to meet my dad & give him broken pushchair to return
  • Make cake
  • Cook our dinner
  • More washing

Things are pretty hectic here for the whole of next week so I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't get much done.

GossipWitch · 30/09/2011 09:23

I'v got my nephew here for a few hours while his mum goes college and dads working, ds2 is now ill and demanding dn to "boove!", i havent done much flying i have however sorted things to put on ebay.

shouldbeelswhere · 30/09/2011 13:06

Carrots what is your expensive hobby? just nosy

All swished and swiped. When are you supposed to do the hr's house blessing and what do you have to do?

Kelly's mission completed, should it be just in the current zone or the whole house?

Carrotsandcelery · 30/09/2011 16:47

Hi everyone. I have been on a road trip with dh to look at a car and we are going on another tonight as we are off for 2 nights with the dcs. (dh is competing in a race on Sunday)

I am shattered but we are packed and more or less ready to go.

Sorry I have been a rubbish flyer this week. It all got a bit mental here. I will be nearly back to normal on Monday though I may need some Maltesers (i know, I know...)

Have a good weekend everyone.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 30/09/2011 16:49

this is a house blessing sorry I don't have time to chat more. Smile

OP posts:
bessie26 · 30/09/2011 20:03

should you can do the house blessing whenever is best for you, I attempt to start do mine on Tuesdays as DD1 is at GPs for the day.

I am also nosy intrigued by carrots expensive hobby. It can't be collecting anything as I'm sure she would have mentioned it with all the decluttering talk, so it must be something she does....

AngelDog · 30/09/2011 20:45

Another vote for finding out what Carrots' hobby is. :)

Done:

  • made phone calls
  • menu planned
  • cooked dinner for friend & for us
  • made some sandwiches for freezer
  • 1 load washing
  • washing up, meals etc

To do:

  • e-mail friend
  • make cake
  • hang out washing
  • make more sandwiches
  • remove snag from dress for family wedding tomorrow

Tomorrow:

  • food for DS for wedding
  • change sheets
AngelDog · 30/09/2011 20:46

Oh, and another recipe for using up apples. I've not made it yet but my mum says it's quick & easy and freezes well. :)

5 oz butter or margarine
8 oz caster sugar
2 eggs
8 oz SR flour
3/4lb peeled apples or other fruit, sliced.
1 1/2 tspns baking powder

Melt butter, add sugar, eggs, flour and baking powder and mix well.

Spread 2/3rds on bottom of 10" loose bottom tin.

Spread sliced fruit over mixture.

Add remainder of mixture.

Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 150 degrees (gas 3)

bessie26 · 01/10/2011 16:38

angel thanks for the recipes, you need your very own appleblog! i have a few apples in the kitchen who are starting to look a bit sad so I'll have to try one out...

shouldbeelswhere · 01/10/2011 18:43

Thank you Bessie I've diarised it for Monday. Usually I do nothing at the weekends and cope with chaos on Monday BUT today I have swished and swiped AND totally mucked out DS's bedroom (detailed clean and fling)

Not the best use of time when it's been such a sunny day but the bedroom looks great :) I took the curtains down to have them dry cleaned but Morrisons wanted £67!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so brought them home again. Hmm plan B and thoughts anyone?

bessie26 · 01/10/2011 22:52

How about a cool, short, gentle wash in the machine? (perhaps with a colour catcher?) Or just hang on the line to air? Or buy some new ones? Grin

We're going to ILs for lunch tomorrow which will take up most of the day and result in overtired DDs so yet again I'm not going to get much time to do anything . I did get out in the garden today & had a bit of a clear up & DH has put the garden furniture away until next year. Oh, and I went back to bed this morning while DD2 napped

Is anyone else doing "zones"? I'm not even going to look at her "detailed cleaning" list but I thought I'd try to focus my attention on the fly lady's zones each week. I think it's the "entrance, front porch & dining room" next week which is a bit scary for me. The hall contains the nightmare post pile, and the dining room is the dumping room... think I might be doing some decluttering in there next week

Any more ideas on what carrots hobby is? Has she ever mentioned dusting her faberge eggs? Grin

GossipWitch · 02/10/2011 14:12

Lol at you all wondering what carrots hobby is !! I haven't done much in the last few days, mn keeps sucking me in, and I went out on the piss last night, so I'm a little hungover as well as resembling a panda bear, trying to apply red lippy. I will be back later after attempting something I've given ds1 1 hour limits on the laptop because he keeps getting headaches.

shouldbeelswhere · 02/10/2011 20:15

Thanks Bessie, if the weather stays like this I'll put them on the line. Not sure if I'll risk the machine??? They're just very dusty.

I've just started on zone work. But after printing off the detailed cleaning list I got stuck in with DS bedroom. It looks so fab DD wanted me to do hers (she noticed and she's 2! Hmm

Got a bit carried away and have been cleaning all weekend. I need to calm it or I'll just give up being too knackered to do the basics. Got DH cleaning the skirting board in the dining room though! Nearly had a fit when he hinting that it might be my job!
